“What makes you think I would marry for alliance?” – Helena.

Prince Alaric, haunted by his father’s prophecy that he will bring the kingdom's downfall, fights to prove everyone wrong. Surrounded by those who wish for his failure, he can no longer deny his desire for Helena. He needs her.

“If I were to marry for the sake of Drasin Kingdom, I’d choose Lady Helena, and if I were to marry for love, I still choose Lady Helena.” – Prince Alaric.

With magic and betrayal threatening the realm, they must find a cure for their people and summon a dragon to save the kingdom. But will they defy the odds, or will Alaric’s father’s nightmare come true?

Wow!

I didnt know the author is a Muslim. I thought shes chinese.

Allah.

Such a good story. Although not my favourite genre because I loves to read medieval story about fae with highlander but this one such a good read.

Prince Alaric, reading about him makes me smile. I cant help but smile giddy.

The scene where Alaric marked Helena reminds me a story of kdrama Goblin where the mother asks help to save her daughter.

Okay hello?? first of all, Bella Chu is a TESL graduate from Malaysia?

If I read this book without knowing the author, I wouldn't suspect that it's locally written!

2 words: Humorous & Action-packed

The dragons and the prophecies and the fae magic? We love that so much

The way Alaric and Ana tarik tali at first when they were on their first phase of marriage tu ye...like hellooo obviously Alaric loves you Helena don't be blind duhh and also, alaric dekat human world, too funny 😂😂😂

And Helena girl, suka sangat ek overthinking (just like me lol) geram. and Alaric...the man that you are, so protective and so dreamy~~

The plot twist also, I didn't expect at all! and it was so fastt hujung2 cerita tu I was like slow down girl nanti dah habis you'll end up termenung je teringat buku ni ahaha

Anyways, korang, PERFECT book untuk first
time nak try romance fantasy, specifically fae world♥️

When I first saw the blurb and the cover of this book, I knew that I'm gonna like it! IT'S A FANTASY ROMANCE book you know, my fav genre! And the yesss, I love this book! ❤️

This book literally have all the elements that I've been wanting for: marriage of convenience, dragons, mystical creatures, magic portal, and the tropes is actually ENEMIES TO LOVER + he fell first & harder?!?! I'M SOLD ALREADY 🤚🫶

I love everything about this book—from the stunning cover to the captivating storyline, well-crafted characters, and beautifully described world-building. When I read this book, sometimes I just feel like I was transported in the book itself. 😍

Next, when I read fantasy books, I often struggle to remember many character names at once. However, in Drasin Kingdom, I love how the author introduces the characters gradually in each chapter. It makes it much easier to remember them, rather than overwhelming the reader with too many names at once.

The ml itself which is Prince Alaric, he was literally HUSBAND MATERIAL! The way he always protect Helena, and willing to do anything for her, ARGGH IT'S AN ENDGAME! He's also actually very clingy and easily jealous whenever Helena being with her male friends. That was so funny! And the scene where Prince Alaric learn how to adapt in the human world is also funny. 🙈

However, since I heard that the trope in this book was enemy to lover, I do expect more tension between them at first. And the battle/fight scene, I just think that it lack of intense. It's just quite short so It'll be better if the scene was longer and more intense.
.
But overall, I LOVE THIS BOOK! The fact that this kind of book is written by a local author is totally amazing! To the author, congrats for your debut novel! It's such an amazing piece. 😍🫶
.
If you love gripping adventures, intriguing characters, and a story that keeps you on the edge of your seat, Drasin Kingdom is the perfect read for you!

Alaric and Helena are just too adorable! 🤍

Alaric, the Crown Prince of the Darsin Kingdom, is a fae who can’t lie. His father, King Victor, has abandoned him emotionally, leaving Alaric to be raised with the kindness of the kingdom’s General and his son, Lucian—Alaric’s best man. The people of Darsin expect Alaric to summon a dragon and save the kingdom from a deadly outbreak.

