Facing the loss of everything, she finds herself needing the help of an old enemy, the man whose interference years earlier led to her unhappy marriage, the new Earl of Chilcombe.

Extremely well written, full of drama, love, surprises, family, secrets, friends, society, action, twists and intrigue. Countess Blythe is now a widow who has been hiding many secrets that she protects. She hopes when the new Earl shows up that her plans will still be able to do as she wishes. Graeme is the Earl now and remembers how he felt years ago about Blythe, hoping that he can maybe help her to see how he really feels. Blythe hates to move about in society as they all formed their opinions about her. The few who stayed true to her really knows what happened and support her. When he arrives, the rumors are flying about and he hears other strange things. Together they solve the mystery of who or what really killed her husband, the missing new will and the children she is protecting. Such a great storyline and the characters are all exceptional. Will keep you turning the pages and leaves you wanting more. Would strongly recommend to everyone.

Over a decade ago, Blythe was caught in a compromising position with Archibald Blatchfield, who would become the Earl of Chilcombe, and they were forced to marry. At the time she was thrilled and in love. Then she found out what a depraved and revolting man he was. Graeme, Archibald’s young cousin at the time, had been infatuated with Blythe and tried to put her out of his heart and mind while he served the Crown. Eventually they were estranged and Blythe began living at Bluebelle Lodge, one of the Earl’s properties that, according to the marriage agreement, was to become hers upon the his death. However, just before he died, she received a summons and was told that he had changed his will leaving her only one pound. The lodge was being left to the Marquess of Diddenton who had bought the neighboring property and was disputing the lodge’s ownership. Blythe knew she needed to get her hands on the new will and destroy it. After Archibald’s death, Graeme was summoned from his diplomatic mission to assume the earldom. What follows is an intense story filled with desperation and horrid revelations as Blythe and Graeme fight to thwart Lord Diddenton. For Graeme it is a second chance to be with the woman he loves. For Blythe it is a chance to heal from her past, learn to trust again, and have a whole and happy life. There is a lot going on in this story. Depravity is revealed in flashback memories, illegitimate children are discovered, the law is bent, false rumors are believed, judgments are made, allies rally, and villains are defeated.

Blythe Blatchfield, widowed Countess of Chilcombe has vowed to never give her trust to a man again. Her late husband showed his true colors after they were married and she will not make that mistake again.

Graeme Blatchfield, new Earl of Chilcombe has just returned to England after inheriting a title he never thought he would. He must navigate all the rumors to determine what is really true.

Blythe has many secrets that she doesn’t want to share and is determined that she will keep what is hers. Graeme knows that there was more to Blythe’s marriage to his cousin than she is telling him. He also knows that he will need to prove to Blythe that she can depend on him and allow him to help her with the situation. Will Blythe finally decide that she can trust Graeme so they can find a solution to their problem?

This book was beautifully written by Alina K. Field and you could feel all the emotions that the characters were going through. While at times the book was truly emotional it did lead to a happy ending. I felt the author did a great job with the characters and you could feel what they were going through while reading the book. I really liked how Blythe didn’t immediately start trusting Graeme and how Graeme didn’t immediately believe everything that was being said. The book was not rushed and the love between Blythe and Graeme developed over the course of the book. I enjoyed reading this book and highly recommend it!!

At her husband’s death, a will disinheriting Countess Blythe Blatchfield surfaces then disappears. She vows to hold her head up high amid the swirling rumors and fighting for what she’s entitled to. She also rebuffs advances from handsome rogues like her deceased husband. Never again. But her world shifts when the new earl, Graeme Blatchfield appears. No matter how handsome and charismatic he appears, she’ll never let her guard down again. But partnering up to put the estate to rest is exactly what she’ll do, especially under the watchful gaze of the ton. Love sneaks into Blythe’s heart, no matter how hard she tries to stop it. Can she forgive Graeme for the past, or will she be all alone and destitute?

Her Impeccable Scoundrel is an intoxicating Regency romance I couldn’t put down. Alina K. Field has penned a historical romance with backstabbing, scandal, intrigue, societal rules, and unexpected romance. The setting is lush with details while also being historical accurate. The narration will sweep you into the story. But it’s the characters that make Her Impeccable Scoundrel a truly unforgettable read. I connected with Blythe in so many ways. Alina K. Field’s flawless writing makes this one of my favorite Regency romances in several years.

Fans of Ellie St. Clair and Tessa Dare will thoroughly enjoy Her Impeccable Scoundrel.

The touching story of Blythe Blatchfield, the widowed Countess of Chilcombe and Graeme Blatchfield, the new Earl of Chilcombe’s cautious dance of each finding their place in the new circumstances in which they find themselves.
The old Earl had died of addiction to opium and disease from his debauched life. Unfortunately, before his death, he had been pressured to make a new will that stripped his wife of all but one pound, including her promised dower house. After the old Earl dies, the new will disappears and the conspirators that caused it to be written, make it widely known that the will exists and is now missing. Thus, not only are Graeme and Blythe anxious to find it, as are both the authorities and those who will benefit from the new will.
This story has many layers to it: a missing will; villainous characters trying to dispossess a widow; a new Earl who has trouble sifting fact from rumors circulating about the Countess; and a Countess who has taken her husband’s ‘natural childre’ under her wing to raise, despite the gossip that such actions inspire. There are no steamy scenes of unwed people, and only a ‘closed door’ wedding night.
I found myself engaged early in the story, and read the book through in one day to see how the plot was developed. This is another outstanding book from this talented author.

