The creature who dragged me into the depths is everything I fear. Lorien is ancient, untouchable, and as cruel as the tides he commands. His golden eyes gleam with amusement as he informs me I belong to him now—that I will serve, I will kneel, and in time, I will break.
But I am not as fragile as he thinks.
I should despise him, this tyrant of the deep who binds me in chains of salt and iron. And yet, his touch ignites something dangerous in me. Something I don’t understand. Something I don’t want.
He may have stolen me from the world above, but he will not take my will. He will not claim my soul. Not even if the way he looks at me makes me crave the ruin he promises.
_ _ _ _ _ _ This is a dark and spicy paranormal romance featuring an anti-hero, a strong male lead, and contains scenes and references of abuse/assault that some readers may find triggering, along with graphic sex scenes and violence. This is a dark book, suitable for 18+ readers only.
CJ Holmes lives in England, where it's cold and damp, and it's always raining - which provides her with enough time to write stories about magic, fantasy and romance. She'd like to escape to somewhere warm but that might mean that she spends too much time sunbathing and not enough time writing books.
She lives in a quaint English cottage which would have one of those idyllic gardens if her fingers weren't the opposite of green. Fortunately, her husband and children don't seem to mind that almost everything she tries to grow ends up dead. She enjoys drinking wine and gin, which conveniently coincides with her love of reading and writing, as well as running and watching bad TV shows. You have been warned....
I am still wrapping my brain and feelings around this story. It was dark, depraved, and honestly scary at first, with that haunting vibe for the first 5% that really drew me in.
The dynamic between the MCs was extremely interesting and intense. Insta-lust played a large role in the first 100 or so pages. Spice on spice 👀👀👀
Watching Jude’s defiance even as he “learned his place” was wonderful to see throughout the story. He never lost himself and I’m very happy about it.
I must’ve missed any initial description of Lorien, as I have an empty picture in my brain of him. I did thoroughly enjoy how he spoke to Jude (as demeaning as it was) and loved how he softened just a little bit for him 🥹 it was cute to see.
Overall, 4 🌟, 4 🌶️!
Thank you so much to CJ and team for allowing me an advanced copy of DIVE !
Holy moly I loved it … it was a slow burn then it became a chaotic beast of a fire and it’s so so so so so so good . CJ did it once again with another book I love it so so so so so much ! Check trigger warnings 10/10
Anya was honestly annoying, like get the hint he does not want you , dont make yourself look so pathetic. Jude felt nothing for her or any relationship he had .
he came to Norfolk Coast as his aunt Helena was dying, which he had no idea what was to come .
lorien was every dark fantasy of mer you would envision & more the first impression he had of Jude was a bit amusing .
lorien did not get rid of him something even small spoke to him to keep him as his toy . it wasn't rushed and written perfectly and dark.
soren made me curious about him the way he knew lorien past and didn't want another mistake to happen he was very entertaining.
the wars between them and the kelpies it made me so curious how it all started.
chapter 18 was so incredibly good & addicting to read. the dynamic lorien and Jude had me hooked. I couldn't stop reading .
one of my favorite quotes was this!! [ “You’ll learn to take me, Jude. I’ll have you obeying me without question. Doing anything I ask. No matter how degrading or demeaning. I’ll have you so well trained I could fuck you in front of all the fucking ocean and you’ll beg me to keep going.”]
the ending was amazing 👏 and still had me wishing there was more . I was so fascinated by them both , the defiance Jude had and the way lorien could see what Jude liked without him saying a word . Jude only been with women so it made it even more better and hot . the chemistry they have you could just feel it off the pages like nothing matter but them .
Thank you to the author for trusting me with an early copy—being part of this journey has been an absolute honor.
From page one, A Dive into Darkness drags you straight into a world simmering with danger, shadows, and magnetic tension. The atmosphere is thick with storms, secrets, and that delicious sense that something is about to go terribly—and thrillingly—wrong. The story wastes zero time, throwing you into heart-stopping moments and an eerie, immersive setting that refuses to let go.
At the center of it all is a volatile, irresistible clash between two leads who could not be more different. One burns hot with defiance; the other exudes raw authority and unyielding control. Their chemistry is sharp and electric, full of friction and emotional tug-of-war. If anything, I found myself wanting a touch more slow burn before the deeper feelings kicked in—but once the rhythm settles, their connection becomes strangely captivating.
