Well written and a great read.

Once again a well written page turner. This series provides enjoyable reading with a glimpse of what had to be endured not just on Guadalcanal, but throughout the Pacific theater. I am not diminishing what soldiers ensured in the European theater, but it feels like the Pacific theater was more brutal physically and mentally though I way be way off on that assumption.

A Very Good Read, but flawed

The plotting and character development were excellent. The numerous misused homonyms, missing words in sentences, etc. reveal the weaknesses of self-edited writing. A spell-checker function isn’t enough.

Scott Cook did not miss a step with Book 5. Decker is as engaging as ever; a leader to follow as a subordinate and as a reader. The exploration of Kawaguchi and Oka, Decker's antagonists was well done. What's next for the Marine Raiders? I am looking forward to it!

The fifth book in this series doesn’t disappoint in the telling of Guadalcanal. Putting names and detail to it gives us an interesting story. Recommend this one
