PROVOCATION IS THE THIRD BOOK IN THE DEN OF DECEPTION SERIES—A DARK CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE FEATURING MORALLY GREY CHARACTERS, ENEMIES-TO-LOVERS DYNAMICS, FORCED PROXIMITY, AND PSYCHOLOGICAL MANIPULATION. OUR FMC DAISY IS NEURODIVERGENT AND DOESN'T HAVE TO CHOOSE BETWEEN HER MEN. IF YOU ADORE ENEMIES-TO-LOVERS, COLLEGE BULLY ROMANCE, AND WATCHING FMCS COME INTO THEIR OWN POWER, THIS SERIES IS DEFINITELY FOR YOU! CONTAINS MATURE THEMES INTENDED FOR READERS 18+.
Kyra was 18 when she read her first romance, 19 when she left the US for the UK, 20 when she decided to stay in London, 25 when she met her now husband, 30 when she got married, 31 when she had kid 1, 33 when she had kid 2, and 36 when she was diagnosed as autistic.
She now lives a few miles outside London with her husband, the two (likely neurodivergent) kids, and a cuddly cocker spaniel named Patch who likes to roll in bird crap.
Not all of her stories have neurodivergent FMCs but representation is important, especially when so many women are not diagnosed until well into later life!
She writes PNR, Romantasy, and Contemporary why choose where the enemies to lovers journey is rough but worth it!

After Degradation,i needed Provocation badly….because that cliffhanger,it was bad! Having read the ARC,having taken the time i needed to stop shaking,i am now in that same position,AGAIN!! Kyra Alessy is killing me with this series, and i’m loving every second! She’s so very good at giving you all the feels….from love, adoration and satisfaction to sadness, pain, anger and fear.
Daisy and her men are growing closer, are becoming a family. They’re all opening up,sharing the secrets they kept, but what happened at the Heath is still something Daisy has trouble talking about….. But Daisy’s getting stronger emotionally and her men love who she’s becoming,in fact they encourage her. And even though Shade,Mav and Blake may have become very protective of her, she needs to fight some battles herself. The threats are getting worse though….not only is John forcing her to marry into an abusive and creepy family, her stalker is now getting violent! Bit by bit,Daisy and Shade are putting together what happened to her mother. But the stalker isn’t happy with the progress….or with what they finally manage to produce….Envy. It seems that professor Applegate has a connection to not only John, but to Daisy’s parents too…. And it also seems that there’s more going on than “just” her mother’s death….
And just when i thought i had enough on my plate to deal with, there’s another cliffhanger….and this one is KILLING ME!! Do i really have to wait until October to get the answers i need in Retribution??
After Degradation left me dangling over an emotional cliff like Mufasa in the Lion King, I needed Provocation. NEEDED it. And did Kyra Alessy comfort me? Let me breathe? Give my poor heart a break? No. She said: “Here’s more trauma, more spice, and oh, btw, here’s a character calling Daisy perfect and seeing her in ways she can’t even see herself. ENJOY THAT.”
Cue me ugly crying into a bag of chips at 1am while whispering “Shade, you sweet manipulative gremlin, I love you.”
Daisy is everything. Autistic, brilliant, emotionally evolving, and so deeply real it hurts. The growth? The strength? The way she’s healing but still fighting her demons (and let’s be honest, a few external ones too)? We stan. We sob. We want to wrap her in a weighted blanket and a team of morally questionable boyfriends. She’s been through enough to qualify for a frequent flyer trauma card, and yet she still keeps rising. Queen behaviour.
Let’s roll call the harem: 🔥 Shade – A sneaky strategist who could outmaneuver a chess grandmaster AND your therapist. 🐻 Mav – Emotional support bear with a heart of gold and eyes that read every micro-expression like a walking lie detector. 💔 Blake – The emotional glow-up of the century. He’ll break bones or break into tears, depending on the scene, and either way I’m here for it.
The vibes are: ✔️ Dark academia but make it feral ✔️ Found family with knives ✔️ Emotional healing via spicy group hugs ✔️ Who TF is leaving Daisy notes and can I punch them?
The ending? Oh you mean the soul-shattering, WTF-just-happened moment where I nearly threw my Kindle out the window? Yeah. That one. Kyra, if you see this how DARE you. Also I love you. Never stop.
Now excuse me while I sit in a corner refreshing the page for Retribution and wondering how many emotional breakdowns I can fit into one series.
