But Fred’s luck takes a deadly turn when a food-delivery gig in the Vampire Sector goes wrong… leaving her with fangs, an insatiable thirst, and a kill-on-sight warrant from the ruthless vampire court. Now she must fight to control her new supernatural powers while staying one step ahead of relentless hunters—and a dangerously enthralling vampire who wants her for himself.

Can Fred harness her evolving psychic gifts, protect her beloved dog, and outrun the lethal slayers?

Brogan lives in Ireland with her husband and their eleven furry children: five furry minions of darkness (aka the cats), four hellhounds (the dogs), and two traditional unicorns (fat, hairy Irish cobs).

In 2019 she embraced her craziness by writing about the imaginary people that live in her head. Her first love is her husband followed by her number-one favourite furry child Bob the cob, then reading. When not reading or writing, she can be found knee-deep in horse poo and fur while blissfully ignoring all adult responsibilities.

So, I didn't like this one at all. I didn't DNF for two reasons:
1 - I really liked House, a secondary character.
2 - I was sitting in the ER waiting room, waiting on a friend, for like 5 hours with nothing else to do. Talk about a captive audience.

Firstly, the FMC was dumber than a box of hair. The entire book was driven by her making the dumbest possible choice in every situation. I mean, holy shit, you guys. I don't like TSTL characters, so this would have annoyed me anyway, but she did this so constantly that it was literally the driving throughline for the plot.

Secondly, the MMC was pretty useless. In hindsight, that was pretty much the case in book 1 too, but not to this extent. Basically, we've got an MMC who is a 1000 year old vampire, and generally considered a super badass. And yet he is as useful as hair on a nipple. He tells her he wants to help, to trust him to take care of things. He says this repeatedly, and yet every time, it all goes to shit. She saves HIM a couple times...this bumbling moron FMC actually saves the supposed badass. It made him basically a cardboard cutout with nice abs. He contributes nothing to the plot.

But wait, you might be wondering ... how does a bumbling moron save him? That brings us to...

Thirdly, the utterly useless main characters are constantly saved by others. I credited her as saving him, but only once - when she used her oracle powers before the trial - was that actually probably mostly her. Every other time, she's saved (or he's saved) by others taking action. Mostly by Beryl, the sentient vampire-slaying stake. Yes, that's really a thing. Beryl can possess our FMC and use her body to go all murderhobo, and does it on assassins. But Beryl doesn't even need to possess her to do it, because Beryl is all powerful: twice in the book - TWICE - she flies around by herself murdering people. Once, she takes out the first team of assassins sent to House ... and she does this while the FMC is curled up in the corner crying; the second time is the climax, where Beryl ALONE kills the villain.

Yep, you are reading that right. The villain is about to win, the MMC is about to be murdered while the FMC is mind-wiped... and deus ex stake shows up and takes out the baddie. The leads contribute not a goddamn thing to the resolution. They are 100% useless. Dumber than a bag of molded potatoes, and about as effective as one too.

For those counting, that's 3 times where a possessed weapon - Beryl the stake - saves our leads in this book. The only reason she possessed the FMC to do it once was because there were cameras, and that would be tricky to explain. Yep. She says that.

One last point of complaint: this author likes to make people be huge assholes out of nowhere for no real reason. Why was James like he was? We're never told. Why is Landry such a huge piece of shit? He was in the last book too.

So here's my dilemma. The last book in this trilogy is about House, and so I kind of want to read it. But not only am I skeptical, I also suspect that Landry (the aforementioned asshole) is the MMC. It comes out next month, and I'm really not sure. I guess we'll see how I'm feeling in late February.

Fantastic Reading

The Bitten Chronicles is a wonderful mix of adventure, romance and adventure. I enjoyed this novel so much. All the characters are so well developed and humourous as well. The dialogue was intriguing as well. Will definitely recommend to friends. Absolutely 10 stars. Can't wait until next book in series.

Wow. This book is fantastic! I absolutely adore Fred. The way she reclaims her world is uplifting. She lives her life by her own rules, which is hilarious because other people keep trying to impose their rules. Can’t wait to read the next one (and really really happy there is a next one).

