Absolutely loved this book.

The book was so well described that you could just picture yourself in the characters situation, their frustration, and emotions as their tying to find the Tesoro and walking into danger.
The characters were all just so realistic and they all had their flaws, be it big or small. Also, the characters discuss issues that everyone could relate or sympathize with.
My favorite part is the inclusion of Italian words spread throughout the course of the story.
The best part is the glimpse into the past of the Tesoro and how it made you 5x more invested in finding out more of the history and not wanting it to end.
Overall its a quick fun read that anyone and everyone would enjoy.

Andrea Hintz’s Tesoro: Secrets of the Hidden Treasure follows recent college graduate Daphne Bleau as she gets pulled into a world of treasure-hunting by her adventurous and manipulative cousin, Bailey, and their like-aged intern, Jack. The three follow in Daphne and Bailey’s uncle’s footsteps, who left his family 15 years before to pursue the treasure left behind by the Tesoro crew. Risk-averse Daphne finds herself increasingly drawn into the world of treasure hunting and all its competitive dangers while trying to maintain her safety, sanity, and family's well-being. The first in a series, Secrets of the Hidden Treasure focuses on the team’s journey with occasional flashbacks to one of the crew members of Tesoro itself, a young man who desperately seeks to be anything other than a pirate.
A light read suitable for younger audiences, Tesoro has consistent, mild suspense that sometimes veers away from the rules of the world to sustain that conflict. The decision to focus on the antagonism between the two treasure-hunting groups, however, limits the ability to explore interpersonal conflicts that allow for character depth and growth. It is fairly self-contained as its own story but leaves enough to keep readers interested in continuing the series. Hintz utilizes vivid descriptions to build the scenes around her characters, but certain situations lack the knowledge of timing as it pertains to daylight and lighting in general. This creates situations where visualization is difficult, and character’s knowledge feels out of place. Some characterization has a mix of “shown” and “told”, which on occasion feels like knowledge is being spoon-fed to the reader but largely feels natural and characters are easy to identify and empathize with. Hintz only occasionally runs into the stereotype of having the lead character always be in the lead when it would make more sense for certain ideas or actions to come from her more-experienced counterparts. Thematically, Hintz touches on the concepts of a person’s ability to change, how self-perception can influence one’s entire course of life, and whether or not certain choices and ideas are worth keeping or letting go. Fans of Michael Crichton’s Pirate Latitudes may find an agreeable counterpart in this series.

* I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion *

3.5 stars

Daphne is 22, she is freshly out of college and she is enjoying her las summer before starting her “adult life”.
After a phone call from her cousin she gets involved with an exiting (and at time dangerous) treasure hunt. The prize? “Il tesoro”, a pirate treasure split in three parts, each hidden somewhere around the world.
For this fist book in this series we follow her, her cousin, her friend Jack and her uncle to Italy, where, presumably, they will find the first part of the treasure.

If I had to describe it I would say Indiana Jones meets the Da Vinci Code and together have a pirate themed party.

I am not quite sure what the genre is supposed to be but I would guess YA.

Overall it was quite good and entertaining, it got better the more you read and it got me engaged enough to finish it quite quickly.
The story is interesting and I would probably be happy to read more in this series.

Just a couple of things kept me from giving a higher rating and those are:
-the writing style was not necessarily my favourite, there wasn’t anything wrong with it per se, but it was very much descriptive, definitely more about telling than showing (hope it makes sense)
-the book is for the most part set in Italy but the sentences that were written in Italian didn’t always make sense, for example at some point a waitress tells them “in questo modo”, to show them their table and they say that oh, it must mean to “come this way” !
Except that it doesn’t.
You can use understand what she wanted to say but it doesn’t quite work.

Overall I suggest it if you are looking for a fun little read and you are in the mood for some adventure, plus it’s always nice to support less known authors and Andrea was lovely to talk to.

Andrea Hintz throws us into a high-flying treasure hunting adventure reminiscent of Uncharted or National Treasure with Tesoro: Secrets of the Hidden Treasure! Daphne Bleau takes a stab at adventuring by travelling with her uncle, cousin, and love interest in search of long lost riches. Simultaneously, we uncover the story of a young female pirate long past. In typical Hintz style, the author propels the plot forward with instantly lovable characters and a healthy dose of intrigue! Getting to learn more about both characters past and present was a wonderful mechanism as it always kept me flipping forward and guessing what would happen next. I love a good treasure hunt, and this one is just fun to travel along with! If you love action adventures with good-spirited characters and intriguing twists, grab your whip and hat and check out Tesoro!

This book is an interesting read and if you like pirates and treasures then this book will appeal. The language was easy to understand and I totally enjoyed the treasure hunt depicted in the book. This is a fast paced novel and is suited for the young adult category. Andrea Hintz has created a beautiful story and I would be interested in exploring more of the story. This is the first part in the tri-series and is engrossing. Would recommend it for a easy and comfortable read.

I received a copy of the complete series in exchange for an unbiased opinion. Reviewing this short story individually was my choice.

The first book in the Tesoro series sets up the story very well. Glimpses into the life of a young boy growing up amid pirates really added to my interest in the story. I like that the author is able to convey the suggestion of attraction without having to resort to the insta-love that is so common in books now. There were a few descriptions that probably could have been shorter, but that was a minor issue for me.

Each book in the series is clean. Each book finishes its own part of the story in a satisfying way while adding to the larger story told throughout the series. This is a great start to the adventure.

Tesoro l: Secrets of the Hidden Treasure (The Tesoro Series Book 1).
Nancy Drew meets National Treasure in this book 1 of the Tesoro series. A group of three soon become four when arriving in Italy to search for clues relating to the first part of the hidden Tesoro treasure. The small team consisting of two cousins, their uncle and an intern show resilience throughout this swashbuckling adventure. Ruthless and dangerous treasure hunters guarantee excitement and tension as the four delve underground in this delightful treasure quest. I also am very partial to the snippets of life for Johnny aboard his grandfathers pirate ship.
I would recommend this to all readers with a love of pirates and adventure.