Final thoughts:
I laughed, I cried, I screamed “NOOOOOOO” into the void. Would I read it again? Absolutely. Would I survive it again? Emotionally? No. But spiritually? Yes. Because pain builds character and I now have enough character development to write my own trauma series.
10/10, emotionally unstable, no notes (except the secret creepy ones Daisy keeps getting).!
After the end of the last book I could NOT wait to jump into this!
Daisy is sooo not playing nice now and I just love her! I like her characteristics, quirky ways and her smartness. The way she truthfully says things how they are is utterly amusing. Go Daisy!! 👊 The relationship dynamics with the guys has developed into a strong heartfelt romance and the bond between them all is only getting stronger with all that is happening around them.
I really am intrigued to find out who her stalker is as they seem to be upping the game. This book kept me in suspense from start to finish and …. that ending!!! It was a great Cliffie to end on and I can’t wait for more!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I am blown away again in book 3! The story is intriguing and spicy with so much character growth!
You need to read the previous books before this one. Distortion and Degradation. Both previous books end in a cliffhanger so be ready to dive straight into the next book!
Daisy was sent away to England to a place that was supposed to “fix” her autism. She is left there being mistreated until her mother dies. Her stepfather brings her back for the funeral and allows her to remain and go to college. LOTS of things happen from there but I don’t want to leave spoilers. Just know it’s crazy, a little sad and a little spicy. Enter cliffhanger and you grab book 2. The storyline continues as the main characters deal with lots of outside issues and also some growth within their unit. This one also ends in a cliffhanger that will leave you hanging thinking noooo! Now we are onto to book 3 and we get some answers, lots more questions and some seriously sweet moments.
Daisy is an amazing FMC. She is brilliant, growing emotionally and incredibly strong. Shade is cunning and knows how to play the game with his family to keep Daisy as safe as she can be. Mav is a giant teddy bear and the way he can see Daisy’s tells is amazing. Blake can knock you down with his fists or his heart. The way he has grown throughout the series is just fantastic. Together they are a family and I’m here for it all!
This book has spice but it’s such a good balance with the storyline and the timing isn’t forced to just throw in some spice. The psychological thriller aspects are well thought out and I’m left still wondering who is leaving the notes. I’m also left anticipating how the villains will be taken care of and hoping that it’s painful! 🤣
Loving this series, so good, I really feel for Daisy tho, having no autonomy. She is definitely caught between a rock and a hard place with only limited help from the guys. Shade is a big help now they’ve got past misunderstandings and her and Mav work well together. Her stepfather John is truly evil, wouldn’t be surprised at all to discover he had a hand in her mother’s death. Need to find out more on his motives for treating Daisy so badly and why he wants to marry her into the awful Banderville family. I’m sure they have -land to make Daisys life hell. Daisy may. It get all the nuances of social interactions but she’s highly intelligent and won’t let anyone disrespect her. The guys are so good with her, now they’ve got past understand her condition more. Some sizzling hot scenes between them all, Shade is now my favourite tho he wasn’t at all initially. That en7tho, desperately need to know what happens next after that cliffhanger. An amazing read.
In the 3rd installment of Daisy's story, the author pulled all my strings with the visible growth of Daisy 's character and her growing connection with the boys. Each in their own way fit perfectly into the relationship with her. In his cruel way ,her stepfather adds more tension,"selling" her in an arranged marriage with a vile family. But Daisy and the boys have their own plans... Excelent world building, well-developed and multilayered characters and a rich and imaginative overarching plot makes this an absolute MUST READ! Special mention to the author' s sensitivity in portraying the difficulties of a neurodivergent person.
Provocation seamlessly begins where Degradation left off. Daisy and the guys have so many curveballs thrown at them this time around that you have no idea how there could possibly be anything left to be thrown. Until BOOM! from left field comes another insane cliffhanger.
Lots of spice, steam, and naughty things to fill time between the highs and lows that always seem to surround Daisy and her crew. When you have no idea what tomorrow will bring, make everything you do today worth remembering when the dark days return.
I’ve loved every book so far but book 3 takes the cake! There is no way I’m going to be able to wait for the next one with that ending. The amount of spice in the book is perfect with the overall plot. The character development is so good, and am looking forward to see whah happens next :) reminder to check trigger warning’s as some topics are hard to read through. Literally finished this book in 2 hours!
