OH my.... What a Wild Wild ride... After finishing that prequel (to be read before this book) where we get Varrick's ugly past with Sienna, I wasn't sure what this book would make me feel, but if that prequel was great, then this book was a FREAKING BANGER... I'm definitely finishing my year on a sky high note because of this book and I'm oh so glad I found this book.😍😍😍
I can't even put into words, the raw intensity, the emotional roller-coaster and the passion that goes straight to the heart - kinda feelings this book made me feel, that Varrick and Rosalynn made me feel.🥵
This book makes you realize why we as readers love Dark Romances but especially why strong men who are morally Grey but the softest only for their women is the reason why our standards are high and we love them.
Varrick is the king of Vancouver, the most dangerous man. He's ruthless and has a reputation of being deadly because he's always a step ahead of you.
The only time someone was able to one up him and hurt him in the most horrible way was Sienna, the only woman who betrayed him yet they had a relationship that was beyond complicated.
When I read the prequel, I was rooting hard for Varrick and Sienna because they might be enemies but they both were wounded by the life in which they were born.
But the ending in that book left me beyond shocked.
So I definitely wasn't prepared for HOW MUCH MY HEART WOULD BE MELTED by the sheer depth and rawness of moments that we get right from the start with everything that happens between Rosalynn and Varrick.
That man was A FREAKING PERFECT ONE.
He's so dangerous and in an instant he will break you for even looking at him wrong but with Rosalynn.. Oh my freaking goodness... He's the most gentlest with her.
The way he controls himself with her, the way he supports her, makes her brave in her own skin, makes her stronger and teaches a broken girl how to stand for herself, HAD MY HEART.
He brings her to the brink of desire just with his behavior and teaches her that men can be good and gentle and sweet and teaches her to trust again, provides her safety and so much more.
He definitely builds the intensity to such levels and doesn't give in until he really drives Rosalynn mad with desire because when they do finally give in to their desire and needs, IT WAS A FREAKING WILDFIRE... SO HOT, SO SIZZLING AND PASSION ON HIGH. 🔥💥🔥♨️🌶️
I seriously couldn't have enough of each and every moment that we get, I was sighing so many times... Ahhh.... So many moments that will make you go weak in the knees.
We also have action-packed scenes because there are a lot of players who want to take the king's throne but also mistakes of the past who want to trap the king, but Varrick is deadly along with his brothers Korrin and Cyrus.
I freaking DEVOURED this book and I'm already planning a reread because this book made me feel OH SO MUCH... With so many Heart-racing moments that had me utterly in its spell and wanting for more.
This author duo has straight gone into my list of JUST READ THE BOOK, NO NEED FOR BLURB and my auto one click list because I'm a hard core fan now of them.
Ahhh... What a freaking wild ride... I'm so beyond excited for the next book in the series. Can't wait to see what the next Bane brother has in store for us. Abso-freaking-lutely loved loved loved this one. 5+ 🌟.

I am in love with this story! Rosalyn and Verrick were awesome. I loved how smart Rosalynn was. I was saddened by how she’d been treated and conditioned. And Verrick, although he was so ruthless and calculated, he was completely thrown off by Rosalynn. Together they confused one another, got close only to back away again. Normally things like this would drive me nuts, but in this case it worked perfectly.
Finally walls came down amongst all the chaos. The twists and craziness just keeps you turning the pages. Definitely one of my faves for the year.

