Van Jensen is the acclaimed author of the award-winning GODFALL trilogy (Grand Central). The sci-fi/thriller genre mashup series is in development for TV with Academy Award winner Ron Howard attached to direct and Jensen serving as executive producer.
Jensen was born and raised in the farm country of Western Nebraska where he wrote and drew stories as soon as he could hold a pencil. He became a newspaper crime reporter, then a magazine editor, and eventually an author of comic books and graphic novels. He has written some of the world’s biggest characters, including James Bond, Godzilla, and The Flash, Superman, Wonder Woman, and Green Lantern for DC Comics. His original graphic novels include ARCA (IDW), Two Dead (Simon & Schuster/Gallery 13), Two Dead (Dark Horse), and Pinocchio, Vampire Slayer (Top Shelf/IDW).
I love a good heist film or novel. Also, whether I like to make this public or not, I love the old cheesy Godzilla films. What could be better than putting those together? The end result…total carnage!
First, the story. This is a brilliant plot. And what caught me off guard was all the great wrinkles and twists that were thrown into this graphic novel. Also, you add in a wicked sense of humor and a Godzilla stomping on people, buildings, and cars…what’s not to love?
The art is so good on this one. You could spend hours just soaking in each panel. Great job by the writers and artists on this one.
Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for providing an ARC for an unbiased review.
I received this title as a digital ARC. There was a watermark over the pictures on each page, so I can't really rate the quality of the illustrations that will be on the final work. I liked the concept and the sounds that Godzilla made while fighting. This title will be enjoyed by fans of Godzilla, heist stories and twisty double-crosses.
The interior art is arguably better than the cover art but I have beef with the notion that the thief using Godzilla as a distraction thinks only his drones are getting sacrificed and not innocent members of the public.
