Katera Returning: Book Three

Katera Returning
Book Three of the Shadowsoul Trilogy

The surface is within reach—but the cost of freedom may be everything.

Claire and her allies have fought their way through blood, betrayal, and the shadows of Katera itself. Now, with Darkmor tightening his grip and the rebellion fractured, time is running out. The final gemstone and the key to ending the emperor’s rule—remains lost. Without it, the world’s last hope could crumble into dust.

But deeper forces are stirring. Old powers long thought dead whisper again, and not all who rise from the darkness do so as friends.

As the walls between past and present collapse, Claire must face the truth of what she’s become, who she was born to be, and the decisions made for her a centry before her birth. Love, loyalty, and survival are no longer separate choices—only different ways to break.

The rebellion rises. The shadows return. And Katera’s fate will be decided.

Fast paced

Well I was hoping for a few more chapters before the epilogue, what is life exactly like on the surface and more from our mated couple.

It’s been too long since I’ve read about my friends in Katera! I am so glad that J.D. Evergreen wrote this series! It is genius how she is able to create so many characters with such depth. You fall in love with them all. The found family that is formed between all the characters, especially the main six, is phenomenal.

Katera Returning is the breathtaking end of the trilogy. Really the only thing I would want is more. I wanted a longer epilogue. I liked that we got to see a couple months in the future but I think it would’ve been cool to also see maybe a few years into it as well. I am also a sucker for babies and would have loved to see the continuation of the conversation between Lexa and Claire. I also saw a few editing errors that bothered me but that is a personal peeve of mine.

I was about to be BIG mad with how one part of this book was going but it’s ok now, everything worked out..lol. I enjoyed this series and would recommend it to someone looking for a fantasy, magic, adventure-y type book. If you’re looking for romance, this is not it. While I wish we got more of Lexa and Claire, their relationship is definitely back burner compared to the overall story arc. The ending was a little anticlimactic but I enjoyed each of the characters and the story so it was ok for me in the end. This book like the previous 3 still had lots of misspells and grammar errors…it was definitely better than the first two and didn’t pull you out of the story as much but yeah, it needed another read through in my opinion.

Loved it!!

I absolutely loved the Shadowsoul series, and I am hoping there is another book or two to go with it. All three books were awesome and captivating, but my favorite had to be this one, Ketera Returning. The loyalty amongst the group and the love between Claire and Lexa is amazing.

I found the Shadowsoul prequel, Ketera, and I'm going to read it to get a better understanding of what happened on the surface.
