Her husband’s murder is unsolved. The FBI won’t budge. But a single photograph could unravel everything.
Grief-stricken but unbroken, Mirielle Laurant is done playing it safe. When the photo leads to the powerful Hastings family, she launches her own investigation—into a legacy built on silence, wealth, and long-buried lies.
With her team scattered across continents, Mirielle hunts for Harriet uncovers a dead heir’s secret life, Ivy infiltrates the family's secluded Pittsburgh estate, and Joe follows Myles’s final lead to a shadowy archaeological site in Spain.
But as the past resurfaces, they realize they’re not just chasing the truth—they’re threatening a dynasty willing to do anything to protect itself.
Lost Son is a taut, intelligent thriller of corruption, greed, and one woman’s relentless pursuit of justice.
Book 2 of mirielle Laurant series does not disappoint. The story of corporate greed, murder and a chase to find her husbands murder takes Mirielles team on a trail of secrets and lies. Had to be read in 1 sitting was too tense to put down. Well done HN
When my monthly “Cat Ladies” lunch group met a few weeks ago our question of the month was, “Given the choice of anyone in the world, whom would you want as a dinner guest?” I chose H.N. Wake! Seriously! This woman writes awesome books! I would have a tough time choosing which character to pick, however, but Mirielle Laurent, the protagonist in Lost Son: A Mirielle Laurant Thriller , is certainly quite impressive.
Mirelle is a short seller, and as we saw in the first book of the series, The Titan's Debt: A Mirielle Laurant Thriller, she is good at it. Very, very good. Her late husband was an FBI agent, and Mirielle is still haunted by his mysterious death. Suddenly, she comes across a clue that she cannot ignore. Once again, she calls upon her team of Revaler researchers, and they go on the hunt, not just for information, but for a killer. She has the same talented, enthusiastic, hard-working people who are willing to move mountains to get the job done: Ivy Choate, Harriet Godwin, security head Joe Pulver, and FBI agent Lea Peck. I love these people!
As usual, this is not an easy task, and it is not without danger. She tracks her husband Myles’s last movements, attempting to learn what, and who got him killed. The plot twists from New York to California, round and round to Pennsylvania and even to Barcelona. In typical H.N. Wake style, there is a financial trail as well. When you add them all up, the mystery is solved. I always seem to have a smile on my face when I have finished one of H.N.’s books!
Mirielle Laurant is a woman who is driven to find justice, and never more so than when she is trying to discover who killed her husband, Myles. Even the FBI, seems to have put his murder on the back burner. But then a clue drops into her lap. A clue she can’t ignore. Now her Ravaler Research team will dig down, follow any thread, until she finds the truth…and with the truth she will get justice.
Mirielle won’t be put off any longer. She is determined to suss out the truth and she will stop at nothing to find it. A journey that will take her across the continents and will put her own life in danger. This story is a ‘grab ahold of your seat’ thriller. Ms. Wake builds characters that are human, people the reader can relate to. The fast-paced plot will keep you engrossed. You won’t want to put the book down.
I think in H.N. Wake I have found my new favorite writer.
An exceptional fast paced and gripping thriller. I love the fiery, passionate determination of Mirielle as she strives to expose corruption and revenge her husband’s death. The plot, the characters and the intrigue drew me in and it was impossible tgo put the book down. This is a great book that I highly recommend.
I read this book as part of an advance reader team and am voluntarily writing this review.
A murder mystery wrapped in a tale of an unethical billionaire's greed is the basis of this financial thriller. Mirielle Laurent is determined to solve the Murder of her FBI agent husband. She follows the crumbs he left behind and, with the help of her team, uncovers the truth. Besides the interesting story, the reader is educated on the developing value of Gold Hydrgen. A key element to the conspiracy the the Ravaler team uncovers. A recommend, enjoyable read.