Brogan Thomas’s Bitten Vampire is everything urban fantasy should be—dark, dangerous, and utterly addictive. It’s a book that takes familiar tropes—fated mates, vampire courts, underdog heroines—and twists them into something fresh.
Character Depth:
Fred is a revelation. She’s not your usual twenty-something chosen one. She’s middle-aged, burned by betrayal, fiercely independent, and more concerned about protecting her husky than impressing anyone. This makes her voice refreshing and real—her sarcasm hits just as hard as her resilience.
Plot & Pacing:
The story launches fast—Fred’s life collapses, the mysterious house offers her a new start, and within chapters, she’s thrown into the chaos of vampirism. Yet, Thomas keeps the pacing balanced. High-stakes action is always tempered by moments of emotional reckoning.
Romance & Found Family:
The slow-burn romance is tantalizing. There’s no insta-love—just stolen glances, tense banter, and the promise of something more. It simmers in the background while Fred builds alliances with unlikely companions, giving us the found family dynamic that makes the danger hit harder.
Worldbuilding:
The Vampire Sector feels gritty, dangerous, and alive. From ruthless courts to relentless hunters, the supernatural politics are layered and engaging. The sentient house is one of my favorite touches—it gives the story a gothic, whimsical edge while reinforcing the theme of “home as sanctuary.”
Themes:
At its heart, this is a book about second chances. Fred’s world ends, then begins again—this time with fangs and claws. It’s a story about survival, healing from betrayal, and finding love and belonging when you least expect it.
Takeaway:
Bitten Vampire proves that urban fantasy doesn’t have to be about perfect young heroines. It can be about women who have lived, lost, and are still willing to fight. It’s sharp, heartfelt, and packed with suspense. Fans of Ilona Andrews, Chloe Neill, and Patricia Briggs will devour this series.

DNF at 43%. Spoilers below.

I'm always puzzled by the high ratings on these kinds of books. Maybe I'm too crotchety, but this story was just a long string of 'oh, this happened! Oh, that happened!' like people around a campfire making up stories on the fly. From a developmental perspective it felt like the author was flying by the seat of their pants and just HYUCKED the first draft into the wind. I mean yes, the grammar/spelling were okay, but literally everything else about it was like bad Wattpad fic.

Also, tbh, I was just...disappointed. The book STARTED with a 40 year old protagonist coming out of an abusive relationship. The first chapter was frankly far better than I expected from the cover, so I got kinda excited.

But then Fred gets 'turned,' and she's instantly:

- immune to the sun because of her random magic house. (Note: the house also manifests entire rooms, tools, spells, blood for her to drink, cleans everything, creates wards - there's more stuff here but tbh I started glazing it over at some point it got so absurd.)
- she's psychic for some reason
- she's physically in her twenties again because lol fuck middle aged women amiright
- the focus of some random 'hot' guy who frankly doesn't get nearly enough page time to make me give a shit about him
- she is a vampire but of course has zero bloodlust, because she's sweet and demure and special and whatever idk

House in particular was a big failing of the story for me. It's just...BAD storytelling, on a fundamental level. Fred doesn't have to earn anything. Everything is handed to her on a silver platter. It turns her from an initially interesting character into something lifeless, uninteresting and coddled. I suppose there's a market out there for raw wish fulfillment narratives (and more power if that's your thing) but good GOD, what's the point if there's no struggle? Every victory a character like this has winds up having all the punch of a participation trophy, because she did nothing to earn it.

I dunno man. It was a dud for me. C'est la vie. You win some, you lose some, yadda yadda.

Interesting but not the author's usual standard

Brogan Thomas is one of my favorite authors in some ways. The quality of storylines, characters and world building are generally great. The quality of writing as a whole is elite, with few if any noticeable errors. The FMCs are generally amazing and the MMCs are almost all wonderful (John can stick suck an egg and he's not even in this series). Unfortunately her typical is the reason this book is my least favorite so far.

