Maybe, Probably

When I found out my ex is currently dating the girl he cheated on me with, I did the only thing I started dating her brother.

It was only suppose to be a one-sided, sneaky social media follow, but when Winston, my beloved dog, needed to see a vet, that’s when I free fell into his life. Literally, tripped and fell, grazing more than just his thigh.

The next time we cross paths, the only thing I stumble on is a brilliant idea– his plan for us to fake date.

It was supposed to start and end on Thanksgiving. It was supposed to be easy.

Now here I am, wearing his sweater at his family’s ski lodge, sharing a bed and falling again– this time head over heels, while realizing nothing between us is fake at all.

He’s been hurt in the past, but will he allow his scars to come between us?

As the first book from Dee and a new author, she did a fabulous job on this book. I've had the book sitting there waiting for me and time got away from me to get it read now I'm totally kicking myself for leaving it this long.

Harper, I just love her, after the heartache with her ex she finds she finds a way to get back at him and it happens to be with her ex's new girlfriend's brother. The petty side of me is 100% all for this and it helps that he is incredibly good looking and loves animals.... swoon incoming.

Xavier, the gorgeous and incredibly sexy vet. Who is more than happy to help Harper with her situation and in return for help getting his mother off his back.
I loved the whole dynamic of the drama they bring. He is the whole package that Harper deserves.

The epilogue left me questioning what happened in a year so I'm hoping I get my answers in the rest of the series
What happened to Chloe and why is she not with Dalton?
Who got Evie pregnant?
Was it Monty? Did she join them?
i have so many questions so I'm excited to see what comes next.

I couldn’t put it down.

The tropes:
Fake Dating the Brother of your ex’s new girlfriend.
One bed
Close proximity
Curvy FMC

What makes it different?

First of all, the people that love Harper are not focus on her body. They don’t try to make her feel better by telling her to embrace her curves or trying to convince her the parts she doesn’t like are actually good. They dont make her feel like her body is a “different type” of beauty. Because when something is beautiful it is just that: it’s beautiful.

AND SHE is beautiful!! And they tell her to Deal with it (with love of course)

You know the way Miranda Bailey in Grey’s Anatomy got all the hot guys and no one question it because we didn’t focus on her body size but just the fact she is gorgeously awesome in and Out and confident about it?

That’s how Xavier sees Harper from the second he saw her: Gorgeous and couldn’t get enough of her.

Second: The communication!
She knew he was the brother of her ex’s new girlfriend when they met in real life by coincidence and told him right away.

He suggested the fake dating and when it got too real for him and his past caught up, even if he wasn’t ready to give details about it; he talked to her. He explained his attitude.

So no lies, no third act breakup bc of miscommunication and that’s refreshing!

Soooo we do love this romance book. We love the MCs and the people that surrounds them!

Warning: The audacity of the ex at the beginning of the book did made me close the book to go for a walk to breathe.
I must also confess, Xavier & Harper have been a bigger person than me at the end of the book.

I binged Maybe Possibly in just 48 hours—and trust me, in my busy life, that’s no small feat. Sleep? Completely optional when a book like this is calling my name. I absolutely devoured every page of this beautifully emotional, deliciously romantic story.

Harper’s journey had me feeling everything—from frustration (Dane, Dalton, whatever his name was 🙄) to full-blown butterflies. And then… Xavier. Oh my God, Xavier. A veterinarian with hands that heal and a presence that commands? Yes, please. The way he cared for Harper—both emotionally and physically—was beyond swoon-worthy. Dominant in the bedroom but endlessly gentle in his care? That man raised my heart rate and my standards. 😮‍💨

The spice? Chef’s kiss. Dee Jordan served up just the right amount of heat—intimate, steamy, and perfectly woven into the emotional arc of the story. Nothing ever felt overdone or gratuitous, and every scene deepened the connection between Harper and Xavier in the best possible way.

I loved how Xavier truly saw Harper—her softness, her strength, her hesitation—and loved her for all of it. Their chemistry crackled, but it was the emotional intimacy that left the deepest mark.

Long story short: I’m obsessed. I’m swooning. I’m absolutely not okay waiting until 2026 for the next book. If you love a romance that balances spice, care, and soul with characters you can’t help but root for—Maybe Possibly needs to be at the top of your TBR.

