Rogues in the House’s third sword and sorcery anthology. What stands out in this volume are the variety of stories and locations. There is something for everyone in this. That being said, since there is such a variety, I found a few stories not to my liking. I was also a little disappointed because the page counts are going down while the Kindle prices are increasing dramatically in this series. I recommend this for anyone who enjoys sword and sorcery!
Rogues in the House delivers with their third volume of Sword and Sorcery short stories. As always the rogues curate a collection of great stories. This volume features new authors and heavy hitters like John C. Hocking and John R. Fultz.
I think what stands out most about the Book of Blades series is the breath, depth, and variety to the stories. Other contemporary Sword and Sorcery collections have a theme or you can sense the editor’s preferences which can make a collection limited (though often great) in its taste-making. Here you get the widest variety of flavors and it makes each story interesting and unpredictable.
The Rogues in the House guys have delivered another glorious collection of Sword & Sorcery tales, new authors and some familiar names. Great way to discover new writers to follow and some nice Easter eggs in the stories of the ones that you already know. When is volume 4 out?