Helena, the General’s daughter, has the ability to travel between two worlds: the fae world and the human world. Her passion lies in literature, so she chooses to pursue her studies in the human world, focusing on Literature. Alaric marries Helena after discovering her forbidden ability, agreeing to keep her secret if she helps him find a cure in the human world.

🐉 I didn’t expect to love this book as much as I did! The blend of romance, adventure, and fantasy—with majestic dragons and clashes between worlds—kept me hooked from start to finish.

🐉 I love how each chapter’s opening sentence draws me in, and Alaric and Helena’s interactions are so cute! Their love confession scene gave me butterflies—Alaric is such a bae!

🐉 Alaric is easy to love: a determined prince carrying the weight of saving his people while trying to become a great king. Helena is equally captivating—sharp-witted, brave, and resilient. As the General’s daughter, she’s both intelligent and strong, making her the perfect match for Alaric.

🐉 The supporting cast—Lucian, Jess, Thalia, Ethan, Griffin, and Alaric’s grandparents—add depth and warmth, with their loyalty and camaraderie strengthening the couple’s journey. And, of course, the dragons are unforgettable—especially Ghazi, Helena’s dragon. His sharp humor and playful teasing about Helena and Alaric’s relationship never fail to make me smile.

🐉 Bella Chu’s writing style is truly enchanting. Her vivid descriptions bring the world of dragons and kingdoms to life, making the story feel magical.

🐉 Beyond romance and adventure, the book also delves into more profound themes—like the pain caused by past mistakes and the complicated relationship between a child and a distant father. These emotional layers make the story even more impactful.

🐉 Overall, this book is a captivating blend of romance, fantasy, and adventure with lovely characters. I haven't read much fantasy, but this book is at the top of my recommended list 🫰🏻

Many thanks to ManesWordworks for sending me a copy in exchange for an honest review ✨

i am not a native nor a fluent English speaker. but i have read quite a lot of English novels. so this is one of the local authors that use a good selection of words and sentences, and a good description of events. thank you

the ending i think is a bit rushed and there is one point where i don't understand what has happened. but so far, i like it. good job.

The worldbuilding was one of my favorite aspects💯 fae, dragons, and magic all woven together into a rich, captivating setting. I also loved how the journey to find the cure unraveled more about the world’s society, making it feel alive and immersive.

Alaric in the human world? Absolutely adorableee😂 Helena? Strong willed, funny and an easy character to root for🤩 Their dynamic was pure gold: witty, playful, and full of hilarious banter. And let’s be honest, who doesn’t love a protective love interest who would do anything for the woman he loves? Their chemistry was fun but I’ll admit, some parts of the writing felt a little awkward or cringy, which pulled me out of the story a few times *the amount of time I rolled my eyes📈📈📈* and sometimes their conversation are just unbearable🫠 (maybe it’s because I’m not that into romance??😂 If anyone else has read it, please lmk was it just me or did you feel the same??🤧

One thing I really wanted more of? The dragons! Their bond with their wielders and master was such a cool concept and I wish we had gotten to see more of those interactions. It would’ve added an extra layer of depth to the story.

Plot wise, I had mixed feelings. The premise was strong and I was hooked from the start but as the story went on, it started to feel a bit underdeveloped. The execution didn’t always live up to the potential and certain parts especially the ending felt rushed and vague. It’s a bit underwhelming.

That said, I still enjoyed the adventure and for a debut, this was a solid effort. Congrats to Bella Chu🥳 I’m definitely curious to see what she writes next🤩💯

I give this book 2.5 ⭐️ It’s not that I disliked it, but I just didn’t feel really excited while reading. (the things I disliked are most likely due to my personal preferences 😊)

Spoilers ‼️

First of all, based on the synopsis, it wasn’t described as slow burn or anything, but I was kind of hoping they would realize their feelings gradually during the journey and get married at the end. Now that would have been a happy ever after. But the moment they got married in the earlier chapters, I already lost interest, to be honest. And I wouldn’t call their moments together flirting or playful but more like annoying 😭 (maybe I’m just an anti romantic. this one is on me, not the author 🙏🏻)

