⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5-Star ARC Review Broken Blossoms by Jennifer N. Lloyd
From the moment I read the blurb, I felt it in my chest. I just knew this book would hit close to home and it really did. In the most tender, quietly powerful way it spoke to me.
Broken Blossoms is honest, raw, intimate and deeply moving. Jennifer N. Lloyd doesn’t just write about infertility - she gives voice to all the emotions that surround it. The grief, the longing, the quiet aches of waiting, the isolation that the journey brings … and the hope that sometimes refuses to let go. It’s all there, written with such grace and empathy.
As someone walking this same path, I felt seen in a way I didn’t expect. There were moments I had to pause and let the weight of a passage sink in as I resonated with how Jade was feeling; It was painful, yes - but also oddly healing in a way. It was like someone had reached into the silence and said, “Me too.” I felt truly seen.
What stayed with me most was the love between Oliver and Jade. His constant, gentle presence. The way he stands beside her, not just during the easy moments, but especially in the hardest ones. That kind of love is quiet, but fierce. Steady. And so deeply felt. It reminded me of the relationship that my husband and I share. Tender, Heartfelt and Loving.
Broken Blossoms isn’t just a novel, it’s a reflection of real-life heartbreak and resilience. It’s for the ones who carry invisible grief, who keep hoping even when the light feels dim. It’s honest, beautiful, and full of heart.
If you’ve ever felt the weight of this journey, this story will hold space for you. And if you haven’t, it will help you understand just how heavy—and how strong—that journey can be.
I had the extreme pleasure of reading this book as an ARC reader, and just….WOW!! I have read Jennifer’s first novel, and loved it, but this one far surpassed any expectations I had going into it! I laughed, I cried, I fell in love with (another) man from a book, and related to Jade so much. I highly recommend adding this book to your TBR immediately. This story of true love and hope was a pleasure to read, and I will be reading ANYTHING Jennifer writes.
I really don't even know where to start with this review. Jennifer has once again blown me away with her writing. I knew going into this book it was going to be about a rough heart-breaking topic. But little did I know how emotional reading this one would be. I cried, alligator tears more than once while reading this book. I have never dealt with the topic that is covered in this storyline. But just reading Jennifer's words will make anyone understand what a woman and a man go through when dealing with it. Jennifer threw not only her own emotions and experience into this but also brought out the feelings of the characters so well. You are truly on this journal with them. Every single emotion, every single tear and every single happy moment. This was a book that I could easily reread a million times even knowing that every single time it will tear my little heart apart. Jade and Oliver's story is so very well written. The emotions from each of them is truly there and you feel each and every one. Jennifer did an amazing job writing this storyline and bringing everything to the forefront. She definitely got me hooked with the characters and hoping for a happy ending. Highly recommend reading this one. Be warned you will need tissues plenty of them and time to read this from beginning to end. Another great book from a great writer.
The author presents the story of Jade and Oliver and their complicated journey to becoming parents.
From the first chapter, you empathize with both characters: Jade receiving the news that conceiving will be more difficult, her pain, her mix of emotions—oh, complicated. On the other hand, there's also Oliver, who, while he shares his wife's dream, is aware that with or without children, he loves his wife and it hurts to see her devastated every time he gets a negative result. This book is undoubtedly an emotional roller coaster. The author takes us on the arduous and complicated path that can be for those who dream of becoming parents, the tensions it creates in the characters' relationship, but also shows us that if there is empathy, trust, and love, they can face it together as a team. The most painful thing for me was reading Jade's suffering, her helplessness at feeling that everyone was reaching that long-awaited moment except her, and wow, it really hurt.
Also, when Wally (her dog) sensed that their reward for all their suffering had arrived 😭💗
"Finally, the forget-me-nots were not my last choice, but my first. They are here to show that my love for you is enduring. You will never be forgotten. If we never become parents, the life we have built together is the most meaningful thing I've ever known." 😭🥹
Tropes: ✨Infertility Rep ✨Healing Together ✨He Never Stopped Loving Her ✨Emotional Angst
This is a book every single person should read at least once in their lifetime.
