Trish has lost hope.

Monstrous tree creatures with branches for hair and bark for skin have taken and experimented on her. Tortured her. They call themselves dryads and the worst is their tyrannical ruler Cypress. He’s kidnapping and sacrificing humans to save their dying kingdom.

As they’re dragging Trish up to an altar to be fed to their great tree, a happenstance explosion knocks her free…and into the arms of the kingdom’s most wanted man—Linden.

He’s charming. He’s flirty. He lives in a manor atop a waterfall. He rides on a giant fox he raised from a kit. He’s ridiculously handsome for a man made of wood. He’s at war with the mad king Cypress.

And he might be Trish’s last chance.

Not to live, no. Her body’s being eaten from the inside out. She won’t make it past winter. She’s done with being scared, with waiting for a hero, hoping for someone to fix what’s broken.

With Linden’s help, Trish will fight. Fight to live. Fight to save her people. Fight to spend one more moonlit night with her dryad bandit under the stars.

Even if the kingdom’s indomitable General Hickory is coming to stop them, she won’t quit. She won’t give up.

Trish is dying of cancer and Cypress is going to learn what happens when he tries to stop a woman with nothing left to lose.

Arborable is a story that takes place over three books. There will be cliffhangers.

Arborable took tree-hugging to a whole different level and I'm all for it.

I'm used to Ellen Mint's books being hilarious and creative, and this one was no different. So much thought was put into the dryads and their world, from their names to how they look, speak, move, eat, reproduce, and how they came to be (they don't all get "born" the same way or in the same place).

The story was extremely compelling, I didn't want to put it down, I literally had it downloaded on two devices so I could switch back and forth while one of them was charging, I was THAT invested.

Now, you might look at this book and think it's just a silly dryad romance, but!! It's not all sunshine and daisies for dear Trish, she's suffering from cancer and doesn't have long left to live, which makes getting kidnapped by dryads who want to sacrifice her to a giant tree extremely inconvenient.

Luckily, there's a devilishly handsome rogue dryad who rescues her, and takes her under his wing, or should I say...bark?

He also happens to ride on a giant fox called Valpuri, who is just the cutest not-so-little thing. More Valpuri in the sequel please!!

Linden teaches Trish how to fight, which is something she desperately needs, and it serves her well on many occasions. I love how she refused to give up, even if she was missing a core part of herself, she still got back up to try again.

Romance wise, I'm in love with both Linden and Hickory, and really like Willow and Ryder (from what we've seen of them so far). I'm glad we got to see Trish with Hickory in this book because I don't know if I would've survived till book two, hah.

I have to mention the pollen!! I'm of the firm belief that (REDACTED) would've pollinated (REDACTED) if they weren't already...you know. I'm curious about that storyline, and what will happen to the child when it arrives.

Speaking of children, Ash is one of my favourite characters, she's such a pure soul, I hope she made it out and we'll see her in book two.

There's also some secrets that will hopefully be revealed, like more of Linden's past and why he said what he did about Trish going back to the human world.

And then there's that ending...I had a feeling something like that would happen, it was an excellent cliffhanger. I can't wait to know more.

Pleaseeee pick up this swashbuckling dryad romance today, you won't regret it.

*Thank you to the amazing author for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review*

Arborable has a different take on your usual fantasy creatures - no sexy vampires, werewolves, angels, Fae shifters here. Arborable, as alluded to in the punny title, has dryads, complete with bark, shrubs, leaves, and the ability to use roots. They are humanoid enough for us to have a very spicy romantasy.

Our heroine, Trish, is a human that has been kidnapped with other humans from a fairly urban world that knows nothing of the dryad's kingdom. These humans are being used for experiments, and most are eventually used as food for a giant food producing tree by order of their evil leader, Ri Cypress. Trish manages to escape (with help that she doesn't realize happened), and she falls in with a band of rebels led by Linden. Curiousity and sparks and some super spicy scenes ensue while the rebel storyline continues, and after an attack by Ri's general, Hickory, Trish becomes convinced that HIckory will help her escape the arbor lands back to the human world.

At this point, you start to get the sense that the experimentation on Trish has led her to become quite the altered magically fertile human-ish person. Trish and Hickory have magnetic spiciness, and we've had stories of human/dryad interactions that led us strongly into a sense that Trish is going to be important for all of the arbor kingdom. Cue the cliffhanger, and you'll be ready for the next installment in the story.

Tree-humanoids takes imo a little bit more suspension of disbelief, but it makes for a more memorable entry in the romantasy/urban romantasy genre. If you like the Merry Gentry series from Laurell K. Hamilton, this book series should work for you.

There are some definite missed opportunities for editing for clarity, word choice, and grammar throughout the book, but the story and concept help gloss over most of it. Thanks to Victory Editing Netgalley Co-op for providing this book for review consideration via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

A brilliant start to a new dryad romance series

A great start to a dryad romance, full of twists, kidnapping, spice, love, adventure, secrets, discovery, humor, a tree top home above a waterfall, a large fox and a god of flowers.

