Letting her go was a mistake. I never repeat my mistakes...

It was just going to be a quick vacation. A break from the demands of my job as a pediatric surgeon. I never thought she'd be there.

Jessica Stein. My Jessa. The woman I left behind all those years ago is every bit as sexy now as she was then. I want her more than ever.

Too bad she doesn't feel the same way. To her, I'm the guy who broke her heart and let her down. She thinks I'm the same player I used to be. She's wrong.

But the only thing she wants from me is my medical expertise. See, her son is sick. I'll do everything I can for the boy, and eventually, I will convince her to trust me with the secrets I know she's keeping. I need her to give me a second chance, because I am the man she's been waiting for.

Did not like Jessa

Jessa was annoying. I couldn't stand her. Tried so hard to like her but she made everything about her.

Spoiler Below:

She kept Cam from know he was a Dad and somehow it was all his fault cause he was young and broke it off with her boohoo.
She deprived him of being a Dad and his parents of being grandparents bepfr they died yet she's innocent and it was all Cam. I'm sorry this book was terrible and I enjoyed the books in this series. Jessa was a selfish narcissist who played victimel.

Boring Brandt

This is the most boring book in the series so far. No chemistry between Cameron and Jessa. All anger/frustration over an emoticon/emoji from 16 years ago. Let’s hope Book 6 will have a better storyline.

This was definitely not the best book in the series- but it was still a fun read. 3.5 stars.

I think I was expecting more from Cam’s story. We meet him in the previous books as a playboy like the rest- so i think I was setting myself up for some giant story. Which I guess this was? But like not-

Jessa. Yikes. She is BY FAR the worst female character this author has written. Why Cam wants to be with her I will never know.

The story also irks me in more ways than one. The forgiveness of the biggest point of the plot is ridiculous on everyone’s side. I truly don’t understand. I just don’t.

All in all, there are some touching points in this book and I liked Cameron overall. It was hard to get past some of the issues of the book and truly, Jessa is just bleh.

While the plot for second chance romance is never my fave, the secret baby did the trick. The research into the topic of each story always amazes me. I feel like I actually learn things while reading Raylins books.
This one was the least sexy of the series so far. The female character wasn’t as unique as the others. No real personality at all actually. She was basically identifying herself as a mom and kind of housewife? She finds herself later on but that’s like at 95%. I wasn’t sold on the romance in this one, but I was still rooting for them. Her sons condition and the father being the surgeon and all of the details around the hemispherectomy was superb and my favorite part. Very House/Greys Anatomy like.
Nat and Sebastian are next and I’m guessing/hoping/expecting a ton of fire!!!

it was good

Now I want to say pretty much every book I read I give a 5 star review and especially Raylins books. She is an amazing author and I’ve loved all her books and I can’t wait for Spencer’s to come out. But Jessa was whiny and so selfish that I felt no chemistry between her and Cam. It’s sad but the book was almost too much for me to finish. Colin and Jake are still some of my favorites but it just felt forced the chemistry between the two leads. Give it a chance you make like it, it just wasn’t one of my favorites.

Oh I absolutely LOVED Dr. Brandt!! When I tell you there were moments as a reader that I didn’t know what would happen to Cam and Jessa (and Jackson), you know that Raylin Marks cooked hard with this story! This book five of the series is definitely in my top three of the Billionaire series so far! If you want to read a story of how two people work to see if they can find love again, even though one party doesn’t know if they can fully give the other person another try, then this book is for you!

Cameron, pediatric neurosurgeon, and his first live Jessa, whom he met and left in college to pursue his medical career. They reunite after running into each other at a resort. Cam realizes it was Jessa that still held his heart.
I feel like the author skipped some info on this book or did not go into detail over the big events of the book but rather spent time on fillers.

Brilliant

Having read the Jake,Jim,Collin, and Alex series now we have Dr Cameron Brandt Pediatric Neurosurgeon at St John's Hospital.

Meet Cameron Brandt the best pediatric neurosurgeon and works miracles and gives new life to change for the better and give back to the patient's and family.
Cameron meet his love of his Life at college when going through his life choices and path careers going for what he believe in and to be better after his late sister was diagnosed with epilepsy with no hope. So after a weekend away with a random colleague for a bachelor party he ran into Jessa again. The one that got away and the one absolute mistake that Cameron Brandt made and regretted.

Meet Jessica Stein was studying a career in dentistry but life took a different route and Jessa would never regret only wanted the best for her son and life but meeting Cameron again on that weekend brought all the gulit and love for him that never had gone away.
Absolutely loving the series and love the characters highly recommended

As I am late for this party this series has resonated with me so much and emotional and also it is great to see an author writing about Epilespy and the trails and tribulations that one goes through. I do wish they are cures for all especially people with epilepsy and the stigma attached to it.
loved all of this book

I loved how the universe brought Jessica and Dr. Brandt back together, but I was a little nervous that while finding herself Jessica would fall out of love for Dr. Brandt.

hated this book

I have loved the books in this series until this one. It was hard to get through and way to long. Hated Jessa's character. I was not even pulling for her and Cam. She was a complete bitch and felt because of her son's condition she had a right to be. I get being a mama bear, I can be the worst but no excuse to treat people they way she does. Skipped a lot of her BS.

