On the brink of a war, Gabe is not looking for any distractions that could weaken him, but at a celebration his brother dragged him to, he meets his mate. A wild woman that will do anything to run away from him. The only problem is that his enemies can use her to weaken him, leaving him no choice but to keep her in his pack.
Emma’s plan was to run away all along. She is tired of being punished for the power she has no control over. She understands that she is a danger to everyone around her, but she doesn’t want to hurt because of that.
With the danger of war and her power spiraling out of control, Emma wants to find a way to escape while Gabe wants to keep her locked in the mansion until everything is over. Unfortunately for Gabe, she is not the submissive type, and he likes control.
The book is about Gabe, the alpha werewolf and Emma the witch. They meet at a party where neither of them wants to be, but soon find out they are each other’s mate. Gabe wanted a submissive type because he likes control, only to find out that Emma is completely opposite of that. With an oncoming war they have to work together and hopefully it will bring them together.
The story jumps right in the first encounter between Gabe and Emma. I like a strong FMC who doesn’t back down from a challenge and can take care of herself. From the first moment she’s introduced you can tell she’s going to be a handful and I absolutely love that she’s not just instantly submitting to Gabe. Gabe in return learns to be more attentive and patient which also helps with his pack. The dynamic between the two is what makes them an amazing couple. I really feel like they make each other better and that together they’re complete. It’s also nice to see Gabe’s soft side with Emma, even though he’s the big bad alpha wolf.
I give this book 4 stars. It’s a fast paced and heartwarming book. I also love the funny banter between Gabe and Emma. If you’re looking for a book that has hunky werewolves, powerful witches and lots of magic, this is definitely the book for you.
A story of fated mates, power, and control - it’s The Alpha’s Witch.
When Emma escorts her friend to a ball to find her mate, the last thing she expects - or wants - is to discover she too has a shifter mate. Not just any shifter either - Alpha Gabriel.
After Gabe *insists* on taking Emma home to be his Luna, it’s fairly safe to say their relationship is not off to a good start. He discovers very quickly that Emma is both fiercely independent and phenomenally powerful. Will he continue to underestimate her, or is there room for flexibility in his pride?
I enjoyed this PNR. Part of a series of standalones, it was easier to read by itself than the previous book in this series. It has strong themes surrounding strong women, abuses of power, and bending in a relationship to form a partnership.
It is a slow burn open door romance. The book does deal with childhood trauma and memory loss.
If you want a novella with strong women, lots of banter and a whole lot of magic, this is a great book to add to your TBR.
An Alpha's Witch is part of a series but can be read as a standalone. While it stands on its own, it felt necessary to read the other books to get a better understanding of the world and some characters mentioned in the story.
The book is advertised as fast-paced with an angry FMC and grumpy MMC, and it certainly delivers on those points. In the first few pages, you're immediately introduced to the main characters and brought right into action. It reads more like a novella and while it heavily focuses on character growth, there are times when relevant plot information is reduced to a couple of sentences.
Overall it was a good story. I liked Emma's journey of self-discovery and the emphasis on strong female characters. However, I would have preferred a better balance between tension between MCs and everything else.
Zoey Hayes' An Alpha's Witch is the fourth installment of the Underworld Series. This book surpassed the others in the series, as it masterfully wove together characters from preceding books, fostering a sense of completion. Although marred by a higher number of spelling errors and auto-correct errors, the book's compelling narrative and the witty repartee between Emma and Gabe made for an enjoyable read.
I am very appreciative of Zoey Hayes and their team for the opportunity to read an e-ARC of An Alpha’s Witch!
This was such a fun, fast-paced read! Emma and Gabe’s relationship was so entertaining to see unfold. I like how connected and in tune Gabe became with Emma.
I loved how powerful Emma was, and the fact that she never tried to dim her light for others. I also really enjoyed learning about Emma’s magic and her past!
I received this book for free as an ARC. This book is a standalone within a series of standalones. I really enjoyed the world building, the depth the characters have, and their growth through the book as they learn to move forward in life together after being fated so unexpectedly. They work though challenges and push each other to grow, showing partnership rather than dominance from one side or the other only, which I enjoyed as well. This was a fun dynamic read that kept me very entertained!
All Emma the witch has ever wanted is to be free, so when a chance encounter brings her in contact with her mate, she is not pleased. Emmas plan, survive long enough to escape Gabe and his dominating personality ; but what happens when she starts to enjoy it?
I was lucky enough to receive an eARC for this read. This is a fun, fast paced novella, the chemistry between Emma and Gabe is great, but these characters have also endured hardship (check the TWs)
Tropes - One Bed - Enemies to lovers - Fated mates
Pros - Fiesty redhead FMC - Dual POV - This book contains well highlighted kink (BDSM) and has been handled very well alongside the back story
Cons -There's a trope towards the ending that's not my personal favourite, but I think it does add to the personal development of our FMC
Overall rating: 4/5 Adding the rest of the Underworld series to be TBR
Emma and Gabe were like fireworks. Emma's refusal to submit and Gabes refusal to back down.
I really like how he did put in some effort to make her feel comfortable and open up to him. I also loved seeing some familiar faces from previous books 🤭
Five 🌟Spice 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ I enjoyed the story of Gabe and Emma . Story and character development was great. Grabbed my attention and hard to put down once I started. Will definitely read more books by this author.
3.25⭐ This was not a bad book... But the pacing was so fast that the plot seemed a bit lost and random sometimes. I had a really good laugh with it tho because there were a few times where it almost felt like a parody.😂
Gabe and Emma's story is such a great fast-paced story. I enjoyed how Emma and her magic and how powerful she is. Gabe is so entertaining and I totally enjoyed how he was connected with Emma.