After the way degradation left off I was counting the days until this release! And wow, did she deliver! From chapter one I was shooketh. Mouth agape, screaming at my phone, and chanting “no absolutley not!” But holy shit! This cliffy?!! She’s a steep one! Pretty pretty please can we have book 4?! 😂
I fall more in love with These characters every single book. Please if you live twisty, heart pounding, steamy, taboo books read this series!
I need more!! I feel like I’ve been flying through this series! It’s so good that it’s hard to put down!
I love the relationships that are building between Daisy and the guys. I’m still waiting for her to tell them about the Heath!! Like it needs to happen asap.
And the cliffhanger!!! Omg! I need the next one now!!!
Daisy is finally aging confidence and coming into her own! All is not smooth with an unforeseen engagement, a mystery stalker and a detective who is far too involved. I’m hoping this is a realistic portrayal of a neurodivergent person. Such a hard road, but love finds a way!
The 3rd book in the Den of deception is just as good as the others. One of those dark romance books that you can't put down. It's an academic why choose romance with so many triggers, but worth the read. And it's ends with a cliff hanger 😭. Can't wait for the next book. I recommend this book to the dark romance lovers
Fair warning: Do not read this if you have anything else to do today, including getting a full night of sleep! Kyra’s talent for storytelling excels in this third book in her Den of Deception series and you’ll suddenly realize it’s 3am and you’ve been deliciously reminded why she’s one of your favorite authors. In a genre overloaded with repetitive stories, forgettable characters and shallow world building, Kyra’s Den of Deception series shines with fresh perspective, deep layers of world building and characters whose story arches achieve the perfect balance of realism and engaging to keep you reading long after you should have gone to bed!
As an obsessive reader I don’t often start a series until it’s finished, but when given the chance for an ARC of Kyra’s latest book I couldn’t resist. I’m so glad I did and if you’re wondering if you should too… the answer is HELL YES! 🙌🔥
I struggled to get into this series, as much of book 1 is dedicated to establishing Daisy’s experience and challenges as an autistic young woman emerging from a decade in an archaic inpatient facility. However, Kyra’s character development and commitment to authentically conveying the perspective and social reality faced by neurodivergent people that leaves you emotionally invested and rooting for Daisy. Book 2 is where the spice finally starts in earnest and if you’re a fan of reverse harems … don’t read in public. We also start to see Daisy emerge and her confidence grows as her academic success and relationships with the three men solidify while further mystery around her mothers death and her childhood come to light and putting her in danger. Book 3 begins with a bombshell driving Daisy and her three men to take action. Kyra’s talent for character development shines in this third book, as the background and history of her three men are revealed and - unlike so many books in the RH genre - Shade, Mav & Blake are fully developed presenting truly unique characters. The spice in book 3 really steps up 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ but adds to the relationship development without overshadowing because it’s a truly good story. As many of the mysteries and challenges of books 1 & 2 are resolved, deeper and bigger dangers are revealed. Leaving us with a cliffhanger that I guarantee will have you joining me in as we impatiently await books 4 & 5.
I was so excited to finally read Provocation, there were so many questions at the end of book two, I was kinda hoping we would;d get some answers to. Nope, instead we got more questions on what is happening.
Daisy and the guys are getting closer, their relationship is growing deeper between them. When Blake tells Daisy, "I might not be your boyfriend, but you're my girlfriend." I thought that was the sweetest thing he could've said. And then Shade telling her, "We're family, Daisy. All four of us. Always." These guys were making me so emotional with all their affection towards her.
We still don't know much about the person stalking Daisy, but his actions are progressing dangerously. After Dasy received a note at the gala, then she and the guys finding out what happened to Detective Black. "Detective Black was just found in the alleyway outside. With a knife through his chest. That's a bit scary. What is this person's real reason for doing all this? Also, that mini confession Daisy got from John about how much he loved her mother and how much he despised her and her father. And then him saying he does not have any memory of what happened the night of the accident that involved her mother. It got me wondering, was he truly involved, or is someone else, and is this much bigger than what we thought?
Who the hell blew up the club while Daisy was still inside? I hope she's okay; everything with her and the guys was finally perfect. They spent and had an amazing Christmas together.
Also, Joe, his brother Marcus, and their father need to be six feet under, as well as John. I despise all of them.
Kyra, you devious genius, these cliffhangers got me in a chokehold!
The mystery continues to deepen and the murders pile up. Daisy's father, her mother, that boy in middle school, a couple more in-book. I'm on the edge of my seat and have a few theories. This is probably the most suspenseful series I've read by this author with the lowest amount of bullying (so far contained to and resolved in the first book).