One big plot line in this book ignores its own facts - House did not cause Fred's transition. I will die on this hill. I will not add extensive spoilers in this review though, just trust me when I say reread the bin scene. It crops up repeatedly and no one ever questions the timing correctly, and that made me crazy.
The world building in this series is a bit light and a bit baffling. I have more questions now than I did after Lark's book.
Speaking of, the brush with Lark, while nice to revisit her, was a bit of a side quest distraction. She didn't have the same personality as the Lark in her story, even for the brief exchange, and didn't add value to Winifred's story.

As a standalone story, it's decent. Intrigue, a great antagonist resolution for the main antagonist (I'd have loved to see the downfall of Jay and his mommy), and fully likeable main characters with a bonus in dog form. I am fully invested in seeing House's story next but the world in general doesn't pull me the way the cursed series did.

Good

Winifred was a human who had faced a string of bad luck, right up until she found the wizard house, and then was turned into an illegal vampire.
Now she’s running from those who want to kill her, and accepting help from a friendly, and admittedly attractive male vampire.

Like the first book in this series, we see our forty-something heroine, having to start a new life; something that does not go at all smoothly.
Fortunately, she runs into House, the same wizard house that once also helped Lark in the previous book (we actually get a brief cameo from Lark, and there are a few other characters that might be familiar for Brogan Thomas fans). She also runs into Valdarr, who really puts her preconceived notions about Vampires to rest.
With her pet husky (destroyer/troublemaker?) Baylor by her side, Fred has a lot going on. She’s surrounded by competent people though, and has a few gifts of her own that can help.
Star of the book award goes to Beryl this time, a character that I found hilarious and rather awesome; although I am definitely dying to know what happened to House!
This is an enjoyable read for paranormal women’s fiction fans, with a clean romance, lots of action, a decent amount of magic, and some fascinating characters, all set in a slightly dystopian society.

Bitten Vampire

A fun action packed urban fantasy full of spunk, magic, and one cute but naughty husky!

This book was a fun and entertaining read! I enjoyed the high stakes and fast-paced! I also loved the fun moments and the unique magicks.

The main character; Fred was a great heroine to root for! I enjoyed her personality and how she grew into herself! She was very relatable and fun.

This book was full of awesome tropes like; urban fantasy, vampire romance, political intrigue, cute doggies, a magical house and other things, middle-aged heroine, fated mates, slow burn, no spice, found family, magic, betrayal, found family, underdog FMC, vampire prince MMC, and so much more!

Good

I have loved every book I've read from this author and this was no exception. Winifred, aka Fred was awesome. I love how her confidence grew as the book went on. Beryl was great, an awesome, snarky friend and sidekick. I like that we got to a quick little snippet of Lark from the previous book, too. I cannot wait to read the next installment with House getting her own book!

