He sent her away to save her. She’s coming back to destroy him.

Matti thought sending Siena away would keep her safe. Breaking her heart—breaking his own—was the only way to protect her from the brutal world of the Demonio Brotherhood and to protect her from the truth. He walked away from the Demonio family for her, but no amount of distance can erase his burning obsession. Siena is his. Always. And he will get her back.

Siena refuses to be another casualty in Matti’s war. If he killed her sister, she’ll find the proof. If he didn’t, she’s coming for whoever did. Alone. Because trusting Matti means risking another heartbreak, and she barely survived the first. But the deeper she digs, the more dangerous the truth becomes—deadly enough to destroy her before she ever gets her revenge.

MATTI:

The day I let her go, I stopped breathing. Life without her is a slow, agonizing death. But she’s not safe—not yet. One last move. One last war. And then I’ll bring her home… whether she forgives me or not.

SIENA:

He shattered me. Left me in pieces and walked away like I was nothing. But I won’t break again. I’ll find the truth—on my own. And if Matti is the man I have to destroy? So be it.

Matti has one last plan. One final chance to eliminate the threat keeping him from Siena. And when the dust settles, she will know exactly who he is. What he’s done. And she’ll have to decide—can she still love the man who destroyed her? Or will his greatest sacrifice be for nothing?

Love. Obsession. Revenge. When the truth comes out, will they survive it?

This book is a dark unconventional romance and contains themes that may not suit all readers. Please check the author's note for content warnings before reading.

This is the second half of a duet, the ending of Matti and Siena's story, which began in A Demonio Brotherhood Dark Mafia Romance. It is necessary to read CURSE before reading SHIELD.

CURSE and SHIELD are the first duet in a series of duets that follow the men in the Demonio Brotherhood as they rebuild an empire and find the women who will scar their souls.

Book two picks up where book one ended and boy you’ll be in for a roller coaster of a ride.

Matti sent Siena away to protect her, to keep her safe, but in the process breaking both their hearts.

But Siena won’t let that deter her, she is determined to keep moving forward, to find the answers she needs to be able to move forward.

Matti can’t and won’t let Siena go, he has this obsessive, compulsive need to watch and track her every movement, he is so blind, so lost in her. Because one thing is certain - Sienna is his. For always. And he will get her back, whatever it takes.

All Siena wants is the truth, she refuses to be a victim, she’ll find the truth by any means necessary, even if it means going to someone who has their sights set on her man, yet if Matti was responsible for her sister’s death, come hell or high water she’ll come for whoever did, alone, including Matti, because when trust is all she has, and she wants to trust Matti, yet when he’s keeping the truth from her, it means risking heartbreak, because if they can’t get through this, they may not survive the fallout.

Because Siena is keeping a secret of her own, one that will change them forever, only the danger Matti fought to keep her from found its way to them. Siena suffers the deepest betrayal at the hands of her brother Franco, the truth of why he did what he did, it shatters her heart completely, but not as deeply as her getting her revenge, despite what they have endured the danger is yet to pass.

But for now Matti and Siena will bask in their love for one another, as they await the birth of their baby girl, and believe it or not that was the most romantic proposal ever. But behind the scenes the men of the Demonio Brotherhood work to rebuild their empire, whilst finding the women who will claim their souls.

I have to say Siena was a very bad as FMC. She was a force unto herself. Not only is she loyal but fiercely protective, not only of her friends but her man. Matti was truly perfect for Siena, he loved her, protected her and was right by her side when she got the justice she deserved.

These two knew how to make us laugh, their banter keeping the readers engaged in the story. The character development and world building was on point.

The spice was a spicing. Matti knew how to put the sir in sir. They both knew how to give as good as they got, Matti meeting his match with his girl who loves it hard, rough and dirty, just like him.

Highly recommended both the author and the book, looking forward to reading Tomas and Giovanna’s story.

I received an ARC. Therefore I am submitting a voluntary review.

NOTE: You must read Curse before Shield! Shield ended on a cliffhanger, and Gia did an amazing job continuing Matti and Siena’s story in the follow up!
Siena will not give up on finding out what happened to her sister, and Matti can’t let her go - upping the stalker, obsessive, compulsive behaviours that come with becoming obsessed with someone.
The betrayal of someone so close to Siena had me seeing red - and I was all for her upping the anti on her bada$$ self!
The character development, story growth and undeniable connection between Siena and Matti had me completely and utterly hooked.
By some miracle, Matti’s crazy matched Siena’s to a tea and the spice was definitely there, yes Sir!
Cannot wait for the next instalment in the Demonio Brotherhood series!!!
Bring. It. On!

