At twenty-one, Noodle is done being America’s little sweetheart. Once a beloved child star, she’s now desperate to escape the glittering image forced upon her and discover who she is as a woman. Her ultimate dream? To pour her soul into music and finally sing on her own terms. But carving out a new identity is messy, especially under the relentless gaze of a public that refuses to let her grow up.
Bu, on the other hand, is six months out of prison and navigating a world that moved on without him. At twenty-five, he’s rough around the edges and no-nonsense, determined to focus on starting a landscaping business and leaving his mistakes behind. Love is the last thing on his mind—until he crosses paths with Noodle.
Despite their differences, an undeniable connection blooms between them. As they navigate their own struggles—Noodle fighting to reclaim her voice and Bu learning to trust himself in a free world, they find solace, understanding, and passion in each other. Together, they embark on a journey that’s as unpredictable as it is beautiful, proving that sometimes, chasing galaxies means finding the courage to reach for the stars in each other.
The story was good, and Noodle kept me wanting more, but I wasn’t really feeling the *love after lockup* trope. No shade to Bu he was solid and exactly what she needed but that element of the story just didn’t work for me. Considering everything Noodle had already been through, it felt like another layer of forced abandonment when she really deserved some peace, especially while dealing with her career struggles.
I could definitely tell she was raised by Qamar, given all that silent suffering (aka the unnecessary pressure she put on herself and the constant crying without action). She had so many people loving her, protecting her, and trying to support her, yet she kept insisting she was fine and didn’t need help. You can’t have it both ways being *woe is me* while also rejecting the very people offering solutions. If she wanted to sit in her misery, fine, but she couldn’t claim no one saw or understood her when they were actively trying, throwing her lifelines that she refused to take.
I also didn’t really understand the inclusion of the nerdy guy and Bridgette. Their presence didn’t add much to the story. And with all the celebrities in Noodle’s circle (Luna, Quameer, Qamar), it didn’t make sense that they didn’t push for her to have a proper PR agency and management team the way they did for Elle. That felt like a missed opportunity.
Overall, it was a nice story, but Noodle wasn’t my favorite FMC from this series. I also feel like therapy should play a bigger role in these characters' lives. Lastly, I’m not a fan of characters making up conflicts in their heads like Noodle assuming Siasia would be mad about her reconciling with her mom. Siasia never gave off a mean or vindictive energy, even when she saw the complicated dynamic between Stephanie, Luna, and Solar, so that worry felt unnecessary.
It’s Bu for me 🥰 literally swooned over him and Noodle. This is how I like my teeny bopper stories! lol They were so perfect for each other ☺️ from beginning until the end.
Chasing Galaxies was such a highly anticipated read for me, and it checked off all my boxes – an unexpected love story, a journey to self-discovery, and a lover who speaks life into their partner. In the previous stories, there were glimpses of Noodle’s life, but hearing her thoughts and feelings was bittersweet but welcoming. Evelyn did a fantastic job with handling Noodle with care, while shining the spotlight on the entertainment industry. I don’t think there was ever a doubt in my mind that Bu was just the man to turn Noodle out and baby – listen, Bu is that man!
In this story, Noodle is just turning 21 years old, she’s spent years as a child actress and is wanting more mature opportunities, and rightfully so, but America’s Princess is not allowed to grow up. Insert Bu, fresh out of a four-year bid, and ready to tackle his new reality. When Noodle and Bu are in each other’s presence, there is undeniable chemistry. The two are light years apart but placed in each other’s world at the right time. There is something about the good girl falling for the bad boy that piques my interest. And then Bu had the nerve to know how to use his words! The way he spoke life into Noodle had me cheesing so hard, because that’s exactly what was needed – and it needed to be from someone that was not in the family. Falling for Bu helped Noodle to find her voice and chase her dreams – as a chronic people pleaser, Bu ignited a fire that had been burning inside for years.
I could go on and on singing praises about this book, but I digress. The flow of the story was just right; there were swoon worthy moments, times when I laughed out loud, and several instances where I wanted Noodle to remember who her family was. But I understood the “why” behind her behavior, she wanted to prove she could handle things on her own. There was a quote that moved me “You’re drowning because you’re letting them control the tide.” Listen, Evelyn was dropping gems, and I was having several “aha” moments. I loved this story!
Noodle and Bu need therapy. Bless them but I enjoyed the read. 2 different backgrounds coming together ❤️❤️❤️❤️ I had quite a few emotions throughout the book esp during the epilogue. ✨🌑🌖🌕💍🩷 Wish there was a conclusion regarding the Kidverse situation bc after Bu paid that quarter of a mil retainer fee I need to know what happened. But maybe it’ll be spoken of in the next book?
