Never in a million years would I have thought my life would look like what it does today. If I told my younger self that I not only love to read but that I write books for a living … well let’s just say we would be attending her funeral. Books will forever hold a special place in my heart. At the age of nineteen, I immersed myself in the world of fiction and was lucky enough to be dragged out of a dark abyss. Books have been there for me through thick and thin, helping shape the person I am today and I hope for some, my books will do the same. In whatever capacity that may be.

Heir of Broken Souls is 100% a 6 ⭐️ read. I had to put this down multiple times to cry and stare at a wall.

From the ending of HOBK, I knew that this book would be heavy. HOBS truly gave us an insight into how differently people deal with grief and betrayal. Certain characters had such a visceral reaction, while others did not react in the way you would expect. It was gut wrenching to see our favourite characters go through even more pain after being destroyed at every twist and turn.

That being said, watching the bond of Knox and Delilah develop even further was the balm that my heart needed while reading. Their bond and their love is so beautifully written.

✨ “Maybe you still don’t get it, Delilah. I would burn the world for you. And do it with a smile on my face.”✨

Heir of Broken Souls is full of beautiful world building, new demonic creatures, prophecies, secrets, constant wars, more betrayals and plot twist after plot twist. I truly don’t have the words to explain how incredible this book is.

Thank you so much Mads for letting me ARC read for you. It was an honour. I will be patiently waiting for the next book as you have once again successfully destroyed me with the ending.

Adored this book and am so glad I stumbled upon this series.
I've been waiting for the third book since the ending of the second and Mads did not disappoint.

From the different elements of magic, world building, character development, found family to the insane plot twists that keep you guessing.

One of the main highlights for this series is the world building - it's easy to follow and not at all confusing which makes it all the more enjoyable.

And the ending...

I cannot wait for the fourth and final book to see how everything plays out!

Getting an ARC was super fun and exciting. I really enjoyed this book. The plot was so addictive. And the pacing was amazing! I flew through this book in less than 3 days! I also really liked how the author handled the heavy topics in this book. She also did a really good job at showing the emotions of Knox. I loved it!

I wanted to give this book a higher rating but I had two problems with this book. The first was the repetitive scenes. I felt like I was reading different versions of the same scene throughout the book. The second was Delilah got on my nerves at times. Generally I really like her as a character but I didn’t love all the decisions she made in this book. But I loved the ending!! I can’t wait for the next book!

Absolutely incredible.

I am going to need several business days to recover from this before I can even form a coherent sentence to accurately describe what I’ve just been through.

Okay, updated thoughts:

Mads you have knocked it out of the park again!! This series just keeps getting better and better. You have a way of sucking me in and making me connect with the characters.

This book went on a journey I was not expecting and I went through every emotion possible!

I cannot wait for the next book!

Wow!!
I loved the first two books but this one has just added so much to the story.
Twists you didn’t see coming, strong story line and an amazing found family. Not to mention a romance to die for (possibly literally), the ability of Mads to make sure each book is standout is amazing this book doesn’t feel like it drags or repeats however we are getting everything we loved from the first two books. And the end my god I need time to recover like give me the fourth book now and keep them coming!!!

5⭐️ (kindle)

I’m not even sure where to start but as always I’m blown away!!! I was lucky enough to get the beta read back at the beginning of December and this book hasn’t left my thoughts since! And then to be able to get the ARC, I was over the moon!

This book hasn’t left you hooked right from the beginning, there’s always something going on and keeps that tension building all the way through!

“Open your eyes and come alive, golden one. It’s time for their demise.”

I’m also just m obsessed with Knox and Delilah! They are seriously one of my favourite book couples and people really need to talk more about it!

“As one?” I ask. “As one,” he vows” 🥹🧎🏻‍♀️‍➡️

The ending is just out of this world, was the last thing I ever expected, so many emotions and it makes me so excited for what’s to come!!!! 💖💖

I am obsessed with Mads and everything she writes. The found family, the plot, the characters and world are always written to perfection. The sensitive topics in this book were handled faultlessly and the plot twists always had me guessing which made this such an easy 5⭐️.