When things don't seem to be able to get any worse for Trish, she finds herself in a new world; ruled by tree dryads, though they're not kind and gentle. When she has the opportunity she runs but ends up being caught by a group of rebels lead by Linden, a dryad a bit like Robin Hood. He is a real rogue gentleman and attraction starts to develop between them while he teaches her how to fight.
"Do not worry. While the Lime Menace is known to thieve anything that pleases him, virtue is not on the list."
"Unless you wish me to."

But they're still being hunted by the general of the dryad army, Hickory, though he seems to have secrets of his own.

I love the world Ellen has created in this book, with Trish learning about the dryads at the same time as teaching them about humans; and everything has been well thought through, with the dryads roots (feet), branches (hair), etc. I couldn't put this down and can't wait to find out what happens with Linden, Trish, Hickory and Willow; I also hope we see more of Ash again in the "Seeds of Hope" book 2.

I received an ARC copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I really enjoyed the first book of this new series!! Seeds of Hope is the perfect name for this series, because it’s a main theme throughout the story. Ellen Mint really creates these unique, interesting and brand new worlds with her books. I really enjoy reading about these cool and different worlds!! I really liked the FMC and MMC in this book ♥️ Linden is a rebel, a fighter and a protector. Once he meets Trish, she steals his heart ♥️ and it also gets a little steamy 🔥 He’s also a tree (It’s a unique fantasy 🍃🤎☺️😉). Trish is so strong!! She’s been through so much, in her young life, but she decides to come back swinging!! She’s an amazing and inspirational character❣️I definitely can’t wait to find out what happens next!!
Trish has nothing to lose. She’s been delivered some bad news. That doesn’t mean she accepts being kidnapped and taken to be sacrificed to a horrible ruler!! In Trish’s world, humans are at the bottom of the food chain, where they are tortured, and taken to Cypress’s kingdom to be fed on so he can save his own “people.” Just as Trish is about to be killed, Linden, attacks Cypress’s kingdom. They’re at war!! Linden is a wanted “man” (tree). He’s also fighting for his “people.” In the process of the attack, Linden saves Trish, who is ready to join the fight…….
I recommend this book 🩵🦋💙

Trish has had it. She accepted her terminal medical diagnosis, getting adultnapped to a new world, nearly being fed to a giant tree, and her new life living in with an outlaw tree man. What she doesn't accept is how she didn't have a say in any of it. She's so done with this. Feminine rage is a powerful tool, and Trish is ready to reclaim everything stolen from her through sheer willpower and determination. If only she wasn't being betrayed by her own body and heart.

Trish is a powerhouse of a woman. She doesn't give up, despite the odds stacked against her. Despite sometimes having to crawl her way through, she's still moving forward. Linden, the outlaw, was a complex character. Only seeing a glimpse of his true nature, we have to put together the bits and pieces to see through his carefully constructed facade. Hickory, though only a player on the board towards the end of the book, also presented a challenge to the image we are led to believe about this world. I'm eager to see how the next book plays out after that cliffhanger of an ending because I'm so invested in my new goal for Trish to burn everything to the ground. I'm ready for her to reclaim her life by any means necessary.

There are some authors that I will read no questions asked. Ms. Mint is one of those authors. I this book had me curious from the start. How on earth would Ms. Mint create a world of romance with a tree. Well, she did it. Superbly, I might add. This book has adventure, danger and mystery. Ms. Mint created another world for readers to dive into. This book will take readers on a journey. Trish Delaney was taken by a group of people that looked like trees. The dryads took her to be a sacrifice to the gods of Seeds and the golden tree to continue to nourish the nation. With the help of several quietly dissenting dryads, Trish was able to get free and fall into the hands of the Blighted Masks.

The Blighted Masks were led by Linden, the Lime Menace. Linden and his band of outlaws took care of Trish and made sure she was well. They are against the followers of the Ri. The Masks are just trying to survive. Trish found a home with the Masks. The attraction between Linden and Trish exceeded all boundaries. Trish helped save a seedling, Ash. During the battle, Trish was hurt. The Masks helped Trish learn to live with her injury and taught her how to fight. Trish knew she did not want to go back to being a sacrifice. These were her people. They accepted Trish. Ya’ll this is the tip of the iceberg. There is so much more to this story. I’m sorry to say that it does end in a cliffhanger. We started a series and I am here for the ride. I will admit I wavered on what rating to give this book until I thought about how invested I was throughout. I could not put the book down. These trees will keep readers interested in this story of survival.