“You my home, my safe place, literally my favorite fu#$in’ person, baby. You my universe and my world only exists in you.” Bu was completely gone over Noodle and he had no problem using his words to express that love.
Noodle aka Jacory is 21 now all grown up, this is the musically gifted kid that stole my heart in Beyond the Stars (read that book first), and has unfortunately lost her way. Due to her unconventional upbringing, she tries to figure things out on her own. Not wanting to be a burden to her sister, she finds herself tied up in a contract with Kidverse (like Disney) and she is literally drowning. The non existent relationship with her birth mother and the trauma experienced by her step mother has her scared to love. In fact she is completely closed off to the idea, that is until she runs into Bu.
Bu is fresh out after doing 4 years for protecting his brother. Bu was the "bad boy" of most young girls dreams. He was fine AF, wise beyond his years, loyal to a fault, retired from his gang affiliation but a fierce protector when needed, and a hard worker that made excellent decisions with his money. At his coming home party him and Noodle connect and they both feel it in their souls. Both of them are forever changed. Noodle and Bu were so cute together. He helps her find the courage to use her gifts and to fight for herself. I loved how even though they were not in church, they were growing closer to God spiritually. The young love was beautiful between them and truly was the highlight of the story.
**""Spoilers**"" A few things missed the mark for me in a book that had 5 star potential: *The timelines were off. There is a chapter that says a month later, but within the chapter it's giving a week or 2 weeks at most. At the end of the book it's a year later, but Noodle is still 21? *Unfinished storylines. So, Bu pays a quarter mil to fight Kidverse for her, but we aren't going to address it at all? If I'm paying that type of money I expect a resolution. Aku and Devin have a connection of sorts, why bring it up to never mention it again. The same with Pimp and Bobby. I get maybe wanting to lead to other books, but it could have been written better. * The conflict or avoidance of Siasia by Noodle was dragged on. We got the reasoning, but did things get better with Jackie coming into their lives. Was it a smooth transition? *Lastly, one of the pivotal moments is when Bu tells Devin that Noodle can't block out the noise, she goes on to prove him wrong and I feel like that loop needed to be closed.
While I hate to have so many questions at the end of books, I really appreciated the love story that was told. I love a BIG love and this was truly that. So, I do still recommend the book.
This entire standalone series is so good. I've been so involved in all of these characters. Thank you for taking your time to develop and bring all of their stories to light. Always to the moon!!!!!! Y'all just read the damn book.
This was a sweet, feel good story of young love and a lost girl coming into her own. Bu was so patient and kind to Noodle, he was exactly what she needed when she needed it. I felt lost a lot while reading because I've read the other books that are available on Amazon, but maybe it was too long ago for me to remember in detail. Also, so much time had passed I had to keep reminding myself who was who. If possible, I would recommend reading all the books in order before you get to this one. They're all very much worth the read.
Chasing Galaxies by Evelyn Latrice was a highly anticipated read for me, and it certainly did not disappoint. As a mesmerizing continuation of the 8th Wonder Series, it captivated me with its profound narrative and emotional depth. The book follows Jacory, affectionately known as Noodle, on a path to self-discovery alongside the endearing Bethune, or Bu.
What stood out most in this riveting tale was Bu's unwavering love and affirmations for Noodle. Bu’s words and actions were a gentle reminder of the power of love and support, which resonated deeply with Noodle as she embarked on her transformative journey. This relationship was not just a subplot but a strong pillar that upheld the story's emotional essence.
Noodle's story was incredibly relatable and struck a chord with me. Her struggles and triumphs mirrored many of my own experiences, making her narrative all the more personal and inspiring. It was a joy to see her evolve and grow with every turn of the page.
As I immersed myself in Noodle's world, I couldn't help but feel a surge of giddy excitement. The book's intricate portrayal of friendships, love, and personal growth left me feeling uplifted and hopeful. Chasing Galaxies is not just a book; it's an experience that leaves you pondering long after the last page is turned. It truly met and exceeded all my expectations, leaving me eagerly awaiting what Evelyn Latrice will bring to the series next.
I enjoyed To the Moon. I loved Beyond the Stars. I feel like I missed the plot for Chasing Galaxies. I don’t understand the conflict.
Noodle is a former child star trying to break free of her childhood contract. But, she has this complex where she feels the need to handle everything on her own even though she has a a well-connected and loving family willing to help her fight her battles.
