This book contains riddles inspired
Plato · Socrates · Lao Tzu · The Stoics · Epicurus · Buddhism · Rumi

Why does philosophy never run out of questions? Perhaps because it’s a trickster, always just out of reach, making you realize it’s been playing with you all along...
The greatest thinkers knew that understanding often comes through contradiction, paradox, and questions that refuse to be pinned down. Philosophy doesn’t offer easy answers; it invites us to dance with questions.

These riddles give you a chance to revisit old ideas and twist them in new ways. Each one raises fresh questions and redefines familiar concepts. They invite you to join the game—not to wrap things up, but to stir up your thinking and see what falls into place. Think of them as a sandbox for your thoughts. There’s no fixed path, but if you let yourself get lost sometimes, you might stumble upon something that makes you want to pull on a new thread and see where it leads.

And isn’t that where discovery (and fun) really begins?

Monica Laura Rapeanu is an award-winning author, publisher, researcher, and visual artist born in Romania. A storyteller at heart, her love for art—poetry, painting, and music—has shaped her since childhood. She is the founder of the online publishing house MONLart Publishing.

"Monica Laura Rapeanu is one of the authentic, leading voices of the contemporary generation of creators, transforming her intense emotions and existential reflections into verses. She debuted with Deasupra Visului (Up Above the Dream), a collection that received excellent recognition from both the public and literary professionals. Critics and writers have highlighted her vigorous talent and the mastery with which she shapes and tames the Word.
With her second volume—thoughtfully, expressively, and meaningfully titled Orbul de la Cina (The Blind Man at Dinner)—Monica reinforces my belief that she takes her poetic gift seriously."
— Valeriu Stancu, writer and editor

„I have followed Monica Laura Rapeanu’s evolution since her remarkable debut, at only twenty, with the poetry collection 'Up Above the Dream', which was awarded by the Writers’ Union. Rejecting excess and embracing precision, untempted by ornament or rhetorical flourish, the poet has not, however, sought to abandon metaphor or lyricism altogether. Poetry, after all, is her natural medium: Monica seems to breathe it as she lives, drawn irresistibly to the unfinished nature of things — to the infinite potential that lies within both the created and the yet uncreated world.”
— A.I. Brumaru, philosopher and literary critic

"Monica Rapeanu refuses rhetoric, avoiding expressions where words crowd out meaning. In her poetry, meditation and description do not merely coexist but often converge, creating a voice that seems to emerge spontaneously. This approach is marked by a fluidity that enhances its expressiveness while maintaining a remarkable conciseness, depth and clarity."
— Daniel Dimitriu, editor and researcher

"Monica Râpeanu’s poetry expresses a state of mind marked by an unsettling serenity. She offers the reader certain semantic clues, yet leaves it to them to decide whether to adopt these keys to understanding. In her poetry, the world is experienced as revelation. Ultimately, what lingers with the reader after engaging with Monica’s poems is a sense of centeredness—an ability, through poetry, to translate the core of the self and of the world."
— Serban Axinte, writer and literary critic

This book is both creative and challenging. It goes beyond the simple art of creating riddles from complex ideas and reveals an author who approaches philosophy with genuine passion and care, aiming to 'translate' complex concepts into a more accessible language. This isn’t just another riddle collection. The explanations given at the end are clear, concise guides—almost like a beginner’s manual to philosophical thought. For philosophy savvy, the riddles offer a playful and engaging way to revisit familiar concepts. For readers less familiar with the field, they provide a quick, well-articulated introduction that’s easy to understand and absorb.

Riddles are tricky little things, but once they start weaving in all those abstract, complex ideas, that’s when things get really interesting. The author has a knack for words—sometimes poetic and subtle, other times ironic and playful. I really enjoyed this book, and honestly, I’m looking forward to more.