A wonderful written story with two broken and scarred individuals and a twisty snd complex storyline that grabs the reader attention from the beginning and keeps you hooked and on the edge of your seat and keep you turning pages. An unputdownable and absorbing addictive read. Hang on to your seat and prepare yourself for this tantalizing mind-blowing rollercoaster ride filled with high-octane adventures, non-stop twists and turns, panty-melting passion, action, trauma, physical abuse, drama and betrayal.
This is Varrick and Rosalynn story which is told from a dual point of view. Captivating. Dangerous. Decadent. Compelling. Twisted. Sinful. "OMG! This story is wonderfully written with characters that are fierce, brave, resilience, protective, passionate and powerful." There are definitely intense, suspenseful, and downright violent moments but I love it all. Rosalynn as had a rough upbringing riddle with abuse, cruelty, trauma and pain. She's constantly abuse verbally and physically on a daily basis by her entire family. She was sold off to Varrick Bane who is the King of Vancouver criminal underworld as part of a six million debt that her family owes. Varrick is ruthless, vicious, dangerous, deadly and merciless. Although she was sold Rosalynn didn't mind because she saw it as a way of getting away from her horrible family and terrible home life. She doesn't see it being anymore worse than her current situation. Varrick is in need of a new accountant and given the fact that she's a genius when it comes to numbers he didn't mind the deal with the Lombardi family. Rosalynn is shy and withdrawn because of her trauma and abuse. Varrick vowed to take care of her and protect and never allow any harm to come to her even if it also means from her family. Rosalynn was given to Varrick as payment for what her father owed him. She is an accountant and can find money leaking from his business. At first, he thought she'd be like everyone else, but he soon finds that it isn't the case and quickly falls for her. But he's afraid that if he moves too fast, she'll think she's not good enough; since she's been conditioned her whole life that she's nothing but a bargaining chip for her family, and people can do whatever they want with her.
Rosalynn is sweet, innocent & kind. Some may see her as weak, but I think she's strong in her own way. I really like her; she didn't cause unnecessary drama or run away when danger was around because she thought she should be free to make her own choices.
Varrick, oh Varrick, I love how he truly cared for and devoted himself to Rosalynn. My heart absolutely shattered in pieces for him in the prequel to this book, and slowly, a few of them are starting to be put back together. The way he let her be herself but would injure or unalive anyone who hurt or spoke poorly of her made me fall for him even more!!
I love these two as a couple; at first, I was afraid things would move too fast from the last book, and I wouldn't be able to connect to them together (since reading the previous book), but that wasn't the case at all. I actually was on edge just waiting for them to finally do something. And I really liked the way that Sienna (from the previous book) talked about, and how Varrick & Roalynn sorted through any feelings they had towards that situation. I'm not usually one for previous loves, but this one worked well!!
Even though the MCs are finally together, there is still a threat they face. Varrick is still recovering from Sienna and her father's destruction and is facing other groups trying to take over. They've had to create alliances with questionable, possibly untrustworthy people (it's the criminal underworld). And Sienna being back and using their son to get back at Varrick is just the type of thing she would do.
Loved this book and can't wait for the next in the series!

I thought that Sienna was a good fit to Varrick but when I started reading this, I knew that I was so wrong. Rosalynn is the absolute perfect woman for Varrick.
Rosalynn was a payment to settle a family debt. She's really good with numbers so she became useful to Varrick. She didn't realize that soon she would start getting feelings for him. She wanted him to see how bad she wanted him. She wanted him to see that she was falling in love with him and didn't want to hurt him.
Varrick took Rosalynn as payment. He wasn't expecting to start getting feelings for her. The last woman in his life hurt him, they had a toxic relationship. He didn't think he was good enough for a girl like Rosalynn but he can't seem to stay away.
Soon, they are back and forth on their feelings. Rosalynn wants Varrick to show her his true self. She wants him to let her give in to him. Give him her all.
But when Varricks past comes back, not only is Rosalynn's life on the line but so is his son's. And he doesn't want to have to chose one or the other, but his ex won't let him have both. And Rosalynn would never make Varrick choose, even when she is in severe danger.

This book is best read after reading the Prequel, Schemes, which give the story of Sienna Cross and Varrick Bane...with Sienna being the weapon of rival, the Cross family, who also deal in the criminal underworld of Vancouver. Varrick is referred to as King of Vancouver since his is largest crime empire in city...and Sienna sent to kill him...but despite their falling for each other, and scarring each other, she left Varrick when pregnant by him...now four years later, finds Varrick with Lombardi family owing him money, and offer a niece who is numbers person as payment...He accepts, as when he sees Rosalynn, sees a victim of cruelty at the hands of her cousins and uncle and he needs a new accountant...but although shy and scared of her own shadow, Rosalynn is a phenomenal forensic accountant, finding ten million dollars missing initially when given his books...and then after looking at years of ledgers found evidence of embezzlement by former bookkeeper...and Rosalynn is slowly coming into her own, reluctantly curious about man who now "owns" her for next three years, becoming less of wallflower, more self-aware, finally believing she is more than a "payment"...but what of Sienna and his son and heir...you will need to read this twisting, turning roll-a-coaster to see what happens...I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

