The Frog: A Tale of Sexual Torture and Degradation

Rate this book
Jane is abducted by a sadistic couple intent on reducing her to a sexual object. Drawn into a world where sensuality is blurred and splattered by the harsh brush of abuse, the exploration is as much a matter of the mind and soul as of the body. Jane, called "Frog" by her captors, learns to adapt as her world shrinks to the avoidance of pain and the pursuit of pleasure. Ironically, her captivity frees her to finally appreciate a life she took for granted, and even in her sexual prison she discovers small joys and, ultimately, redemption.

THIS IS MY FIRST CLAIRE THOMPSON BOOK AND IT WONT BE MY LAST!!!

Right you need a strong mind set for reading this and an empty belly for those who are a bit squeamish!!!

For me this did not make me feel squeamish or bugged out or anything, it had quite the opposite effect on me lol...
Maybe I have a deprived mind or something but I found this book quite intriguing and insightful because not only did it have a handful of kinks that I LOVE LOVE LOVE but it has also made me what to try some things out as well lol...

What Claire has done is written a book that goes beyond any means and I say that because she has written this really freaking wicked, not only that but there were scene's that felt like I was there seeing Frog being tortured and hearing her screams...
Her description on the torture was really explicit and detailed to the nines and maybe I'm just fan-girling but her writing on the details was beautiful!!!
It's like, not only did they torture her but they TOOORTTTUREED HER yeah that brutal lol...
One thing that did bug me a little and like only 1% was how many times I read about his hugh massive cock and how 'nobody can so no to my husband and his cock' how many times he used it on Frog I was thinking description

This has been edited because I've read it again and even though I still stand by why I didn't like the ending I just had to give it Five stars, I freaking love this book!!!

I did not like the ending because it felt fast and quick... like maybe it was rushed or some something like that because they have took Frog and done all this nasty horrible stuff that would make my nan turn in her grave but at the end it was like *wham bam thank you ma'am*, I was like..description

But apart from the ending this is now one of my favourite books, if I'm looking for a quick read (got hooked big time) or get my little kink fix or some *looks around* me time *wags eyebrows* then this will always be number one for me.. unless I find another deprived book better than this, until that happens Frog will be number 1...

Jane sees herself as worthless and just existing with no expectations as this book opens. She thinks that no one notices her and thinks of herself as unappealing and plain. But she is very wrong as a married couple, Brenda and Robert, have definitely noticed her and determined that Jane is a perfect candidate for their plans.

Jane unwittingly stumbles into their trap. Kidnapped and chloroformed, she is abducted from the local grocery store. Helpless, unconscious and oblivious to Robert's attentions to her quickly naked body while Brenda drives the getaway car, she is unaware of what is in store for her. She awakens to find herself being held prisoner by the couple to be used any way they see fit before they ultimately dispose of her body. Sex is just a small part of what they have in mind for her with the primary interest torture and humiliation.

Brenda sees the abduction and the getaway as an arousing event. She likes getting away with it and especially likes playing mind games with the victim.
"Jane didn't move and Brenda was concerned for a second that they'd overdone it for her first day. It didn't do to scare them so bad they lost their minds. More fun to keep them lucid; aware of what was happening to them. For Brenda it wasn't just about physical thrills. She liked to take a person and slowly break them down. Take an independent functioning adult and reduce them to a docile, totally submissive and obedient slave. Robert could use her, but ultimately it was Brenda who would own her."
While Brenda likes to play mind games and inflict pain for the sheer pleasure of it, Robert likes to inflict his manhood on them. Robert thinks that the victim should appreciate the fact that he is doing to her what so many women would crave if they only knew what could be in store for them should he deign to please himself as well as them.
"Robert was excited and happy with their newest acquisition. She was young and terrified and probably not very experienced sexually. He would have the privilege of breaking her in to all sorts of nasty and exciting practices. He would turn her from cold frigid bitch to wanton sex slave. He would teach her not to just submit sexually, but to crave it, to live for it. And despite his very selfish use of their toys, Robert was in fact quite attuned to what drove women wild. He knew how to take them to the edge and pull them back, and then push them closer, closer, controlling their experience until her finally let them go, pushing them toward their own little deaths, leaving them completely spent and, in his mind, properly used."
What neither suspects and Jane did not know, is that Jane has a previously untapped inner strength. Driven to the edge by repeated torture and forced sex, she begins to find within herself a will to survive. Not only survive but to begin to plan for her escape as well as revenge on her sadistic tormentors.