Even with its heavy romantic and spicy elements, the plot holds its own. The underwater realm is vividly crafted—moody, dangerous, magical, and brimming with lore. It’s the kind of world that pulls you under and keeps you breathing saltwater.
Imagine Fifty Shades colliding with a dark, twisted, adult Little Mermaid—power, rebellion, desire, and an unexpected tenderness flourishing in the deep.
The story follows Jude, who retreats to his late aunt’s coastal home after ending a messy relationship. A stormy night, a chilling warning, and a haunting encounter by the water pull him into the domain of Lorien, the mer king. Lorien’s interest in him is instant and intense, and Jude is caught between what he’s always believed about himself and what his body and instincts are shouting at him. Their early interactions are charged, controlling, and undeniably heated.
As the layers peel back, secrets about Jude’s aunt—and why he was drawn into this world—begin to unravel. And yes, there’s plenty of heat, but there’s also genuine story, real stakes, and a world worth sinking into.
If you love dark fantasy, high tension, morally gray kings, and romance with bite, this one is a wild, addictive plunge.
🌊🔥 Plot + Spice + Atmosphere = a ride you won’t forget.
First and foremost, I want to thank the author for allowing me to be a part of her ARC team and review her work before its release. I truly appreciate her trust in my thoughts and feedback as a reader. A Dive into Darkness is exactly what its title promises, a plunge into tension, power, and forbidden attraction. From the very first chapter, you're pulled into a story steeped in chaos and conflict, relationship discord, darkness, storms, and the unknown. The pacing goes from 0 to 100 almost instantly, with jump scares and heart pounding moments wrapped in a dark and moody atmosphere. the dynamic between the main characters is extremely intense from the very beginning. their interactions are rocky and charged with power struggles and emotional warfare. With one being very fiery and defiant, while the other is commanding and relentless. For me it is this dichotomy that fuels much of the book's tension and intrigue. However, the speed of their emotional connection feels rushed. with characters being at such opposite extremes, i found myself wishing for more buildup, more tension, more groundwork, and more room for the relationship to unfold naturally before deeper emotions were introduced. Still, once you adjust to the pace, their dynamic has its charms. There's a protectiveness, a pull, and an evolving fascination that becomes compelling, even when wrapped in darkness. The emotional layers woven into their connection adds depth to a story that's already rich with mood and mystery. What surprised me the most is that even though the book leans heavily into romance and spice, the plot itself is strong enough to stand on its own. The worldbuilding is full bodied and atmospheric, with an undercurrent of magic and danger beneath the ocean's surface. Think Fifty Shades of Grey meets The Little Mermaid but darker, more magical, unapologetically emotional, and with a fresh twist. This is a story of power, defiance, and the strange tenderness that can bloom even in the depths.
I finished reading 'A Dive into Darkness' written by C. J. Holmes. This is a dark and spicy paranormal romance and the last book in the Dark and Devilish standalone series.
"Your power? It's an illusion, like a tempest that dies the moment it hits land."
I've read all the books in the series and I think this one sticks out most for me. The story is very unique, the background to it and the characters give the story a lot of depth and it reads so comfortable and nice.
"Oh, I'm serious. He will be trained to serve me in every way. To please me. It won't be easy, of course. He's stubborn, resistant. He'll try to fight, but I like a challenge, and I enjoy winning more."
This story is about Jude and Lorien. Both come from different worlds. Jude forced to leave the for him known world behind. Making him face danger and feelings that not only scare him, but chance him. Creating something unknown, not knowing where it will end.
"The ocean doesn't tolerate weakness. Its beauty is as deadly as it is captivating. Just like this palace. Just like me."
I believe this story builds in a very strong way. Giving you details and not leaving anything to the imagination. Growing it with a love interest that came straight out of a fairytale. Everything else though? Full of danger, distractions, magic, dark forces, curses and many more scary things.
"Waves can be calmest. Or crushed. Or commanded, when they know their master's voice."
CJ created a story that leaves an impression, that I will remember long after. With characters crafted from actual stone so strong, bringing a world written vividly and a story you need to finish. I enjoyed this installment very much and I give it five stars.