I don’t think Mads has written a book that I have rated under 5 ⭐️ I couldn’t recommend this series enough to anyone, I need book 4 immediately!! Thank you Mads for the arc🫶🏻

📗Ok the start was hard, trying to catch up on what had happened since the end of last book.
📗K & D just being so defeated was depressing, they didn’t really seem to have any fight - not sure if I was a bit over this in the end.
📗 Wow I love that the story really started to unravel with some of the mysteries been solved.
📗The last 1/4 of the book had me so engaged on what was going to happen.
📗The cliffhangers in this series are no joke

Mads, these endings are KILLING ME 😭 I'd been waiting with bated breath hoping for some part of that ending to come true and now I have it, I NEED MORE.

This was a beautiful third addition to the series, focusing on how individuals process grief and I had a lot of fun watching them go straight for revenge. I love all these characters so much, I've never felt so attached in a long time, when they feel pain, I feel pain 💔

Delilah is easily a favourite FMC of mine, she is so powerful and protective of the ones she loves. She doesn't shy from danger, she runs straight towards it and that is the exact FMC I expect in a fantasy. She's phenomenal! And that big reveal near the end regarding her prophecy!? AAH

This book series is just getting better and better, I am so desperate for book four now, I can't wait for updates!

Revenge. Reckoning. Ruin.

Book three in the Heir of Broken Fates series picks up right where book two left off, and I was more than ready to slip back into this world with Delilah and Knox. The emotional stakes are high, and this installment brings plenty of heavy lessons, heartbreak, and choices that will shape the fate of their court. The tension is real, and the prophecy element adds an intriguing new layer.

That said, I did struggle a bit—some scenes felt rushed or jumped without much warning, which left me confused at times. I’m not sure if it was the writing style or just my headspace, but it slowed my pace. Thankfully, the last 40% picked up and pulled me back in. The writing itself is stunning—rich, vivid, and poetic in all the right places. You can tell the author was writing from experience, pouring healing and truth into the emotional moments. That depth really shines through.

Overall, a solid continuation of the series with some beautiful and raw moments, even if the pacing tripped me up now and then. If you’re a fan of romantasy with heart and grit, this series is worth diving into.

So… the first book was awesome. I was excited that the story seemed new and different from all the other fantasies of late. The second book was ok. Long, got me tired, but it wasn’t a hardship to finish. This third book however?! It was hard. I didn’t DNF because I thought I was getting the end.
But to my surprise, NO! There’s another one.
The villain is no longer so scary, things no longer make that much sense… they are tired of fighting and you’re tired of reading.
I won’t know the end of the story and honestly? I don’t even care at this point

Thank you Mads for the ARC 🫶🏼 Getting to read this early was so fun because I love this series so much 🥰 This book was an addictive rollercoaster of plot twists that kept me on the edge of my seat. Delilah and Knox's relationship is beautifully developed, but that cliffhanger ending? Brutal! I need the next book ASAP to recover 🙏

I literally will not survive this book. I couldn't sleep wanting to finish the book, so I finished it at 2am (not a good idea). It was so hard to get to sleep with that cliffhanger. And there is no release date for the 4th book!

Anyways, on to the review.

This is an amazing book with all the plot twists and everything. I am on Axel's side though, I don't know if we can trust Elysia.

I cried during this book and I don't cry when reading books! This was so sad. When Axel almost died, I teared up. When I thought Lenox had died I was crying so hard, Lenox is so nice! Even though he had changed after Ace's "death", he still helped Delilah with flying because she is his family!

I love Knox! I will not stress that enough! Knox's and Delilah's relationship is so cute and pure. (books give too high expectations for real life.)

Ok, lets talk about that ending! WHAT THE HECK!! ACE IS ALIVE! I mean "Yay!" but what the heck, what am I supposed to do with my life now! I love Ace, he is such a nice character and it was so sad when he died. Also, I can't wait for Axel's reaction. But I am sitting here not knowing what to do with my life. I just can't.

I came up with a "theory" that I hope isn't true, I think. It is emphasized that Ace and Easton look identical, what if Ace at the end is Easton? I may be very wrong, but that is an idea.

Moral of the story, big HUMONGOUS cliffhanger, that I will die because of. Knox is the best book bf. I have trust issues. And it was an amazing book!

Look, this book was just okay. But the ending did get me.

It was a bit more repetitive than the first two, but I can see how this one is more of a filler book leading up to the big finale (however it had the potential to just be trilogy I think). But I liked the exploration of different characters each book so far and the little splashes of humour throughout this one were appreciated on my end, they made the more dark vibe Mads was going for have a little peak of light. But I will say, the writing did stumble a bit, particularly with the consistent use of some words and descriptions that kept popping up.