Bu is resetting after a stint in prison but looking for a change of scenery. They meet. They “connect.” So…what’s the problem? 🤷🏿♀️
Beyond the conflict of them not working because they’re “from different worlds,” there really was no barrier to them falling in love except the media. But, forget the media! She has a whole well-connected family!
I was really excited to continue reading The 8th Wonder series. I didn’t hate this book but I didn’t love it either.
This one wasn’t as long or in-depth as the first three but yet again, Evelyn hit on some tough topics. The struggle of being a felon and trying to do better on the outside. The trauma and dangers of being a child star and trying to fit the image they want you in. Trying to live a life steeped in unhealed childhood trauma. But in the end, you realize you’ve always had what you needed.
This was just as good as others in this series. I enjoyed reading about grown up Noodle. I liked that she was stepping out of who she thought she should be and exploring who she actually was. Her relationship with Bu. Together they really balanced each other’s energy. Overall a good continuation.
Noodle was drowning, but Bu heard her calls for help. Noodle reminded me so much of Luna. Not that she had to Cate for siblings, but that she wasn't living in her happy place and carrying things that weren't really hers to carry. That's until Bu (Bethune) stepped on the scene and changed her whole outlook on life and love. Graduating from the company that held her hostage to being that woman/artist she wanted to be was fulfilling. Noodle was reminscent of Qamar because she didn't want her family swooping in to save her. Sometimes you need help though, and those Moody's don't play. It was a treat seeing Noodle, Aku, and Little Lunar all grown up. Every book is like a ten year jump, but hopefully Lunar's isn't. I know it's his book, but I want to see some things resolved that came up in Noodles book. Happy Reading Y'all!💋
I loved lil noodle but that transition from America’s sweet heart to Jacory was top tier! And that BU thats a good man Savannah 😂😂 i loved them downnn. Im excited to read about Nar and Aku…
I enjoyed Noodle and Boo’s story. Noodle was the on a search to find herself after being a child star. I love how the family came together to support her independence.
4/5 — Noodle & Bu were so cute. They pushed one another to their full potential. I felt all of the passion and emotions while reading this book. Such a beautiful love story. — Noodle was always in her head but Bu came through with the affirmations and unconditional love. It was shown all through the story.
In “Beyond the Stars”, we met Noodle when she was just 10 years old. She was a spunky little princess that spoke her mind, but suffered from a traumatic childhood. 11 years later, we are reintroduced to Noodle all grown up. Chasing Galaxies allows us to oversee Noodle navigating her world and trying to rediscover who she is as an adult. The way this story tied together was soo cute, and I couldn't keep myself from smiling. Bu was the MAN Noodle never knew she needed. He taught her how to not only love, but be a recipient of it as well. The dynamic of their relationship was overwhelming and pure. I’m so glad they got their HEA.
The writing style and character development was soo good. This book is under 300 pages, however I was left satisfied with the conclusion of the book. I felt that enough information was provided throughout the story and I do not feel that there was anything missing. Although the book ended without a cliffhanger, the ending does leave room for more ……… (I’m just being greedy, iykyk)
BU & Noodle . The Galaxies is Theirs… 💫❤️ Highly Recommended.
Bu & Noodle , hands down are my favorites. I didn’t think nobody could top French & Solar but mannn. Bu was the Man for his baby! & Noodle was the girl for her bu. I did not want this to end. I was hooked soon they both graced the pages . I felt it and this book literally had butterflies in my stomach . Just astonishing. Their love story was created in a way you couldn’t help but fall. I can go on and & on and I’m definitely running it back.
I be loving the family appearances especially my French . I love him downnnnnn!!! But anyway if yall not on the wonder series what are you doing it literally get better and better and you really see how talened Evelyn is .
I need Aku , Princeton to get a story cause I want moreeeee.
“Wake me up , Shake me Race me to the stars “ The Galaxy is Ours by Proto Zoa. (IYKYK) get ready to experience all the feels.
I started this because after reading Qamar, I promised to read the rest of this series in a whole seating, and thinking that Noodle’s story was going to be something, anything but it was so boring and boring and unrealistic and boring. I know that these stories are fictional stories, but they also shouldn’t have dumb, childish and boring characters. At least with Qamar, it was still young adult but with old minds frame, but this was young and younger and youngest. I have read several Young adult stories and this one ☝️ was not it… Noodle was a selfish brat with specially Siaisa and even Qamar while playing grown up. We even see how French got her but 🤬🤬🤬, I am so mad about that and even with Luna, while Bethune was just a little boy. Nothing made sense for me and as much as I loved this family, Noodle didn’t make it for me… I am just hoping that Lunar and Aku brings it home make it a worthwhile experience, because this author was the bomb and is the best…. Now let’s what little Lunar got to say or even Aku…
Even when your legs ache and the stars feel out of your reach— keep running— keep Chasing Galaxies
I was literally swooning over Noodle and Bu 🥰. They were so cute. The way they pushed each other to do great. They balanced one another so well. To have someone in your corner, rooting for you, seeing the greater pieces of you that you don’t see is unconditional.