A Dive into Darkness is the final book in the Dark and Devilish series by CJ Holmes. It can be read as a standalone. It’s dark and very intriguing! Jude seems like a normal guy who moves to his aunt’s coastal home when she passes away. The beginning has very creepy vibes which I loved! He learns there’s a whole lot more to his aunt than he realized. Lorien is a mer-man and very dominating and possessive. The enemies to lovers trope shines through here. Lorien is very degrading to him because he’s human but wants to keep him as a toy. I love that we get to see Jude’s pov. He’s straight and he’s also confused about how he ended up a captive in an underwater world with merfolk. He hates Lorien and how he treats him but he’s also turned on and is curious to explore these feelings more. This book has all the spice! It’s beautiful seeing this story develop and then working past the initial biases and miscommunications.

“You waste today worrying whether you have changed after last night, instead of accepting that you are as you always were. You fight me and what I want because you’re afraid of what you’ll become, instead of fearing what you won’t discover by denying the possibility of me. You refuse to accept your reality because you’re clinging to your fragile notions of what it should be.”
Lorien and Jude are phenomenal together , their strength and adoration for one another is top tier.
Like all of CJ’s books, A Dive into Darkness breaks you a little and puts you back together. Her world building was detailed and enthralling.

“I want to peel back that stubborn defiance layer by layer until the only thing he knows is me. My will. My power. My name on his tongue.”
“I see you as you are. For what you are. You’re raw, untamed, aching to be given the chance to be greater than you are now. You fight because you’re afraid, but fear is nothing more than resistance to truth.”
What we loved is the way these rough waters wash up all our most depraved wants onto these sullied shores. What we love more is a dangerous dip in the dark.
This series has been one for the books and we are so thrilled to have tumbled into it. If you are reading for relationships please enter stage right, because as always, we are navigating every dom moment we might never have expected to travel before.
I can't rec this enough if you love a hard moment or two, and if you want to challenge your idea of what dangerous love looks like, fins and all. 🤭
This book was a great ending to the series and I love that it ended with a MM romance. Often when you come across merfolk they are female, so this was a nice change.
Jude was easy to fall in love with as a bit of a lost soul finding his place in the world, a strong contrast to the dark and dominating Lorien who is very sure of himself. They are the perfect example of opposites attract and their differences only bring out the best in each other.
Dark And Devilish is a series of standalone books and, like the others, this ends with a HEA.
A Dive Into Darkness by is a MM dark romance that drags you onto the depths along with Jude, who is dragged into the depths by Lorien, the tyrant of the sea.
Jude is bound by salt and iron by Lorien who declares Jude belongs to him, but Jude refuses to break. CJ Holmes crafts a finale steeped in gothic grit, claustrophobic tides, golden eyes that gleam with cruelty, and intimacy sharpened by danger. If you crave villain romance where obsession collides with agency, this book delivers.

What an EPIC underworldy love story. It took me under and had me in it’s claws with the kidnapping in the first chapters. And tides it didn’t let me go. It just took me under and made me breath and read under water with them.
Those men? They have my heart they have my soul. They had one hell of a road to get through for there happy ending. But the devotion? The love? The level of obsession and defiance? Yeah I was here for it all.
And the little special way of adding the bling? Absolutely adored.

Jude is bound by salt and iron by Lorien who declares Jude belongs to him, but Jude refuses to break. Holmes writing is fantastic and I’ll read anything written by her! This was a plunge into tension, and power, and forbidden attraction. I loved the world building filled with magic and danger but I was here for the spice! I loved the connection, the dynamic between the characters from the start, I loved the dark little mermaid feel to it. Their early interactions charged and controlling and heated 🔥 If you like dark fantasy filled with tension and hot spice I’d take a dive into this darkness, and let it suck me in. Absolutely!
I love anything that C.J writes ugh especially with the captor x captive trope it’s so good. I was selected as an arc reader for this book and I rated it four stars please check your trigger warnings because this one is a dark romance, but the tension, the angst, and the spice was everything ugh
Thank you to the author for the ARC in exchange for my honest thoughts.
This M/M fantasy romance between a human and a merman takes the enemies-to-lovers and captor/captive dynamic in a fresh, emotional direction. I really enjoyed the premise — it’s rare to see this kind of pairing, and the author’s imagination shines through in moments of tension and vulnerability.
The prose is rich and descriptive, which will appeal to readers who enjoy lush, lyrical writing. While I personally wished for a bit more clarity in the world-building and character visuals, the story’s heart and creativity kept me turning the pages. I can see many readers falling for the emotional pull and mythic tone of this romance.
