What are the things that you need most in life—the things you crave?

Solara longs for freedom. Having been raised under the Kingdom’s lock and key since the age of two, she wants to see the world. Upon turning seventeen and receiving no mark from the Lord, she believes freedom is finally within her grasp. Unfortunately, she is wrong. The Kingdom has been fooled. She is marked by an angel of light and one of the fallen dark ones. Solara is God’s chosen, and with her birth, the new covenant made with mankind is made manifest.

Solara also longs for love, strong enough to last a lifetime, and beyond. Riven loves her. But is one of the fallen prophesied to betray the chosen. Can she trust him? Love him? Prophesy states that she is the key. The fate of humanity rests with her decision. She alone will determine whether the doors of Heaven or the gates of Hell open upon the Earth.

But how can a normal girl, who has been raised with no knowledge of either side, make such a decision? And how can she turn away from finally tasting those things she has craved for so long.

RONE Award-winning author Casey Bond lives on a rural farm in West Virginia with her husband and their two beautiful daughters. She writes phoenixes – gloriously flawed and morally gray characters that fiercely rise from the ashes of their circumstances.

Worldbuilding is one of her favorite pastimes. She thinks thunderstorms are better than coffee and that watching a meteor shower is the closest thing to magic you might ever see. She’s a firm believer that every amazing book needs a world you want to wrap yourself in, a character you want to win, and a love you would fight for.

Casey is the author of When Wishes Bleed, Gravebriar, House of Eclipses, and Where Oceans Burn.

I was pleasantly surprised by this story. I thought I would enjoy it but I didn’t expect it to pull me in from the very first page the way it did. I really liked the characters but I liked the couple of unexpected twist in the story even more! Pariah was a book that I was eager to read and didn’t want to put down. Would recommend to everyone!

Wow! This book wrapped me in its magical world from the moment I began reading it. I love angel stories and this one was absolutely fantastic. The twists and turns will leave your head spinning (in a very good way). The description of places, characters, ect... made the whole thing even more appealing. As I read I found myself imagining the surroundings and what the characters looked like-- specially Riven-- that boy sounded mighty fine. Well, now that I've finished reading it, I wish I had book two handy because I didn't want the book to end! Yes, it was that good.
I recommend this book with my eyes closed. Trust me, the word disappointment doesn't apply to this book. It was awesome!

I was give a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I lovey Casey and everything she writes so going into this book I knew I would enjoy it. Lots of twist and turns ; tons of surprises. You'll hate a person one minute and then promise to have his babies the next(or vice versa I'm really not at liberty to say;) Anyway, there are so many twist that I don't really want to try and summarize for fear that I will ruin something for you.
Just read the dang book already!

So, when I entered this giveaway, I didn't expect to win. I was so excited that I couldn't go to sleep without at least starting it. I read the prologue, something I almost never do, and was disappointed. The whole religious aspect made me nervous because I've never read one of those types of books. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the main plot of this book didn't revolve around it.
This novel is about Solara, a beautiful girl that's never really experienced life. Days before being released into the real world, her whole life gets turned upside down by the real world. When when embraces it full force, she ends up getting more than she bargained for. Being the God's chosen isn't all it's cracked up to be and she gets overwhelmed with her new role in life.
Overall, I loved this book. Bond makes it so, even though you know something's going to happen, it still ends up surprising you. Also, the romance in it was so deliciously complicated that no matter how hot the men in it were, you wouldn't want to be Solara. The character's changed sides and made it so that you had trouble figuring out what their true intentions were.
When I really got into it, I had trouble stopping. When I went to school, I just wanted to sit there and read it without stopping and I got in trouble. But the story was soo worth it. I would definitely rate this as a 5 out of 5 stars.
There was only one thing I didn't like about this book: it ended with a cliffhanger. It always makes me so mad when I discover an author and a new series that I like, only to have to wait for the next one. It's so infuriating and I don't have the patience for it. bond had better write a sequel fast so I can buy it!!

**I proofread this novel for the author**

I had not idea what I was getting myself into when Ms. Casey asked me to proofread her novel, Pariah. I started working on it and my work was put by the wayside for a moment while the story pulled me. I couldn't make myself slow down to proofread. I read it in a few hours and then I had to sit and wrap head what I had just read. I was like WOW!

I am a huge lover of religion and the spiritual aspect of religion is brought forward in this book. Please don't let that be a turn off. It's not in your face but perfectly weaved into the story. It's beautiful but extremely emotional.

Solara (Lara) is the main character. There are several other main and secondary characters... I won't reveal them as I feel would it be a bit of a spoiler. Lara's life isn't anything like she thought it was going to be. She was being protected from the time she was a small child until she was one day from turning 17... And her life changed as she knew it... She is deceive, lied to, loved, trying to bear all of what is going on all on her own but the one who loves her wants to help her...

I was yelling at the end. Really! I want more!! So yes... It's a semi clifty - unanswered questions at the end.

5 stars for the strength of the characters. They are well developed and you fall in love with some and want to harm others. The story pulls you in and you feel like you are part of the story.

This is a good book, just not for me.