Noodle was such a complex character. It was layers to her like pulling lettuce from its head. Bu was IT for her. The affirmations and love he threw at her showed through the pages.
This book will resonate with you. You can feel the passion and emotions while reading. It will pull your heartstrings. This was a beautiful love story. Ms. Evelyn, you did your thing 👏🏾.
I received a ARC copy for my honest review, all thoughts are my own.
Evelyn wrote TF out of this story. Like I’m sitting here crying writing this review because I was not expecting that type of ending. A love like the one Noodle and Bu have is just so (I don’t even have the words). When you find that person, you just know and everything makes sense.
Jacoby “Noodle” was always stuck in her head trying to live up to expectations others had for her but also wanted to be able to be herself. America’s Princess was drowning and she didn’t feel like she could ask for help.
Bethune “Bu” was about the streets (still is if needed) and after breaking a promise, serving time, and coming back home found what Bee was talking about. That person that makes your heart beat differently is always unexpected.
I truly enjoyed this story. When two people from two totally different walks of life collide. Bu was everythingggg! I thought Noodle being in her head was going to be annoying but Bu was so sure of himself and so gentle with her that it offset the constant doubt she displayed throughout the book. The only thing I didn’t quite like was Bu was going to have a conversation with Pimp about messing with another DL man but it never happened. I think because it was a big part of Bu’s story regarding going to jail behind his brother’s mess that there should have been more details surrounding it. Pimp also wasn’t mentioned much towards the end when Bu was locked up again. That situation stemmed from the original altercation seeing as though the “victim’s” father wanted revenge.
Evelyn Latrice does no wrong in my eyes, and Chasing Galaxies proved me right yet again. Noodle and Bu were everything—raw, real, and beautifully imperfect. I loved watching them evolve, not just as a couple but as individuals, each carving out their own path while still finding their way back to each other. The emotions were deep, the chemistry was electric, and every page felt like a journey through love, healing, and self-discovery. This book was everything I can’t wait to see what’s next!
Thank you for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.
Evelyn’s pen is on point with the emotional depth she creates in her characters. It truly makes them relatable in so many ways and allows her readers to see glimpse of what some might be or have experienced themselves.
Bu.Bu.Bu. Mr. Bethune, What can be said about a man that speaks to every matter of a woman’s being? He’s one of one is about it. While I initially wanted Lil Lunar with Noodle, I am glad that Bu came into the galaxy because he’s hmmmm good!!!!

I absolutely loved Noodles and Bu’s journey to a HEA!!!…This book was so beautifully written and and it tapped on every emotion you have!!!…My heart broke for Noodle, even though she knew she had family behind her, she was missing that critical person, her mother!!!…Bu carried those memories of his mother with every thought, every stumble and every success!!!… Noodles went through lot and was hiding from life and drowning when she thought she was escaping!!!…It was beautiful to see Bu working with her so she can see just how beautiful she was and how much life she had to live and big ole heart to give!!!…
This novel has to be in my top 3 from the series. The way Bu leads without manipulation and control should be studied. Bu was a grown man knowing exactly what he wanted and how he wanted it. Also gentle enough to teach without been condescending.
Noodle straddles the fence of being a grown woman but still very much attached to the little girl inside her. Making mistakes that a woman her age is allowed to make but too prideful to ask for her.
Their love is like two colliding trains. You feel it just off the pages but when one hurt, it is so deep and magnifying that your heart hurts as well. Such a beautiful story.
Evelyn hit it out the park again! I loved seeing Noodle”s story with everything she was feeling and went through. She fought so hard to find herself and come into who she truly is personally and professionally. Bu was such a great man as well and somewhat experiencing some of the same self doubts as Noodle but for different reasons. I loved how Bu spoke life into Noodle to build her confidence and just make her feel loved. They seemed perfect for one another. I low key want more from their story!
I so love this series Noodle just wanted to be her true authentic self Bu wanted to rise above labels placed on him….this catching up with the Moonys kids was so relatable trying to cope with love and life learning to look past the superficial Bu helped noodle believe in & bet on herself telling she is not who lovers made her to be & Bu accepting the love he deserved…but the jewels that were dropped in these pages I was annotating away can’t wait to read more about Lunar and Aku