Maybe, Probably (Love Me, Maybe #1) by Dee Jordan
⭐⭐⭐⭐ — 4 out of 5 stars

Dee Jordan’s new novel is a delightful mix of my favourite romance ingredients: fake dating, revenge, close proximity, and a satisfying happily-ever-after — with the added bonus of an adorable animal cameo that steals scenes.

The story begins with school sweethearts Dalton and Harper, but an unexpected turn flips Harper’s life upside down. In an effort to cope, she adopts an energetic bulldog named Winnie. Thanks to a twist of fate, Winnie brings Xavier into Harper’s orbit, and sparks begin to fly.

Harper is a refreshingly relatable curvy heroine — strong and determined, yet wrestling with self-doubt in ways that give the book emotional depth. The novel features two memorable male leads:
• Dalton, whose focus on appearances and others’ opinions reflects a more surface-level approach to life.
• Xavier, a protector who’s empowered yet vulnerable, hesitant to fully open up due to past wounds.

The banter between characters is sharp and charming, making the story feel light-hearted even while addressing heavier themes like cheating and bereavement. Jordan balances humour, heart, and emotional honesty, resulting in a romance that’s both uplifting and grounded.

Final verdict: Maybe, Probably is fun, engaging, and heartfelt — perfect for readers who love a fake-dating romance with emotional depth and an irresistible dog.

ARC received courtesy of Wings and Words and Dee Jordan in exchange for an honest review.

This was an exceptionally cute story. I’m a huge fan of the fake dating trope and then add in one bed/close proximity and you’ve got me hooked. I have sat and read this book in one sitting because I just needed to know what happened both between the ruse and just with Xavier and Harper. I do believe this is Dee Jordan’s debut novel and I think it was well executed. I’ll definitely be around for book two!

ARC Review.

Awww this was one of the best books I’ve read in a while. It’s funny, serious and loving all at once. How Dalton did that to Harper is beyond me (even though you sort of find out). Enter Xavier who is what everyone dreams off. The protector, the lover and the best friend. How these two meet is hilarious. I have to mention Evie as she is the best friend every girl should have! What starts off as a way to get parents off Xavier back and revenge for Harper turns on into undeniable love, affection and connection.

If you’re craving a romance that’s equal parts hilarious, heartfelt, and hopelessly swoon-worthy, Maybe, Probably by debut author Dee Jordan is your next obsession. This book doesn’t just flirt with your emotions—it sweeps them off their feet and takes them on a joyride through love, vulnerability, and the kind of chemistry that crackles off the page. Xavier and Harper are so relatable you won’t want to put the book down.

From the moment our heroine decides to date her ex’s new girlfriend’s brother (yes, really), you know you’re in for a wild and wonderful ride. What starts as a petty revenge plot quickly spirals into a fake-dating scenario that’s anything but fake. Dee Jordan masterfully blends laugh-out-loud moments (including a thigh-grazing fall that deserves its own rom-com scene) with tender, slow-burn intimacy that builds beautifully.

Winston, the dog, is a scene-stealer. But it’s the leads—flawed, funny, and fiercely lovable—that make this story shine. Their banter is electric, their growth is genuine, and their connection feels like a warm blanket on a cold day. Dee Jordan writes with a voice that’s fresh, witty, and emotionally resonant, making you root for these two from page one.

Dee Jordan may be a new name in romance, but Maybe, Probably reads like the work of a seasoned storyteller. It’s charming, clever, and completely addictive. If this is Book 1 of the “Love Me, Maybe” series, then sign me up for every single sequel. Jordan is a rising star, and this book is a dazzling debut.

I just love a good fake dating story and this puts a different spin on it. Harper's ex leaves her and her bestie thinks she should date the new girl's brother. Harper plays it off until she meets a very cute veterinarian, Xavier, and turns out he's the brother. They decide to fake date to get back at her ex and to help him get his mom off his back.
Spending 3 weeks at the family Lodge during Christmas blurs the lines of their relationship. Xavier has some trauma from his past that keeps him from getting too close. Will he open up to Harper? Can their relationship become more?