First of all, should’ve threatened to sue for wrongful termination and liable for false characterization/slander. Winifred didn’t want to continue working there at her ex’s parent’s business, but still.
Second, no man is going to send his ex invitation to their wedding when they’re not even friends. Such foolishness needs to be removed from being written in books. It’s silly. The man portrayed here, would have just forgotten about her. End of. And her going is plain asinine. Period. There is absolutely zero reason for her to attend. That is not needed to move on. It’s actually pathetic. Didn’t she have enough of pathetic staying in the relationship for 10 years? And she finds out after leaving that he had been cheating on her throughout that relationship! What should have happened was returned to sender on the unopened envelope or just not responding at all. Her ex and his mother do not need to be shown “that they didn’t break me. That I’m still standing.” They don’t need to know anything about her. She already ran into her ex’s mother in a restaurant. Winifred was picking food up from there, the retched woman saw that she was still standing and not broken. Why would Winifred think going to the wedding would clear her name from the slanderous speak of her ex’s mother? Would be a catalyst to be able to get her career back? Made zero sense.
Why was the landlord throwing her things out of a window? Over a one time damage that she would just be responsible to have to pay? She’d have to replace the door the dog chewed through. So what the dog peed on his flower pots, cleanable. And he bruised her arm, assault. The police should have been called and that’s another lawsuit for wrongful eviction, along with property damage. And why would her landlord have any pull to be keeping her from renting elsewhere, being the head of the local rental association is not it, that was just overdone. Drama for drama’s sake does not make good writing or a good story, but an annoying and eye rolling one.
Winifred, after 10 years with a POS, finally admits she should have been gone, makes the decision and leaves. She’s alone in the world, already had no family, the one supportive friend killed shortly after. She’s unlawfully fired and then unlawfully evicted from where she was living. She picks herself up both times, along with best friends Husky after friend’s death (dog being reason for unlawful eviction). She finds a “wizards” house, a sentient house that makes sure she finds it and it’s good. Then she fails to exercise good judgment and takes delivery jobs in the vampire sector twice more after her first mistaken acceptance of a delivery order in that sector and pays the price on her third, and what was supposed to be her final time of accepting such jobs, and third time’s the bad charm. She turns her back on the creepy one at the door instead of backing up and she gets snatched, bitten and drank from. Later she wakes in the on property garbage bin and comes to realize why she was seeing the commercial sized garbage bins on private homes properties in the sector. She managed to escape from there, get back to the human sector, and back to the sentient house, who takes care of her.
Winifred is trying to once again adjust, hasn’t learned from prior dumb decision and makes another dumb decision choice the very first venture out. Why did she have to do the TSTL? I lose all sympathy for her and what happens to her she brought on. Sigh. I was liking her well enough until now. And she continued the dumb decisions by going to her ex POS’s wedding. ON HER BIRTHDAY! And she doesn’t realize that she was stupid for going until after she’s already there?! What in the ridiculous foolishness? And does she leave after this realization? No, she goes on in and sits in the back. WHY DID SHE HAVE TO CONTINUE TO BE A FOOL! Tomfoolery occurs after the ceremony when she finally gets smart and starts to leave. Intervention occurs in said tomfoolery. Yas for that!
Thankfully, things got better after the whole wedding foolishness. I found the story, engaging and good after that, and enjoyed the read. Winifred’s encounter with Valdarr on her second visit, I knew who he was. Valdarr’s ring was giving Vampire Diaries though. Lots goes on, Winifred comes into her own and I returned to liking Winifred. Some nasty business gets handled so satisfyingly. The bonus chapters of Valdarr’s POV were great, answered a few questions. Story was written well. I teetered between 3 1/2 to 4 stars, after the wedding mess, so went on and gave it four. I liked this second book better than the first.

Dear heavens! OMG OMG OMG! My sucker punching Queen is in full force! Ms Thomas sure knows how to deliver a blow! Her words, her prose, she cuts through like a knife, I'm raw, limp, horrified and angry, all at the same time. No easing, just straight in, right from the onset! Abused women come in many guises, it's not only the physical abuse that's visible, it's the invisible abuse that erodes, undermines and destroys. Which is exactly what happened to Winifred...heck did I want to inflict grievous bodily harm on Jay!!! And here's the thing, Brogan doesn't sugar coat it, she presents it realistically, as it is, as horrific as it is, it's gutsy truth.

In a world where each "species" has their own sector, Winfred, being human, lives in the human sector, avoiding all the dangers of the vampire or shifter sectors, so it's very limiting where she can actually live. She gathers her tattered life and leaves the asshat and I'm cheering her on, rooting for her. But... yeah, she goes from bad situation to worse situation. An over anxious, "inherited" dog worse. He's a destroyer, not of worlds but of anything in his path, and now she's homeless. Her despair is so real, I taste it on my tongue. A stroke of luck, or magic, and she's suddenly got a place to stay. In a sentient house of all places but it's accommodating, warm, so no brainer. Only thing that mars her newfound situation is the asshat's influential family spewing lies and slander, limiting her work choices. A delivery person is what she becomes and, through an error, finds herself delivering IN the no go area, the vamp section, where she finds herself face to face with a gorgeous hunk of a vamp. So what does she do? She returns...To disastrous consequences. And just as suddenly, she becomes something new, something different, thanks, in part, by the help of her "friend" the sentient house. And she just keeps... evolving...And, most spectacular of all, once she finds the fire within her, NOTHING and NO-ONE can smother it.

