In the Strait of Gibraltar, a pod of six orcas launch a coordinated attack on the Céleste Mistral, a 50-foot sailing vessel – sending it to the depths.
Along the Amazon River, pink dolphins exhibit a never-before-seen behavior, forging an enigmatic bond with an ancient, isolated tribe.
On the seabed of the Clarion-Clipperton Zone – a 2.32-million-square-mile stretch of ocean between Hawaii and Mexico – a deep-sea mining operation begins harvesting billions of tons of polymetallic nodules, promising to revolutionize the extraction of precious metals.
Three seemingly unrelated events. One hidden code that binds them together.
And Sam Reilly must decipher the connection – before the balance of life on Earth is irreversibly altered forever...

It is said that we know more about space than we do about our seas
This story proves that, the greed of companies who will do anything to reach their own agenda regardless of man or beast. A dolphin trainer hears a tale of pink dolphins in the Amazon. Deciding to take a vacation she must see for herself, taking the chance on an old plain even older pilot she goes to see for herself. Later she contacts Sam and so the adventure begins. Some companies greed has no barriers regardless of man nor beast as Sam and Tom find out. If you have read other Sam Reilly adventures you just must not miss this one. I enjoyed it all and I highly recommend it
Tom and Sam got married to wonderful women. They start to go to their honeymoons, but a crisis occurs near Gibraltar. Then in the Amazon rainforest, and lastly in the Congo. I didn’t know there were pink dolphins, or that hippopotamus is a relative to dolphins. And there is, of course, trauma to one of the crew. And the Abyss Codex is cracked by Sam and Tom. Thoroughly enjoyed!
The Abyss Codex begins with what seems to be several unrelated events involving dolphins and killer whales in several locations – then expands to hippos. There is a bit of a mystery as to what connects all these events in the Amazon, the Congo, the Pacific Ocean, and Mediterranean geographical locations. There is also a sprinkling of environmental and biological science to add realism to the plot.
Before I start me book review,I would like to say that Christopher has unique imagination of any author that I have read, The Condex is one of those books that kept you spell bound from start to finished. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves fiction. I’m waiting for the next book.
Well, Mr. Cartwright, you've done it again. FromThe Last Airship to Abyss Codex, you've managed to hold my attention. I love your way with words in describing landscape, etc. My only complaint is that I don't get a lot done when I open one of your books because I am totally fixed on your novel. Thanks for your continued authorship.
I totally enjoy these Sam Reilly stories, mostly fiction, but enough factual content that adds to the story and the adventure, and always entertaining. You don't have to start with the first one in the series. Pick any one - you can't go wrong.
