The Missing Matchmaker

Rate this book
Truly mismatched...

Lucas Montieth, Earl of Kelsey, was simply being polite when he promised to take Lord Wrexton's sister into his household. Unfortunately, the lady in question is none other than the ton 's infamous matchmaker, "Aunt Clare,"—and when they last crossed paths, Lucas barely escaped with his bachelorhood. This time, after announcing that she has found Lucas' "true love," namely Miss Georgetta Thompson—Clare disappears without a trace. Before he knows it, Lucas has joined Georgetta herself in search of the mischievous old minx—only to discover his own unexpected desire.

...Or a match made in heaven?

Though in mourning for her father's death, Georgetta is feeling truly alive for the very first time. She couldn't be less interested in Aunt Clare's romantic scheming, for marriage would only hinder her quest for adventure...or would it? When Clare mysteriously vanishes, Georgie finds herself looking for clues, side by side with the handsome—albeit arrogant—Lucas Montieth. The whirlwind pursuit of Clare and her captors satisfies Georgie's thirst for thrills—but she soon realizes that only Lucas can answer the demands of her heart.

Before becoming a romance novelist, Cindy received a BFA in theater and pursued a career in real estate. She was both a broker and a general contractor and actually began writing to entertain herself while she sat open house as a realtor.

Although born in Wisconsin, Cindy moved to Florida with her family at a young age and has never left. Her home in Fort Walton, on the Emerald coast, provides Cindy with warm weather, beautiful beaches, and magnificent waters. She loves reading, pretending to cook (she says that she reads cookbooks far more often than she actually makes anything), and admiring old cars-especially Mustangs. Cindy is also a devoted dog person who maintains that dogs are actually women's best friend.

This was simply a fun book. The plot was farfetched to say the least, but it really didn’t matter. It was the utter impossibility of the plot that made everything so much fun. The characters were quirky and amusing adding to the fun feel of the book. This is a great easy read for the weekends.

What a mess! I really dislike these farcical, ridiculous Regencies that popped up now & again. This one is so silly that it's hard to know exactly what is going on. The characters are idiots & the events ludicrous. Aunt Clare can stay missing for all I care, & she can take Georgetta & Lucas with her. Ugh!

When I first picked up this book from the library, I expected a typical Zebra Regency Romance, with a little bit of mystery thrown in. What I got was a jumble of plots and way too many side characters to understand the story - I couldn't even finish the book! I tried to force myself through it, and ended up giving up (having given up trying to understand the convoluted assassination/abduction/matchmaking plot(s) long before that) about fifty pages from the end.

Add to that the fact that the heroine is.. well, not too great (incredibly naive, and determined to be a "wild woman" by saying "jumping Jehosephat," "Sweet Mary's night rail" and devoting her life to reading anything except the religious sermons her late father restricted her to), and the hero can't make up his mind as to whether he likes the heroine or is still in love with the chit who played him last Season, and I will NOT be picking this one back up ever again. Thank goodness I only got it from the library, and didn't waste money buying it.
