Book Review Lessons in Falling A Novella Written By Alexandra Hale Fiction - Romance Published February 2026 139 Pages ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This is a quick romance between two neighbors helping each other out. He is the inexperienced hero. She is the heroine who is in danger. Being neighborly leads to romance between Kingsley and Royce. Kingsley is the sassy soccer player who may have a stalker. Royce is the awkward computer nerd who works in cybersecurity. He needs some pointers on social interaction skills. She needs to find out who is sending her weird messages. Their close proximity leads to some steamy situations for Kingsley and Royce. The situation with the stalker adds an element of suspense to this romance.
Absolutely adorable and fun! I loved how this took place in Nashville at the same time as Nessa’s book took place in Blackstone Falls! Ahhh!!
Kinsely is big and bad in the outside but she has a soft underbelly. Royce is shy and quiet but starts to find his inner confidence while they spend time together. She tries to break up with him and he doesn’t let her. It’s so fun seeing a bit of Alpha personality come out.
I flew through this one and read it in one sitting. It was short, sweet, a little spicy, and splash of mystery-keeping me intrigued and invested in these two!
I love this authors ability to pack so much depth into her novellas. Kinsley is so much more than her famous soccer player persona-She is fierce, strong with a big heart and a softer side she shows very few. She offers dating lessons to her shy neighbour, Royce-but has zero intention to fall. They both have their own insecurities, which brought some emotion to the story. I loved them together, seeing them realize how good they were for one another and to be accepted for their true selves was amazing. Watching Royce gain confidence in and out of the bedroom was so good! That man is swoon worthy and the perfect guy for Kinsley.
The added bit of mystery and suspense surrounding the mystery texts Kinsley receiving really kept me guessing right to the reveal!
Loved the introduction into Alexandra’s next book featuring Tom Oakden (Royce’s uncle). I can’t wait to read that one!
Love reading this story ! Starts with a prologue 2 years in the past with Kinsley walking into her building where she has a apartment stops at the desk and talks with Donald and he ask her if she would help a young man by the mailboxes. She goes to the mailboxes where a young man is having problems with a couple of girls and what Kinsley says to the girls made me laugh. when the girls leave she ask the young man his name he told her Royce. Chapter one Present day and Kinsley walks into the coffee shop where Royce is having trouble with some girls again and she helps him then they sit and talk. Kinsley ask him for his help with a problem and in turn she will be his dating coach which Royce accepts. Love how the relationship is going and both end up falling in love with each other but don't tell each other. Had to keep reading to find out what is going on and chapter 25 something happens and Royce has to ask his Uncle Tom for help. Love the ending and look forward to reading more of Alexandras books.
Alexandra Hale infuses this well paced novella with emotion, laughs, steam and touch of suspense.
I fell insanely in love with Royce and Kinsley's dynamic - the teasing between them has elements of fun and steam. His shyness and awkwardness pairs well with her boldness to create some deliciously funny and smexy interactions. There is alot of vulnerability in their story, especially on Kinsley's part and Royce's repeated caretaking melted my heart. There was an element of suspense in their story and it so well written. Alexandra Hale created a feeling of tension and fear as all the events culminated in conflict.
A wonderful addition to the Blackstone Falls series.
A romance novella featuring a sweet to lovers storyline with a bit of suspense. I really liked the mutual support that was forefront in their relationship. Roy protects Kinsley from her ex and she decides to help him by being his dating coach…only to find that through their close proximity they might just fall for each other. (Of course they do because a HEA is what makes a good romance! That’s why I love them!) Looking forward to more in this series!
I took a chance and went for a ride. This book is not what I was expecting, but it held my attention. Kinsley, a celebrity soccer player offers a friend dating lessons, but ends up falling herself. Messages from an unknown number shifts Royce into top gear to trace and trace this menace. A short read that kept my attention.
This book was so much fun to read. It was continuously making me giggle snort. The things that go through Royce’s mind and the things that come out of his mouth are hilarious. It’s short, well written and has a lot of great steam. I kinda liked that Kinsley was the athlete and he was a non-ripped guy. The stalker I figured out pretty quickly. However, it wasn’t until near the end that I realized it was a reverse age gap story. I will definitely be reading more by the author.
A short novella with all the spice and a little action. Loved the story. And the premise behind it. Great characters. Roy and kins are perfect For one another.
This was one of my top books I’ve read in October. I was obsessed with Roy. He was so shy and awkward, a gamer/ computer nerd, which was cute. But then when Kinsley offered to be his dating coach in exchange for helping with her stalker, the change in Roy’s confidence was out of this world. The moo on him 🥵 Kinsley and Roy were perfect for each other.
