In an age where nothing permanent happens to our cinematic heroes/main characters, this ending truly shocked my kids! Ha, ha.

I like this rendition! The book is large, the illustrations are very charming, and the Gingerbread Man doesn’t come across as annoying like in some versions.

We’ve read this multiple times; my daughter can tell the story now, which is pretty cute!

And it’s hard to read this tale and *not* make gingerbread men so…

Here’s a fun little reel to watch!

Content Considerations: nothing to note.

**Like my reviews? Then you should follow me! Because I have hundreds more just like this one. With each review, I provide Content Considerations, mentioning any objectionable content I come across so that parents and/or conscientious readers (like me) can determine beforehand whether they want to read a book or not. Content surprises are super annoying, especially when you’re 100+ pages in, so here’s my attempt to help you avoid that!

If you’re considering a book or looking for a new title to read, check out my highly categorized shelves, read my reviews and Friend or Follow me to spiff up your feed with clean, wholesome, living books.

I have an Instagram account that’s pretty bookishly unique too!

Genre: Traditional Literature
Grades: Pre K-2

I picked this book up in my second grade classroom at Concord East Side Elementary. I needed more Traditional Literature books, and I found this one. I didn't know that the gingerbread man ran away from the old couple (which I should have), but it was good story nonetheless.

Danny loved all versions of this story, even before he was introduced to about 10 more in kindergarten. We have a couple of different versions in our house.