More villains slink from the shadows with every book and the spice remains on-point amidst the danger and intrigue. I really hope Lizzie gets an HEA by the end and still anticipating the fall out from when the guys eventually earn about The Heath.
Because it's much lower bullying, there hasn't been that deep gut punch of realizing just how much they've hurt a person who not only didn't deserve it, but who has been through copious trauma prior and whom they've come to love. As much as I love those moments in Kyra's work, this series is a nice shift of pace. Less cruel much sooner. I'm enjoying the characters working to develop trust and deepen their relationships while facing outside foes. The trust-building has a layer of nuance. I recommend whether new to this author or acquainted with her work. This is a series to follow.
We are once again back with Daisy and the guys. The series continues to be a mouthwatering piece of beauty. It pulls you in and keeps you glued to it from the very beginning. Daisy, Shade, Mav, and Blake are growing closer and I absolutely love that we get to be on this journey with their relationship. This story is packed full of drama, suspense, and action. I love in this one we see Daisy growing and developing a side that we are not used to seeing from her. She is so real and down to earth. Her mind is brilliant and the way she thinks things through will leave you speechless. I also love how we get to see and learn so much more about the guys and their lives. It makes you feel so close to all the beautiful people that you feel like you are walking alongside a friend. There are moments that we see in the story that will break your heart as well as you have moments that you can’t stop smiling. The story is extremely well written and developed. Oh then we get to the end of this book and I am blown away with the cliffhanger. I absolutely cannot wait to see what happens next.
I just read all 3 books in the series in a matter of days. I couldn’t put it down. Every second of my days, when I wasn’t working or tending to my children, I was reading this series.
The series takes place in a college setting, and it follows the story of Daisy, Shade, Mav, and Blake. This is the 3rd book in the series, so you’ve already gone through the trials and tribulations to get to where they are in this point in their relationship. I don’t honestly want to dive too much into it in case you haven’t read the other two books. I honestly think that she did an amazing job representing Daisy. It’s not every day that you see the FMC be autistic. I also love how protective her men are of her. I am very curious to find out where the rest of this goes. I am eagerly waiting for the rest of the series. I believe it’s a must-read.
I received this book as an ARC. I am not paid for my views. This is my honest thoughts on the book.
This is the third book in a series following an Autistic FMC, Daisy, and three men who would burn the world for her. Daisy is an amazing character who is easy to relate to. She has had years of trauma in an ABA center, but now she is in college and is regaining her autonomy. Daisy is becoming closer to her stepbrother, Shade, and his two best friends, Mav and Blake. She has come to trust them, and she has become their world. These guys would do anything for her.
Unfortunately, her stepfather is still her guardian, which means he still has significant control over her life. He has money and power, so there is only so much Shade and the others can do to help her. Their only plan so far is to try and make enough money to leave together. On top of that, another rich family also has plans that involve Daisy, and there is a stalker both threatening her and encouraging her to discover more about her mother's death. I love this series and can't wait for the next book to come out.
You must read books 1 and 2 to understand this one. This book continues where book 2 ended. Daisy finds out she has to marry the brother of one of her bullies. She has no way out since her stepfather is her guardian due to her condition. While she is dealing with that she is helping her love interests with their special project. She is also now dealing with a detective bothering her and bringing up stuff about her father's death she didn't know. Oh, she also has a stalker. This series has got me riveted. This book just keeps giving you more questions than answers. We get to meet Daisy's potential fiancée who is a real winner. In this book, it really shows how Daisy's condition makes it very difficult for her with normal scenarios like death, love, and flirting. The plot is very exciting with some twists. I thought I figured the stalker but he ends up dying. The plot just keeps you guessing in some areas. Especially with the ending. I didn't see that coming and now I have to wait for book 4. Overall, an awesome read that I would suggest to anyone.
Provocation was much needed after that cliffy of Degradation. I absolutely cannot get enough of Daisy, Shade, Mav, and Blake’s story. Seeing Daisy take her life back one baby step at a time in this book is healing after finding more things out about what her character went through. The guys open up more on their backstory’s as well making you fall even harder in love with them. Things get spicier and more wild in Provocation. This time— Daisy’s stalker amps things up making the suspense and mystery all the greater. I’m already chomping at the bit to read the next in the series in October! What a wonderfully done series because I find myself looking forward to the next books even more each time.
Thank you Kyra for providing me an eARC to review. All thoughts and opinions are honest and my own.