Book 2 in the Demoinio Brotherhood series
Matti and Siena
Picking up from the cliffhanger in book 1, which needs to be read first, these are not standalones.
Sienna continues on her mission to discover the truth on what happened to her sister and her family ties.
A lot of push and pull between Matti and Siena added in with some unhinged stalker behavior on Matti's part. Siena’s definitely took it up a notch on the bada$$ scale too, loved that. So much happened, unraveling of this mystery throughout the book.
This book had a great balance of plot, spice, character development, and action.
The ending was well done and set up nicely for book 3 in the series

Gia Detroit is a force. Her writing pulls you in and doesn’t let go until you’ve been emotionally wrecked, obsessed with every character, and deeply attached to a fictional mafia family you now consider your own. Her words are sharp, intimate, dark, and seriously addictive. I devoured this book and didn’t want it to end.

What hit me hardest was how relatable Siena is. I saw so much of myself in her. Her fear, her strength, her survival, and the way she finally lets someone love her without apology. Her arc hit deep in my soul. I was rooting for her, crying with her, and screaming when she finally got the vengeance she deserved. And Matti? Don’t even get me started. That man has now become the gold standard in my house. My husband has no idea he’s being judged against a fictional, obsessive, gun-toting, face-worshipping mafia daddy. Oops.

The plot is intricate in all the best ways. Gia clearly put a lot of thought into this duet and set up the future Demonio Brotherhood books in a way that makes me desperate for more. The story is layered with trauma, love, betrayal, and a surprising amount of hope. It somehow makes you ache and swoon at the same time.

Also, I need to talk about how Gia writes side characters. Olivia and Blake are the best friends I wish I had in real life. Every scene they were in made me laugh, cry, or want to send a strongly worded text.

I’m already counting down the days until Tommy and Giovanna’s duet. After this one, I’ll read anything Gia writes. Highly recommend if you love your romance twisted, your men unhinged, and your endings bleeding with love.

OMGNESS!!!!! Gia did it again!!! The ending of Matti and Siena's story was fantastic! I cannot wait to read Tommy's story! I have been dying to see his story since we saw him in Curse. I knew he would have a fantastic story waiting for us and Gia gave us the best teaser to keep us salivating for more. She has done such an amazing job building this Mafia world. I absolutely love Matti. He truly was the perfect guy for Siena. The way he loved her, protected her, and allowed her to get her revenge was phenomenal. He did not stop her from getting the justice she deserved. I was not expecting her level of revenge. She truly showed up and showed out. She was the very definition of bad @ss. She showed them all that she was a force all in herself to be reckoned with. She was fiercely loyal and protective of her man. They truly made a great team. They made you laugh at times and cry at others. This story was the perfect ending to their love story. The author did such a fantastic job with the character development and the world building. She kept you engaged in the story. You continued to want more and more. I seriously cannot wait for more books by this author. She left me needing more of the guys. I cannot wait to see where she is planning to take us with the other guys.

What can I say about this book.

Well there is a lot I can say about the book but let me not do that and summarise my thoughts in a few paragraphs.

This is my real and honest opinion:

Romance: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
Slowburn: AMAZING❤️
Spice:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5

Shield: A Demonio Brotherhood Dark Mafia Romance by Gia Detroit is a captivating journey into the world of shadows, loyalty, and passion. The story is a raw, intense exploration of the Demonio Brotherhood, where danger lurks and love is a hard-won prize. The characters, including the hero and heroine, are the beating heart of the story. The hero, a powerful and enigmatic figure within the Brotherhood, is compelling in his strength and vulnerability, while the heroine, a resilient and inner strength, navigates the treacherous landscape.

The romance is a slow burn that ignites with scorching intensity, with the two main characters' journey towards understanding and acceptance being both captivating and deeply satisfying. Detroit balances the darker aspects of the mafia world with moments of genuine emotion and connection. The plot is well-paced, with twists and turns to keep readers on the edge of their seats.