Jade and Oliver has always had their life mapped out. But that went up in the air when they went to a specialist and was told that it will take some time and work to get pregnant, and it’s not a guarantee. Now Jade and Oliver must deal with the emotions and a plan to their situation along with finding themselves again.
Okay, so I really really loved this book. Everything that happens in this book (minus the ending) I live. Every single emotion Jade has, I have/had in the past. I was extremely emotional during this book cause I could relate to 98% of it.
You want to read a book with an infertility rep? This is the best book with the rep I have ever read. It shows how much of a struggle it really is. But more than that, it also show how much someone’s words can hurt.
There’s a of struggle in this book but it does have a happy ending. And that ending gave me so much hope in my own personal life.
Have fertility problems? Go read this book. Have ever talked about pregnancy to someone in your life? Go read this book. Because this book shows so much and you might realize something you didn’t know. This book made me feel so seen and heard it’s unreal.
If you are looking for a book that deals with the difficult topics of infertility and inspires hope of parenthood at the same time, this is an excellent read!
While I do not think I am the target audience for this book as I don’t plan to have children, I can certainly appreciate the depth of the characters’ pain and the intricacy of the story. Jade and Oliver are such a sweet couple together, and reading this story about their daily struggle to grow their family felt like it mirrored the struggle of so many real-life couples. While I found myself disagreeing with some of Jade’s thoughts (like how every woman wants to bear children - I personally do not!), I found myself relating to her in the ways that her anxiety presented itself. I can also relate to the unnecessary comments and judgments by family and friends being extremely frustrating and disheartening, women tend to receive those types of comments regardless of what our choices related to motherhood (or anything, really!) are.
Thank you to the author for providing me with an ARC of this book - it was very different from what I typically read, but I am glad I got to expand my horizons with it!
I was given the opportunity to read this as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
For anyone who is struggling with infertility, this book is for you. If you are considering starting your fertility journey, this book is for you. If you are someone who likes to talk about pregnancy or ask couples when they are going to start a family, this book is DEFINITELY for you..
From page one, I knew this book was going to be an emotional rollercoaster, and Jennifer did not disappoint. The portrayal of Jade and Oliver’s emotions as they navigated through their fertility journey was so beautiful and touching, you couldn’t help but feel like you too were experiencing each emotion with them, from sadness; disappointment; anger; depression; and excitement. As someone who struggles with infertility, I felt like Jennifer perfectly described how truly heart breaking and gut wrenching it can be for a couple. This book was such a healing moment for me and truly makes someone experiencing a similar journey feel heard and understood.
Don’t waste another second- get this book and dive right on in! You won’t regret it.
100% RECOMMEND!! A thoughtful, inspiring, and genuine love story, that explains the journey and emotions felt by couples facing infertility. If you are facing infertility, know someone who has, or are in neither of these categories, this book is a must read!! The life lessons intertwined in this story are ones everyone would benefit from- think before you speak, happiness can be found in the “small things”, seek life’s greatest adventures… the list goes on and on.
I loved the duel character perspective, and I instantly fell in love with Jade and Oliver. Jade’s strength is inspiring, and Oliver’s love and compassion for his wife is what most women hope for. I was rooting for their happy ending, and felt their joy, sadness, worry, hope, and every other emotion with them. A good reminder to chase life’s greatest adventures, and a relatable story for many! I couldn’t put this book down! ABSOLUTELY worth the read! Jennifer Loydd is a very talented, engaging, refreshingly honest, and relatable writer!
Omg! This book is something everyone needs to read. It’s a loving and heartbreaking story of a couple struggling with infertility.
Jade and Oliver want to add to their family and give Wally (their dog) a little human. They are struggling to add to the family but Oliver continues to love Jade through it all. They both continue to be the best parents they can be for Wally.
Through their internal struggles, their struggles with each other and their friends and families comments. They stay strong and get through it all together.
This book is full of emotions that range from heartbreak to laughter and love. This books gives the reader a look into what it feels like to struggle with infertility. As someone who fears that this will be the case when I am ready, this book gives me the courage and hope that it will be okay.
Jennifer Lloyd is a truly amazing author. Her books portray real life situations and character development. She shows you the good and the bad. I am once again amazed by her writing and dedication.
Broken Blossoms is a beautifully written, emotional journey that follows Jade and Oliver as they navigate the challenges of infertility while holding onto hope and love.