Next, the sense of urgency just wasn’t there because the characters were too powerful and had too many advantages. Since they could heal themselves, read each other’s minds, and somehow always succeed, there was no real sense of struggle or unpredictability. Even when they faced obstacles, they overcame them so easily that there was no tension or excitement (at least for me)

It’s not necessarily a bad thing, but it can make the story feel flat when there’s no real suspense. I wanted to feel the tension, but instead, it just felt like a smooth ride with no real challenges. That’s probably why I didn’t feel excited. And honestly I would have preferred to read more about Helena as the Lady Antidote instead 😭🫶🏻

Lurve! I love everything about this book! Have you ever read a book that is so interesting and fun that you want to keep reading, but at the same time you don't want it to end too fast? This is the book for me. Let's talk about it one at a time...

First, the plot. Nine out of ten! I believe everything is perfectly in order and the flow is really nice. Oh, and I love their family bond so much between Agana, Helena, Lucian and also Alaric. Plus, the bonds between the three brothers. And the plot twist! Who would have known that 'brother' has been the Dragon Master all along?! However, I would love if there's more scene between the princes. But, I'm happy regardless.

Second, the genre. Yep, I agree this is definitely a romantasy book. The romance between Helena and Alaric is what I wish for my future HAHAH. Anyway, their love for each other is so cute (!) and sweet at the same time. Such a perfect couple. Oh and since it's a fantasy novel, some might think it will be a heavy read. But no worries, it's not. It's very easy to understand and if you are thinking of trying reading a fantasy book, you can give this book a try. Next, I love for the fact that the heroine is strong! But when the two mains are together, they are balance. Lurve! And don't forget the dragons!

Third, and maybe the last, is the writing style. Chef kiss! For those yg nak try reading English book, you can save this book in your list. It's very easy to understand and every time I'm reading this book, I feel like I'm there, in the book with them.

So sorry since this is a bit long... I'll post together the notes (thoughts) I wrote. Thank you dear author! Can't wait for your next book!

I must say, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, especially since it’s my first romance fantasy novel by a Malay author. I was so excited to finally own a copy and dive into it! I didn’t have specific expectations going in, but after reading a fair number of romance fantasy novels, I can spot some familiar themes or plotlines. Honestly, this book does feel inspired by some popular titles in the genre. That’s not too surprising, though, it’s tough for any author to create something entirely unique in such a well explored genre.

One area I wish had been more developed is the world building. I still don’t have a clear picture of what the kingdoms look like, and I would have appreciated more description. However, that’s not a huge issue, as it seems the author focused more on character development and building the romance, rather than diving deep into the fantasy world itself. I really love the main characters, but I do wish we could have learned more about the side characters. Some of them seem interesting, but they don’t get much screen time, and a few are introduced early on and then only reappear much later.

The politics and dragons, which are usually central to a fantasy plot, didn’t feel fully developed, and I kept hoping for more depth in those areas.

That said, despite these small flaws, I still enjoyed the story. I do wish it were a bit shorter, some parts could have been trimmed down a little. But overall, I really love this book.

Bismillah.

Congratulations, Bella, on your beautifully written book!
A fantasy story? I’m sold. I’ve always loved fantasy. I enjoy picturing the worlds authors create, and this includes Drasin Kingdom. It’s been a while since I last read a romantasy in English…the last time was probably back in high school. Haha.

I’m really glad I picked up this one. For me, it was a light read though of course the themes are much bigger, like war, corruption, and so on. But overall, it felt light and enjoyable, and I managed to finish it in a short time. Most importantly, I loved the chemistry between Alaric and Helena. Gosh, stop flirting already, man! You’re making me feel so single here… T.T

Other characters I really enjoyed were Lucian, Ethan, and Griffin.

"All of you have really beautiful eyes. God is great!"

I cant wait to read the next book. Hoping it will be published next year. XOXO

Okay, where do I even start? HAHAHAHA

This is actually my first romantasy book! I mean, a story with dragons and romance. Usually, I stick to thrillers, but since this was written by Bella Chu, I decided to give it a try.

