I’m confident. A little grumpy. I’m never afraid to speak my mind. I’ve got curves for days, and hair the color of a summer sky.
All that tends to leave an impression.
So when he shows up two years after ghosting me, acting like we’ve never met, I’m more thrown than I care to admit.
Salvatore Gallo is shy, brilliant, and only speaks when he means it. He’s the CEO of a billion-dollar cyber security company, but he blushes when I tease him and watches me like I’m a code he can’t quite crack.
He’s still the same man who made my heart flutter with a single, intense stare.
And now he’s asking for a second chance.
I should say no. I want to. But this time he’s not hiding how much he wants me and I’m as drawn to him as ever.
The problem? He is hiding other things. Like the three kids who’ve become his entire world. Choices he’s made. And a life I’m not sure I’m ready to be part of.
But Salvatore Gallo is patient. Persistent. Devastating in the way he shows up for me, again and again.
He’s chasing me, and I don’t know how much longer I can keep pretending I don’t want him to catch me.
“I love you too, and I would give you anything. Don’t you know that?”
I love everything this author writes! She has a gift for creating real characters that feel like people you could meet. Her stories always have heart and make you feel so many emotions.
"To the Chase" is about Salvatore Gallo, a patient man who has been chasing Bea for a long time. She has been running away from him and fighting her feelings. But she reaches a point where she cannot pretend anymore that she doesn't want him.
Salvatore is amazing. He is autistic, and Julia Wolf writes him so well. He is hardworking, devoted to Bea, and his way of seeing the world is beautiful. He is patient and caring, and you can't help but love him. Bea is strong and independent. She has a fun personality and is very understanding. She loves Salvatore in a beautiful way, even when things get difficult.
Salvatore reminds me of people I know, and that makes the story feel real. The way he loves Bea is pure and honest. Their relationship feels right and comfortable. If you like romance books with heart and real characters, you will love this book. It made me laugh, cry, and feel so much.
You might want to read all of Julia Wolf's books after this one!
this was one of the books that i’ve most anticipated this year but it kinda let me down. don’t get me wrong i loved all the characters especially fmc (BEA 🧎♀️) but i still have trust issues with Tore. and that Sam situation could have handled earlier. i love reading black cat fmc, shy nerd mmc in general and this is a good one except little details.
I'm writing this review literally right after closing the book because I have so many feelings I need to get out—but at the same time, most of them are spoilers, so I’ll do my best to focus all my emotions into a spoiler-free explosion of words. Let’s begin…
OH-MY-GOD. Salvatore Gallo just catapulted himself straight into my TOP 20 literary boyfriends/husbands. Did I see it coming? Nope. Am I thrilled to say it out loud? ABSOLUTELY. You know that scene from Queen Charlotte when George says, “Oh my god, my wife is so beautiful”? That is Salvatore, from the very moment he first lays eyes on Bea. And honestly? It might be one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever read. Reading this book felt like a balm to my heart. For a moment, I was Beatriz—falling headfirst into Salvatore’s arms, and not even thinking about looking back.
Now let’s talk about the plot. I was left staring into the void like ????? more than once, fully convinced something was going to destroy us. There are secrets (yes, one of the tropes is secret identity), and I swear I almost d-- BUT Julia, I love you. Thank you for not feeding us pointless drama, but rather giving us real solutions. I appreciate that more than I can say.
Also, the tech setting of this book? SO GOOD. Everything about that world—modern, fresh, and smart—was woven in seamlessly and made the story even more addicting.
To sum it all up: this book was soft, emotional, comforting, and beautiful. It has officially earned a spot in my comfort shelf.
Listen, I'm always gonna STAN Julia Wolf. This book was great in so many ways and I'd put it up against pretty much any other new release I've read lately. But also as a Julia Wolf STAN, I have incredibly high standards and I had great expectations for Salvatore and Bea.
I will say, Sal lived up to a lot that I wanted from him. He was the start of this book in a lot of ways for me. He was a complex mix of so many things I love, and he had those slutty little glasses that we deserve in our hot nerds. He is Neuro-divergent and he looks at things a little differently, giving him a real intense aspect. He is a guardian to his late sister's kids and he basically co-raises them with their grandpa. He is perfection. He was also completely obsessed and would do anything for Bea.