This is such an interesting concept for a romance novel. As a heads up, there is a cliffhanger because this is part of a three book series. Trish is kidnapped and taken to a different world where the "people" are actually a mix of trees and people. Their kingdom is dying and the ruler's thought is to sacrifice humans to the great tree. Trish is basically tortured at the palace in preparation for the sacrifice. Then an explosion happens and she has a chance to get away with fellow captive Ryder. She escapes only to be taken by the rebels. Even though Trish escapes the palace she still is not out of the woods. I don't want to give too much away but just when you think things are looking up something happens and things turn south.
You can't help but root for Trish and her hopeful escape and love to find her. The story keeps you on edge but it is such a cool story. I can't wait to see what happens in the next two books.
I received this story as an ARC and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

Different And Funny
In the world of dryads, or tree people, human are considered vermin and OK to experiment on. Trish is one of those people, captured, taken into the dungeon at the Citadel and mistreated. Until there was a chance to escape. It landed her with rebels. The world building is extremely well done, the way the dryads’ bodies work is well thought through, if even sometimes a bit confusing. Wonderful characters, realistic emotions and POV's, leaving some secrets to be discovered (I hope).
A tale with all kinds of twists and turns. And a very unexpected cliffhanger end, it leaves me wanting more. I'm also curious to know what the thoughts were behind 'the experiment' and what will happen to Linden, Hickory and Willow. And Trish, of course.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

‼️‼️Please check your trigger warnings your mental health matters to us we don’t want anyone triggered.‼️‼️

For me this book was a curious blend of monster romance, dyrad conflicts, kidnapping, experimentation, and rebellion.
So here’s a little sneak peak of what you will find in this book Humans are totally being captured and fed to a tree, Trish is trying to figure out what is happening and how she can get home, but instead she's caught in the middle of a fight, trying to survive, and falling for tree people. It's fast paced, original and spicy.

Them Bad Branches
Ellen always brings her quirky talent to us in her oddly unique stories.
This one... a rehomed human and forest dwellers in a big tiff with each other.
She didn't know where she was, she did know it wasn't Kansas 🙂
With the natives they their bite is as bad as their bark.
Pretty fun world and interesting characters. Definitely drama, Definitely heat. With the War of the Roses sort of and human sacrifices. *gasps* have fun and enjoy.

This book arrived in my email so immediately it was uploaded to my Kindle. The next day at lunch the story of Trish was started. At 72% it dawned on me that nothing read was retained. The only thing I know for a fact was the FMC is named Trish. Why is that significant? My alter ego, or drunken party, name is Trashy Trish.

Just Trish

This is one amazing world that Ellen has created. The dryads are pure perfection. Even with their ancient and pure history they still end up with problems. So when Trish ends up where she doesn't belong this tale spins a story most intriguing. It's full of excitement, steamy trysts but most of all plenty of action to keep those pages turning I can't wait for the sequel!

Wow what a fabulous fantasy book! This world of dryad tree-like people made for an excellent start to Trish's story. The Valpuri may be my favorite fantasy create ever!! Experiencing the "blooming" love & romantic relationships in the story was so much fun. I absolutely loved this book & can't wait to see what happens next!!

This is a great start to the series. The world building is unique, with some interesting characters. Trish has had a rough time, she is tough and fights through everything she comes across. This story is fast paced, action packed and spicy. If you like monster romance and cliffhangers, this read is for you. I look forward to reading the next in the series.

This is book 1 in the seeds of hope and when I met Trish I didn't think there was going to be any hope. But this is an excellent fantasy where the world that it is placed in is beautiful and seems so real. Trish has a rough time especially when she captured by a tree but she pulls through. This is a fast read, steamy and original and I loved it.

Oh so different from my typical read…and I Loved It!

The world-building was totally awesome!

The characters…fell in love!

I don't typically read romantasy, but, I'm hoping that this is not just One Story! Since the title has "Seeds of Hope Book 1," I have my fingers crossed for more!

This is a good book! It is different than anything else I have ever read. I have never read anything about dryads before and I love the way they are described as having bark for skin. I was really wondering how the smut was gonna work with his skin being bark. I really like Linden and I do like the general. I don't know if she is supposed to be with both of them though. I will just have to read the next one to find out. I didn't like the twist towards the end. To me it makes n o sense. That knocked it down a star for me. i feel like we also lost the plot for a minute. The wants to help the humans but nothing is really happening for her to help them.

A fun and pleasant surprise. I’ve gotten use to Ellen’s unique stories and this one definitely had me intrigued from the blurb alone. Trish is definitely a fighter and someone I found myself rooting for the entire time (pun intended) An interesting twist on your typical dystopian style romance that I found myself really enjoying. Can’t wait to see what the rest of the series has in store for us!

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for my e-ARC. All opinions are my own.

Though this book is not fully what I had anticipated or normally would read, I would say that it is written well and covers thought provoking themes such as grappling with a terminal illness and oppression.

This book would suit someone who enjoys monster romances (with a little touch of horror).
