The Final Pause: Is this the end?

Rate this book
This is Ticus Poetry's second book, following "What's Left of Me."The final pause dives into the minds and final moments of a suicidal person, exposing the vulnerable side no one dares to talk about.

This book does not sugarcoat the reality of suicide. It speaks boldly from the perspective of those who endure the silent torment, highlighting the raw pain they carry alone. every poem is a window to their struggles, written with honesty and vulnerability to shed light on what often goes unnoticed or unspoken. This is a journey to understand their pain, break down the stigma surrounding mental health and open up conversations about the importance of support to those who feel like living is no longer an option.

"In those last seven minutes,
Before the final choice
becomes your fate,
Listen to the voice that whispers
“Not yet. Not today. Not like this."
Fight for the life you didn’t think you deserved,
Trust me, you’ll be fighting to live again."

raw & real. read if you’re struggling.

While dark at times, I appreciate the rawness. The author shares vulnerably, and as someone who has struggled with suicidal ideation for years on and off, I related with many of these poems. I felt the pain, but I also appreciated the glimpses of hope and the reminders to stay. The glimpses into the perspectives of those left behind were also very powerful.

In your face, RAW & GENUINE!

“The Final Pause: Is this the end?” opens with an important message for readers: the poems within deal with the sensitive topic of suicide. If you find this subject to be a trigger for your well-being, I gently urge you to prioritize your mental health and consider not reading this book. Please take care of yourself.

I was eager to dive into this collection of poems, especially after having read a few pieces shared by the author. For the first time in my life, I encountered reflections on suicide that truly resonated with me, making it feel as though I had penned the book myself. It may sound a bit overwhelming, but every highlight I made throughout these pages was because I felt an incredible connection to those words. They mirrored my own thoughts and emotions so closely.

When I hear about someone who has taken their own life, I understand the great pain they must have felt, even if I don’t know their story. I relate to this feeling because I also carry heavy burdens and wish for the same relief from the weight they bring.

I have survived 12 suicide attempts. I made 11 of these attempts when I was a teenager, at ages 13, 15, and 16. Each time I opened my eyes afterward, I was filled with intense tears and sadness, asking, “Why am I still here? Why?”. My last attempt was in 2020 that had me in a coma for two days. I woke up to my husband and three kids holding my hands, their faces wet with tears. Once again, I cried, "Why?" I love my children so much, but even for them, I couldn’t handle the pain.

Every day feels like a challenge, and I continue navigating this deep and difficult journey. I'm in therapy and working hard to rise to the surface.

This book reflects my thoughts and experiences like no other. It is the first time I have read someone else's words that resonate with what I have felt. The ending has shown me a light in a way I have never seen until now.

In the author's words, “The pain is real, and it's heavy. But it isn't forever. It ebbs, it shifts, it softens with time, Even when it feels like it won't. Stay for the chance to prove yourself wrong. Stay for the morning that doesn't feel dark. Stay for the laugh that catches you off guard, for the hug you didn't know you needed. Stay because your story isn't finished, and your chapters, messy as they might be, are worth reading to the end.”

That’s why I love this book so much and have shared my own story as well.

I just want to say how deeply grateful I am for the words shared by Ticus Poetry. Your words resonate with me more than I can express, and I truly appreciate them. Thank you.

"The Final Pause" by Ticus Poetry is a resilient and triumphant collection of sad modern poetry. The poetry focuses on the author's emotional and philosophical exploration of suicide and self-harm. My personal favorite poems from this collection were: "If you're reading this...," "Facts about suicidal people," "What they don't see," "My bed is a coffin," "I wanted to stay," and "Slowly disappearing." The author is a skilled writer whose vulnerability makes this project quite rewarding for those who are willing to walk a little further into the darkness.
