Ten minute read. Something to do when you are in the middle of the wandering inn

Eh, 3 for idea. 3 for execution. 4 for art.

Kids book? No, subject matter is not really appropriate. Too short for an adult reader. No idea who the target is with this slight story.

Such an unusual book—under Dustin, it fits under many categories: zombies, dystopia, allegory, animal, on and on.

Watson is the main character and the first person narrator and a cat. The zombie apocalypse hits, his human doesn’t make it, and Watson ends up creating a new ragtag family that has to figure out how to survive.

It is not gory but this is not a book for kids, even if the animals can all talk to one another.

So cute! As short story that starts with a cat surviving a zombie attack on his human. Now, the world is full of zombies, and he is alone and hungry. Watson strikes out alone, and meets a Saint Bernard who saves him from an evil human (not undead.) But, Rex has a problem...when zombies attacked his farm, he promised a mother cat he would take care of her surviving baby...but how does a dog do that?
Watson's not so sure either, but they decide to walk to a shelter Rex knows about. Along the way they meet a turtle (either 84 or 85 years old) and rescue a young girl after her family was attacked. The story ends before they get to the shelter, but Watson learns that he has love, family and friends. No animals were harmed in the writing of this book.

I love the originality behind this idea. Plus some of the twists and turns were actually pretty clever especially given the short length of the story.

I set my sights a little too high on this and I guess the sweetness of the concept and the bleakness of the subject matter of a zombie apocalypse was always going to be jarring but you know what? In the end I had some fun with this.

Plus you CANNOT beat the dedications from the author at the end of this book plus I kind of really like the overarching message

I'm giving it a 1 star specifically for the audiobook. unfortunately that is how I consumed this book, so that is what I have to go with.

The book is narrated by AI and it is painfully obvious. it is constantly mispronouncing words. And some sentences are choppy in cadence.

story wise I can't even say it was good. I got the impression that a child wrote the book. It's really hard to explain. It's kind of like a bunch of random thoughts thrown on a page. Sort of like how a toddler speaks.

Bottom line I hated everything about it.

What did people like about this?

Wow what an underwhelming story. With its simple sentence structure and straightforward plot that tells and hardly ever shows you how the story is unfolding I would think this would be a good book for kids, but then there is an abundance of tragically and death as you expect from a zombie novel.

In the end I'm left thinking to myself why did I waste my time on this book? Also don't slap someone in the face when they are having a panic attack.

A Flipping Good Read

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, I was in that lull where you’ve just finished a book and worry what to read next, this book filled that void perfectly. The characters felt so real, their worries and concerns quite believable. The author portrayed each character perfectly. The only downside was the length of the book, once you get to know the characters you just want to read more.

I NEED MORE!!!!! We have to know what's next. What a great short story with characters we all would love to have as friends and some we wouldn't want to meet in a dark alley. Oh, and there's a sassy turtle.

Totally new Take on Zombies

Read this delightful story in one night. Like how author applied the science of pigs and primates being closely related to humans. Most interesting viewpoint on the end of times. Enjoy¡!!!!!!!

Simple but touching

This book was an apocalyptic story, told from the insight and unique interpretation provided by a cat. The input changes over time as new ‘beings’ join the group. Heart-warming and well written. Illustrations are excellent.

I'm not really a fan of zombies, but I thought this sounded interesting and I'm very glad I took a chance on it. I loved it. Watson and Rex are such great characters. It was sad, yet hopeful and slightly humorous. The illustrations were great too. It was fast paced and very well written.

It's so cuuuute! Okay, there's zombies, but it also has a cat named Watson, and... you know, this book is so short, everything's a spoiler. It's so adorable! The artwork is so good. Just read it!

Short and sweet! Definitely a YA novella, but still a cute little read and a nice distraction. It was free on audible.