I think this book and series is for anyone looking for a simple fantasy world to dive into, and I think especially if you are into the booktok fantasy recommendations.

not 3 of 3

Kindle says it’s book 3 of 3. It ends on a cliffhanger.
Book 3 is a bunch of babble. The main characters keep making the same mistakes over and over .
Once again FMC is THE most powerful being in existence , but she can’t of won’t use it when the world is on the line so she’s constantly getting captured and putting everyone at risk.
Even if there were a fourth book, I don’t think I would bother with it.

**** ARC Review****
I devoured books one and two when I first read them. Both were 5 star reads for me and I pretty much begged Mads on social medial about the third book lol so I’ve been waiting for this book for what feels like forever. I’m sure you can imagine I was SO happy when I was chosen to get to ARC read this book. So with that being said, I want to give Mads so many thanks for this opportunity!

This book picked up right where book two left off. I hate when I start a new book in a series and I’m having to spend the first little bit trying to figure out the time lapse or how the author got from the end of the previous book to where they started the new book, that was not the case here.

This pace of this book was go, go, go from beginning until the end. It felt like there was very few “rest” times. The plot definitely took an interesting twist. I would have to say that my two biggest complaints are 1.) there seems to be no personal character growth for any of the characters. Power and magic - sure, but Delilah appears to be the same as she was in book one. Very fragile, bogged down with emotions that she bottles up until she explodes with rage and then 2.) Delilah and Knox’s. Relationship seems to have plateaued. It was all pretty much the same throughout the book - one of them would go through self loathing and the other would send warm thoughts down the bond. Other than that, don’t get me wrong, Knox is still perfection. While this book still has some spice in it, I will say it’s not quite as spicy as the previous books, but there’s so much going on I barley noticed.

Given the way book two ended, the tension in the found family in this book was executed perfectly. At times, it was difficult to read - not because of any triggers or anything like that but because it’s just heartbreaking to see such turmoil between loved ones. But I imagine if something like this really happened, this is what the household would look like.

This book pulled such a wide rage of emotions out of me while reading. There were several twists that I wasn’t expecting and the end has me excited/confused/reeling all at the same time! I will admit, I am a little nervous learning that this wasn’t the last book. As most readers know the longer a series goes on, the harder it gets to keep up the plot but I have faith that Mads will bring this story to a perfect end. I absolutely do (and have) recommend this series to anyone who loves the fantasy/romantacy genre.

I received an advanced reader copy of this book for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

3.5-4⭐️ (truly torn..)
2🌶️

I’m going to start out with 2 things.

1) I truly love this series and it kills me to give a slightly lower score but I will explain my reasonings below
2) I honestly thought this was going to be a trilogy and so I think it impacted my reading throughout the book, giving me frustrations, only to find out…it isn’t a trilogy lol

Again, I have LOVED this series and the characters built. Knox is honestly one of my top green flag book boyfriends ever! But I think because I went into it thinking it was the final installment, as I was reading, I thought we were taking so long of useless stuff and was afraid it was going to rush the ending. I’m to the last 30 pages and I’m like come on! We haven’t even gotten to the main bad guy yet in the battle! Then, I finished and went “oh….this isn’t the final book….”

I will say the story got somewhat complicated for me at one point, keeping up with the prophecy and where they are traveling to, etc. eventually, bits and pieces start to connect together but I got a little lost and a tad bored in the middle. Again, this book looking back now is definitely a set up book, but because I didn’t go into it knowing that, I think that’s why I go back and forth on my rating.

The spice 🌶️ I felt was still good but toned back this book. HOWEVER, I can totally understand why because this book definitely deals with a lot about grief and loss that throwing random spice scenes in there wouldn’t make sense, so I’m ok with it. What we did get, Knox…chef’s kiss still with his dialogue. Again, I always like spicy scenes with actual dialogue vs just telling you what’s on the page.

We also continued with our found family theme, which is one of my favorites. Since this book really tackled the theme of grief and loss, we got to see very different sides to our characters though, in a way that takes them out of the one dimensional box most side characters get. We also add in a character or so I’m excited to see where it develops!

The ending…I was jumping up and down and can’t wait to see where the next book takes us! I wasn’t expecting it (obviously lol) but it definitely left me wanting more!