Oh do I adore Fred! She has come so far from the unsecure young woman she was, she's still very uncertain make no mistake, but when you have the cutest, albeit VERY destructive dog as your friend, a house that caters to all your needs, a house that becomes a firm friend, watching your back, helping you, introducing you to... Beryl, who's a tad, ummm, blood thirsty, what more could one ask for? Brogan tapped into every emotion impeccably, exquisitely vibrant and real and heck, I loved how much realism Brogan wove into this tale. I love how tenderly she handled Fred's situation, lovingly drawing out all the positives and squashing the negatives with panache.

Valdarr might be an ancient vampire but, unlike his vile father, he's honourable, dedicated to doing right, which involves putting Fred first, especially when he gets struck by something he thought was lore. He is instrumental in helping Fred realise she IS worthy, she IS special, she IS someone. As he says so succinctly, "You, Winifred Crowsdale are perfection. My sunshine in the dark". Gosh did I love how the author moulded him into such a superb character, actually, EVERY character this esteemed author crafts, is infused with the "Brogan touch", you'll understand once you've read this book, or any of her books. It boggles my mind, but THIS author gives me characters I cheer for, characters I willingly embrace as part of my family, characters I feel with every ioto of my being, all while immersing me in a plot that's rich in political jostling, mystery and OMG drama personified!

Golly, there's so much to unpack in this book! Without a question of a doubt, Brogan IS the queen of emotions. The events leading up to this spectacular tale, play out like a Shakespeare tragedy, full of emotions, full of anguish, full of despair. Ms Thomas' superb penmanship conveying this all as though she's etching it on my very soul, intense, dramatic, tense and extremely vivid. But first and foremost, this is a story of rebirth, in more ways than one, a story of personal growth. Of trust and acceptance. Of a love manifesting in a surprising, beautiful, unexpected way. Of conviction that even the downtrodden can rise beyond what one thinks is possible, the unimaginable becomes possible. I guess it's easy to tell, I LOVED EVERY SECOND OF THIS BOOK!

Winifred (Fred) has been with her boyfriend for 10 years. She finally gets the courage to say she wants marriage, or she's gone and mean it. But of course, her life goes to heck due to her ex and his family. Then she is kicked out of her new apartment with nowhere to go when she finds a magical house that is perfect for her and her new dog. When she gets a delivery job in the vampire sector, she gets a little too curious and ends up a little less alive. With new powers that she can't ignore, she sets out to save innocent people from losing their lives, but puts herself in the crosshairs of a very old and very powerful vampire who doesn't like making mistakes.
Fred is a woman in her 40's and I love that this author writes more mature women (definitely not "older" since I am in that category) in her books. Fred has been with her now ex, Jay, and just kind of drifted along. She's allowed herself to be placated with small gestures in order to feel safe in this world where humans are easy prey. But once she leaves, she realizes how terrible her ex and his family are. But she keeps her chin up and keeps going. She never lets things get her too down and believes she will make things better for herself, even after her landlord muddies her name. She will do the right thing even if will kill her.
Valdarr is also an ancient vampire, but unlike Fred's would be assassin, he is not blood thirsty and inherently evil. While he may seem to be a good "child", we learn more about what goes on between them the farther you read in the book. I was excited to have the wizard house featured in this book after the last one. And we actually get to talk to House as well! We also get to see Lander again as well and I have a sneaking suspicion we will see him in one more book! And omg the unsung hero in this book is Beryl for sure! I absolutely cannot say enough how much I loved Beryl. That was the "sidekick" I never knew I needed.
Every time I read one of Brogan's books, I am so completely immersed I find I read the entire book before I even realize I'm at the end. This book is no different. Her world building is exceptional, and she does an amazing job of really making you feel for her characters. Every book she writes is so full of emotions. There is also plenty of magical battles and high stakes (pun intended) action to keep you glued to the pages of this book. I'm already super excited for the next boo in this series!