Bea was the odd element to this one for me. It's hard to pinpoint why, I always love JW's "girls who are too much". She has made them a staple in her series and I usually love them. There was just something about her character that didn't quite ring true for me. She jumped to conclusions every other second and usually as JWs characters begin to learn one another, they start to read the room better. I don't want to totally pick it apart, but she was the weak link to this one for me.
I want to re-iterate, that JW is still better than most and I will continue to eagerly await her next release.
4 Stars 3 on the spice scale
CW: loss of a sibling, gas-lighting
*Thank you to the author for an ARC of this title.*
I adore Julia Wolf's books! She really knows how to craft some amazing billionaire romances, and this latest one is no exception. Bea and Salvatore are such a refreshing duo. Even though their personalities are quite different, it’s clear they’re meant to be together. Bea meets Sal while waitressing at a bar, and right from their first conversation, there’s this instant connection. But then Sal unexpectedly ghosts her, and they don’t cross paths again until two years later.
Bea is a fantastic character—confident, independent, and a little grumpy, but never holds back when it comes to speaking her mind. I enjoyed her personality, and her backstory adds depth to her character; it made me understand her hesitance about letting Sal back into her life. And Sal? He might be the cutest MMC ever! He’s smart, a bit shy and awkward, but also super protective and caring. He is also a gentleman, so thoughtful, and a consent king!
I loved how determined Sal was to win Bea back. He’s so devoted to her and genuinely wants to be in her life. The fact that he’s been caring for her from a distance all these years, without her knowing, totally melted my heart. He continually shows up to prove he’s serious about their relationship, which is just so sweet! And Bea’s sensitivity to Sal’s feelings and her protective nature towards him make their relationship even more special.
I also loved Sal’s nephew and nieces, Lacey, Talon, and Scarlet. Their bond with Bea, especially through her adorable dog, Benjamin, was delightful. Sal's dad brought some fun moments too; I found myself laughing at his antics! Overall, this book is a wonderful feel-good romance with just the right mix of angst and some steamy moments. If you’re a fan of billionaire romances, I highly recommend giving it a read!
I dislike this book so much I don’t even want to spend time thinking about it. ———————————-
But here we go: my apologies in advance for my rant ‼️‼️ - Neurodivergent hero - love the idea of this; have read several other books who have done this right…. where they really let us see and understand their feelings/challenges. This is not one of them. It feels like Tore’s autism is being used as a prop or as way to explain his lying and obsession. Very uncool. - Annoying FMC - Bea literally took $500 from his friend to pretend that she’s interested in him, even tho she actually is. Once they’re together, she never tells him about this. No doubt his conniving terrible business partner is going to use this at the end of the book against them. - Terrible communication throughout - she doesn’t talk to him about her terrible childhood, raising and losing her siblings. He doesn’t tell her that he’s parenting his sister’s kids after her death, like - wah?? ughhhh. Do you talk to each other AT ALL??? What is this relationship based on? Oh right - she looks like Marilyn Monroe and “gets him” and he’s stupid handsome, powerful, and wears glasses. Great. - The stalking/obsession - I eat up a good stalking romance, but again, this isn’t it. Hes “talking” to her through an AI app. Seriously? He buys her house for her, sends business her way, stalks her in his car, has completely infiltrated her life and she’s like - shrug. Ok. Sounds good. Also, the whole chasing around the house thing… this happened once at the beginning and then never again… why are we throwing random things into this story? - Third act breakup. I cannot with this. She loves his kids before she knows their history, but isn’t necessarily mad that he LIED to her about all the things, she just doesn’t want kids and doesn’t explain a thing to him. What?? I mean, he knowingly has a whole ass family living across the street from her and doesn’t tell her, so fair. But there is no communication happening. And then when they get back together they have crazy sex before they EVEN TALK ABOUT THE KIDS.
I’m done. Dead. Don’t care about these idiots anymore.
- also, her calling him “baby” and “a good boy” made my eyes bleed.
I’ve read so many Julia Wolf books and loved them, I feel like this was written by an entirely different person.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Another book with all the feels. It has twists and turns, happiness and tears, love and betrayal and also a gorgeous found family, good friends and the all-important HEA. Despite this book being almost 400 pages, I flew through it, being unable to put it down for very long when life interrupted. I was hooked on the highly loveable main characters and their inner circles. I loved the recurrence of couples from previous books in the series and I really really hope Ben is next in line for a HEA cos he is too lovable like a puppy.