I found this book easy to get in to all the characters was enjoyable to read about . Dalton is an arsehos one of those characters that you instantly hate lol . Xavier is my favourite with his animals so adorable i instantly felt for haper and was in my head cheering her on , loved her friendship with her best friend and hapers love for her dog . To some hapers character is relatable in the sense that some experience an ex who breaks up with them for another person and makes it out to be their fault. And haper and Xavier woe you just have to read this amazing book . I loved cuddling on my sofa reading this book hoping for book 2 🤓🤓

Dee Jordan’s “Maybe, Probably” is a delightful rom-com that combines humor, heartfelt moments, and an unexpected twist on love.

The story revolves around Harper, who finds herself navigating the complex emotions of heartbreak and newfound love in the light of an unconventional choice, dating her ex's sister's brother. (Now this is a new one for me 😉)

From the very start, the story is captivating. The main character's initial decision to pursue a relationship with her ex's sister's brother adds an intriguing layer to the story.

The inciting incident… a fumbled meeting with her dog Winston, sets the tone for a comedic yet heartfelt exploration of love, friendship, and family ties.

As the fake-dating scenario unfolds, the interactions between the characters are just adorable. Their banter is sharp, filled with a mix of witty comebacks and genuine tenderness that kept me engaged. Xavier, with his charming personality and hidden vulnerabilities, complements our Harper beautifully. Their evolving relationship feels sincere, transitioning from a playful arrangement to something deeper.

The family dynamics portrayed are realistic and bring an extra layer to the story. The scenes of shared laughter, cozy evenings, and personal revelation effectively drew me into the characters’ lives. The author balances humor with moments of introspection, allowing us to feel the weight of past scars while celebrating the thrill of new beginnings.

In conclusion, “Maybe, Probably” is an engaging and heartwarming read that effortlessly combines humor and romance. Dee Jordan’s writing style flows smoothly, making it hard to put the book down.

Fans of fake-dating romances and character driven stories are sure to find this book a delightful addition to their reading list.

So, If you’re looking for a story that champions love in all its forms, sprinkled with a healthy dose of laughter, this is a must-read.

I was lucky enough to get this as an ARC and I loved every minute of it! Definitely a binge worthy read.

I really enjoyed getting to know these characters and follow along with their story together. There was truly never a dull moment! The chemistry between the two main characters was perfection.

Xavier (MMC), a veterinarian who happens to be Harper’s (FMC) ex’s new girlfriend’s brother? Absolutely loved that connection and the drama that unfolded afterwards.

The humour was on point, especially every name Xavier came up with for Dalton, that had me very amused!

There was such a cute and cosy Christmassy vibe to the latter end of the book as well which I always love.

I really enjoyed this book! If Goodreads did halves, this would be 3.5.

I received it as an ARC and I am so glad I applied for this one. Thank you to Dee Jordan for allowing me to be an arc reader.

Tropes:
~ Fake Dating
~ Revenge
~ Plus size FMC
~ Animal Sidekick
~ Grief
~ Possessive MMC
~ Found Family

I feel like the characters were really well developed so you were involved in their development in the story.

The ending was a gorgeous HEA but with enough loose ends from side characters to keep you on the hook for book 2.

I loved how the genuine insecurities around body image come into play in reactions to things and that someone can have insecurities and be self-conscious but can be confident and proud of who they are.

My only criticism for me: I felt the main FMC moved on quickly into the love. She says she doesn't fall easily but gets out of a 8yr relationship and is totally heartbroken but 2 months later is announcing she is in love with the MMC. It just didn't fit with my reality of heartbreak.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book but I don't feel like it will stay with me and will more than likely need to read again when book 2 is released which is why I have rated it as I have.

This was a perfect rom com 🥰
I read this one in less than 24 hours and it was a wonderful light read to break up all the seriousness going on in the world.
We meet the FMC, Harper, just as her world turns upside down.
I absolutely adore Harper, not only is she a curvy book editor (the dream) she does the thing we all wished we’d done to our ex’s. Not only does she throw all his stuff out into the front garden (LOVED that bit) she then gets even. And in doing so meets our MMC Xavier.. 6f+ animal lover, vet and all around good guy. Who’s only flaw is that he doesn’t date.
The side characters were all well thought out. There’s great chemistry between all the characters and some truly funny and emotional moments.
I can’t wait for the next book in the series!

This book!!
I loved it! Revenge turned romance, what’s not to love!

So picture this, you find out your boyfriend is cheating, not only that but he’s go his side chick knocked up!