I adore Brogan Thomas, she always sends you on such a rollercoaster, and this one was no exception, yet I was pleased that this one didn't rip out my heart and stomp on it. The romance was slow and gradual, and I was so there for it. I cheered nonstop through this book. There were scenes of tension and fighting, yet somehow this book became an absolute reading pleasure. It was just what I needed because though the tension was great, I knew I was in a safe pair of hands with Brogan, and I knew I could just relax and enjoy the story. And I really, really did.

What can you expect from this story? Well, there's a sentient house (my all-time favourite trope!), a chewy husky pup to love, and a woman who goes from emotional-rags to emotional-riches. There is also a very satisfactory romance, with a low spice rating.

As always with Brogan, one of the pleasures that comes from reading is watching a downtrodden woman shake off the shackles of oppression from an unsupportive partner – and society – to rise above it all, like a phoenix rising from the flames. That transformative journey from underdog to a woman of poise and strength, gets me every single time.

You shouldn't hesitate to pick up this book, which can be read as a standalone, or can be enjoyed as part of the rest of the glorious world Brogan has created. She's an auto-buy author for me, and I have no hesitation in recommending this book to you.

Oh my! What a wonderful book!
Winifred (Fred) is having a bad time. After breaking up with her sleazeball boyfriend of ten years, she has a hard time finding work (his mother blackballed her) and when she does find a place to live, her rescue husky chews through her apartment door, she’s on the street again.
Finding a magical house that accepts both her and her dog is a lifesaver. This is the wizard house from the Bitten Shifter book.
Now working as a food delivery driver, she ends up in the Vampire area and although it is not the safest area, makes a couple of deliveries. On the third delivery she is bitten and left in a dumpster.
Now the fun begins, the magical house gets involved, and Fred’s life is completely changed.
This book has such amazing characters. Fred goes from a wimp in her relationship to a brave, independent woman. Her dog starts to behave. The main vampire Valdarr is absolutely amazing, the sentient house provides a sentient stake. And it just gets better with each word.
There is action, surprises, suspense, romance and humour. What more could you want.
This is a quick, easy, enjoyable read.
I love everything she writes and am always waiting impatiently for the next book.

This pulled me in from the beginning. I love Winifred. She lives in a world where each supernatural breed has their own sector to live in. She lives in the human one. When she finds a dog and takes him in, he destroys her home and she is kicked out and banned from other homes in the area. She finds a magical house to rent that is perfect for her. When her ex’s family spread lies about her, she ends up having to take the only job she can find as a delivery driver. One delivery takes her to the vamp sector, and she is turned when she gets to curious. VALDARR is an honorable ancient vamp and when he meets Fred, sparks fly. He will do anything for her.

I really loved everything about this book. The main characters were relatable and you can’t help to like them with the exception of Jay and his family. The world building was excellent and I love how she pulled elements and characters from the first book into this one. It is a standalone, but I definitely recommend reading book one as both are so good! Highly recommend.

What an excellent standalone book to this series! Winifred is a woman that thought she had hit rock bottom, but just when her life was starting to look up and a friend, she discovered another whole new bottom. I loved the snark of Fred and the love she had for the dog she adopted. I also loved that whenever something happened her, her first thought was to turn to a podcast for information. Her wit and humor were just delightful and given equal measure to her sass.

The author, as always, did an amazing job creating a world and a story of a baby bitten vampire in a new world that is complex and completely believable. Throw in the hottie, the disbelieving clan, a woman who begins to know her own worth again, and we now have the making of a great story. I also truly loved House and her personality really shinning in this book. I'm fascinated to know where book 3 lands us.

"Besides, I always wanted to be special—here I am."

So I have to read this author’s back list now 😅

I loved this so much. When it says standalone, it really is. Yes they’re in the same world and there is some interconnections made but I didn’t find myself wishing I’d read book one because things were getting too spoiled for me.