a great book
Having read most of Elizabeth Knox’s MC romance books I already knew I liked her writing style, but this joint endeavour is even better.
Rosalynn has a quiet, resilient naivety about her that is unbelievably endearing, but watching her confidence grow throughout the book was undoubtedly inspiring. As she got more comfortable with her safety, her obvious usefulness, and with the ever increasing connection with Varrick her fire and backbone definitely started to show more and more and yet she still managed to retain the softness and empathetic parts of her personality, which enables you to see who she is at her core.
Varrick is undeniably a protector at heart which might seem at odds with his more violent and aggressive responses, but the contrast between the more dominant, violent, and slightly deprived way he responded to threats (particularly against Rosalynn) and the more vulnerable, soft and caring/loving side he showed to Rosalynn (and Dante) just worked and worked well.
There was plenty of action, some OWD/OMD, a whole lot of self reflection and character development, and some lust and love along the way. I thoroughly enjoyed the book from start to finish (in fact I devoured it in just a couple of hours) and would absolutely recommend it to anyone who enjoys the slightly darker romances out there.

This is the first book in Broken Blood series and what an amazing way to start! There is a prequel titled Silent Schemes and I do recommend you read it first, it’s not essential but I feel to get a full understanding on the ‘Sienna and Varrick’ situation.
Varrick is the King of Vancouver, Mafia boss, faces danger everyday, has his two brothers with him but it’s very clear he calls all the shots so when one of his customers owes him six million dollars and can’t pay, they offer their niece/cousin Rosalynn in payment, she is a Virgin and an accountant.
When her cousin Marco brings Rosalynn to Varrick it’s clear from her posture, her bruises and scars that she has been abused.
Varrick has no idea just how much she had been through initially because, he quickly looked at her and put her to work on some financials and left her alone.
Rosalynn should be petrified of this giant of a man with his gruff voice but somehow she found herself enjoying anytime his eyes sought hers out.
The storyline was filled with torture, abuse, danger, drugs, manipulation, exploitation and success, trust, loyalty and respect but most of all love.

Varrick is the King of Vancouver, Mafia boss, faces danger everyday, has his two brothers with him but it’s very clear he calls all the shots so when one of his customers owes him six million dollars and can’t pay, they offer their niece/cousin Rosalynn in payment, she is a Virgin and an accountant.
When her cousin Marco brings Rosalynn to Varrick it’s clear from her posture, her bruises and scars that she has been abused.
Varrick has no idea just how much she had been through initially because, he quickly looked at her and put her to work on some financials and left her alone.
Rosalynn should be petrified of this giant of a man with his gruff voice but somehow she found herself enjoying anytime his eyes sought hers out.
The storyline was filled with torture, abuse, danger, drugs, manipulation, exploitation and success, trust, loyalty and respect but most of all love.
I absolutely loved this book, I can’t wait to read the next book.

I loved Varrick and Rosalynn!
This was very interesting Mafia read that I thoroughly enjoyed. The plot is great, it flows well and there is enough action and danger that kept me turning the pages wanting to find out what happens next. I liked Varrick. His deceivingly calm nature that hides a storm inside, his determination to better and crash his enemies and restore his inherited empire’s glory. He has scars from his past – an interesting and dangerous one (there is a prequel novella, Silent Schemes, that gives us a glimpse to it. It’s not a necessary read, but it provides a better perspective). Rosalynn’s path is even harder. Abused and used as a bargaining chip by her family, she is basically sold to Varrick. But he sees something in her, apart from her brilliant mind in numbers, that makes him drawn to her. It was delightful to see her flourish and rise from her ashes. By the end of the book there is a woman with a spine of steel and a loving heart despite her fears and traumas. I loved how they basically heal each other, how they face their enemies as a unit. A great 4-star read in my opinion.

