Falling for a Killer

Rate this book
I need to get away.
I’m fortunate enough that it’s possible to leave and start over in a place no one will find me, but the fact that a man is driving me to do it has me considering murder for the first time in my life. But he’s ruined enough, and I won’t lose my freedom for him.
Without looking back, I disappear off the map to my family’s cabin — a safe house we’ve ensured no one but us knows exists.
Or so we thought.
Immediately I know I’m not alone, and the man I find squatting in my family’s cabin may be even more dangerous than my pathetic ex-fiancé.
One way or another, life as I knew it is over, and maybe that's a good thing.
It's not like things can get worse.

I didn't think I would like it as much as I did, and man, was I surprised! The plot drew me in. Joey, FMC, finds herself with a crazy fiancée that she leaves and runs to a family cabin to lay low. When she enters, she realizes somebody has been living there.. Her mind is racing, thinking it can't be her ex-fiancée because he doesn't know about this family cabin and come to find out it's a man in hiding. A really hot, tatted up man with a special gift or disorder as they call it. The 🔥 scenes were 🥵 Who cares if he goes by Killer, right? I blew through this like I was watching a movie and it did not disappoint 👏🏻

She referenced LOCK&KEY!! 🔐
I've made no secret of the fact that Lock&Key by this author was one of my favorite romance reads. Sitting here, this moment, I fully believe that this book has surpassed it. What does that say about me that I crave the criminal bad boy that you just can't help falling for?

Killian...... just breathing the name invokes all sorts of dirty thoughts. ( How did the author know I'm an OUAT fan and Killian is my favorite character) He is everything a dream boat killer should be and then some. Definitely book boyfriend material.

The author threw in the whole d*MN kitchen sink of romance tropes, and I'm completely here for it. Fake dating, close proximity, bad boy, he falls first..... mixed in with a heavy dose of political unjust. I loved it.

Oh my gods the way I needed this book!

If you want a Luigi vigilante style romance, THIS IS IT! I laughed, I cried, I shook my fist at the world, and I definitely got a little heated up *wink wink*.

The banter was so great. The spice was so hot. The themes are so relevant. I just honestly loved it so much. Killian is so freaking sweet. He may be the killer, but he is definitely the golden retriever to Joey’s black cat.

Octavia has done it again 🤩. This was genuinely such a fun read and Octavia is SO good at writing banter, I found myself snorting and giggling fr when I was reading this book.

Joey (FMC) finds herself in a sticky situation and does her best to get away from it just to find herself in an even stickier situation when enter stage left Killian (MMC) joins the party. Now, Killian is one of my favourite names for a MMC so I had all the grabby hands when he makes his first appearance.

I'm one of those readers where I personally love when the FMC takes a sharp left in life and isn't screaming crying and throwing up at a situation that calls for it and instead just rolls with it. I KNOW it's not realistic but I'm not reading for realism and Octavia delivers on this every single time.

The forced proximity and threats did wonders for these two lmao and they ended up being really good together. They hit some bumps but never faltered and I was here for it 🤩

Scale:

Falling for a Killer was such a fun and spicy read! I loved it! This author is always a one-click for me and I devoured this dark and spicy romantic comedy!

At the start of the book, Joey is trying to escape to her family’s remote cabin. She tried to go through all the proper channels, but she doesn’t feel safe or sufficiently protected after her ex-fiance went after her. When she arrived, she discovered that someone else was already squatting there. Killian is also hiding out at Joey’s family cabin. He is a hot vigilante, who took out a Senator whose favors constantly kept him above the law. He may have been inspired by someone named Luigi.

Even though Killian un-alived someone, he is honestly the sweetest golden retriever. He falls fast and hard for Joey, who is a bit more prickly at first. Joey and Killian’s love language was snarky banter. The banter had me laughing non stop!

Killian also has hyperspermia, which opened up a lot of creative and unexpected possibilities. I feel like I should make a “wide load” joke here, but you guys get it (just like Joey’s hamper did). He was also really into the way Joey smelled and was a bit of a panty thief.

Falling for a Killer was such a fun reading experience and I can’t wait to see what this author writes next!

I absolutely loved this book! This book reminded me so much of current events in regards to the certain murd3r of a high profile person.

Anyways, I digress.

When Joey wants an escape from a horrible situation with her ex-boyfriend, she goes to her family's remote home in search of silence and solitude, but what she gets is a man with a gun staying in her home.

What she doesn't expect is to form an unlikely friendship turned relationship with this man. These two have some really HOT HOT times throughout this book! And while their relationship is tested, these two stay strong throughout the book and I really loved that.

I highly recommend this book for a quick, spicy, read that is totally relatable to events happening in current main stream media.

Luigi - I mean, Killian, has an adorable golden retriever personality. And Joey reminds me so much of myself - prickly, but secretly a big baby. I like these characters, but this book has a major pacing issue. Nothing much happens for the first half. And I like spice as much as the next girl, but I prefer for there to be more plot than spice, and it was a bit excessive here.

Octavia Jensen never fails! I'm always hooked in her stories and this one is no different!

Killian is a man on the run, a vigilante if you will, and Joey is running from her abusive ex.

This book is full of fun banter, sexy scenes, and some tense scenes that keep you flipping the pages to find out what happens!

🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️!

Wow. Just wow. I've read quite a few books by Octavia but this may be my favourite so far. This story was honestly incredible, i was immediately invested. Killian and Joey had the best meet cute i've ever read. They were so funny from their first interaction the jokes, the banter, the chemistry, it never stopped. I loved them both so much, Joey was honestly so funny. I loved her so much, and killer, aka Killian, was absolute perfection. This book DID make me bawl my eyes out like a baby, but that's not new.

This was a fun stalker romance. I genuinely enjoyed the MMCs story and why he does what he does. The blur of right and wrong was done so well. I feel like a lot of the topics were very current to today’s world. Also the way the FMC views things seems very ✨woman of today✨ and I AM HERE FOR IT. I had a great time reading this.

Joey is running away from her crazy ex fiance. She seek solace in her families cabin. Upon her arrival she discovers that she is not alone. There is a squatter in her cabin. A hot and dangerous squatter. But you know what? Things couldn’t get worse than what she left behind so, F it.