❤️ This is the 5th book in the Billionaires´ club series❤️

I tought that book Dr. Brooks from this series was one of the most emotional book I´ve ever read, but then I read this book, and oh my, this story was perfect.

I love romance books with medical themes ans Raylin Marks has a great tallent to offer book packed with great characters, romance, drama and medical issues in equal balance. And if the character with disease is a child prepare yourself many many tissues because it is impossible to read this story without crying.

Cam is a pediatric neurosurgeon, he was alwazs ambicious and the passion to help kids with epilepsy made him one of the best in US. It seems he has everything, but actually he miss so much. His Jessa he left 16 years ago on his way to achieve his dream. Jessa had to give up her dream for her son-Jackson- her and Cam´s son. SInce she beleived she was not enough for Cam she never let him know about Jack.

They both meet for the fist time in Jamaica, and this short meeting awakes their old memories and feelings.
Jack inherited the epilepsy from Cam´s family. And Jessa is now so desperate she decides to contact Cam and ask for help.
She tries so hard to fight her feelings for Cam, because she promised herself never to believe him again, the one time she did she was left heartbroken and with Jack alone.
Cam is ready to help his own son and have to say I loved the way he accepted this news in his life. More when he realised he can´t have everything just because he decided to have it.

Altought it was so hard to see Jessa to strugle with her feelings, her relationship with her parents, while fighting for her son life, I was glad Raylin gave her time to realise what she wants and what she feels and that she can be herself, there is no need to make everybody happy just to be accepted by them. If you are not enough as a person the way you are, then these other people don´t deserve to have you in their lives and it is their own loss.

This story was beautiful and I highly recommend it to read it!!

3.5⭐️

I liked it but I didn’t love it.
Cameron is the paediatric neurosurgeon at the hospital Jake and Coll work.
Jessa and Cam were in a relationship in collage but broke up after Cam decided to persue his career as a doctor. Jessa fell pregnant and didn’t tell him for 16 years. Then they met in Jamaica after Cam went to a trip with one of his guy friends from the hospital as a honeymoon because he cheated on his now ex. Cam never fell out of love with Jessa. Jessa was engaged to Warren an asshole. Their relationship was super toxic. Jackson, the son, has a genetic disorder and suffered from seizures needs to be operated. The thing is Jessa was super nervous and at first didn’t want to do it.
Cam and Jessa went on a trip alone I think to Mexico. Jackson was with Jack and Ash. In that time Jacks had seizures that were back to back and went into a coma. What was so weird is that Jessa called Warren to come to the hospital. A little bit later she said something that she found comfort in him because he wouldn’t put her first which is a huge red flag. After the operation and after Jacks was cleared they moved in with Warren???? Which makes no sense at all. Also Laney asked her to come to her house but she wasn’t sure and said that she had to ask Warren if he was ok with being alone with Jackson. In the end she did go to the party but everyone there was planning on getting Cam and her back together. They talked and she told him that she had to heal alone. Cam was so patient and told her that he would help her and wait for her. After A YEAR they went to have dinner and talked for a bit but that quickly changed and went home to fuck. After that he asked her to marry him. She said yes and then they went to Jacks and told him he then started to cry which was cute.
All in all the book was ok. I didn’t really like Jessa if I’m very honest. I loved Cam how nice and caring he was with Jackson. Also that he wasn’t pissed at Jessa for not telling him about Jacks.

This series has always been messy, dramatic, and occasionally unhinged in my opinion, but Dr. Brandt takes it to a whole new cortisol-inducing level. I’ve never taken so many breaks mid-chapter out of pure irritation. This book didn’t just drain my energy, it siphoned it.

Let’s start with Jessa, our FMC, who may genuinely be one of the worst protagonists I’ve ever read. I can handle flawed characters. I can handle insecurity. What I cannot handle is page after page of self-loathing, spiraling, and epic pity parties with zero visible growth. When Jessa sulks, we get front-row seats. However, when she supposedly heals or evolves, it happens off-page like a rumor. You can’t ask readers to root for growth they never get to witness. Narrative gaslighting much?

Now Cam. Sir. You dumped your college sweetheart to chase your dreams, felt no real guilt, and then waltzed back years later expecting a second chance because you save lives now?
His reaction to discovering he has a son is shockingly mild, followed by getting tipsy with 'the boys' while they speculate about Jessa’s motives. It’s giving emotional negligence with a medical degree.