It started off really well. Helena is so relatable in some scenes, and Prince Alaric’s remarks when he was in the human world were genuinely funny.

At first, I thought I’d stay loyal to Prince Alaric, but then I was completely swooned by Lucian’s brilliance—and Prince Ethan’s actions at the end of the story sealed the deal. I guess I really do have a soft spot for the eldest son. 🥺🥺

The interactions between Helena and Ghazi (the dragon) added another layer of comedy, which I absolutely loved. Overall, it’s such an enjoyable read, and I can’t wait for the author’s next book!

Life got busy that’s why I took too long to finish it when it was supposed to be a 2 day read. 😭

First of all congratulations to Bella Chu and Manes Wordworks for releasing a fantasy romance genre that involves dragons! It reminds me of Fourth Wing but mixed with the modern world.

I really loved the relationship dynamic between Alaric and Helena. I love that the author decides to put cute banter between the two of the characters. I can see their relationship grew with time and I like that about these two characters eventhough it was such a “sudden marriage”. I just wished there would be more hot and tension scenes between them but I guess it would be crossing age restrictions boundaries and considering Malaysia recent case in banning books. 🙄

There are also some critiques though, what I have experienced from reading this book I find myself to be lost most of the time and there were so many ideas but not enough explaining. Like the story would go on from another point in the story to a whole different point of the story without more elaboration of why the characters chose to do certain things.

For example, what why was Dorian helping her in the real world anyway? Isn’t he supposed to be in Elaris Khasu? Or the fact that Jess is a healer but Helena doesn’t question her further and there was no closure or anything on why they keep secrets from each other? I feel like in order to make the story seem more connected and believable, is to also work on the bonds of the characters. But I think I understand why the author could not expand on these plots maybe because of the limit in their manuscript? Or the deadline they have to submit the manuscript?

Regardless of the criticism, I had a blast reading this. I loved when Alaric throws poetic quotes to Helena and it was so cute even I blushed 🤣

“You’re like a rare flower—one that blooms only in certain places, under certain conditions, seen by few, touched by none. I want to keep you all to myself, Helena. I dream of building a garden where you could grow , safe and free, where I could bask in your beauty, feel your presence, and catch even a whisper of your scent. Perhaps I loved you long before I could call you mine—so much that I grow thankful for every today, yet greedy for every tomorrow we could have together. And without you, all I feel is the ache of blues and sorrows”

- Alaric

I WAS GIGGLING, KICKING MY FEET READING THIS DAMN HAHAHA

This is no hate to the author whatsoever. This is just my opinion on what needs to be improved because she has SOOO MUCH POTENTIAL! I feel like she should do this as a series and maybe create more conflict in the world of Drasin Empire for more awesome plot twists.

honestly at first i was kinda excited for this sorry but now I'm considering on putting this book on dnf.

a few reasons why:
1. weird lines/awkward storytelling.

maybe just me, but i felt like the writer used character.ai to help😭😭
there was this line in this story where helena was half-mad at prince alaric and he replied with, "you're adorable when you're mad," or something like that. AND WHEN I TELL YOU I INSTANTLY CLOCK THAT THIS IS FROM C.AI. if it's not then that's my bad for assuming.

another way you can clock c.ai writing is when they describes the scent too much, when it's not that necessary in scenes. also, i saw a commented say something about this line "he was half-shouting, half-whispering". unfortunately thats another characteristics c.ai writing in which they over explained or repeat the same word twice just in different form when describing emotions.

but i get that this is the writer's debut novel i just am not fond of that thing. it feels very artificial to me, in a way.

2. not much chemistry for the mcs

again, this is based on my personal opinion. i feel like whatever tension/chemistry we can have from helena and prince alaric is shattered when they got married so early in the story. it's kinda disappointing, actually. i get that it's not an enemies-to-lovers trope, or slow-burn, or friends-to-enemies but there marrying them so early in the story is just🫩🫩 i feel like there's no real connection between then and it just sort of went flat. they're just flirting but it's boring. that's just my opinion.