Loved this book SO MUCH! This one is up there with one of my all-time fave romance novels (P.S. You’re Intolerable - also by Julia). I see this book being one I re-read from time to time like I’ve done with the other fave too. It’s just so, so good.
Apart from great the quality of the writing itself, the MCs are what make this! Salvatore and Bea are fantastic. They are clear individuals with great characteristics but come together and complement each other so well! I truly just loved both of them and then the story around them and the other characters all go so beautifully together.
Salvatore is an autistic MMC and Julia just writes it so right. Lots of parts remind me of my own (autistic) guy - even some things like studying Bea’s body, like her toes, so closely 😂 Absolutely loved Salvatore! Him as a character and his development in this book melted my heart (and broke it a bit too). Even aside from that, his utter devotion to Bea is absolutely lovely and he’s clearly brilliant in his work which is hot (yay competence!)
I also just loved Bea so much - she has a fun personality with a bit of this no-nonsense independent streak and is also loving, innately understanding, and strong. I adore how she loves and sees Salvatore.
They both have issues that make things shaky for a bit but underlying it is a really sweet love where they kind of fall lock-step with each other. There’s an acceptance and level of comfort each other that just works - it feels “right”.
Toward the end my heart was breaking for Salvatore and I identified with Bea and how she approached things with him in that situation so well. As I said, he reminds me a lot of my autistic partner and I think I am similarly a fierce supporter of his insides in the way Bea is. Loved it. I think anyone would love it but it felt extra special and lovely to me.
Those parts at the end had me just crying in the coffee shop!! Couldn’t help it. Then all the family and friend stuff just warmed my heart and made me cry more. Excellent ending.
Just a couple of other bits to add - there are a few open-door scenes and also a little bit of fun, but hot, chase-and-hide play 🔥
There is stalking (light stalking IMO), which can be bothersome for some people - for me it worked in this and didn’t bother me at all but be aware!
Julia just can’t go wrong for me, there’s only a couple other authors that are this consistently GOOD for me and I read 200-300 romances a year. Just such smooth, solid, genuine romances and I can’t get enough. Excellent quality. Highly recommend the book!
5/5 ⭐️
I received an advance copy of the book and have left my honest, influence-free review
4.75⭐️ | 2.85🌶 Dare I say this is my favourite of the series thus far...? I absolutely adored Bea and Sal and just... everyone (except Sam iykyk). I was giddy all the time and never wanted this to end. It very much reminded me of Ana D'Arcy's Binary Hearts Trilogy and I loved that. I hate what Bea, Sal and the kids had to go through to get to where they are but they came stronger because of it. Also, I LOVE Ben. I'm so ready the rest of Wells' stories.
4.75🌟! There are some book that are a complete joy to even think about— this was one such book.
I adored Beatrice and Salvatore to bits! They were such a sweethearts. So protective, caring and loyal to each other. They had their faults but that just made it more realistic. Bea was the epitome of bold, beautiful and confident. But the wounds she carried in herself were deep. Who wouldn’t love a nerdy, shy hero who is also a billionaire extraordinary and love to lowkey stalk and make his woman’s m life easier?!!! This book had so many amazing scenes. I tell you Salvatore Gallo was perfect! Infact the whole Gallos were special! I loved them so much.
The found family- Friendships in this series is top tier. They all were wonderful and hilarious together. I loved the epilogue so much. Can’t wait to read more from this author. Recommended and safe. Yes, they were celibate during separation.
I love this author and enjoyed this one right now....on a reread who knows 😂.
We come to Bea's story, she's the little bit mean bombshell with the mysterious billionaire stalker? and bestie of the previous hs. Here we get to finally know Bea and meet her sexy nerdy H Salvatore Gallo. Two years ago the two met when she was just a struggling waitress and he was captivated. His friend paid her $500 🤦🏽♀️to "pretend" interest in him but Bea was already interested in the blushing glasses wearing stud. Unfortunately things didn't go to plan and we fast forward to them meeting again two years later to find that he'd ghosted her. As the story unravels we find out why and get to meet the other members of Sal's family. The situation with his friend was predictable from the very beginning but I still enjoyed watching it unfold, I wanted more bang for my buck with his comeuppance though. Nevertheless this was a sweet, sexy and much needed win for me.