If you're looking for a dark mafia romance that delivers on suspense, complex characters, and a love story that defies the odds, Shield: A Demonio Brotherhood Dark Mafia Romance is a compelling read. Be prepared for a thrilling and unforgettable journey into the shadows where loyalty and passion collide in a thrilling and unforgettable way.

I love a good dark mafia story, and Shield starts where Curse left off. It is a rollercoaster ride from start to finish. Shield: A Demonio Brotherhood Dark Mafia Romance is the second and final book of the series.

Matti (MMC) and Siena (MFC) is a fun story. Matti does everything to protect Siena even doing the hard thing by sending her away. Matti makes sure that he is watching her while Siena is trying to determine who killed her sister. She wants to know why. She cannot trust her brother who is crooked. Like the first book, the chemistry between Matti and Siena is 🔥🔥🔥… IT IS SIZZLING 🔥🔥🔥

Their personalities match up and help make them strong together. This book is a rollercoaster of emotions and full of action. This was a good second book that answers and resolves all the questions from the first book.

First off if you haven’t read Curse yet please do otherwise you will be lost!!

I love me a good mafia book and it’s hard to impress me because I feel that most of them sound redundant or have overused storylines half the time. Howeverrrr I did pleasantly enjoy Curse and Shield! There was always a little twist that kept you engaged. Now I assume there will be another book since Shield left off on a little cliffhanger and I’m so excited to read it when it comes out. The spice is absolutely there for my spicy readers but it’s not overdone so well done Gia!! Matti is so adorable all in love I can’t wait to see him step into his next phase in the following book. Sierra is so funny and her relationship with Vin is hilarious. Would love to hear more about Vin, unless I missed a book somewhere that already has that story. Overall great read and would definitely recommend to my Mafia romance readers!!

A huge thank you to Gia Detroit for allowing me to read an early copy of Shield! This is the second book in a gripping duology centered around Siena and Matti, and wow—what a ride.

Matti is all sharp edges and intensity on the outside, but when it comes to Siena? Pure softness. The chemistry between them is magnetic, and while this book definitely brings the spice, it's perfectly balanced with the emotional depth and the plot. As someone who hasn't read high-heat books, I appreciated how well-balanced it was with the character development and storyline.

The world Gia has built around the Demonio family is one I’m completely hooked on, and I’m definitely planning to keep reading as more of their stories unfold.
(And just putting it out there... I am rooting hard for Vin and Sofia)

If you're into dark, emotional romance with strong characters, family ties, and just the right amount of heat and heart—Shield delivers.

Shield is book two in the Demonio Brotherhood

If I could give it more than 5 stars I would!

Mafia romance? Check,
Revenge? Check.
Heartache and betrayal? Double check.

FMC: Siena
MMC: Matti

The story continues in Shield, so I would advise you to read Curse first.

Matti send Sienna away so she could be safe, but sienna still wants to find out who is responsible for killing her sister even if she has to take down Mattie to find out the truth.

Keep your tissues ready, as you are in for an emotional roller-coaster.

The suspense is above par, Shield is action packed and fast paced, and well worth the read.

I never suspected who the real killer was.

Go on read it!. I know you want to.

Gia Detroit did an amazing job with this story.

Would recommend it if you love mafia romances.

ARC review ...

I admit I wasn't overly crazy about Curse so I didn't have high hopes for Shield but...

If you’re into fierce, no-nonsense female leads who don’t wait around to be saved, this one delivers. Siena's smart, tough, and doesn’t let anyone push her around, which made the story a lot of fun to follow.

The world was gritty and intense, and while I wasn’t obsessed with every part of the plot, I really liked how the main character held everything together. Some of the side characters were kind of forgettable, and a few twists were easy to see coming, but I didn’t mind too much because I was rooting for her the whole way.

That said, parts of the plot felt a little predictable, and some of the side characters didn’t totally stick with me. I wasn’t completely pulled in the whole time, but I was curious enough to keep turning the pages.

Shield is book two in the Demonio Brotherhood, and it continues from Curse with Matti and Siena.

So many twists and turns in this book. Matti is desperately trying to keep Siena safe, and all she wants is the truth from him. She wants to find her sisters killer, and Matti may hold the answer she needs to get some closure. She doesn't have any family left, her sister is gone, her brother wants her dead, and her mother doesn't speak to her.