3. story execution

the whole premise of the novel seems promising at first. dragons, fae, Helena who's half-human half-fae. the portal to the human world. but the again, it just fell flat and feels underdeveloped. i jst cant bring myself to read it anymore.

but that's not to say im a hater of this story. i see the potential, but it's not for me. unfortunately i am one of the readers who got fomo and bought this book when it's not really for me. maybe im just not a fantasy fan😓😓 there's a lot of good things i could say about this book aside from the negatives, but for that you can read other commenters review as they explained it better.

love you bella chu. dont take this as a hate, but take it as a motivation for you to improve and write better stories next! wishing you luck🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻

9/05/2025 - NO SPOILERS review
so sorry i had to dnf this on chapter 20... i genuinely tried so hard to stick with it because i love reading romantasy, but unfortunately, the writing style... is just not for me. 😔

1. at times, the descriptions are filled with flowery and bombastic language, and then suddenly it shifts to something much plainer and simpler. it almost felt like i'm reading a book written by two different writers 😅 (if that makes sense??) and i noticed that the language only suddenly became flowery when the author described the setting, the characters' clothing,, or their scents.
2. oh and speaking of SCENTS. there were also too many DETAILED descriptions about scents. uuhhhh i don't think it's necessary to need to know what the characters smell like, especially all the time, and if it's not relevant to the plot. whenever i read those parts, i just skimmed through it.
3. i personally feel like the dialouges are kinda awkward sometimes.
4. too many telling instead of showing. i couldn't picture the scenes well because of this... and my imagination didn't work most of the time. (i know that's mainly on me, but still... it really took me out of the story man. i wanted to feel immersed, to see what the characters saw and feel what they felt,, but the descriptions felt flat, expect only when the author described scents. 🥲 it was like being told what to think, instead of being shown something i could imagine for myself)

TL;DR: inconsistent writing style (suddenly shifting from simple to overly bombastic), flat descriptions, awkward dialogues, too many 'telling' instead of 'showing', and unnecessary focus on how characters smell.

enough with the critiques ✌ now let's talk about what i liked about the book 💕:

1. as for the plot, i can't say much about it, since i DNF-ed this book halfway. but it was quite fast-paced (in a good way).
2. and i love the little quotes in every beginning of each chapter. cute touch! 😍
3. also am i the only one who finds Helena's brother hot 🤭 i like the scene where he
4. last but not least... the cover!! it gives off once upon a broken heart vibes. i'mma be honest, apart from the fact it's romantasy (my fav genre), i bought the book because the cover and spine designs are to die for. kudos to the illustrators! 👏❤

anyway, i wanna say that i'm not writing this to bash the author, or anyone. i'm simply expressing what i feel about the book. that's what reviews are for. 🙂 everyone is entitled to their own opinion, as long as it doesn't involve hate speech or bullying. and it's a debut novel, after all, so it's totally understandable for it to have some flaws. hoping the author continues to grow and improve in her future works. 💕🌷

23/04/2025
dual pov. short chapters.

if you're expecting enemies-to-lovers, i wouldn't recommend this, because Helena and Alaric aren't enemies to begin with. it leans more toward childhood friends-to-lovers trope.

just finished the first 5 chapters. the author uses a lot of telling instead of showing, but since it's a debut novel, i'm trying not to let it bother me too much. the setting isn't very descriptive either, so it's kinda hard for me to picture what’s happening.

also found quite a few typos and grammar errors, like "he doesn’t likes him" and "his the face was covered with a goat mask".

and ISTG, if i find another "he was half-shouting, half-whispering" im gonna tweak out, please author use another term/word (no hate) 💔💔

A new BENCHMARK has been set!

Witty writing.

Charming characters.

A plot to invest in.