I absolutely loved this book. Mermaids, sea creatures, MM trope, spice, and so so so much more!!!!!
You are drawn in from page one and hooked all the way to the very last page. You absolutely just need to know what’s coming and what is happening next. CJ’s book are absolutely amazing and always a pleasure to read. I am so excited to see just what she has for us next!
I enjoyed this book a lot, it had a good story. I was hooked pretty quickly. Jude and Lorien had amazing chemistry and were HOT as hell together. Easy 4 stars for me!
Lorien is the ultimate swoon-worthy anti-hero.. I mean come on... "I want you, and I always will. No matter what you do, what you become. You are mine, and I will do anything to keep you. There are no tides I will not turn, no currents or waters I will not brave. I will have you Jude, and I will keep you. From now until the day that the ocean claims one of us, and even then, it might not be enough to separate my soul from yours." ~Lorien
I loved reading C.J. Holmes's Dark and Devilish series because it kept me guessing with each subsequent book and introduced me to interesting new characters, stories, tropes, and worlds; no two books are too similar. While I do like some books more than others, overall, this series is fun, exciting, sexy, and satisfying, and I'm sad that it's now finished. That said, A Dive Into Darkness is an amazing conclusion to and one of my favorite books in the series.
I've always loved the mythology of merfolk, and I'm thrilled that C.J. wrote about a dark and difficult human-merman romance between two complex characters in an intriguing underworld setting. Broody human Jude and moody merman Lorien are both likeable, relatable, and realistic for their general stubbornness, initial unwillingness to submit to each other, obstinate determination to do what they feel they must to get what they want, and ultimate desire to love and save each other, even when it demands sacrifice. The feelings between them are intense from their very first meeting, and once they do start to submit to each other, the chemistry between them is sizzling, and the steam is, well, extremely steamy! "Watching" the aggressive, arrogant, and powerful mer king soften and fall for his "powerless" but impressive human captive, who softens and falls for him in return, was nothing less than entertaining.
Now, while some parts of the narrative are descriptive and well written, I must admit that I did want clearer and further descriptions concerning characters and settings since I visualize them while I read. Some of the characters and settings are described well, while others are described very little or only vaguely. For instance, while reading, I found myself trying to remember what Lorien looks like and wondering how Jude could breathe underwater, the latter of which is never really addressed. Similarly, the mystery regarding Jude's identity and destiny and Lorien's role in it all is fascinating, but I found some events and explanations a little confusing.
Altogether, A Dive Into Darkness is an action-packed, fast-paced dark paranormal romance about two dissimilar characters whose relationship shouldn't work but somehow does. Over the course of the book, Jude and Lorien learn to tolerate, respect, and then love each other while facing internal and external conflicts that test and ultimately strengthen their bond, which leads to a beautiful, hard-earned HEA. With this series, C.J. Holmes has become one of my favorite dark PNR authors, and I'm excited to see what she writes next.
“A Dive Into Darkness” is a dark paranormal romance by CJ Holmes. It is book five in the “Dark and Devilish” series of standalones. Exploring themes of dominance, submission, sexual identity, and balance, “Dive Into Darkness” is a spicy MM romance! It includes other themes and topics that may be triggering, so please review the Trigger Warnings page.
🔱What to Expect 🔱 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️.5, MM romance, Cursebreaking, He falls harder, “You are MINE”, “I would turn my kingdom to ash for you.”
Overall, this was my first MM romance, and I loved it! It was a great dark romance and immersion into the subgenre. Our MCs, Lorien and Jude, are opposites and complementary pieces at the same time. Lorien is a very considerate MC compared to other MCs in the series. He is VERY considerate of Jude’s feelings, process, and acceptance of himself and their world.
While the world is a fantasy, the conflicts they face as a couple are very much based in reality. Jude’s struggles with his sexual identity and the acceptance of it and himself were so realistic. Lorien’s reluctance to accept change and to share control, not only as a king but as a partner, was so well written and presented. Their fights and their hurt made you feel for them and understand those feelings. I understood Jude’s feelings and how he responded so well, and I just loved that.
“A Dive Into Darkness” is a romance at the forefront, and while I loved that, the subplot was sooooo good, and I wanted more. The idea of the curse, the creature in the Abyss, and Jude’s powers were compelling, and I wanted to know more about the curse itself and how it all began! I also realized that there were moments where I couldn’t tell if we were on land or at sea, which broke my immersion now and then as I tried to figure it out. Holmes creates such an interesting world around us, and I wanted to know more!