This book was a different take on the fallen angel stories I’ve read. It’s a clean book, and it kept my attention but it’s just not my kind of book. After God almost destroys the earth by fire, a prophecy is made that a beautiful female will be born in the summer, when she turns seventeen if she is the chosen her eyes will change and the mark of both heaven and hell will appear upon her back. The fate of humanity is in her hands. But in these new times life is more strict for women, especially if you were born in the summer months because that made you a potential. If you were a potential you would be taken away from your parents and home when you were very young to live with the other potentials in seclusion, with only a teacher and your guardian/house mom. You are not permitted outside until your unveiling so the men could put applications in on which ever seventeen year old female they would like as a wife, the council with the help of God then chooses who marry’s who. But there are people who don’t want the chosen one to live and the prophecy says she can’t trust anyone and that the chosen will have to carry this burden alone. Can she choose the right path? Will she be able to escape dark angels and crazy stalker suitors?

Such a great book. I absolutely loved it! There is plenty of action and suspense and even a little bit of love all mixed together into an amazing book.

Solara is a girl who is strong, caring, and lovable. She has lived her entire life in a tower and she cannot wait to gain her freedom. It is the one thing she has always dreamt about. She is relieved to be married and out of the tower. She gets much more than she bargains for on her wedding night. Now she has to figure out what is in store for her and how to keep her loved ones safe when she cannot even keep herself safe.

The twins are a contradiction. Riven is caring, strong, and unselfish. He just wants to help Solara. Though in doing so he learns so much about himself like what he really is. Fabric is rude, a jerk, and selfish. Though he tries to play nice for a while. He is the opposite of Riven in every way. He is happy to find out what he truly is and is ready to get Solara.

An amazing read!

I was lucky enough to have won this book. WOW, what a book. At first I was doubtful due to the prologue, but thought I would give it a chance. I'm glad I did. The characters are well developed and the story itself draws you in. I hated to put the book down and was surprised when I finished it, it just didn't last long enough. The plot of the story is awesome and definitely a few twists. I am definitely looking forward to the next book. Solara, the main character, is most definitely not a damsel in distress and more of power to be reckoned wih. She is a strong, non-whiney female lead, who is faced with a life changing event, after she has been sheltered her whole life. This was a great read and a book I would recommend for both young and older adults. If you like fallen angel books, then you should like this.

OH MY GOODNESS!! I can't even explain how much I loved this book although I will try.

I absolutely fell in love with the characters in this book. They were amazing, I felt like I was along for the ride with them. I felt like they became friends. I felt a variety of emotions; happy, sad, frustration, anger, relief, angst, among others. I was sad when the book ended, I cannot wait to see what happens next for Solara. The plot twists had me on the edge of my seat. I had a hard time putting this book down. This book is simply amazing. I highly recommend reading this book, you will not be disappointed. Come on next book in the series!!

It left me wanting more... I can't Wait for the next book!!

There were alot of twists in this book. Some I couldn't believe.. Esp. with Faric and Riven.. WOW!! I was surprised to say the least..

Solara has been kept prisoner for all of her childhood because she is a potential. People have lied to her all her life. Now she must decided who to trust.. She will go through so many things is such a short time.

I'm trying not to give any spoilers but if put what i really want to say i may spoil it... So i will just say.. I loved reading about Solara and all the other characters in the book and can't wait for the next one to see how the story continues..

What an interesting and exciting story line. I just loved Solara and enjoyed following her story. The only thing that threw me off a bit was some of the phrases and slag used seemed to feel out of place. They were modern terms and for me it didn't flow as easily as the other dialog. The twists and turns that the story took I never saw coming. It surprised and excited me. I was on the edge of my seat! This world is so full of back story and I loved discovering the secrets and hope to discover more.

I received this book in a Goodread Giveaway.

I wasn't really sure what to think of the book based on the synopsis. The concept seemed very interesting and it turned out to be. But the dialogue in the book was very awkward sometimes. When Solara would try to be playful or flirtatious it always seemed to take an awkward/uncomfortable turn. The concept of the book was very good and completely different from anything I've read or seen before. I think I would have enjoyed the story much better had it not been for such uncomfortable scenes. That is the main reason for the 3 star rating.

So just read this book. Casey Bond is on my list for an event that I am going to. So before going I wanted to see what amazing people are there! **SPOILERS**
**YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!!**

I would like to say I'm totally in love with some of the characters. I like how there is twins one who is going to be 'evil' the other one seems to be semi good, or at least have her best interest in heart. I knew from the beginning Riven was going to be something amazing. How she would fall for him. Even when he pretended to be Fabric to help her. How they were connected through Annette.

There was a few things that were a bit off for me.

1) Wesley: Feel like the character could have not been in there for all I care. Feel like he didn't 'matter.'

2) A (the evil guy cannot remember his name maybe it was Alistar?) he is just weird. I feel like we need to see more of his back story to really understand him as a character.. For him to be that cruel without an explanation is hard for me to understand.

3) The twins father. Just a filthy pig. Eww hate hi.

4) Cain hope he gets more options in the story.

I will be looking forward to another.

Not for me

This book was OK. It was well written and interesting but I just didn't feel connected to it. I am not sure as to why I didn't enjoy this as much as I expected to.