What else is there to do in the face of heartbreak than to get a dog? And when said dog need vet care and you’re new vet happens to be the one and only incredibly handsome brother of your exes side chick? Well of course plot a a revenge scheme and accidentally fall in love with him.

Now obviously there is so much more to this book than those few lines but if that doesn’t hook you then I don’t know what will! It covers so manny tropes, fake dating, forced proximity, revenge, a happily ever after that is the cherry on top.

I felt all the emotions reading this, sadness, anger, annoyance, joy and even a little teary eyed. I felt I was really able to connect to Harper, she feels real and vulnerable not like some FMC’s that feel quite detached from reality. Body confidence is something a lot of people struggle with and it was refreshing to see it represented.

Xavier is the type of man we all need backing us, no Dekes around here! And he has a whole mini farm going on, who doesn’t love some sassy animals.

I think this is a wonderful book to cosy up on the couch or in bed with and just forget the world for a while.

A massive thank you to Dee Jordan for letting me ARC read this or you and thank you to the words and wings community for making it possible!

Love, love, loved this book and story.
This was a witty cosy romance with heartbreak, heartache and healing. Definitely an autumn read, with a hot apple cider and a comfy blanket.
I really enjoyed Dee Jordan’s style of writing and she sucked me in with the characters. I do believe Xavier Hawthorne is the book boyfriend for me. Kind, considerate to all needs… with a little cheeky kink in him.
I cannot wait for the next one in the series. Thanks to Dee Jordan and Wings and Words for the opportunity to read this fabulous book.

4.5✨ Omg I really love this book!! It was so so good.
Our Fmc Harper thought she’s had the perfect life until her boyfriend now ex boyfriend decided after 8 years that it wasn’t working out. Partly because shes and his mother (who’s a snob) don’t see eye to eye. But the really reason was he cheated with his receptionist who’s pregnant with his baby. After her breakup and her support best friend helps her she’s decides to adopt a dog Winnie 🥰 poor Winnie is rushed to the vet where she’s meets Xavier the handsome vet who is related to the receptionist her ex cheated on her with. Harper literally falls into Xavier lap and grabs a feel 😂 the next day they see each in a bar and agree to fake date to get back at her ex and to get his parents off his back for being single for so long.

This book was so much fun to read really enjoyed the MC and side characters 😍😍

If you enjoy slow-burn, emotionally grounded stories that lean into character tension and cozy scenarios, this book is for you.

The start of this book was heartbreaking! However it had to happen so we could meet our new book boyfriend and Winston, we can’t forget him! I loved the banter between the characters and the natural progression of the romance. This book is like a warm hug.

This was a charmingly beautiful romance read!

Fake dating, revenge plot, dog cameo (love Winnie) had me sold straight away.

Harper and Xavier are perfectly written into the story, creating a strong connection between them as the story progresses.

Harper has a life changing event with her childhood sweetheart, when she adopts a dog for companionship (Winnie) and this starts a chain of events where Xavier comes into her life.

The couple have great banter and the dog cameo is adorable.

The story gives you some triggering moments (check trigger warnings) but it is vital to the story and the growth of the characters.

It’s a slow burn, but worth it. It wasn’t so slow you lost interest if your an avid smut fan!

This book is a delightful read and I can honestly say I enjoyed it. The drama, tension and emotional rollercoasters start from chapter one. Definitely worth picking this up 😁

Maybe, probably is a fake dating, revenge, romance, he falls first

When Harper finds out that her long time partner dalton cheated she was heartbroken but then she meets Xavier who is the brother to her exs new girlfriend and they fake date to get revenge but end up falling in love! It has a slow burn kind of love but not too slow, the characters really draw you in and it makes for a great love story!

Excited to see if any more books come out in the series and can’t wait to read 💓

Arc review “Maybe, probably” 🩵

Rating: 5✨

Harper’s life is suddenly not her usual life anymore. When her boyfriend, Dalton, breaks up with her because of cheating her with his colleague, she gets a cute dog and meets a hot vet doctor. Xavier is Dalton’s fiancee brother and to get back to them they are in a fake relationship.

Slowly they fall in love and I absolutely loved all of their interactions. As well as how protective Xavier is over Harper’s body and everything. The spicy scenes were so 🥹😍