I love that the FMC goes by Fred. I’m all for masculine names for women. I really enjoy a second chance at life trope and I thought this one was done really well. The doubts and costs she had about leaving were very relatable. Her having stayed in an terrible relationship for so long is unfortunately a truth for many so I was glad to see her find something better and not be so broken down.
Do not get me started on Valdarr 😍 The first encounter definitely wasn’t the best but every time after I was just as taken as she was. I forever will be teaching the difference between owning and honoring. I mean it also could have been the art that was in the book 🤭I look forward to the next in this series.

Yummy Vampires & evil awful ones too!! Winifred "Fred" Crowsdale is dumped by her narcissistic boyfriend for a new girl after 10 years. Trying to make a living for herself and her frisky husky puppy, Baylor is hard, and becomes nearly impossible when he chews a hole in her apartment door. Her landlord kicks her out and blacklists her with all rentals in the area. A room-for-rent ad leads her to a Magical House that offers her refuge, but the only job she can get is food delivery. One day, while delivering in the Vampire Sector, she is Bitten, mauled by a vampire in the middle of the day, and left for dead! Somehow, she makes it back to House, who comforts and heals her. Now Fred is Other, though, and her life will never be the same. A gorgeous golden-boy Vampire, Valdarr, protects her, offering a place in his clan. Can Winifred escape the Vampire Slayers who sense her Otherness? Can she master her extra magics and protect her puppy? I loved this 2nd book in the Bitten series!! 5 Stars!

Bitten Vampire Absolutely LOVED IT! Fred, House, Baylor and Beryl are amazing!!! However, House is just wow so many questions??!!! and I really hope in Bitten by Magic we get them and Fred finds her because I think House is really gonna need the favor this time around. Baylor is one giant floofy bundle of love I too loves me a few huskies lol so I know the Orin’s and boys lol 😂. The slow burn romance between Fred and Valdarr is perfect the pacing is excellent and the feelings develop slowly over time and it’s a wonderful thing to be able to enjoy it. There are endless reasons why I love this book Brogan has a beautiful talent for bringing stories to life in the most unexpected ways. Pure magic and I devoured every page! Another slam dunk for sure! This book was as fantastic as all the rest! Full of magic, hyjink and unexpected deep bonds of friendship loyalty and love! Full of surprises and all the awesome sauce all the way around I can hardy wait for Bitten Magic!!!!

I did not finish this book. The first few chapters were difficult to read. Her boyfriend of 10 years has been cheating and refuses to marry her. She gets fired because his parents own the company. She gets evicted because her murdered friend's dog caused damage to her apartment

When she moves into the magical wizard house, the story became more interesting. The house cooks for her, cleans, and washes her laundry. It magically fills in the holes her dog digs in the yard.

My problem is I felt like she kept making dumb decisions. Everyone knows the vampire section of town is dangerous. But she keeps going there to make deliveries. She gets attacked and wakes up in the garbage. She goes to her magic house who manages to keep her human during the day, but a vampire at night.

2 months later, the House warns her it is dangerous outside. So she goes running and crosses the boundary of vampire Town. They see her and start chasing her.

I stopped reading at this point.

This one took quite a while to get into. Almost the first 30% was either totally demeaning to the fmc, Winifred/Fred, or she was borderline TSTL. There were at least 3 times that just made no sense - none. On the flip side, the House was great, after a bit so was the dog, and a couple secondary characters were ok. This had a bit of magic in it as well as the vampire twist. However, despite the title and supposed focus, very little was vampiric about this. One scene early that set the stage for the book, some compulsion, and a bit about blood or donors but nothing much. Lark from the Bitten Wolf book made a brief appearance but didn't really jive with her character from that book. I liked Val (love interest) ok. It's nice for the guy to be the one pledging faith. Since I enjoyed House so much, I'll probably read book 3.

I always enjoy the characters Brogan Thomas creates, and Fred is no exception! She is sweet, feisty and there is so much more to her than she believes. It's fun watching her find her sass.

This book is set in the same world as Bitten Shifter, but is a standalone. There is some world building overlap (and a magical house that appears in both), so I do recommend starting with Bitten Shifter, you'll enjoy Lark's story too.