The alternating perspectives draw you into the characters’ thoughts, feelings, and fears, offering a powerful way to engage directly with their journey and better understand the nuances of their relationship.
Scenes at the restaurant, their time at the resort, and the Labor Day exchange felt utterly human: intimate, raw, and relatable. I was especially moved by how openly they expressed their love for one another.
The writing is clever, detailed, and empathetic. While the story deals with a difficult topic, it balances honesty with warmth, humor, and hope. It’s a journey that will resonate deeply with those who have faced similar challenges and offers a poignant, heartfelt reflection on life’s uncertainties.
Broken Blossoms is a story that lingers, both in the heart and in the mind, long after the last page.
Jennifer N. Lloyd took such a trying and emotional situation that some woman struggle with and wrote such a touching story. I’ll start with saying that this book was very well written. The writing flowed so wonderfully and the characters were well developed. It was written in such a way that you could feel every emotion being felt by the characters. The story itself was beautiful. Being a mother who once struggled with wanting kids and being told I had issues that were keeping me from them, this story for sure tugged at my heart. It reminded me again that life is beautiful when small blessings are given. Faith and love can overcome so much in this life. Oh…and can we talk about Oliver and Jade’s relationship for a moment. Oliver is exactly the type of loving husband every girl deserves and luckily some of us have! My favorite part of this book was reading the love being shown constantly in this relationship! All I can say is this is such a good book. It will be one I read again!
This is my first read by Jennifer Lloyd and all I can say is WOW!!
Broken Blossoms grabbed me from the start. It is the story of a young married couple and their journey through infertility. The story is from both perspectives; so we know exactly what each character is feeling at the moment. The emotions running throughout will have the reader feeling the love, the pain, the scary moments and the disappointments - yeah you will shed some tears for them but you will also share their happy moments.
Broken Blossoms is well written, the characters are very well developed and research is top tiered. While reading, it made me think about how easy it is for some couples to get pregnant and then we see those who have a difficult time.
Firstly, I have to say that Jennifer Lloyd is one of my favorite new authors - she continuously does an amazing job capturing real life struggles in a realistic way that makes you relate to her characters deeply. Her writing style is just so flawless and makes you immerse yourself into the story she is telling and enjoy every bit of it! Broken Blossoms is a beautiful story that really showcases the struggles of infertility and how it impacts a couple’s life. The characters are relatable and lovable, and you can truly feel the love between them written out on the page. Oliver is such a positive example of what women would want their partner to be like in this situation, which I wasn’t really expecting from a book that revolves around this topic - I was pleasantly surprised. I loved this book and highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a realistic, emotional read with amazing characters and a great plot!
This book took me on an emotional rollercoaster, following the deeply moving and often heartbreaking journey of a young couple grappling with the unfair realities of infertility. Although this isn’t my usual genre, the story captured me from the very first page. The writing is powerful, and the character development is intricate and authentic, drawing me into their world completely. I felt every emotion alongside them—hope, frustration, love, despair, and unwavering passion. It’s a raw and intimate portrayal of love tested by unimaginable challenges, and I found myself shedding more than a few tears. A beautifully written, unforgettable story that stayed with me long after I turned the final page.
This is Jade and Oliver’s journey, which is revealed by dual POV’s. Jade and Oliver have embraced life with open arms, and long to start a family, Hurtful comment from family and friends, has them reaching breaking point. Will their love be enough to keep them together? This is a beautifully written easy to read, emotional roller coaster story, with family, friendships, engaging and realistic characters, unexpected challenges, infertility, hope, despair, humor, facing reality, and unconditional love, which leads to an entertaining, tragic, poignant, and unpredictable addictive page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

A MUST-READ! 🌟 This book completely captivated me! From the first page, I felt like I was living alongside the characters. The writing is phenomenal, and the story tugs at your heartstrings in all the right ways. It’s a powerful reminder of how essential it is to nurture both love and faith, especially when life throws curveballs. The pacing was perfect, and the plot unfolded beautifully, leaving me with a tear in my eye by the end. Truly an unforgettable journey of growth, patience, and perseverance. Highly recommend this one!
