"We are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.” – 2 Corinthians 10:5How do your thoughts make you feel? Do they lead you toward peace, hope, and joy, or do they stir up anxiety, overwhelm, and self-doubt?
Our beliefs—both conscious and subconscious—shape our emotions and actions. Yet too often, we let destructive thoughts run unchecked—even when they aren’t true.
But we don’t have to live this way.
Scripture tells us to “be transformed by the renewing of [our] minds” (Romans 12:2), and that’s exactly the journey Taking Every Thought Captive will guide you through.
It’s not quick or easy. Like any habit, training our minds requires discipline and repetition. That’s why this interactive journal pairs Scripture with guided prompts and reflections, helping you put God’s truth into practice every day.

The greatest commandment tells us to “love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind” (Matthew 22:37). Training our thoughts is part of aligning our hearts and minds with God’s truth so we can love Him fully.
If you feel stuck in cycles of anger, anxiety, or self-doubt, this journal is your invitation to break free. Through God’s Word, prayer, and intentional daily reflection, you’ll learn to take every thought captive so you can experience deeper peace, joy, and purpose each day.
Librarian Note: There is more than one author in the Goodreads database with this name.
C.E. White (Connie) is an author of middle-grade fantasy, children’s books, and Christian non-fiction for adults. Her works are fueled by a lifetime love of both Jesus and reading, and she longs to inspire people of all ages with imagination and words of hope. She has a passion for helping people embrace the lives they have instead of the ones they imagined. Most of Connie’s favorite books are at least one-hundred years old, so chances are high that she’s secretly a time-traveler who got stuck in the future. She doesn’t seem to mind, though, and lives happily in the mountains of North Georgia with her husband and two cats. More at www.cewhitebooks.com.
This book was so good, I read it twice! The author offered me a review copy, which I savored as each entry made me really think about ways I want to improve my life, and then I read the whole thing again last night when it showed up on my Kindle. This book is SO GOOD, so encouraging, so worth reading. It was most definitely the right book for me at this moment in time!
Taking Every Thought Captive is a detailed guided journal to living out a often repeated but difficult to grasp Christian principle.
C.E. White guides us through the difficult process of figuring out what is really going on in our heads so we can sort out the lies and embrace the truths.
There was so much in this book to unpack and implement that multiple reading are necessary to fully glean every piece of advice.
The included journal pages are helpful for applying each lesson to your daily life.
*I received an ARC copy of this book for review purposes. All opinions are my own.*
I'll be honest. I read the book. I didn't do the exercises because I figured if I got started on the exercises, I'd never get the book read. But I see the value of the exercises, so I plan to buy the book and go through it again at a more leisurely pace, and probably give a copy to my sister. It'll be a challenge but most good things are
