Pat Nichols continues to delight and entertain us with her gift of storytelling. I’m a huge fan of her Blue Ridge series and book six, Summer of Second Chances, like the first five, left me longing for the next, and the next in this wonderful series. Book 6 finds the three ladies we met in book one moving on with their lives. But, Gunter just can’t seem to leave them alone. But especially Wendy.
In this latest, Millie is joined by a new group of friends who use their noggins to form a group of investigators. With Millie at the helm, you know anything is possible. Will one of the new members of this group set his cap for our beloved chef? Will she reciprocate those feelings? It’s a sure bet something’s going on.
The lives of our three ladies, Wendy, Amanda, and Erica continue to evolve. Will any of these ladies ever find peace? I’m sure you’re like me . . . waiting with anticipation for book seven and more answers. And oh, that Gunter. I just want to slap him silly! Always causing trouble for one or another of the ladies.
I love this series, and I recommend it highly. Do yourself a favor and read all of them in order. You will be so glad you did. And who doesn’t love a trip to the Blue Ridge Mountains?
The saga of the Awesam ladies in Blue Ridge continues to unfold and add more depth and characters.
Millie is still frustrating although she is beginning to have an interesting tale of her own. There's more baking beneath the surface than just her amazing cinnamon buns.
Erica has finally taken the plunge and accepted Brad's marriage proposal. What happens next depends on how her daughter Abby heals from a spinal cord injury.
Amanda is learning to let go of her past and embrace a potential suitor in politics.
Wendy's story left tears in my eyes as she now has a large family, including two mothers and three siblings when she once was an abandoned child caught in the foster system.
With new characters and new storylines, I can't wait to see what happens next in Blue Ridge.
I received an ARC of this book but all opinions and impressions are mine.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
The saga continues and what a saga it is. However, the storyline expands and it’s not just about the Awesam ladies. It’s good to see new characters and new potential romances.
But, like real life, things don’t always go smoothly for our ladies. All of them are facing challenges and must confront old and new conflicts.
The characters are relatable although the timeframe sometimes seems a little rushed. A lot has happened since Emily, Amanda and Wendy first met. And, of course, Millie, is always there to had her two cents.
This is such an enjoyable read and it’s always fun reconnecting with people you know. Sure hope Pat Nichols continues the series - we do have a few loose ends.
I received an ARC from the author, but the comments are strictly my own.
Hilltop Inn continues to maintain its success rating while the three owners, and their team, pursue their individual, expanding horizons. Ms Nichols has enhanced this ongoing story by introducing Sierra into the mix; however, to give more detail will lead to spoilers 😊. The character development is excellent, keeping the reader fully engaged in the activities, new skills and interactions of all the protagonists. Pacing of the storyline is quite rapid as the focus changes between the separate and combined activities of each of the ladies. This particular book does end rather abruptly and unexpectedly, and, while not quite a cliffhanger, it does leave an opening for the saga to continue… An honest opinion of an enjoyable book that I received as an ARC from the author.
This series is so wonderful. The characters are so real, and I feel like I’m right there with them – through the good and bad, just whatever life throws their way. The new folks coming into their lives makes the story line that much more interesting/entertaining. I honestly can’t pick a favorite person because I love all of them – the good ones anyway, but don’t we all have those not so good ones we have to deal with sometimes? Thank you, Pat Nichols for writing this series. I love traveling to Blue Ridge, GA!! I received an ARC of this book, but my opinion is my own.
The characters in this series have not let their pasts define their future, except to move their lives in a better direction. Each day brings opportunities, second chances at love and even forgiveness. A wonderful, clean series with plenty of ups and downs, but mostly love for each other.
I cannot say enough about this series. The characters are so real. I was a little miffed that a lot of the loose ends are still loose. I know that eventually they will be taken care of. Hallmark should consider making this into a series.
Another emotional page-turner from Nichols. I laughed at the antics of Millie and her new mystery-solving friends, and I cried at the tough interactions between Wendy and her mother. I love this clean Blue Ridge series; it offers a little mystery, a little romance, and a lot of plot twists. Looking forward to #7.
