Someone dealing with their own unhappiness and guilt doesn't want you to be happy
Jaxon and Keisha find themselves somewhere they never expected to be, but have they travelled too far down that road to backtrack...or can they still reclaim the love they had and their ailing marriage? But as they begin to talk, to forgive and to hope...they receive threats....and then the danger increases. I really like Jaxon, he does initially seem bitter and closed off, but as more of their history is revealed, they realise they both made mistakes, and they both withdrew rather than talk about it. And his sharp edges seem to soften as they forgive themselves and each other. Keisha is so very overwhelmed and she blames herself for so much, with no allowance for the shock and grief she was and still is dealing with. My heart goes out to both of them as they battle the guilt, the fear, the heartbreaking truths that are uncovered, including the betrayal that hits too close to home and they both embrace the future they so clearly want... together. I really like this series, seeing the healing The Haven offers both animals and people is beautiful.
Jaxon, recovering physically but still emotionally bruised from a looming divorce, finds temporary peace working at the Haven animal sanctuary. That calm is disrupted when a group of distressed llamas arrives—transported by none other than his ex-wife, Keisha. The unexpected reunion stirs old wounds and unresolved tension, especially with Keisha’s sister still a volatile presence. Despite the emotional upheaval, Jaxon remains focused on the animals, guarding his heart with caution. Yet as he and Keisha begin to talk and confront their shared past, a new threat tied to her sister forces them to work together. In the midst of danger and emotional reckoning, a tender love begins to reawaken—offering both Jaxon and Keisha a second chance at healing and connection.
I loved this story with the story about Jaxon's and Keisha's relationship, family dynamics and more about The Haven. The animal sanctuary setting mirrored their emotional journey which was an interesting parallel. Lots of emotions and feelings in this story from Jaxon and Keisha as well as Keisha's sister who had a lot to work through.

I loved Dale Mayer's "K9 Files" series and I am loving "The Haven" series, there is so much warmth and love in all these books. When Jaxon Hillsborough looked over to where the unkempt llamas were being unloaded from the transport truck, he couldn't believe his eyes, why did no one think to tell him ? Helping Timber and his wife Tiffany was Tiffany's friend, local vet, Keisha, who just happened to be Jaxon's wife. ex army Jaxson had returned from a mission with life altering injuries, after a spell in rehab he returned home, not to a warm welcome, but to be served with divorce papers, a divorce that he didn't want. Jaxon was working at The Haven, a large ranch that was a place of safety for unwanted and neglected animals and also for ex military personnel who were at the crossroads in their lives, a place to adjust to life outside the army. Kaisha was fighting her own battles, her parents had been killed in a car crash which left her younger sister, Kelly, paralysed from the waist down. Kelly was making Keisha's life a misery, she wouldn't accept help, she wouldn't help herself, she was angry all the time and most importantly, she hated Jaxon. Keisha and Jaxon knew deep down that they didn't want a divorce, but as they began to get closer again , Kelly's behaviour became more erratic. When Keisha and Jaxon both started receiving threatening phone calls, the police became involved, could Kelly be behind them, or was it something much more sinister. This is a beautifully written, second chance romance, with just the right amount of angst, the characters are very likeable and it is set in the wonderful Haven animal sanctuary with it's equally wonderful inhabitants, I received a free copy of this book and my review is voluntary.
Jaxon is regaining his physical health after being seriously injured while deployed. But he's dealing with emotional pain from an impending divorce that he doesn't want. Working at the Haven, he finds solace feeling both welcomed and wanted. But his sense of peace is wrecked when his soon-to-be ex arrives with the load of llamas that were expected. Jaxon is determined to protect his heart and avoid Keisha. But they soon begin to really talk and address their past including Keisha's sister who was a problem between them before and remains one now. A new threat and unforeseen dangers soon threaten Jaxon and Keisha and they seem to be connected to Keisha's sister. But in the middle of all the suspense, love blooms anew with hope and healing.
I love Dale Mayer. Her books are incredible and this one was no exception. The Haven is a new-ish series and it's set at an animal sanctuary that quickly becomes a sanctuary for military veterans as well. "Jaxon" is the third book in the series and it was an absolutely fantastic read. I was hooked from beginning to end and I simply didn't want to put it down. Sadly, my reading time is limited this time of year as I work on homemade holiday projects, but this book kept me awake past my bedtime! This was a well-written book with well-developed characters and a fast-paced plot. There's a connection between all of the characters that's positively wonderful. Dale Mayer also portrays the disabled in the story showing different attitudes of those who suffer incapacitating injuries. I really enjoyed this book which had action, intrigue, romance, and suspense. It was a can't-miss book in a must-read series. It was an excellent book and I'm looking forward to the next one. I highly recommend both book and series.
An uncommon, but not unusual scenario between Keisha, Jaxon and Kelly.
Initially, I feel bad for Kelly’s situation, but as the story unfolds, she starts to take on an entitled attitude which gets on my nerves real fast. She acts real spoiled and expects Keisha to devote 100% of her time to her instead she doesn’t attempt to better her own situation and take some of the burden off of Keisha.
Keisha suffers a lot of guilt over her sister’s condition and also because of her parents’ deaths. I felt bad for Jaxon because it appears as if Keisha is taking her anger and frustrations out on him without her realizing it and putting him on an emotional roller coaster. I like how the author brings them together to explore the extent of their relationship despite Kelly’s nasty attitude.
Tragedies caused this situation they all find themselves in, anger keeps emotions high, and love heals many invisible wounds. This story has all three with a huge dose of betrayal and lost trust. Don’t forget, there is a sweet HEA to come out of all of it!
Jaxon by Dale Mayer The Haven Series Book Three Jaxon Hillsborough has been helping Timber out at the Haven. While helping with a load of rescued llamas and alpacas, the last thing he expected was to see his almost ex-wife. What a shock, coming back from the hell of war to find divorce papers instead of a welcome home. Thus, moving to the Haven. Keisha Hillsborough worked hard to become a veterinarian and open her animal clinic while taking care of her sister, Kelly. After an accident that took both parents and left Kelly in a wheelchair, Keisha’s shoulders had a big load. The problem was that Kelly refused any help, hoping to improve on her own. She was so busy that Keisha wasn’t even sure why she had filed for divorce. As trouble comes their way, Jaxon and Keisha need each other to find out who is cyberstalking them both. Which, of course, leads them both to grow closer once again. An enjoyable story with some unique twists and turns. **Mild sexual content and language https://justjudysjumbles.blogspot.com...
.I really enjoyed reading Jaxon . Jaxon finds himself lost coming home after medical discharged finding his wife wants a divorce . He lands at The Haven lending his skills to help Timber build it up . He's shocked and still angry when he comes face to face with his wife Keisha who he still loves . They soon find themselves talking and realize they still care for each other . Keisha finds her sister is not happy and has been manipulating Keisha . She definitely doesn't want her spending time with Jaxon . Jaxon and Keisha realize they are both receiving strange phone calls and find there's definitely something going on . This story is outstanding full of intrigue and suspense and romance . I highly recommend taking the time to read .