****** no cheating it's implied they'd both been celibate in the two years apart
talking about a man OBSESSED and FIXATED
What an absolutely beautiful book. 10 star read for sure! Salvatore and Bea just might be my favorite couple JW has written-- and his connection to Elena?!?! I. SQUEALED. Ahhh, I love all the Easter eggs in these books!
The romance was done so right here -- Sal may not be a dominant hero, but his love for Bea and his family was loud and pure. I loved the way his mind worked, how thoughtful and deliberate he was with his intentions. He was just so pure and good -- even though he was a light stalker. Or a soft stalker I should say, but he only did it to protect her, so honestly, who could hold it against him?
**Full RTC, just now that this is the perfect romance!
I have been waiting for beas book for what felt like forever but im so glad I finally read it.
I love how bea and salvator was just drawn to each from the moment they met.
sal is autistic and bea just accepts him which as someone who is autistic themselves. I love to read about.
sal is also a tech billionaire who runs his own company and thats where him and bea run into each other again after all these years.
I loved the fact that there was a crazy dog it just felt perfect for the book.
I really enjoyed this book and im so happy I got to read it. You learn a lot about bea and the reason she is the way she is. Also she's a curvy queen.
id rate the spicy scenes 🌶🌶🌶🌶 out of 5. id say this a little bit of a slow burn but there are quiet a few spicy scenes leading up to before they finally get together.
This was not for me at all. The whole plot point with the AI threw up such red flags I could not get over the ick this made me feel. Overall, I found the plot kinda boring and the main characters both felt like paper caricatures of stereotypes rather than real people. Disappointing read.
Another sweet story from Julia Wolf. I was so excited to get Bea’s book and it’s my new favorite from the series. This was a fun second chance romance, with plenty of swoon worthy moments.
Are we surprised? No matter how bad my reading slump is, Julia's book always a hit for me. I can't even write a proper review, I can only say "I LOVE SAL AND BEA❤️" Also, the chasing, yes, I love it when he falls first and hard and became stalkery (in a sweet nerdy way😘)
“I’ll give you what you need, beautiful. I have no choice.” 🥹
“I stop spinning when I'm with you. You become my focus. I can just... be. ” This was what peace felt like. Not silence or stillness or escape. Her. My beautiful blue.
“You’re mine.” “I am, Beatrice. I’m yours.” 🥹❤️
To Start off, Salvatore was my favorite hero from this series! Unfortunately for Bea, Shira still holds the top spot for favorite heroine of the series. Julia Wolf is one of my fave authors, and even when i'm in a book slump, which I was when I read this, her writing never fails to keep me engaged, idk what it is about it. So, When Salvatore and Bea were together /getting along, I loved them. I was afraid at first because of how I assumed Bea would balance working and a relationship. However to my surprise, this actually didn't turnout to be a big issue. One of my favorite parts of this book was how Bea wanted to protect Sal! I thought that was really Sweet. However, the reason that I can’t give this 5 stars is that, while I had periods where I really enjoyed Bea, she also had points where she really let me down. She would frustrate me when she would jump to conclusions. And when she told sal to leave her alone, he respected her wishes (even though it wasn't what he wanted), yet she was butthurt that he wasn't talking to her... I was very annoyed at that because she knew Sal was very literal. Also, her constanty repeating how she didn't want kids around, then continuing to put herself around kids, really ground (grinded?) my gears. Those were my ONLY issues though, I really enjoyed it when Bea was being a sweetie and loving Sal!I liked that they had an immediate connection and while she was hesitant, she wasn’t unbearably hesitant (not including during the third act breakup😮💨). I can’t wait for Ben’s book! I loved that he befriended Sal in this, it was sweet to see Sal making a friend who actually cared about him 🥹
Okay guys it’s finally here, Bea’s book!!!! To the Chase is the final book in the Mile High Billionaires series by Julia Wolf and we finally know who Bea’s mystery man is!! It took me so long to figure this one out, but it’s been eating at me for a VERY long time 😂 I’ve loved Bea since the first book she was mentioned in and her book was perfect!!! She’s always been a favorite side character of mine. I love her sassy comebacks, how mean she can be, how strong she is, and how giant her heart is. She’s truly perfect. I’m not the only person who thinks that either because our mystery man is none other than Salvatore Gallo! We met him in Sweet Like Poison when he was the adorable and shy friend of Elena! Sal has been hung up on our girl for years and we finally get so many questions answered. Based on the blurb we know that Bea and Sal have a brief past, but we don’t know more than that. Sal has a lot of secrets and I read this so fast because I needed to know every single thing lol I love him so much. I love how obsessed he is with every part of Bea. Sal is such a sweetie. Relationships are hard for him, he is autistic and rigid in his thinking which can be difficult for himself and everyone around him. I love how Bea softens for him and embraces all the things she didn’t know she wanted because of the walls she had up. Their connection is so sweet and deep. It gave me all the butterflies!! I love this series so much!!!
