What a great adventure! The author created wonderful characters, which you can’t help but love…in a magical world. It’s action packed with twists you didn’t see coming. If you are looking for a new epic fantasy adventure, I highly recommend this series! I can’t wait to see how these character’s stories continue in book 2!

Shattered Divinity (Book One) is a large, ambitious epic fantasy that truly delivers on its promised scale, complete with dragons, demons, and powerful artifacts. However, The Lit Whisperer found that ambition sometimes outpaced connection. While the foundation of the world-building is solid—Aaron D Yoder clearly has a vast, complex mythology ready to deploy—the sheer volume of information meant the narrative felt dense, making it difficult to immediately settle in with the characters. I struggled to fully immerse myself, which resulted in me having to force myself to finish it, rather than being swept away. Ultimately, the story is not bad—it’s full of incredible potential and boasts some spectacular, high-stakes action sequences—but the emotional thread needed more focus. This is a solid start for fans who prioritize intricate world-building above all else, but I’m giving it a measured 3 stars, hoping the next installment focuses on deepening the character bonds.

I received this ARC from NetGalley and loved it. It is a grand "Game of Thrones" type of epic where you never know who is sided with whom and when or how it will change. There are great characters with complicated motivations and loyalties. One of the unique touches in the writing is explaining how the magic works and how it is used in daily life which results in a different level of immersion. I hope to enjoy many more additions to this wonderfully built world.

I actually enjoyed this one far more than I originally thought. The cover gave me enough to be intrigued but leave me wanting something a bit more refined.

The pacing and worked building I really enjoyed. The explanation of magic and the banter between characters had me fully engulfed.

I do look forward to the next installment of the series!
