That Marcus Blackmore and Ann Somerton first met in a laboratory was fitting-they were about to become living proof that opposites do attract. Though it took a small mouse named Serendipity to mix things up, nature then took over...
Which is how a highly organized cleaning woman fell in love and moved in with an absentminded scientist. And how, after further investigation, they discovered there was nothing more elemental than their need for each other.
I have had my eye on this book for a while and when I couldn't find it anywhere, my being stuck at home led to me spending way too much money buying used books (they are as good as new) off Amazon. This was a delightful little read where the romance doesn't follow a straight-line. The heroine is on an independence streak after her divorce, cleaning offices in the night and studying in the morning to get her computer degree. She never counted on her wanting to save a mouse named Serendipity would make her run into Marcus, the scientist hero that would end up with a crazy first date and her falling asleep on his bed. The hero is a genius and gets so absorbed in his work that he forgets meetings. However he is a delightful hero, unabashed about his interest in the heroine, taking interest in her interests and friends; listening to her and getting her a dog and showing how he feels about her in a hundred different ways. He is there for her when it counts and I loved their unusual romance.
I order a hardcopy of this book because it is not in e form yet and the hero was highly recommended as one of kind.
He is certainly is: absent minded to the point of fascination, sweet, flowery dirty talk, alpha, genius, thoughtful, messy, and kind.
The heroine is wonderful as well: practical, working class, bookworm, barbed, reflective, and loving.
There is also a dog and a mouse to to love.
There are times when the book feels a bit dated but really it is a wonderful, real, and tender romance about loving exactly who a person is and listening.
I absolutely love this book, it is one of my favorites. I think it is a great book that mixes love and humor. Some of the scenes are hilarious. The characters are great and are perfect for each other. I would recommend this book to anyone that loves a good romance story.
My sister either gave me this book in the 1980s or I bought it at a yard sale in the same decade. I loved the book but lost my copy years ago. I was trying to find it online but the only thing I could remember was the title, what the cover looks like, and that it was a romance novel. I finally found it on here and will be buying a new copy. 🥰