This was a good solid read. The MMC was a neurodivergent character that was really well written, and I really enjoyed him throughout the book even if there are some things that would be total red flags for me if he were a real person. I think through the lens of "this isnt real life" the fact that Sal is a liar is ok 😅...same thing applies with Bea. Its ok to deal with her in the book and letting her have her dramatic moments, but if she were a person in my real life, I would have distanced myself in a heartbeat from her drama.
Small honorable mention that if someone doesnt like kids, and is so hard up about not liking kids....Maybe they dont get involved with someone who is a guardian to multiple kids 🤷♀️
Outside of all of that, I liked the story, I loved that Sal is devoted to Bea and slightly obsessed...and I liked that the story flowed without plot holes...Solid read that I would recommend to my friends for a good beach read.
I absolutely hate that this is the last book in the Mile High Billionaire Series. That being said Bea has been one of my favorite characters from this series. I couldn’t wait for her story and I was not disappointed. I was addicted from the beginning. I love how the characters are true to life. Bea is so understanding impatient with Salvatore. She just gets him. The love between them. You can just feel it. Salvatore is on the spectrum (Nero-divergent) and written so amazingly. With honesty clarity and doesn’t shy away from the complexities of his character. The growth that both characters go through it is absolutely perfect. This book is well written, full of emotion and I was rooting for them from the beginning. There’s so much to overcome both for themselves, and each other. The only thing missing for me is just one more book in this series about ladies man Grandpa Tony.
5 FANTASTIC STARS This story made my heart soar, it made it ache a little and it made me feel like a giddy optimist. Bea and Salvatore are wonderful characters whose quirks make them so special and interesting. The secondary characters bring sunshine, warmth and all the characters bring big, lovely heart. This story is the swooniest romance that I’ve read in a while and it comes with the most delightful, unique spice. It’s tentative and then it’s powerful… It’s so unpredictable and playful at times. It’s an intelligent, funny and emotionally compelling story with characters I LOVE. This author always hits for me personally, this particular story is more than 5 stars, something about these characters and their story is so superb, it’s really special. Bea is a blue haired beauty with curves for days and a fun pin-up style that grabs attention, she’s strong and has a bit of an attitude with bite. I adore her! Salvatore is a handsome genius with a low key outward style and a reserved personality. He’s detail and goal oriented, he is a watcher, he notices a lot. I think he is an incredibly altruistic person who has an incredible capacity to give freely to the people who have made their way into his guarded heart. Both characters have trauma in their pasts, I think it keeps them from believing they can have certain experiences in life. It holds them back a bit when it comes to trust, relationships, romance and family. That is what makes the care and tenderness between Salvatore and Bea so special to me. I don’t want to tell you all the good parts, find your favorite parts, because there are many! This is a feel good, witty and romantic work of art! Two last things- I love the way Bea’s curvy, soft figure was not an issue for anyone, including her confidence. I love that Salvatore’s Autism wasn’t an issue for them either. Both things are a part of them, they are mentioned and portrayed in such a sensitive, realistic way. They are important to who the characters are, they aren’t “the story.” One of my favorite books of the year!
*I was given the opportunity to read an early copy of this book.*
I really enjoyed this book and reading about Sal and Bea. In all honesty, if he was a real life man he would be one big red flag and I’d be running away BUT he’s not so I think he’s great! Lemme say though, I loved Bea! She was totally herself the entire book.
I also have to say I loved the plot revolving around the security/tech company and I felt it added so much good to the story. The kids/found family aspect really just pulled it all together!