Drasin Kingdom weaves magic, romance and action into nearly 500 pages of fantasy wonder. Prince Alaric is on a mission to prove everyone wrong - he will NOT be the kingdom's downfall. Fate brings him and Helena, half human and half fae, together. They need to summon a dragon, for the fate of the kingdom lies in their success. Will they succeed?

An utterly convincing novel! Drasin Kingdom is the perfect balance of world-building, "catchy" characters and a non-draggy, in-depth plot. I eased into the story smoothly.

My personal highlight would be Bella Chu's writing. Yeap! She makes me totally envious of her talent. The narration is descriptive without flooding the book with details. The dialogues are never over-the-top. I loved some of the witty banter. Most importantly, none of the elements made me cringe (I find that a lot in some books these days).

Prince Alaric has a persona which could quite easily come off, well, arrogant? Playboy-ish? Somehow, I found myself rooting for him. And Helena of course. Superbly done!

Not to forget the action scenes. They're vivid. Punchy. Everything you'd want in a fast-paced scene.

I definitely enjoyed the premise. It feels like there are several sides to it, leaving the reader spoiled for choice in selecting which to focus on.

Perhaps I would have enjoyed it even better if the world-building was crafted further. Regardless, this was a solid read! Can't wait for more books like this!

I love how straightfoward this book is. There's a suspend but the author reveal it in simplest way possible which is so good on how they wrote it. This is such a good read for someone who decided to read fantasy. The way the romance and action were perfectly balanced in this book is amazing. I never seen someone did such a good job on balancing these two genre especially when the book focus on issues more than romance. Bella Chu did that and I got to praised her for that.

Anyways to the characters. I love Helena and Alaric sm. These two cuties deserved so much than the cruelty they had to face. I love how whipped Alaric is. Childhood friends to lover will always been my weakness and I will love it amongst others genre. Anyways love how almost everyone had character development in this and which were done nicely. I love it.

read it yall.

What can I say? It’s really a combination of The Cruel Prince + Fourth Wing + House of the Dragon. Mixing fae and dragons was definitely not on my 2025 reading bingo card but Bella pulled it off so well!
I love how she managed to blend both elements smoothly. For a local author writing fantasy, this is such a huge achievement. Congrats Bella & Manes! As a girl who is seriously obsessed with dragons, I adored every dragon character in this book they were exactly how I imagined them. Hate to admit it, but this book definitely has the potential to debut as a series instead of remaining a standalone.
Bella, if you're reading this… I’m manifesting a dragon series next

Overall, this book is a great starter for readers who want to dive into fantasy especially if you love fae and dragons. So what are you waiting for? Go grab your copy nowww!!

This is truly a fascinating story and beginner friendly for those that wanted to start diving into reading fantasy. The writing is also beautiful and engaging.

Moreover, I love how the author implemented real life events regarding the injustice of those who are higher in power towards innocent civilians.

And my oh my, anything that comes out of Alaric’s mouth in swooning Helena made me blushed as well because that man’s a poet 😩💖

I’m quite captivated with the world building, where the chosen faes are able to create a bond with their befitting dragons. It’s like owning a real life pet but instead, they were massive and happened to guide us through the battlefield in fighting enemies. How cool was that?

Congratulations on your debut novel Bella Chu! Can’t wait to read more of your work soon ✨

I still can’t believe a local author can be this talented! What amazes me even more is that she’s a TESL graduate, just like the path I’m currently on 🥹 Truly an inspiration. Her writing is incredible, and I genuinely love her storytelling. While I did have a few questions while reading, I had full trust that the answers would come eventually and thank God they did. I absolutely adore the dynamic between Alaric and Helena 🥹 The ending did feel a little rushed, but I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of the adventure and romance she wove into the story. I can’t wait to read more of her work in the future!

Props to the author for a strong debut in the fantasy genre! The world-building in the first 30% was impressive, and the addition of dragons was a nice touch. I do wish there was more buildup between the two MCs before they got together. As the story progressed, the writing became simpler, which made the plot feel a bit underdeveloped. Still, it’s a great read for beginners who want to try an English novel.