Speaking of motives, the fiancé subplot makes zero sense. Jessa villainizes her wealthy, dull fiancé and his entourage, yet has no issue running back to Cam, who comes with the same level of wealth, power, and social baggage. The difference? Familiarity, California sunshine, a live-in doctor and a sex life.
It felt less like love and more like choosing the devil you already know.

Add in intrusive friends, and a rushed emotional resolution, and what could have been a compelling medical romance ends up feeling like a generic billionaire fantasy with a PhD in frustration.
Final verdict:
Exhausting, frustrating, and wildly disappointing. Not worth the headaches or the emotional labor.

NGL I'm 50% through this and I cant stand the FML. ugh she is actually just really mean. i get being protective of your son and heart but i don't understand all her rude comments to the person trying his best to help her son. she seems to constantly have an issue with Cam. She is super dismissive toward him and his feelings. She is also so f-ing pessimistic about everything. She's holding onto something that happened 16 years ago when they were both young and stupid. One second she'll tell him that its ages ago and doesn't matter then in the next breath she is crapping on him for leaving her.

And the rich spoiled kid comment (which Cam just brushed off... how even) then a couple chapters earlier she commented on how he never let his wealth make him snobby..? So many inconsistencies in this book.

The only reason I'm still reading is because i love Cam and Jacks. If I could just skip all her chapters and just read the relationship between Jacks and Cam develop, I would.

Another totally unrelated thing, what's up with all these random married chicks showing Cam theirs breasts?!

This was by far one of the most beautiful books I've read. I know it might trigger some people because of the hiding pregnancy item, the unresolved issues and a female lead who didn't have a chance to mature due to the circumstances and acted like a maidden in need most of the time, but the story really developed in the realization that it was the only way to have a future for them despite the fact that you really need to have and open mind in understanding why someone like Cameron would hold on to love for as long as he was without contacting her, and the reasons why Jessica never planned on contacting him until she new who he became in the medical field.
Jackson won't disappoint you, guys, despite the fact that he wasn't written in a more accurate 16yo personality. I guess living his life with a disease made him grow faster, but he was cute in a dorky way.
And the friends that became family throughout these series are just the kind of tribe i'd hope to have in times of need and fun.
I'm amazed by this author and I'm next to read the final book of this series with utter emotion and knowing that she is top 3 one of my favorite romance authors. Kudos to you!!!

hard to get through

Hard to get through. I usually finish one of these in a day- this one took me 3 from rage quitting on it. That’s the best way to describe this book after the first amazing 4. I was so excited for this book because I loved the tid bits we got from cam in the first few but to say I hated this book and Jessa within the first 3 chapters is an understatement.

I already can’t stand the “I didn’t tell you about the baby for X reasons” baby troupe. It enrages me to no end because it’s such a selfish thing to do regardless of what insecurities you may have. But jessa not only hid it for 16 years but then point blank lied to the man when she had the opportunity to come clean. How Cam never railed her for that was beyond me. But that was just the start of many issues with Jessa. When she called Warren in after Jacks went into a coma I rage quit for the 3rd time. I guess in the end it all worked out well but like I said in the beginning it was hard to make it through that one without rage quitting for good. Really hope Nat and Spencer’s story is better bc I love Nats character

This book is a gem! I’m a fan of “surprise you’ve got a kid” trope, but you can only read so many before they all blur into each other and it becomes a snooze fest, until now. WOW creative story telling I fell in love with all of the characters, even though the FMC is angsty I’ll give her pass especially when you discover why. This is a stand alone book but I highly recommend that you start from the beginning become they interconnect and I love to read about males that rely on each other and have close relationships. So often me read Alpha types who are pretty one dimensional, simply put they Alpha and their alone. Raylin has managed to write a good story about a bunch of Alpha males that are relatable they maintain that sexy energy without turning them into total pansies by the end of the book. Even when there changing diapers !
I’m sure you know what I mean. I’m some books the men start out as strong and formidable and by the end of the book they’re wet washcloths 🤣

I give the book ONE-STAR because of the Jessa character. If the book didn't include her, it would be a 4.5-star. Yes, she's ruined the entire story.

I'm about 70% of the way through the book and let me state this loud and clear:

Jessa is a HUGE PAIN IN THE A$$!!!! My GOD I've never read a FMC who FREAKING WHINES CONSTANTLY!!!!! I want to *itch slap her into the next century!

A story that could have been sweet, full of drama for Jax, and then the found again lovers trope has been turned into a whiny, self-deprecating, let me feel sorry for myself, it's all your fault despite what I've done, it's "my child" (although he's the father) BS a story could hold.

Seriously....I hope she takes a long walk off a short pier in the middle of the ocean while the yacht is speeding away.

