There is a small planet called Klay, a place where animals talk and gods still roam. On its poles lay two vast continents, one of which happened to be shaped exactly like a teapot. This is where our story starts, just past the Krooked mountains, in the Corner Lands in the city of Tanglewood.
Benedict E. Quigley is the world’s laziest detective. He has only ever solved one case in his entire life and wishes he hadn’t. With a murderous Hare on his tail, a Secret but unoriginal Brotherhood lurking around every corner, and the Police getting in the way, all Quigley wants is to save his skin… and receive big rewards for his efforts. Of course, it’s never that easy… Who is the mysterious Goldfish running for Arch-Privy Councillorship? Why is there a puddle of Coffee seeking world domination? And what is Quigley going to do about Reggie, his moral and pedantic assistant? All of these are good questions, which therefore won’t be answered…
Every now and then, you just want the comfort of a real easy read. Sometimes you don’t need to follow along every single word. You can just read at your own pace, take it with coffee , wine or a beer. Funny, and yet you know you have to deny to all your friends from grade one to wherever you left that you have never heard, read, or even partaken in giving this book the slightest chance at a long life. I absolutely loved it. It helped me through a day and it gave me some chuckles. Yes, I am proud to say I read Burnt Toast! Michael Nethery, Paris Ontario, June 7
