Despite his fame, Jathan’s personal life is pretty bland. He’s always the friend on the outside looking in. Quince sees him.
With the season coming to a close, Jathan is coming into that six-month season of his life every year where boredom strikes. His circle is filled with people just as famous as he is, and maybe that’s the problem. He only has one friend who genuinely likes him, and he just got married. This year, Jathan has to get out there and meet more people with similar interests. Unfortunately, he’s kind of awkward
Since Jathan started visiting the ranch to spend time with Quince’s boss’s new husband, Quince hasn’t looked away. Jathan is tall, gorgeous, and funny. Only recently has he noticed Quince at all. Now Quince is fully obsessed with someone he can’t have. There’s too much standing between them—mostly Quince and all the things he can’t say. It’s an issue.
Slam Dunk is the sixth book in Charity Parkerson’s Sporting Pride series. These are sports related romances, following men who find love while navigating high-profile careers. These are best enjoyed when read in order.
Charity Parkerson is an award winning and multi-published author with several companies. Born with no filter from her brain to her mouth, she decided to take this odd quirk and insert it in her characters.

Jathan may be famous, but his personal life feels empty—always the outsider in his own circle, watching others find connection while he drifts through a six-month stretch of boredom and isolation. With his only close friend now married, Jathan resolves to meet new people, though his awkwardness makes it difficult. At a ranch retreat, Quince—quiet, observant, and emotionally tangled—has been watching Jathan from afar. To Quince, Jathan is more than a celebrity; he’s kind, funny, and achingly out of reach. Now that Jathan has finally noticed him, Quince is caught between longing and silence, overwhelmed by everything he can’t say and the fear that Jathan will never truly see him. Their story simmers with quiet yearning, emotional distance, and the possibility of something more—if only Quince can find the courage to speak.
I loved this story of fame, loneliness, and the quiet ache of unspoken feelings. I liked that they explored the deep human need to be truly seen and valued, especially when surrounded by people who only notice the surface. I also liked how the story highlighted how loneliness isn’t about being alone, but about feeling disconnected even in the busiest rooms. Although the two men were in different worlds, the story highlighted how compatibility isn’t about lifestyle or status, but about emotional resonance: who makes you feel understood, safe, and alive. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content.
By Charity Parkerson standards this was a pretty easy love story. All the good feels with minimum inner qualms and doubts. But she really packed in the drama, OTT health scares for both mcs made for interesting reading. The sports aspect was totally besides the point and I could see the segue to a new series brewing in these pages ;)
Jathan and Quince were so adorable I loved them it had romance and suspense I couldn't put it down im so excited for the next book Sterling and Buck (HOT)
