The Autobots return to Earth -- with Optimus Prime in command! But what brought them back -- and what terrifying secret do the humans hold? Galvatron is on Earth as well, with a plan to reshape it as he once did with Cybertron. A bold new era begins here! Collects issues #28-32.
IDW has done an amazing job with the new Transformers... giving the story depth and character to spare.
In the Robots in Disguise series, the focus is much more on intelligent dialogue and suspense. This newest series once again does a great job of world building and character building. Definite read.
Transformers: Robots In Disguise Vol. 6 kick off a few months after the previous book with the Transformers returning to Earth in order to retrieve Alpha Trion who is suspected to be on the planet! :D Complicating all of this though is that fact that the Decepticons have formed an alliance with the Humans on Earth and have set a trap for Prime and co! :D
Transformers: Robots In Disguise Vol. 6 works brilliantly as you start to realise to the depths that the humans have actually tried to manipulate things for their side! Though of course the Decepticons are up to their machinations as ever the humans reckon that they can control them! :D Though of course when this goes belly up they byplay with the humans goes up a notch as the Decepticons are seen to be very clearly manipulating events! :D
At the same time Prime is having it out with Alpha Trion who turns out to be one of the original Prime's and this gives us more backstory on Cybertrons past with more explanation about the 13 tribes of Cybertron which neatly ties into Shockwave's Regenesis experiments that are still effecting the present day! :D The character development is all up there as well with Prowl and the Constructions still appearing to be a somewhat loose cannon! :D
The books is not afraid of it's humour either as we see the moment Optimus is off doing missions the rest promptly ignore his orders, not to point out a Transformers best friend antics courtesy of Thundercracker and Buster! :D
The art style is great as ever with periods represented in different styles that are then used to neatly dovetail with the presents style! :D This is also neatly carried over with Prime's interactions with Alpha Trion neatly combing the two side and making for a neat synergy will Prowls spying! :D
Transformers: Robots In Disguise Vol. 6 sets thing sup brilliantly from Alpha Trion's revelations, to Skywarps discovery, the machination of the Transformers, backstory, new plot developments, everything works brilliantly on a grand epic scale and sets things up for the next books in decisive brilliant way! :D Transformers: Robots In Disguise Vol. 6 hits all the marks and more and is full of adventure, character arcs, heroics, chilling revelations, Hope revelations jokes moral choices, over the top grandstanding and action packed throughout! :D Brilliant and highly recommended! :D Make sure you have the next one! :D

I find it hilarious that the second humans return to the story it immediately becomes more convoluted and uninteresting. I feel like most people would agree that Transformers is always better when humans aren't really involved. If they are used more as reactionary and not really involved too much in the plot they are fine, but just like the movies they are almost completely cringe. It is just how it is and apparently always will be. Anyway, the plot was interesting to say the least. It wasn't what I would call good though. Hopefully the next volume somewhat improves but I highly doubt it will.
Also, Thundercracker is now just completely comic relief. How could you fall so far? How could they do this to my boy? Writing terrible screenplays instead of fighting in wars and battles and being a badass? I'm giving it two stars. It wasn't bad enough to be a one star, but it may as well have been.
This volume shifts our perspective away from Cybertron, to Optimus Prime's band of Autobots as they return to Earth. Some interesting developments, such as Thundercracker adjusting to Earth life, the introduction of IDW's versions of Marissa Faireborn and the Earth Defense Command, and Prowl taking his scheming to a whole new level. We also get our first real look at the Decepticons in a post-Megatron era, including a surprising new leader and an even more surprising group of allies (so surprising, in fact, that it strains credibility). Definitely an interesting read, but more for existing Transformers fans than the offbeat More Than Meets the Eye. (B+)
Awesome artwork. Really fantastic! But I don't like the story. It's too convoluted and confusing. Plus, I don't like what they are doing with the character's motivations. Up is down, black is white, etc. The Deceptions are now heroes who fight for the equality of all, and the Autobots are just cultists who fight for their leader. Also, instead of being a wise leader, Prime is depicted as being a bumbling idiot. I really don't like this at all. I hope they fix it in issues to come that I haven't read yet, because IDW is really losing me here. I do like Thundercracker's dog though.
Optimus brings a crew of Autobots (as well as Prowl and his Constructicons) back to earth to search for difficult answers and to find Alpha Trion. But Galvatron and Soundwave are a couple steps ahead. The humans are evolving in their control over Cybertronian invaders, which makes nobody’s plan a sure bet; but, when Optimus manages to rescue his old friend, Alpha Trion unveils ancient secrets that can no longer be long-forgotten. The past is queuing-up to overshadow the future, and now Optimus must dive deep into Cybertron’s sordid past to understand his people’s future.
After the annoyance of Dark Cybertron, this was a welcome return to form for the franchise. Very well written, plenty of subtlety (difficult when writing for giant alien shape shifting robots) and even humour. This is what the movies could have been. And Buster? Brilliant quirky addition.
Maybe 3,5? Or maybe 4, because devious!Prowl! And Prowl accepting his Constructicons harem. And Thundercracker writing screenplays. He's got a dog! And he almost has an agent!
Naturally they had to bring it back to Earth... At least that gave them a way to shoehorn a moment of "deep down we're all the same"-ness to discredit critiques of capitalism, so that's something.
Bruh, tell me why they gave Arcee a repaint just to have every single cover artists in this volume ignore it? Like I don’t blame them, I want my pink princess back.
Of the Robots in Disguise volumes this was the funniest and also the one where the characters were given the most space to be themselves. In some ways, I wasn't that fond of return to Earth and the plot conceit which leads to it, but the character tension and scheming and plotting going on made up for it. It was nice to have something less about politics in particular.
A good Transformers comic. I really liked Thundercracker and his dog Buster. This volume was a little battle heavy for my tastes. It features a return to Earth.