Omgoodness this book was absolutely fantastic. It was a roller-coaster of emotions from busting out loud laughing to having to stop reading from crying so hard. Oliver is this amazing husband and the embodiment of how a husband should love and support his wife. His love for Jay comes out in both the words his says and more importantly his actions. This story is a journey that takes you through one of the hardest struggles a couple faces and gives you a chance to understand how life altering infertility can be. It reminds you that life is adventure and should be lived fully and completely.
✨Broken Blossoms is filled with many different kinds of emotions. A couple dealing with infertility issues and how they choose to deal with it. This book is something I normally don’t read but I’m so glad I did. It was beautifully written. The author did a great job in showing the struggles that Jade and Oliver faced, as individuals and as a couple.
Broken Blossoms by Jennifer Lloyd was such an emotional read—heart-wrenching in the best way. The love between Jade and Oliver felt so real and raw. Their connection pulled me in from the start, and I was completely invested in their journey.
Oliver was the kind of partner everyone hopes for. The way he supported Jade through their struggles—especially with infertility—was incredibly touching. He truly put her first and showed what unconditional love looks like.
This book broke my heart and healed it at the same time. Beautifully written, honest, and full of emotion. Highly recommend!
A lovely book that shares the experience of a couple wanting a child. You experience the build up of emotions of want, passion, need and heartbreak. This book may make you cry, it may be difficult to read, but in the end you find joy that comes out of the difficult times. I had the wonderful opportunity to invite the author to our Book Club meeting. She answered our questions, made us think differently about certain chapters and opened our thoughts about an author’s journey into writing. Jennifer is a remarkable author.
I love this book. I know it is going to touch so many lives. It’s relatable and puts into perspective the feelings many have to endure during family growing stages of life! Love the spicy scenes and the relationship of the characters! It kept me wanting to know what was going to happen in the end and had many eye opening real life situations that were portrayed in a way that makes you feel like you are the characters in one way or another! Recommended 100%!
Be prepared to fall in love with Jade and Oliver as you follow them on their journey. It is heart breaking and emotional but the love they have for each other is astounding. Infertility is not something I can relate to but I felt a connection to Jade from the beginning. I was crossing my fingers and praying for her the entire time. Oliver's unwavering support and endless love was incredible as well. Make sure to have your tissues handy!! This is an amazing adventure.
Jennifer Loyd did it again! This is the second book I have read by this amazing author and let me tell you it did not disappoint. The characters are absolutely amazing and relatable. If you are looking for a story that pulls you in from the first page and takes you on an incredible emotional roller coaster ride, then look no further. You will laugh, you will cry and you will not be able to put the book down until you have finished. Happy Reading!!
I don’t know what made me cry more the ending or the acknowledgments!
Jenifer, you are an INCREDIBLE author. When I read the trigger warnings, I thought to myself “I’ve never been in these shoes before, so I should be okay” WOW. You write so beautifully I felt everything. Every heartache, anger, sadness and happiness. I felt it all as if I was Jade. This book is amazing. I will not lie, it IS triggering. So please read the warning and proceed with caution.
What an emotionally deep book. Not my typical read, and not something I’ve personally had to deal with but it definitely helped give me an insight to what others have faced. Jade just wants to be a mother so deeply but faces infertility, and her husband Oliver is just so loving and kind. A dual POV that takes us along in their journey and just a great book. I cried during this book and it definitely left an impact. A definite must read
A fantastic story that touches on a subject we don't read about often. We hear about it, just about everyone knows some one who has struggled. This book will hit you hard and make you feel every emotion while watching a beautiful loving couple deal with not being able to do what most couples take for granted. They just want to have a child and become a family.
This book was so beautifully written. It’s been awhile since I’ve read a book that hit me so emotionally. I just can’t explain it, but I absolutely love how Jennifer portrayed the characters and developed the story. I felt so many emotions reading this book, but it was absolutely amazing and I recommend it to anyone. Thank you for choosing me for your ARC team!
Such a great read about a couple struggling with infertility issues and the emotional ups and downs related to this. I really enjoyed the main characters, Jade and Oliver, and the love they had for each other, and especially how Oliver shows his constant support for his wife. I highly recommend this book, especially if you and your significant other are dealing with this issue.