This is the 1st book in the Broken Blood series featuring the deliciously dark and emotional mafia romance between Varrick and Rosalynn. This story grabs your attention from the very beginning and it keeps you turning the pages with all of the action, betrayal, danger, drama, steam and violence. Rosalynn is a timid woman she's nothing like Varrick the ruthless king of Vancouver who she was given to as payment by her own family to pay her father's debts. Varrick is the dangerous boss of a crime family and Rosalynn is really good with numbers so she works as an accountant which Varrick is in need of. When she's given to Varrick he sees the bruises on Rosalynn so when Rosalynn discovers a betrayal while working for Varrick she's nervous. Since Rosalynn is used to being abused she wonders if Varrick will hurt her now that she's discovered the betrayal. I don't want to say anymore and ruin it for anyone else with spoilers. You really need to read this deliciously dark and emotional mafia romance to see what happens. I would definitely recommend reading this book and I'm looking forward to the next book in this fantastic series.

This has been the most anticipated read to prequel - Silent Schemes. You need to start with the prequel to understand the foundation of who Varrick Bane is and what he is capable of.
As I have stated, the foundations for a storyline were set and we are further led into its construction.
This was such a powerful read. Not only do the characters become emotionally attached with the reader but they bleed for you too.
Rosalynn - the trade, a paid debt, a possession, acquired.
Varricks little mouse. His good girl, his reward. Mine.
There is more than one way to use an innocent besides losing their virginity. Physical abuse, torture, shame, a violation of the body but also keeping the halo intact. Fear, degradation, not a life to live by. This was Rosalynn.
Varrick - will blood win or will a choice need to be made for survival. But at whose bequest?
I have given more than enough food for thought here. No spoiling. This was powerful on words. Definitely an 18 + reader. Will have trigger points and Elizabeth has clearly stated this.

Her father owes Varrick six million dollars. To clear his debt he gave her to him. Rosalynn is sweet and innocent and really just a kind person. I really liked her and thought that she was in a horrible situation of never really being loved by a man who could just give his child away to a man to clear a debt and in this she is finding her strength. She has been a bargaining chip for so long for her family that Varrick is afraid of the attraction he is feeling for her. He does not want her to see him as the same kind of man. With him she is free to make her own decisions. Varrick is amazing. He wasn't at all what I was expecting and I love discovering all the things about him. He was so devoted and genuinely cared for Rosalynn. Your heart will break for him in the prequel of the book, but we get to see him build himself back from that. This book is not without dangers and twists and turns. I just don't want to say to much and give something away.

An excellent story with drama, action suspense, and steamy romance that has great characters throughout it’s also a page turner.
Two people are put together due to a debt payment. The two become closer throughout the story.
His ex comes back after being gone for a long time with their child and a husband. They try to use the child as a bargaining chip.
While he’s gone to tend to business his ex’s husband grabs her, using her to get at him but he and his brothers go to get her back even though she wants him to go get his child.
It takes her a while to heal and during this time his child shows up to give them a message from his ex. They keep the child and once she’s better they go tend to his ex and the husband. His brothers bring her into the family before they go to tend to the ex and the husband.
The child gets used to them and during this time gets a call from her family who abused her most of her life wanting money. The two go to meet them and she tends to business. The two get engaged and in no time they’re married.

I loved it! 😍
This is my first book by Elizabeth Knox and Haven Snow, and I really enjoyed their writing style.
Dirty Game is the first book in the series, featuring a mafia romance. The story had me hooked from the very beginning, even though I hadn’t read the prequel (Silent Schemes — Varrick & Sienna’s story, which is necessary to understand some parts). There were things I didn’t fully grasp at first, but as I kept reading, everything started to make sense, and I became completely engrossed.
I fell in love with Varrick — he’s such a quiet, dark character with a calm, steady nature.
Rosalynn is such a sweet and shy woman; I loved seeing her bloom with each chapter, showing both vulnerability and strength as she worked through her traumas.
I adored how the romance developed — it wasn’t rushed. Each page showed how they healed one another and faced their enemies together.
I don’t want to give too many spoilers, but if you’re looking for a mafia romance with a completely guaranteed happy ending and no cheating, this is your book.
I can’t wait to read the next book in the series, which is about one of Varrick’s brothers!.