Matti breaks her heart and lets her go, but can he truly stay away from her?

Will Siena forgive Matti and understand, why he did what he did?

Shield will keep you guessing throughout the book, and you try and figure out who the killer is!

We pick up right where we left off in the previous book. Matti is doing everything he can to protect Siena even if that meant sending her away. He is watching her every move and those around her. Sierra is trying to figure out who killed her sister and why. Her brother is a scumbag and a crooked cop. She doesn’t speak to her mother and has no family left to turn to for help besides her cousin for support. Matti has turned his back on the family to protect Siena.

The fire and passion between Matti and Siena when they are together is so hot and intense. Together they will get answers and find out who killed Siena’s sister.

This book was great! Loved this book and can’t wait for Tommy’s story!

We're back with Matti and Siena in the final part of their journey so be sure you've read Curse first so you'll understand Shield. Make sure you check the trigger warnings before you start reading. There's content that may be sensitive to some readers. Now on to the good stuff! I absolutely LOVE Curse! I love Shield too but this one is a lot more emotional than Curse was in my opinion. This storyline is completely consuming, these characters are absolutely fantastic and utterly delicious. The chemistry is over the top HOT and together they can move mountains! Keep kleenex handy, you'll need them!

This series will have you on the edge of your seat. Siena and Matti are one hell of a team their love for eachother is something I hope to have one day. I understand why Siena is hesitant and takes things personally I just wish she saw the bigger picture sometimes. But the heat throughout the book between them 🥵🥵 oh my💦 and the knowledge that comes forth with what truly happened to her sister and why oh my I did not expect that, but what happened after she found out I would've done the same thing. The ending made my heart melt!! I had been waiting for that since Curse. I'm so excited to dive into the next book. If you have read these yet I highly suggest them!!

Could not put it down!

Was rather unhappy with the cliffhanger that the first book left but all is now forgiven.

Love the story line with all the small twists and turns. The MFC starts off a bit naive with the mafia world but definitely comes into her own. The MMC is brilliant. Although cruel at times, what I liked was that we always knew why even if the MFC didn’t.

Great amount of spice vs story line. Loving this authors writing style in this genre as it really flows.

Cannot wait to see what happens next in this world and anything else that comes out of Gina’s imagination.

This was such a great book. I was worried how it would go after the ending of the first one but it picked up just fine and held its ground. I loved the relationship between Siena and Matti and how it developed over both books. I will say I did kind of see one of the twists coming that I feel was a major plot point which isn’t my favorite thing. I’d rather be thrown off by a twist. I do wish that we were told what happened with Aurelio. Other than that I absolutely loved reading this and finished it in just a day!

my ARC review

Shield delivered the perfect conclusion to Siena and Matti’s story. I liked Siena in Curse, but in Shield? She leveled up fast from a somewhat naïve heroine to a total badass. I loved how she stayed guarded and strong, no matter what came her way. And Matti? That man was absolutely feral for her, and I ate up every second of it. The twists kept me hooked, and the ending? It gave me everything I was hoping for and more. I truly loved it.

Deceit, betrayal, action, romance, kinks, what more could you ask for from a Dark Mafia romance. Picking up from where book 1 left off, Mattie is trying to do everything in his power to keep Siena safe. Even if that means breaking her heart, but who is he kidding he can't stay away. Then once Aerulos finds out where she lives, everything changes. Will the war between the family and for power finally start?

“You own me—my heart, my soul, my fucking life. I don’t exist without you.”

Gia really put her elbow into this one. Shield gave the us the perfect story between Siena and Matti. I liked Siena in Curse but in Shield!? She went from naïve FMC to BAD ASS real quick! I love that she kept her guard up through it all… but my man Matti!?? Ugh the feral man he is for Siena really had me by the throat. All the twist and turns were perfect! The happy ending really was exactly what we all needed. I’m already looking forward to Tommy’s story. And as always, check your trigger warning 🩶

You definitely have to read Curse first!!

I loved the strength Siena brought — her loyalty and love for Matti was fierce, and his devotion to protecting her was just as intense. The push and pull between them had me grinning, swooning, and yelling at my Kindle. He literally cannot stay away. The twists, the darkness, the spice — all perfectly balanced. The ending is exactly what I needed.