Jaxon is struggling as he tries to deal with the end of his marriage to the woman he still loves. To heal he decides to help at Haven to help give the animals a home they deserve. The situation is about to become more complicated when he realizes that rather than distancing himself from his wife the situation will bring them closer.
Keisha has a difficult past and always put the needs of others before her own which is one of the reasons that her marriage has ended. Seeing him again brings up all the feelings she still has for him but will this be their second chance or are they destined for heartbreak once again?
Jaxon and Keisha take us on an emotional and dangerous journey as truths will be revealed that will change their views of the past and realize the love they have for each other is far from over.
There is a lot going on in Jaxon, not just his story and The Haven but the depth of anger an hurt that can come with being a paraplegic and so much more. Keisha (ex wife, but not legally) and Jaxons story is about growth, learning from your past and provided feels and understanding. I new immediately who was involved in the phone calls but as always Dale throws in a twist and surprise that I did not see coming. I would have liked a more resolution with the sister, (I admit I so wanted to shake her) not a quick fix, but just where shes at. Maybe she will get her own story with another veteran. Thank you for the advanced copy. I freely share my honest thoughts and opinions. #Jaxon #TheHaven #DaleMayer #ValleyPublishing #Booksprout
When you watch a truck bring in animals in poor condition and the local vet comes to help out sees Jaxon and Keisha come face to face after their marriage fell apart. Working together gets them talking and see both of them facing phone calls that quickly turns bad. Keisha calls on Jaxson when her sister ends up in hospital and the truth starts to come out. Following their hearts they realise what went wrong and wants to take a second go at it but finds outs more and more and what they need to face to be able to take that chance. A very moving story of barriers, family and new challenges for all.
Life continues at Haven the animal sanctuary that also has a place for veterans getting back on their feet. Jaxon's estranged wife Keisha is the local vet and carer of her wheelchair bound sister. I really enjoy the heartfelt scenes in this series, the caring of animals and people finding their way. Jaxon and Keisha are reconnecting, but not without worries. Danger seems to be circling them. Her younger sister is full of hate and something more in going on that will have the authorities involved. The story became quite suspenseful towards the end and I couldn't put it down. Great series, I highly recommend it.
Jaxon, regaining his physical health but still haunted by the emotional scars of an unwanted impending divorce, finds solace working at the Haven, where he feels welcomed and at home, at least for now. However, his sense of peace is shattered when Tiffany arranges for the arrival of llamas in distress, and he discovers that Keisha, his ex, is the one transporting the llamas. The star-crossed couple begins to communicate, secrets are uncovered that change their whole relationship. I would recommend this book to everyone. HEA included.