This novel is very hard for me to rate, as I like this author and her work. In the past, her works have always had an undercurrent of eroticism for me, which I found very lacking in this novel. Beyond the whipping, caning and the like which I expect, there are scenes of urination and feces which I do not care for at all. Therefore, due to their prevalence throughout the novel, any erotic element for me was completely lost.

At the same time, for what it is as implied clearly by the title, it is well written. As in many of her other books, the victim finds an inner strength and begins to rise above her situation. The novel allows her to evolve and change for the better and becomes something totally different than what the character was at the beginning. This character development is not weak but substantial as the novel moves forward and the secondary characters—in this case the married couple Brenda and Robert—also fundamentally change. The graphic scenes serve to highlight the ongoing character development and other issues. Her novels are never just a series of sexual scenes loosely strung together.

Therefore, I am going with a four star ranking. Clearly, while this novel is not erotic in my opinion, it is well written and complicated just like her other works. Pain, humiliation, and the inner spirit of a victim are the main themes. Far more so than in any of her other books, the author has provided a glimpse into the abyss and which was madness lies.

★★★☆☆½
How the heck do I rate this? The editing errors got on my nerves and I was alternately creeped out or tingly, yet I finished it and was a little disappointed by the ending or maybe not. Let me just say, if you see Bren or Robert at the grocery store, run Forrest, RUN! Unless you like this kinky-fuckery (thanks Shannon for this very excellent tag!) shit done to you. I do think this is one of the most sexcontent-tagged books on my shelf. If you got a challenge, this is your book!

This is definitely extreme and it IS sexual torture, not erotica. It is not meant to titillate, and there are some scenes that are just downright nasty. Jane gets kidnapped by a sadistic couple to be their as a sex slave. This is her only purpose, and she is kept in appalling conditions to be used horrifically. The wife is jealous though she allows her husband to use slaves and is even turned on by watching. It's a delicate balance for the husband to achieve, keeping his wife happy while not provoking her ire so much that she goes too far in Jane's punishment.
There is a lot of inconsistency in how Jane (Frog) is treated by her captor and while I think this was done intentionally to show that the husband was starting to have true feelings for her, it was not explored enough to truly make sense. In the end, this felt unfinished to me--like it was set up to have a sequel that was never written. We never find out what happened to Jane after What Jane went through was the stuff of nightmares, to say the least, and the torture was definitely extreme, but there were times when the dialogue felt forced and awkward. In the end, I did not enjoy this as much as some of Claire Thompson's other work.

In order to read this book, you need to ask yourself : are you fucked up enough?
Twisted enough? Maybe even insane enough?

Enough to stomach (and maybe enjoy) reading about the degradation, humiliation and torture of a woman in all aspects; mental, physical, emotional, and sexual. To get to know a control-hungry, power-tripping, mind-games-loving woman, and her sexually depraved psychopathic husband.

If the answer is Yes, I'd say go for it right now.
It was a good book when it came to depicting the sexual torture and psychological degradation during captivity as a sex slave....but on the other hand, the book was written in a manner that it appeared to be unfinished. I was waiting on many details that didn't come at all.....and I was genuinely surprised when i finished it cuz I thought it wasn't over and I had a faulty kindle book. It had an abrupt ending.

It will most certainly read more books by this author though.

The abduction and sex parts were ok for me, but the ~bathroom~ scenes and the torture part, NO.
I absolutely hated them.
Definitely not for the faint-hearted. BEWARE.

Do not read if you are offended but abduction, rape and torture! This is not your romantic hot bdsm erotic story.
This is pure sadistic rape and torture. There were a couple of panty soaking moments for me, but then that was me personally.
How ever. Claire Thompson is an excellent writer who pushes the limits on your imagination. Makes you squirm in your panties because of the sheer horror of it. The nail biting, "is she, isn't she"! The pyshological aspect of it is terrifying. It wasn't the most torturous thing I've read but still. Be warned!
As I have read from other reviews, this truly is to for the light hearted. Do not buy after reading these reviews and then have an OMG I'm disgusted and only give the writer 1star. Because you 'll just be waisting your money and doing this excellent writer a disservice!