Omg! I devoured this book! I am in love with Daisy, Shade, Blake and Mav, their relationship develops so much in this and they all realise that secrets are going to break them. Plus Daisy discovers that lying has consequences and that they are a little too intense. John Novelle continues to be a total piece of work, but in addition to him and his machinations, there is also Joe and Marcus, who made me want to punch something. The notes from Daisy’s stalker continues but now there’s no mistaking how dangerous he is! This is still the best neurodivergent character I’ve read in a long time, and I love, love, love how the guys adapt to meet Daisy’s unique needs. I need the next book! Need!
What a fantastic continuation! The series is only getting more intense and better! I was invested from start to finish! There was danger, mystery, some action, and humor sprinkled throughout. We also get more secrets, new secrets, and even some revelations.
I have loved Daisy throughout the whole series, but she really shines in this book. Seeing her growth and becoming more confident, makes me so proud. Im loving Mav, Blake, and Shade even more. I love how protective they are. They love Daisy and value her for who she is. The relationships between her and the guys are deepening and we get even more spice.
Now, that ending!!!! I do not accept that!!! Oh my goodness, I need book 4 as soon as possible!!!
Oh how I’ve missed this series. This FMC is probably one of my all time favorites. I’m going to get real for a second. When bad things happened and she genuinely thought it was her fault, I felt it. I was not expecting such a serious moment to be so relatable. Not even on the scale of bad that she’s enduring but just that feeling of being at fault. That feeling of not being correct or always doing something wrong unknowingly. I will say this left me with even more questions and didn’t really answer any of my previous ones. I cannot wait for the next book because I NEED ANSWERS after that cliffhanger ending.
Provocation is the third book in the Den of Deception series- as always, there’s another brutal cliffhanger at the end of this book that has me itching for the next release!
Please review trigger warnings prior to reading as this is a dark, why choose in a college setting.
As the main characters face several different outside threats, their relationships have deepened and strengthened. Several plot points were expanded upon in this book that has me anxious to see what happens next!
***I received this book as an ARC and am leaving a voluntary review- thank you to the author and her team!***
Kyra and her dang cliffhangers!! She is killing me!! Lol anyway! Wow daisy is growing more and more in each book and starting to really stand up for herself more. The guys are long past developing feelings for her. They are totally head over heels in love with her. The guys are trying to get her out of this awful situation that her step father has gotten her into. I cant wait to see how they get her out of her step father's clutches. Still have no clue who the stalker is and its driving me nuts!
I don't know where to even start after that brutal cliffhanger but here it goes… Book 3 starts up right where book 2 left off and it quickly becomes just as addicting to read from the very first page. I really enjoyed seeing Daisy learn to stick up for herself more but man can that poor girl catch a break. On another note I loved seeing the boys get closer with Daisy and the sweet things they do for her and can’t wait to see more of their protective and possessiveness especially after that ending which has me going slightly crazy but I can’t wait for the next book!
Kyra does such an amazing job at leaving us on cliff hangers begging for more but THIS ONE!!! This one has me on pins and needles dying to know what the end result will be!! I cannot wait for the next installment and will likely be chomping at the bit until October.
I can’t help but say that the Christmas scenes were probably my favorite. The momentum of the day couldn’t have gone better after the Thanksgiving fiasco. Granted… Christmas was one too but still a good day beforehand at least.
Provocation by Kyra Alessy totally pulled me in. I loved watching Daisy grow from someone who was underestimated into a woman who knows her worth and takes no nonsense. It was so refreshing to see a strong, neurodivergent main character who has shown why she shouldn't be treated like she’s broken when she's so much more. She’s powerful, smart, and absolutely unforgettable. This book is bold, intense, and seriously hard to put down!
Okay, I made it through the first two book's cliffhangers and book three picks up and starts messing with you right away. You do need to read the first two books. Be prepared for plot twists, humor, sadness, character growth, evil, goodness and spice. Richly described characters and locations gave me the feeling of being within each scene. This series is so well written with amazing content in each book. Enjoy.
Book 3 yes you do need to read them in order. Book 3 pick up right back up on the cliffhanger that Book 2 give us. It still full of spice and Daisy is learning more about what she like with the guys. Daisy is now being forced into arrange marriage to abuse rich guy her step father been planning for awhile. Stalker still out to get her and the guys are now making the drug they need to make thanks to Daisy formula. This cliffhanger was just cruel again but hopefully Book 4 be out soon.