Now that I forced myself to finish this story...I'm still wishing she would have been dumped in the middle of the ocean. Holy cow! Ugh!

it was good

Ok… I’ve read 6 out of 9 books of this series. And I wasn’t sure if it will keep being this good after the main 4 billionaires were finished. But this one was also good.
The story was unexpected from the very beginning. And it’s so good how Railyn succeeds on making each love story different from the previous one. Also I love how the characters from the other books appear on every book. It’s like they are all a big family and you can enjoy a little sneak peak of their life’s during their happy ending.
So far Dr Brooks is my fav story.

Back to this one. A few comments: it has some shocking moments from the beginning. I don’t like how the doctors call her mom at some points, it’s creepy. It was a faster reading than the others. I didn’t like her indecision about Cam, but the happy ending was good enough to compensate that part.

Read it if you’ve read the other stories, you can’t quit now.

Liked the book, but so many questions ...

Such as, when a man dumps the woman he loves to further his own ambitions, yet still misses her and can't love another years later, why doesn't he try to find her or hire someone who can to see if all is right with her despite his past selfish behavior? Just saying' since our personal information is out there for any search engine to locate. It would have made it much easier to resolve his communication issues and her natural distrust of him, which caused her to hide their son's existence from him.

The story dragged in some places while making huge time jumps in others, but to get it all in under 400 pages? Understandable.

Overall,I enjoyed the tale. It caused me to miss the old days of working in hospitals and the friendships that form under pressure.

another great read

When Cam runs into his college ex, he thinks fate has brought them back together. Can they get through the hardest part of life?

These two are just another perfect couple that the author has brought to life. I love how she takes real situations and has the characters find love through them. Cam is a hot shot billionaire doctor and Jessa needs his help to save her son.

The emotions are high in this book because we have the emotional trauma of a sick child raised by a single mother but add to it that his surgeon is actually his dad and you’ve got potentiometer for disaster. The author just has a way of making things messy and cleaning them right up for us to enjoy. I can’t wait for more.

Ooooohmyguuuudness!!! Finish the boook...finish the boooook....trying reaaaally hard to finish the book! I skipped Mr. MITCHELL for this because of the "secret child" trope....ugh...so boring. I'M sitting here, antsy, waiting for myself to finish the book...

I really liked the second part of the first part...the first part was Jessa being with douche Warren and not feeling it so the second part of the first part is her meeting Cam again - that part was fine.

I don't like Jessa at all. She's a good mother, but as her character says, her "relationship patterns" are making me pissed at her! I like Jacks, though.

Bottom line, Cameron deserves a better woman. A woman who isn't wishy-washy and codependent on douchebag exes. Jessa, to me, is too juvenile and stuck in the past.

I cannot believe this book has such high ratings. I love this author and she usually write great and this book just felt very cranked out to please the masses. Jess’s is the worst love interest ever she is so selfish and honestly incredibly dumb. She blames everything on Cam, keeps him from knowing he is a father so he finishes his career and it’s all his fault apparently. She freaks out over literally everything and even goes on a rant about how he sent her an emoji as a response to a long text from back in the day when they were breaking up. The is almost no chemistry between them and the least sexy book of the series so far. I am 28 chapters in and there hasn’t even been a KISS YET. Anyways, I almost don’t want to finish this book because I am bored and annoyed.

Cameron and Jesse

This is a tough one. Overall, love the series! Love these guys. That being said, this should have been Jessa’s book as it pretty much is all her and her issues. Not a fan honestly. She keeps holding him responsible for the last 16 years but he accepts the secrets and wants to move on and live. Then after tracking him down, she questions his medical competency? Very front heavy and very little towards the end, no epilogue. Would love more and some of that will come with the last book but we love Cam and want to see Cam happy. Still, loved as I love these guys and the series and so happy to see work from Raylin again.

A Maze

I think Jessa may be one of my least favorite characters. She zigs then she zags then she turns in circles. One minute she loves Warren, then she loves Cam, then she hates both of them. She gets so confused she can't remember that he did give her his phone number in Jamaica, but she did not give him hers. Later she thinks that there was a reason he did not give her his phone number. She accuses him of acting like a crazy, thrill-seeking billionaire, as if there is something dirty about having money. It's just a mess of a book. Not to mention the gratuitous use of profanity. There are just so many cases it's not called for. I could not wait for this to end.

Loved reading this book a lot!

Though I must admit it looked like Dr Stanton at first, but with Cam being his sons doctor it took another turn.

I felt kind of frustrated with Jessa at times, but her story has so much depth in it.
This is a true 2nd chance romance read with a 16 year old in it.

After splitting up from Jessa, to persue his dream, Cam and Jessa meet again after 16 years.
Jessa has a fiancé and son, but after seeing Cam again, she isn't so determined to marry this Warren guy.

For some reason I really like Cameron men in books I read, and this isn't an exeption.

Really loved reading this book, can't wait for the next in this series!