In terms of spice, this book is a burning 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️.5! This book is the epitome of an open-door romance. It was intense, passionate, and ferocious. I learned things. I had to take breaks…for science. Exploring BDSM together, we also see them become more reverent as the story continues.
“But that is love, Jude. That is intimacy. It is terrifying and tremendous; it is brutal and it is beautiful. It is more powerful than any force of nature and even the ocean and its depths cannot compare to it, and that is what we will have.”
Wow! What a wild ride! From a suspense-filled start to plot twists and turns, this spicy MM dark romance hit me in the heart, and I’m still thinking about Lorian and Jude.
(See Blurb in Comments)
My Thoughts:
Lorian’s dominating and frightening nature demands obedience, and I was not feeling a connection with him in the beginning, but oh, did that quickly change! I loved how protective of Jude he becomes almost from the start. Jude’s character is defiant and his quieter personality belies his strength. The dynamics between Lorian and Jude made my heart hurt at times, but the way their relationship developed and changed throughout the book depicted the reality of relationships—even when you love each other, it’s messy. I couldn’t love this couple more!
From Lorian’s insta-lust the moment he took a good look at Jude to all Jude’s training, the spice was hot and just kept coming—and I actually had to look up what one sex toy was. 👀 The mating ritual had me cringing with its detailed description while at the same time loving everything about it. With a dirty mouthed, morally grey LMC who will burn the ocean for his man, this dual POV book was well worth the ride!
Thank you to the author and her team for the early copy!
A Dive Into Darkness by C.J. Holmes This book dragged me straight into the deep… and I did not want to come back up for air. From the moment Jude is pulled beneath the surface, this story becomes the kind of dark, intoxicating ride you feel in your chest. Jude’s fear, defiance, and vulnerability hit so hard — and the second Lorien steps onto the page? Yeah… goosebumps. The ancient, dangerous, unlike-anything creature who shouldn’t want him… yet can’t stay away? I was hooked. The tension between them is thick, forbidden, and addictive. Captivity. Power. Temptation. Every moment between Jude and Lorien feels like it’s balancing on the edge of danger and desire, and that’s exactly what made this book impossible to put down. C.J. Holmes builds a world that’s eerie, atmospheric, and beautifully dark — the kind of setting that wraps around you like cold water while the chemistry between them keeps you burning. Jude’s emotional unraveling, Lorien’s possessive obsession, and the push-pull between fear and need had me flipping pages like my life depended on it. If you’re craving a read that’s shadowy, intense, and charged with MM dark-romance energy, this one is absolutely worth diving into. I’m still thinking about Jude and Lorien… and honestly? I don’t think I’m coming up for air anytime soon.
This was my first MM Dark Romance story and CJ did not disappoint. This story immediately out the gate pulls you in. The first couple of chapters were chilling and had you on the edge of your seat. From there you follow Jude, a human, who is literally pulled into the depths of the ocean by a creature he doesn't recognize. Lorien is the King of the ocean, and when Jude is found upon his palace edge, he is intrigued by his presence but leery of what this could mean. Lorien is instantly determined to control and claim Jude as his for whatever he deems. Their story and relationship continues to evolve and the mysteries of the Mer people and Kelpies starts to unravel, while we find out that Jude plays a larger role than anyonecouldhabe guessed. Lorien starts to fall deep and hard for Jude while trying to maintain his strong leadership role in his Kingdom. The twists and turns you experience in their story continually grip you till the end. I really enjoyed watching Jude and Lorien's relationship evolve as well as their growth as people. The love they had is somethingwe all hope to have one day. CJ's ability to take two charachters and merge their worlds in such an interesting and compelling way, is astonishing. I highly recommend this book, but also the entire Dark & Devilish Series.
What a way to end the series! The beginning and actually kind of the majority of Jude and Lorien’s relationship were just super tense. There were definitely some points where I was like “is this Stockho|m Syndrome or is this love?” I loved how Lorien and Jude challenged each other, especially because Lorien was so unused to being challenged or defied in any way. The way the dynamic between these two was kind of constantly shifting was really great. The way Jude became more comfortable with his new place in the world was really interesting and he went through so much really crazy stuff throughout the book. I also really appreciated all of the little things Lorien did for Jude to show he cared and the way he was so fiercely protective of him. The tension and spice was at an all time high and CJ did such a great job with this. The characters were super compelling and I was fully invested in whether or not they were going to be able to work through everything and how they were going to do it. Absolutely incredible final book in the series!!!!!