Bitten Vampire has a few slow moments, but for the most part, it is a quick read, full of fun, quirky people and pets. I love Fred's interactions with house. The romance is a bit light, but I really appreciate how Thomas approaches fated mates. There may be an instant connection, but it's not instalove, the characters take time to get to know each other.

I think anyone who likes urban/paranormal books will love these!

Fantastic!

Bitten Vampire is a stand alone (hurray!). I'm a big fan of vampires and urban fantasy and this book did not disappoint. Winifred starts out as an almost timid, unassuming woman hoping to marry her live in partner. Luckily, the ass refuses to marry her and she moves out. As she faces challenges with employment, housing, and unexpectedly becoming a vampire, she develops a spine!

Along with her change, "Fred" discovers she has acquired a talent for seeing the future, and attracted the attention of the vampire "
Heir"-- who is an absolute hunk! He claims she is his fated mate. Fred finds herself living in a sentient house and surrounded by danger.

This book is action packed and sweetly romantic as the Heir attempts to protect and woo Winnifred . if you like this genre, you'll love this book. I highly recommend it.

This series just keeps getting better!

28th August has been special this year. Not only am I off work for a week BUT an abundance of new books by well loved authors have been released.

Brogan Thomas is one of them and has been a fave for a long while. Bitten Vampire coming out has been long awaited after reading Bitten Shifter.

I was not disappointed. Fred (Winifred) is different to our usual FMCs. No fighting skills, not a fan of blood and gore and don't ask about Beryl...

She is, however, a compelling character and to see her grow through all her trials and the friends (and yummy vampires) she meets along the way has been a gorgeous read. Happy happy happy and now may have to reread Bitten Shifter!!

love requires sacrifice

This is so good OMG, the mystery, the magical house, the love and the soul binding love is amazing. I mean this whole story just couldn’t be put down and if it wasn’t for sleep I totally would have spent all night reading.

So a human hating all supernaturals and being given the boot by her jerk boyfriend. She loses everything, then she becomes a delivery driver because the boyfriend’s family took her professional life away. I mean really how low is that. She gets a cool magical house while all of this is happening and they become friends.

While doing a delivery she meets tall dark and delicious. Read the story to know how that works out.you will not be disappointed

Love love love having the flair of a romance read, but with all the exciting feels of a vampire read. Bonus points for adult characters 🙌🏻 You get a 40 year old FMC who leaves a ten year relationship with and ends up in some unfortunate situations, but finds her own strength and her own HEA. The main characters are perfection. The side characters are wonderful. I now even have favorite characters that are sentient objects 😅 This is a fun read and everything a vampire era reader loves.

Read it at work too

So I try, sometimes, to actually work at work. I mean seems fair right? I work they pay me. Today I skirted the line for this book and I do not regret my choices. I also woke up at 3 am to read for a couple of hours before work. So I would say I was sucked into this story and I was not leaving until it was over. Dinner was a little late too so I could get this review in but no one was starving really, at least I don’t think they were because I could hear them crunching on chips like voracious rodents. Any way Read The Book! Anxiously awaiting the NEXT book!! So good!!

Another wonderful story, though I thought it was a bit more serious than the first one. I loved learning more about House and I loved how House and Fred developed a real friendship. Baylor offered some levity, but I'm pretty sure my favorite character from this story was actually Beryl! I won't go into details since that would give some of the story away. Suffice it to say that I would love to learn more about Beryl's past. I do believe we are going to get to know House much better in the next book, but maybe Beryl will get more story as well? We'll see. So far, I'm really enjoying this series and can't wait for the next installment.

I found my attention caught from the very first page, and the excitement and action stayed through the whole book. What a story! House is back, Baylor is a hoot, and Fred (Winifred) and Valdarr are great enjoyable characters. Even the villains are fun to hate.
As an added bonus there are 3 scenes at the end of the book…scenes that were originally from Fred’s point of view but now written from Valdarr’s point of view. And a happy ending and tiny glimpse into the subject of the next book. Simply wonderful!
