Mindless Desire is the kind of book that sneaks up on you. One minute you’re settling in for a fun enemies-to-lovers ranch romance, and the next you’re emotionally invested, fanning yourself, and seriously considering whether you should quit city life and move to a ranch. 😮‍💨

At the heart of the story are two people who should absolutely hate each other.

Nour is determined, stubborn, and fiercely loyal to the land her family has owned for five generations. After promising her father on his deathbed that she would save Sunpine Ranch, selling it is simply not an option.

Enter Logan Guerra: the new CEO of a powerful empire, a city billionaire with a reputation, and the man who needs her land for a project. He arrives expecting a negotiation.

What he gets instead is a war. 😌

The city boy vs. country girl dynamic is chef’s kiss. Logan walks in with power, money, and influence, but Nour has something far stronger: heart, grit, and a deep connection to the land. Watching these two clash is wildly entertaining; the banter is sharp, witty, and filled with tension that practically crackles off the page.

And then there’s the forced proximity.

Because somehow the man she refuses to sell to ends up… staying at the ranch. Sharing hallways. Meals. Moments. And slowly, very inconveniently, seeing each other for who they really are.

What I loved most is how Logan isn’t just the typical billionaire trope. Yes, he’s powerful, confident, and ridiculously attractive, but there’s also a protective, loyal, quietly thoughtful side to him that unfolds throughout the story. The layers to his character make the emotional shift between him and Nour feel earned and deeply satisfying.

Their relationship builds with:

💔 Real emotional stakes
❤️ A love that grows intense, possessive, and deeply protective

The supporting cast also deserves a shoutout. Just like in the first book, the side characters bring humor, chaos, and heart. They make the ranch feel alive and add so much personality to the story.

And the chemistry? Oh it’s there. The tension builds beautifully before it finally ignites. The spice isn’t overwhelming, but when it hits, it’s confident, passionate, and perfectly placed. Think simmering heat rather than nonstop flames.

Okay… this book had me HOOKED. 👀 The chemistry, the tension, the desire?! Caroline Whiteley really knows how to keep you turning the pages.

There were moments where I was completely invested and others where I wanted to shake the characters and yell, “PLEASE JUST COMMUNICATE!” 😂 But honestly, that just made the reading experience even more entertaining.

The atmosphere was addictive, the romantic tension was EVERYTHING, and I definitely found myself thinking about these characters long after putting the book down.

Not a perfect 5⭐️ for me, but absolutely a 4⭐️ read and one I’d recommend if you love romance with plenty of angst, tension and chemistry. 🫶🔥

Would I read more from Caroline Whiteley? Absolutely.

Another banger in this series!! Loved the relationship building in this one. The banter and group chats were spectacular, once again! The only minor issue I had was with the third act break up. Just felt like maybe they could’ve rebuilt together rather than him doing it as a way to make up for what happened in the first place. I really struggled that she blamed him and broke him when it was out of his hands 🤷‍♀️ could he have done things differently? Sure. But hindsight is 20/20! Still wonderful! Still would highly recommend!

I liked this book but I felt like there were parts missing. Such as, what happened to Logan’s business partner, I didn’t feel that was explained enough.
I feel like I wanted to understand what happened in the 6 months Logan and Nour were apart.

So Logan decides to come try to talk to her himself and she convinces him to stay at the ranch. Of course they fall in love and he convinces her to sell a lot of the ranch but keep the house and it’ll
Pay off all the debts. He also gets her to go to Columbia with him for his brothers wedding. But while they’re in Columbia the house gets leveled and she freaks out and leaves. So six months later she’s in veterinary school and Logan has rebuilt her house, sold off his shares to the company and moved to Vancouver to be with her. He brings her back to the ranch and HEA.