Despite everything i really wanted this couple to work their issues out, they were both loving and normally supportive people but things had gotten out of hand mainly because of the sister. It was sad just how much her behaviour was controlling Keisha's life and decisions. Complex emotions and events, some quite troubling. I'm glad The Haven and Timber gave some peace and calm along with the wonderful animals. Such a sanctuary no one wants to leave or if they do, they come back to visit and help. Love the concept and the characters and it's a pure joy to read these stories.
I liked the storyline but was not expecting how it all worked out. I hope down the line we find out how and where Kelly ends up and maybe after therapy they can teach her to live a good life. Keisha had a hard time of it and I am glad Jaxon gave her a second chance. With everything happening to her and Kelly’s attitude it must have been utter ‘hell in a basket’. Jaxon needed time to get his life in order and deal with his problems. Then he was able to be there for Keisha and still help Timber.
Another amazing read for the Haven series. These storylines are full of intrigue, redemption, love and an amazing idea of the Haven for both 2 legged and 4 legged as Timber says. A must read. An amazing second chance at love story. I do love that Jaxon and Keisha have grown in their marriage. Both have done the work and continue to work to keep it strong. The story of the chat group is very disturbing and sick. Can't wait for the next installment of the Haven series.
Jaxson and Keisha are in the middle of a divorce neither of them really wants. Then they come together at the Haven to take care of recently arrived llamas. Spending time together has them both questioning if they really want the divorce. When Keisha has a crisis with her sister Jaxon will not let her go through it alone. They obviously belong together but need to stop letting others influence their decisions.

Once again Dale has nailed it. This new series is a great read, what could be better than animals, veterans and of course the requisite problems that go alongside it. I love the fact that Dale talks openly about disability and accompanying problems and in this book is a young girl who is in a wheelchair and how she is not dealing with her situation. She causes her sister much angst, including a pending divorce. A really good read. Enjoyed immensely. Once started, I just had to finish it.
Jaxon is stronger than even he knows as he faces the world still recovering from scars both physical and emotional. He reaches out to "The Haven" and is welcomed which is just the thing he needs. As we journey with him and see his life and recovery in all areas, we learn a lot about ourselves in the process. A well done book that kept me up at all hours to find answers. Great story!.

Haven really is a haven for animal and human alike and it is Jaxon's turn to find healing there and with everything going on for him it's the best place for him. It is also the perfect place for he and his ex Keisha to happen to meet due to her involvement in animals and give them an opportunity to do some healing, but her sister needs to stay out of it all.

The third in The Haven series is terrific. Full of mystery and suspense it also has romance and recovery. Jacob is a patient man, his wife, Keisha, has asked him for a divorce. But he's not ready to give up on their marriage. They face a lot of challenges and he intends to work with her through them. Threats, an angry younger sister and a veterinary practice to maintain are overwhelming these two but The Haven, once again, provides the peace they need.
This is the 3rd book in the series and can be read as a standalone story. We follow Jaxon as he volunteers at The Haven, the help the animals in need and to heal himself. Alone with a divorce on the way, he's shocked when his ex, Keisha is the one to bring some injured Llama's to the sanctuary. There is still plenty of chemistry between Jaxon and Keisha but soon realize that they both have trouble finding them that's closer to home than they realize. Good story, wonderful characters.
This book has kept me totally involved in the plot and the overall story of the rescue. The honorable veteran and the bonded brothers.. The Lord's blessing on the Land and the men He sends when they are needed. Hours of reading of struggling of men and women to heal and give of themselves is inspiring.. Thank you for blessing us with this series.. I will be waiting for the 4th.
Jaxon has come to the Haven to recover, and his wife has filed for divorce and asked him to move out of the house. When both start to get phone calls with threats it starts to bring them together again but, her sister hates him and keeps them apart. A story of challenges, finding out the truth about your family, second chances and helping people and animals at the Haven.
Jaxon is about a injured guy facing a divorce, but his wife is having doubts about it. Keisha is an overworked veterinarian trying to keep it all together and not doing well herself. Keisha has a sister who is a paraplegic who is slowly spiralling into depression and is making wrong decisions. It all comes to a head and Keisha and Jaxon have their happy ever after.
I love the books of The Haven. Animals find their way to The Haven for healing, for belonging and for nuturing. Just as the veterans find their way to The Haven. Jaxom is the latest vet to find the healing and his future.

All the feels, with mystery, danger, and intrigue added in. Of course there is romance and a HEA to make this the complete package. Absolutely loved this page turning story, with a few tears shed. A well deserved 5 star read.
Jaxon and Keisha's romance did a great job of tugging at my heartstrings, giving me big feels and making me fall hard. Suspense, heart, drama, emotion, angst and genuineness that created a potent and powerful story that was simply wonderful.
I really enjoyed this book. It has a lot of drama and hurt in this story, but it keeps you wanting more and hoping that Jaxon and Keisha find their way back to each other.

Animals, romance, veterans, rescues, what's not to love.
I love books about animals and their rescues. I also love the books about veterans who can use a hand up. I get both with this series. Please, write on.
Haven for animals and people! Could usr hid in real life!