Uncovering Secrets . . .

Lady Blythe Blatchfield, the widowed Countess of Chilcombe, has to figure out how to repair her tainted reputation sullied by her rogue husband's blatantly inappropriate behavior and not her own, but it has still damaged her reputation and put her at a disadvantage. She is trying to prevent a powerful marquess from challenging her husband’s Will which would cheat her of the inheritance she is due and make her lose everything. She accepts help from her deceased husband's cousin, the new Earl of Chilcombe Graeme Blatchfield, who has just returned to England (and who had gotten her into this marriage mess with his cousin to begin with). Will he agree to honestly help her? Will he see that she is not the woman the rumors accuse her of being? They will also need to find out the circumstances surrounding a supposed new Will that disappeared. Can they discover the true murderer of her husband? And will Graeme finally express his own feelings for Blythe?

Lady Blythe Blatchfield endured a humiliating and abusive marriage. She is now a widow with a problem. It seems her husband left her nothing including the property that was supposed to be hers. He did leave her one pound. Because of his vile reputation, Blythe is virtually cast out of local society. The earl’s cousin, the new Earl of Chilcombe, is Graeme Blatchfield. He had a crush on when they were younger. Blythe hopes the new earl will honor her wedding contract and she can continue her plans for her wards (who are one of the secrets she keeps) and the property that should belong to her. Graeme still has some feelings for Blythe, and when he learns how horrible her marriage was, he hopes to be able to help her heal, and perhaps start a new life with him. This story is full of intrigue, plots and schemes, secrets, and lies, but there is also hope, forgiveness, and second chances. Blythe, Graeme, and a group of allies work to find the truth of her husbands death and the odd new (and disappearing) will. The longing is there and the chemistry between Graeme and Blythe is strong, but he must build the trust that she lost in her first marriage.

This story had an original plot which is always a good thing. The characters were well developed. While it was a romance, there were so many other issues discussed. The story contained political issues, drug abuse and addiction, debauchery of innocents, prostitution, and illegitimate children. While there were dark issues the book also contained moments of humor, mostly from the side characters. After much investigation and twists and turns, the main couple were able to find their HEA. This story was about a widowed heroine who had been hurt and didn’t trust most men and the hero that stumbled upon her scandal as a young woman and set in motion what ended up being the worst decision of her life. I enjoyed this story with its original plot, interesting and caring characters, young wards, new friends, an age difference, a bit of light steam, and a HEA.

This is the story of the widowed Countess of Chilcombe Blythe Blatchfield and the new Earl of Chilcombe Graeme finding themselves in new circumstances after her widowship.
The old Earl had died of addiction to opium and disease from his debauched life. Unfortunately, before his death, he had been pressured to make a new will that stripped his wife of all but one pound, including her promised abode. When the old Earl dies, his new suspicious will disappears and the conspirators insist that it is to be found. Graeme and Blythe are determined to find it, as are both the authorities and those who will benefit from the new will.
This missing will, villains who are trying to dispossess the widow, a new Earl who faces many troubles keep the reader turning the pages. It is a satisfying journey to a HEA. Another gem from Alina!

A very interesting and different story of an emotionally and physically abused woman who fights back. Blythe will do anything short of murder to protect her own, whether she birthed them or not. Graeme is the new Earl after her husband dies, but has loved Blythe since he was young. Her fear of trusting anyone is understandable, especially the horrific night she faced. Graeme’s patience is a defining character that I adored, especially when dealing with the likes of Mrs. Jarrow! The characters are believable and ‘real’, each with their good and bad points, the storyline flowed vey well and no crass language(thank you author!) Wonderful story!.

This new installment in the Wicked Widows series by Alina K. Field is another delightful entry that showcases everything the author does so well. The story is carefully crafted, with a plot that moves smoothly and characters who feel vivid and well-developed. Their personal growth is handled with nuance, and the dynamics between them are engaging from start to finish.

It’s a wonderfully enjoyable read—light, immersive, and perfect for slipping back into the elegance and intrigue of the Regency era. If you’ve enjoyed the previous books in the series, this one absolutely delivers the same level of charm and quality.

I loved this story! ❤️📚 I did not want to stop reading. I admit I prefer stories with more mature characters, so this was perfect. The anxiety Blythe suffered over her tenuous situation was palpable, yet she masks it well. I was relieved she asked and allowed others to help, not running off on her own. (There could have been one or two of those eye-roll worthy scenes, wherein the heroine does something stupid and gets kidnapped or worse.).
I liked how Graeme questioned the rumors, patiently waiting to come to his own conclusions.

This book appears to revolve around trust - broken or renewed. The FMC is now a widow who survived a horrendous marriage. Now she wants only to be left alone and help the helpless. The MMC is the new Earl who several years ago witnessed his cousin and the heroine which resulted in their marriage. He now wants to help her to find the real will. The storyline was intriguing and I liked that the hero was a little younger than the heroine - nice change from the usual romance.

Blythe has a very painful story. She shows such strength in this story. She and Graeme have a very unusual history. It is amazing that they are able to work together to unravel their issues. The story is strong in its telling pulling upon the emotions that drive the characters. It is powerful and very touching.

Blythe and Graeme have so much to overcome before they can realize fully who they are in the here and now and what they can be for each other. There is plenty of intrigue, thoughtful historical notes, and a wonderful cast of secondary characters.
