Trudie Callender thought she had it all - a whirlwind romance with TV’s rising star, Cameron Callender, a glamorous lifestyle, and a love story straight out of a script. But beneath the surface, Cameron isn’t the charming man the world sees. Behind closed doors, his darkness unfolds, his secrets linger, and Trudie finds herself caught in a web of manipulation and deceit.
As Cameron’s fame skyrockets, so does the danger lurking within their marriage. Then a shocking discovery shatters everything Trudie thought she knew. With her world spinning out of control, she desperately needs to escape before she loses her mind.
There’s one man who can save her sanity – young, single divorce lawyer, Joe. But Joe is something special. With his irresistible appeal, before long Trudie realises she needs more from Joe than just legal advice. And as their mutual attraction mounts, they’re forced to fight their growing passion before it destroys them both.
More than romance, this is a psychological thriller packed with twists and suspense.
Thank you for your interest in my books. I am a new author to Amazon, and I write lively stories of lovers in the modern world. With spicy romance and drama my stories are escapist but relatable – about real people, but in unexpected places. I hope to leave my readers feeling happy, but there’s heartbreak too, so might also make you cry along the way!
I grew up by the seaside in Essex. A passion for the English language led to a career as a legal secretary, working with words all day; but it was my lifelong love of romantic fiction that made me want to write my own.
Talking To The Turtles was my first published work in October 2024, and my second book, After Dark in Greenwich Park (started before the first one, and then picked up again when I truly got going with my writing!) came out in February 2025. If you have read either (or both) it would be wonderful if you could leave a review.
What a rollercoaster of emotions! This book had me completely hooked from the very beginning with its perfect blend of psychological thriller and romance. The character development in this story is absolutely stellar. Trudie's journey from a woman living what appears to be a fairy tale life to someone fighting for her sanity and freedom felt incredibly authentic. Beckett does an amazing job showing how manipulation can slowly erode someone's sense of reality. Cameron is written as such a convincingly charming yet sinister character - the kind of person who could fool everyone while being absolutely terrifying behind closed doors. And Joe! What a breath of fresh air he is in Trudie's dark world. The chemistry between them leaps off the page, and I loved watching their relationship develop amid all the chaos and danger. The thriller aspect of this book had me on the edge of my seat. I found myself feeling genuinely anxious for Trudie's safety, which is exactly what you want from a good psychological thriller. Beckett knows how to build tension and keep you guessing about what Cameron might do next. What really sealed the deal for me was the ending - it was so satisfying and sweet! After all the darkness and psychological torment, getting that happy resolution felt like such a relief. Sometimes you just need a story where the good people win and find their happiness.