Overall, I didn’t dislike this installment but didn’t love it either. I think it sets more things up but because I didn’t know as I was reading it that more books were coming, that my mind didn’t process it in the way it should. I still can’t wait for book 4 and still love this series and world!

Delilah and Knox’s story continues

I am so disappointed with this book. I really enjoyed the first two books in this series and felt the second was better than the first and this one fell flat for me. I had a hard time getting through it and noticed myself opting to scroll social media or listen to my audiobook instead of reading. It didn’t grip me the way the first two did. Hopefully things turn back around for the forth book.

I thought the cliff hanger was solid. I figured either she or Knox would be captured in the end, as is pretty standard in a fantasy series, but I didn’t see the twist at the end.

The revelation about Delilah through the prophecy was really predictable and I’m annoyed the characters didn’t consider that earlier, but I’m excited to see where it will go in the next book.

Knox was a huge disappointment. He was overly emotional, self conscious, and unsure of himself. I miss his cocky confidence. He was super mushy with Delilah, and I appreciate the emotional depth that was attempted, but it felt out of character to me.

I thought Axel was written well. His grief and emotional journey was authentic and resonated with me. From the way he responded to his mate, to his substance abuse and trauma, I think he will have a lot of growth in the next book and we see him processing through his grief in a way that is very real.

On a note about the writing, I’ve never seen the word perpendicular used so much outside of a geometry classroom. I found its use distracting from the story line. In addition to other word choice - saying that he sat adjacent to me on the couch… please just say next to. I don’t usually get hung up on things like that, but I use the words perpendicular and adjacent regularly in my job and have never described people standing perpendicular to each other. Once I noticed that there were other things that I picked up in that distracted me from the story that I might not have noticed otherwise — saying they were talking a mile a minute - seems unrealistic for the world, not sure they’re measuring in miles.

Overall the story advanced and we learned a lot about Delilah, Peter, and the world they live in. I think I was ready for the story to wrap up in three books. I love their found family, but found this book sad and depressing.

I dove into this one after skimming the last chapter of Book 2 (don't got the time to reread the whole thing...). I remembered the key events well enough, though I had completely forgotten that the villain’s name is… Peter. I mean, really? Peter? All I could think of was Peter Pettigrew.

Plot-wise, this continues right where the last book left off, but honestly, I’m starting to get fatigued with Delilah’s constant resistance to her power. Like everyone else in the book, I’m also wondering: why is she this powerful? It just keeps escalating with no real explanation until the very end.

And don’t even get me started on the soul bond. I’m over it. Delilah and Knox spend so much time talking about their magical, unbreakable, wondrous soul connection... and apparently it can do everything. The only saving grace is that their relationship isn’t toxic, which is rare enough in this genre, so I’ll give it that.

There were also a few too many typos and confusing sentences scattered throughout, which disrupted the flow. And Delilah really needs to work on her decision making skills... She knew better. She really did. And yet… here we are...

So imagine my disbelief when I hit 99% of the book and realized the series isn’t even over yet. I was hoping for closure, but apparently we’re not done. I was already confused because I could have sworn that I already read the some of the same scenes before... so it's definitely getting a bit repetitive.

All in all, this was a 3-star read for me. Some good moments, but weighed down by frustrating character choices and a plot that’s starting to drag. Still, I’ll probably read the next one because I’m in too deep now.

4.5 ⭐️

This is absolutely my favourite of the three books so far!!

The mix between plot-driven and character-driven story was very well balanced and had me hooked from start to finish.

I absolutely LOVED the development between Knox and Delilah (I am so excited to see them get their happy ending in book
4 - Mads Rafferty I will not accept anything else!!).

I also liked seeing how Axel dealt with his grief in a way that we associate with being very human-like, despite being fae. It shows the reality of coping mechanisms - many of which aren’t healthy - as opposed to solely throwing himself into battles and revenge. It was very well-balanced between the two, no linear path of coming to terms with the loss of his brother and I’m looking forward to reading more about his healing in the fourth book.

Also - him and Elysia - YES GIVE ME MORE!!!

THE ENDING HAD ME GAGGED - WELCOME BACK BBY WE’VE MISSED YOU!!!

The only thing that stopped this book being 5 stars was the 70-85% mark of the book - I was a little lost-overwhelmed with the islands etc. This definitely didn’t detract from the book though 🩷
