Join the Deceptihogs in their quest to control Piggy Island in DK's all-new Level 1 Reader "Angry Birds(TM) Transformers(TM) Deceptihogs versus Autobirds." Exciting images recreate the epic battles, and clear, informative text helps kids learn how to read -- and learn to love reading.
My son loves Angry Birds so when he saw this at the library it definitely caught his attention. While this book is funny and cute--and I can see how any kid who likes Angry Birds or Transformers would really like reading it--I have to say that this is nowhere near a Level 1 reading level; it is at least on a 3rd-grade level. I was expecting 5-word sentences with basic sight words. Instead, there were entire paragraphs with really complicated words. There isn't much story, more a page explaining each character, and that's about it. It only focuses on the Deceptihogs though, with no real mention of any of the Autobirds characters. It also has a nice quiz in the back, which again, is much more appropriate for older children. I do recommend this, but only for ages 8 to 10.
Angry Birds Transformers: Deceptihogs versus Autobirds is a thrilling Level 1 reader that perfectly blends fun, action, and learning for young readers. DK brings Piggy Island to life with vibrant illustrations and exciting battle scenes, keeping kids engaged from start to finish. The simple, clear text is designed to help early readers gain confidence while developing essential reading skills. Fans of Angry Birds and Transformers alike will love this entertaining, educational adventure. A great choice for children just starting their reading journey!
A smash-up tale featuring the Angry Birds, and their enemy the hogs after a mysterious source of energy from the Eggspark that fell on Piggy Island turning the pigs, birds, and eggs into transforming robots.
I am not one of those people who dislike a book for the simple reason that it was based off a game/clothing/show franchise. That said: I did not like this book. There was no plot, which makes for a very boring read.
The book is simply a character catalog, which is okay for younger readers. But the catalog is almost identical to the non-Transformers Angry Birds book, which is just lazy.
I'm sorry but these books are absolutely terrible. Not even remotely appropriate vocabulary for level 1 readers. Their level 2 Angry Birds Transformers is not readable by level 2 reading children, either. These books will NOT help your children learn to read. These made up words are not based in beginning phonics and will only frustrate beginning readers.
