Wedding Bells at the Wartime Bookshop continues with Naomi, Alice, Kate and the gang. Alice and Kate are happily married. Naomi and Burt are eager to marry, as are Ruby and Pearl to their respective beaus, when a series of poison letters are delivered to Naomi. Desperate to discover who is penning the letters before she says 'I do' to Burt, she is leery of enlisting help from anyone, until Burt convinces her the townsfolk are her friends and will want to help. Ruby and Pearl are each dealing with their respective parents (Ruby's cold and indifferent; Pearl's stuffy and determined Pearl will wed in her hometown with their socialite friends in attendance).

I enjoyed Ruby and Pearl's dilemmas with their parents and their wedding plans. It was fun not only catching up with them, but seeing how each land girl has grown and blossomed into her own person. A side story involves three of Churchwood's single ladies vying for the vicar's favor, but what really held my attention was Naomi and Burt. I've liked Naomi from the very 1st book and cringed every time another letter arrived in the mail, hoping the sender would meet with a satisfying fate. And then (without giving anything away) there is Burt, who had me on pins and needles until the very end. Which leads me to say, I sincerely hope this is not the last book for Naomi, Alice, and Kate. The final pages left me saddened, because I think it is, but also a bit hopeful, because there are so many more avenues Ms. Eames can explore with these ladies. Please do!

Churchwood - you have my heart! I’ve come to absolutely adore being in this fictional wartime village and checking in with its host of wonderful characters is delightful. It’s a warm hug every time!

No matter how much time passes between reads, I slip back into this book series like slipping into my favourite slippers. I seem to have made a separate compartment in my brain for remembering all these books and characters and I’ve loved every opportunity to catch up with them and the going’s on in their lives. And given its wartime, there’s plenty of dramas and excitements going on for them. As in this one - the weddings!

The split perspectives between characters were welcome, as I honestly love them all. It was another case of ‘I can’t read these books fast enough’ but also ‘want to slow down because I don’t want to finish it’ so naturally I finished it in a few days because I loved it so much.

Thank you to the author and publisher for this book on NetGalley in return for my honest thoughts and review.

Another fabulous addition to Churchwood and the Wartime Bookshop

Naomi is receiving poison pen letters, Marjorie has had communication from a cousin she didn’t know she had, Ruby and Pearl are planning weddings with or without their parents - then there are all the old characters Alice, Adam the vicar, Suki the maid, Beth and not forgetting the love of Naomi’s life - Bert.
Along the way there is entertainment for the evacuee children, and potential tragedy.

All wrapped up in a very satisfying well written and well researched story.

It did end as though that could well be the end but there were also opportunities to expand the story and lives of some of the characters.

And don’t forget the Bookshop - still running, still keeping the community together and still helping out.

Despite Majorie’s new cousin and her antics.

I thoroughly recommend the whole series

The latest installment in the Wartime Bookshop series. It does work as a standalone story, but I would definitely advise reading the earlier books for the character progression and their relationships.

The return to Churchwood sees Naomi receiving poison pen letters, and Ruby and Pearl planning their weddings to Kenny and Fred, but facing very different problems with their parents. I really liked getting to know Suki more in this book, up until now she has bee a side character. I also really like Bert, his love and support for Naomi is beautiful.to read. This book is packed full of wonderful characters, both good and bad. This is a must read series for me, and I look forward to the next book.

Another brilliant book in the series and is just as good as the other books.

The book had a mystery to solve who was sending the poison pen letters. I enjoyed that bit about the book I kind of guessed who it might be. There is a bit of heartbreak in the book. Three woman vying for a man who will win the race. The story was very enjoyable and liked where the characters all worked well.

I thought the ending of the book was really nice and look forward to the next book as I would imagine there will be more to find out what happens to them.

Would certainly recommend this book.

What a story!

I have loved every book in this series so far, but this is the best book yet! The series is about a village during the Second World War, and focusses on the people in the village; it illustrates the highs and lows, their humanity and community, and the reality of life on the Home Front. Without giving anything away, my heart was in my mouth at times but it definitely ends on a flourish! Can’t wait for the next one!

Churchwood Hertfordshire.
They won't let the war stop them from finding happiness.
I adore this series and the wartime bookshop continues to strive even during the hard times of every day worries.
As weddings are hard to organise who doesn't love one.
The girls with all their worries bring the book to life once again.
Such another inspirational story.
I loved it.

Lesley Eames has me laughing and crying in all of the Wartime Bookshop series but this one was exceptional. Lesley had my emotions rearing all over the place. Such a talented author. I know she’s taking a break from Church wood but I sincerely hope she returns soon.

Loved it. This is the last book in the series (so far--I'm hoping for more). The characters are great and I felt like I really knew them.

Back in the glorious saga set in Churchwood and the Wartime Bookshop. The war is moving along, but there are weddings in the air.

Naomi and Bert are determined to get hitched, but there is someone who is determined to unnerve Naomi with some poison pen letters. Is it someone she knows?

Ruby is soon to marry Kenny, but she isn't excited like all brides should be. What is preventing her from enjoying the moment ? Is her unresolved issues with her family stopping her creating a new one?

Many of the familar characters we have got to know over the books all appear, Kate and her curmudgeonly father, delightful Alice who was the catalyst for the whole bookshop idea right at the beginning as well as some new faces as well.

This book is full of not just wartime spirit but community spirit and the spirit of love and friendship.

Don't start with this book, go back to the beginning and start their and you will be welcomed into Churchwood with open arms. A joyful saga seton the back ground of the Home Front during the Second World War.