Scenes were great, but characters were extremely inconsistent. Its always a red flag when the author tells you about the characters personalities instead of letting their actions reveal them.
Also the whole story felt rushed, it wasn't so much about the journey but rather the ending. So even for lovers of sick kinks like myself, it didn't live up my expectations.

I never have been more disgusted in my life then after reading this book (actually I couldn't finish it). How is this even considered erotica? I mean she get kidnapped and tortured (literally). For example, in once scene, one of her captor actually pees (yes pees) into her mouth or should I say forces her to open her mouth or else they beat with a cane or a whip. God, this book so disgusting, why did I even bother reading it. This my first book by Claire Thompson and now I'm wondering if all oher books like this.

I don’t even know how many stars to give it.

Literal is reading degrading porn but I already knew what this book was about, so it’s good at that... I guess.

It would have been a solid 3.5 but can't give half stars so had to settle for 3.

There are some good points for sure, the situation is interesting enough but the writing meanders a bit. At one point it states that Robert has no empathy, is incapable of it but then he is shown to be caring.
The scenes were interesting in their own way, it covered a lot of fetishes from forced bi, to humiliation, to extreme pain and other things.

My biggest problem was probably the end which felt kinda rushed, it just seemed to happen because the book was over, not really a natural conclusion.

Overall it would be of interest for people who like extreme degradation/deprivation in BDSM terms, you aren't reading this one for it's in depth character development. The people exist to carry out their role, nothing more.

I was very concerned that I would not like this book. It seemed to be a constant stream of deviant sexual acts committed abusively against an non-consensual participant. That is, actually, what the book suggested was to happen... so, no surprise. However, I was intrigued by the reader reviews that I saw for the book.

It turns out that while this story includes a barrage of cringe-worthy situations which conjure a particular degree of wrath in the reader, there is a small thread of hope. The metamorphosis of the main character is not (as it seems all too often to be in this genre) a vengeful slide from youth and beauty to some ugly ptsd hell, but rather, it is the growth of a sense of appreciation of the beauty of the world - the realization that life is to be savored. And for this reason, this story resonated with me.

Boring! This book was so boring and I wouldn't finish it, if not for the challenge. I really had high hopes for this one, but after finishing it, I feel disappointed. Sometimes, I felt like reading Jane Austen's novels. Don't get me wrong, I love JA, but her style didn't fit with this story. All those "poor Janes" were grating on my nerves. And the ending... So unrealistic.

I don't recommend it and I'm not sure if I'll read any other book written by this author.

Why 2 stars? Well, it had its moments, but they were few and far between.

I am surprised.

I wasn't expecting much out of this because the other books i have read from thompson have left me on the fence a little. I didn't know she had it in her.

Frog hit every button known that will stun the kinkiest of them on occasion. It definitely fit perfectly into the section of dark erotica.

What intrigued me the most was that it was a couple doing the kidnapping, not some power hungry or shatter man. It made it that much better to witness Brenda in her element.

Rather uneven book. A girl is kidnapped by a couple, tortured and used as a sex toy. Their interactions with girl are not consistent. A dominatrix is brought in and a very tender scene ensues. It almost feels like this book was written intending a sequel where the kidnapped girl explores her sexuality.

This goes beyond what I would call Erotica Noir and sits more firmly in the realm of a vet graphic horror sorry. I would have loved a lot more character development or reasoning behind the scenes, the depravity, and more insight into what exactly made Jane strive to survive when she'd always been happy to coat in the past.

I've read few books by Claire Thompson. So far, this book got me pissed the most. I really hate the "pissing" part by her captors. Damn, but well it did got the degradation thing. Though I don't really love the ending part.... but at least she got her captors paid a bit.

One of the darkest books I have ever read. I got my copy long before EBooks were popular. I still have a copy hidden away where I hope nobody ever finds it. Even after all these years it still leaves a dark memory. This book is not for everyone.