ARC reader - okay so I really loved the direction of this one and have a M/M pairing 🩵 right from the first chapter there is tension, a palpable sense of foreboding. As someone who grew up on the south coast I could vividly picture the sea and the storm and salty air, it was nostalgic in a way that evoked both the peace of watching a rough ocean crashing at night by moonlight, tinged with the primal fear of being alone, being watched, and the sheer vastness of the deep.
If you like spicy M/M dark romance with a supernatural twist set in the darkness of the deep this is one for you for sure.
The catch: it’s spicy, it’s dark, it’s fun (in a twisted way), it is also indie so you are going to have the territory of the odd typo, none of that takes away from the pacing or understanding of the scene at play and I think that for me is the important thing, a story so gripping that you understand the authors intent throughout.
As always check your triggers and I’ve tried to leave this spoiler free because I want to encourage others to pick it up without giving too much away 🖤
This is the last of the Dark and Devilish Series, and I am sad to see this series end!!
But what an exit this book makes!!
Jude is struggling to find himself in the space he created when he finds out his aunt is sick. Jude floundering escalates after she passes.
Lorien rules the ocean with a dominate and demanding hand. He takes what he wants and makes no excuses.
Lorien is drawn to Jude when he arrives in his kingdom.
l am feral for a storyline that forces one character to find internal strength to become more while forcing the other character to soften the rough edges to also become more. Both characters change in ways that compliment the other to bring out the best. Lorien has to soften (just a bit!!), and Jude finds even more inner strength to stand beside Lorien as an equal!!
🧜♂️ Mermaid X Human 🧜♂️ Enemies to Lovers 🧜♂️ Dirty Mouth MLC 🧜♂️ Burn the World For Him 🧜♂️ Dark Paranormal Romance
Dive into Darkness is an absolute gem that kept me riveted from the very first page. Jude, our fierce protagonist, is thrust into a world ruled by the ancient and merciless Lorien. The tension between them is electric—he's a captivating tyrant of the deep, commanding and cruel, yet undeniably alluring.
The writing is both evocative and immersive, painting a dark and dangerous landscape where desire and fear intertwine. Jude’s spirit shines through as he defiantly resists the chains that bind him, revealing a strength that makes him an unforgettable character. As he grapples with his complex feelings for Lorien, the storyline deepens, exploring themes of power, submission, and the allure of the forbidden.
C.J. Holmes expertly balances heart-stopping tension with a rich emotional undercurrent, making this paranormal romance truly compelling. If you're looking for a story that weaves together darkness and desire with masterful precision, this is it. Five stars!
Wow, what a book! Definitely take a look at the trigger warnings. This is an MM dark, spicy paranormal romance, so make sure it’s in your comfort zone before reading it!
Let’s talk about Lorien. He’s cruel, dominating, and the feared ruler of the mermen. He’s dead set on breaking Jude’s resistance and bending him to his will, but that raw lust shifts into something deeper. Watching Lorien change was one of my favorite parts. By the end, he’s very protective of Jude and is willing to risk everything for him.
Jude is a human male who ends up in Lorien’s claws as a prisoner. He’s stubborn, fiery, and refuses to submit. Throughout the book, he’s forced to confront what’s happening to him and who he’s becoming. He starts off powerless, but slowly, you can see him grow into his own strength.
This is a dom/sub romance that really shows how much power the sub holds. I loved the tension, the chemistry between Lorien and Jude, the spice, and the overall story these two take together.
I have greatly enjoyed CJ Holmes Dark and Devilish series. This was no different. CJ conquered merpeople and MM romance.
While there was insta-lust & possessiveness on Lorien's side, Jude had never contemplated a same-sex relationship. Plus, being a human immediately thrown into a captive situation with the king of the oceans took some adjusting. But Jude did not know or comprehend what Lorien was really saying when he claimed Jude as his. And Lorien has enemies he needs Jude's help with.
Some family secrets, a big one on Jude's side, plus some of Lorien's does cause rifts between them. But the longer they are together, Jude comes to realize how much Lorien means to him. And how much they each have come to love one another.
While their relationship didn't start on the best of terms (captivity & forced proximity), both are drawn to the other to complete themselves.