A simply wonderful read, great characters and wonderful storyline that had me fully engaged
I thoroughly enjoyed the prequel of this book Silent Schemes, then I continued and read the book next in line and I have to say that I also enjoyed this book as well and Varrick Bain who is the King of Vancouver is a real hard headed and tough character that will not take any nonsense from anyone.
Rosalynn is a meek and quiet character that is not meant for this kind of world and yet she is extremely smart with numbers and who becomes payment to Varrick, I liked the way in which he seemed to allow her to show her own self worth and grew boulder and not so quiet and I think that this has been good for her, the confidence has a needed boost to her.
I am sure that other readers will also enjoy some of the more intense moments in the book and the twists and turns of this great read and I am looking forward to the next book in this read.

I have to say I didn’t know how this book would be without Varrick and Sienna after the end of the prequel but I am throughly delighted with Varrick and Rosalynn.
Rosalynn was traded to Varrick for her uncle’s debt of six million dollars. She has been abused by her brother Marco and made to feel very inadequate. Rosalynn has a steel trap when it comes to numbers. Varrick finds out that he has a son with Sienna. Varrick is normally not a gentle man but after watching Rosalynn he becomes slightly more gentle. Rosalynn finds missing money. As she gets more comfortable with Varrick they grow closer. Will Sienna come back into the picture with her son Dante? Will Varrick be able to save Rosalynn after she is kidnapped. Will Rosalynn realize that she does matter to Varrick? Will Varrick take his son to make a family of three?

Holy smokes! This collaboration is a masterpiece: darkly addictive, beautifully crafted, and devastatingly heartbreaking! The prequel is a must to fully appreciate Varrick’s evolution and his motivation! Rosalynn is quiet with a stillness that is soothing, but her backstory made me cry! I love their journey: it’s emotional, it’s healing, and it’s a blueprint of true love! There’s tremendous sadness, absolute joy, and a visceral sense of peace when they commit to each other!
Their future is hard won with too much suffering and a past that tries to ruin their lives. Choices, decisions, and actions that create challenges and chaos. Rosalynn grows so much with Varrick’s steadfast support. I loved the trust that developed, how they protected their family, and their chemistry was exquisite! A truly cathartic experience!! This is a riveting start to this series. The characters are both broken, her by family and him by life, but together they rebuild each other and come out stronger then ever. Rosalynn was traded for a gambling debt,her family was hoping she would be hurt as thats the only way her family ever showed her emotions. Carrick looks at his payment and knows she is different from all other people he has around him. The fact that she is a wiz with numbers and is soon proving her worth is amazing to him. When their feelings start to change and get deeper, thats when Varricks past comes back to bite him is the butt, and then said past threatens Rosalynn then he and his brothers will go to war to protect her and his son. They all come together to take out the trash and are soon admitting feelings for each other and building a future that while not exactly picture perfect to the outside world, but is perfect for them.

After having read the prequel Silent Schemes novella I couldn't wait to get my hands on this book and it did not disappoint. I devoured the pages. It's deliciously dark and full of action, suspense, and steam.
I was hanging on the edge of my seat, captivated by this dark mafia world and its characters.
This plot had me gasping, swooning, melting, heartaching and I couldn't get enough.
I loved how Varrick and Rosalynn's relationship developed. I couldn't help but root for them from the start. They are not perfect but they grew stronger together.

This is a dark twisted mafia story.Roslyn has gone through physical and mental abuse her whole life first her father abused her telling her she's only good as payment for debts the men will use her til they tire of her and she will be sent back to be used again then he died and the abuse continued by her brother and uncle her brother when he was drunk would hit her and burn her with his cigarette trying to break her but she won't let them break her.Then she is given to Verrick the mafia king for a debt of six million dollars. After years of abuse will Verrick be able to show Rose Lynn she is worth more than money she should be cherished and he plans to show her how much she is worth but not until she realizes she is his not because she was given as a payment but because he wants her to be his but only by choice.There are so many twists and turns to this story you will be riveted til the very last page.I can hardly wait to see what's next by these multi talented authors.Riveting!
