In the picturesque town of Dasher, the air is charged with grief as Achille, the oldest brother, faces the heartbreaking loss of his father, the patriarch of the Armstrong family. With their ancestral land at stake, the brothers must confront the devastating consequences of a bad deal made by their father, which now threatens to strip them of their heritage.
As Achille navigates his sorrow, he uncovers buried family secrets that reveal the true nature of the deal and the adversaries lurking in the shadows, eager to take advantage of their vulnerability. Determined to save their family legacy, Achille rallies his younger brothers for a journey that will test their bonds and reveal the strength of their unity.
I loved that the Armstrong men protected their family, and farm, while not backing down from all the wrongdoings going on around town. Looking forward to seeing how they handle Freeman and the mayor.
Come on Miss Hattie with the comic relief. 🤣 I worry for Ayden. His brothers seem to have just left him out in the cold, knowing that he has issues. I hope he doesn't harm himself or anyone else attention seeking. Great introduction to the series.
I don’t even know… but I didn’t love it. This was just a bunch of stuff happening with no real direction. The idea of the synopsis, the brothers fighting to keep their land and finding out family secrets sounded good but.. that didn’t seem to be the main plot or focus… those parts actually felt rushed & incomplete. The ending was .. abrupt.
I was Blessed to be chosen to do an ARC read on this and it was so hard holding my tongue because this book and introduction into this family and these brothers was all that. Imagine four brothers who are all the apple of their loving mother’s eyes. Secrets from their recently deceased father threatens the family legacy from the grave. Achille is the oldest and although they stand and fight together, he takes on most of the burden while trying to keep everyone level headed and calm. While doing this, can he find the time and headspace for Love? Let’s journey book one to see. Great read Ladies!!
A charming Black Cowboy who knows how to court, sign me up
This story follows the Armstrong family as they find love and fight for their land. Sometime the stubborn FMC just needs a real man to shack things up.
I enjoyed this book as the start to a series that has the potential to be very good. I loved Achille and his protective nature for his family and land.
All I have to say I need me a COWBOY!!! So can I start off with by saying I had an entire review and it disappeared! So let’s get to it as I don’t remember have of what I wrote - ugh.
First let mention how people are wronged and lose everything they work hard for by those that have the law in their back pocket and the ability to get what they want. But not when it comes to the ARMSTRONG family. Starting with Mrs. Benita! This woman was strong. Dealing with her cheating, mental abusing husband and accepting and raising a child that wasn’t her but treated him like he was. What got me was when things changed and Achille Sr pass on, she was addressed with a threat of losing the family land, but she had a trick up her sleeve for them all and I’m here for it! The way Papa Armstrong knew his son wasn’t going to handle business regarding the family land and did what he needed to do in order to protect - pass it down to those that knew how to handle business. What a rude awakening that about to happen!
Can we talk about all of them names start with the letter “A” - Achille, Acosta, Ayken, Ayden, Aria! One thing I did notice was that cowboys have no filters - lol! They truly spoke what they feel and there was no sugarcoating anything! They spoke what they felt at that moment!
But can talk about that Achille! This man here! Listen he did not play about his family at all. Even though he had a lil push he definitely went after what he wanted - Mrs. Delilah! However can we mention what he started to her in one part of this read ““Delilah Rene Stroud, can I have you?” “Can I partake in you?”“I can smell her.”“Can I find out if the juices that seep from you are as sweet as your spirit?” It was more to it but you know! I wasn’t ready - lol! Let’s not forget the way this man was coming beHIND his mother and siblings. He played no games.
So again there is so much I can talk about and there was so much I had previous stated and can’t remember, so it will have to wait until Part 2 - lol!!!
This book was ok. It left much to be desired. There wasn't enough description as far as the characters, so it made it kind of hard to envision them. The relationship with the main character was very rushed. He didn't seem interested in her at all, then three pages later, they were on a date, screwing, and seeing a future together.... 🙄. Very rushed. Like, don't give me a slow burn, but give me something to chew on to keep me coming back for more. It was a short book, but it took me like 4 days to read because it wasn't interesting like I needed it to be. I was invested and wanted to see it through, only to be disappointed in the end. I liked the back story with his mother and everything with the farm. I'm going to give this series another shot. There is a lot of potential here, and hopefully, the rest of the brothers' stories are not rushed and written with a little more detail.
This was my first read by this author and I absolutely LOVED it! The story follows Achille, an educated cowboy who returns home to his family’s farm after college, full of ideas to grow and modernize their operation. His dynamic with his father felt so real—very much like how our generation often tries to introduce new ways to our parents, only to be met with resistance because “the old way works.”
I especially enjoyed the strong bond between the brothers and the accountability they held each other to. The romance between Achille and the granddaughter of one of his favorite catering companies was sweet, spicy, and beautifully developed.
The book had just the right balance of heart, drama, and heat. A lighthearted yet meaningful read that kept me hooked from start to finish. I’ll definitely be diving deeper into this author’s catalog!
Whew baby Achille didn't come to play and Ms. Hattie was a mess pushing him and Delilah together, but it worked. As the intro to what I'm assuming will be a series I can say I'm invested. There was small town rilvary, intrigue, suspense, and definitely romance. Mama Armstrong was one strong woman. It takes a woman of real character to stay married to a philandering degenerate that treated her like a maid. I'm glad that Papa Armstrong realized just who his son was and had the foresight to protect their family legacy, because had he not, Freeman would have stolen it like he'd done to so many others. I'm on pins and needles for what's next.
This was such a cute story! But ummm the way it ended…I know there HAS to be more 👀 I see Sable Ridge Series so I breathed a sigh of relief because I need more of these characters and this story.
I loved how Achilles is so family oriented, he does not play about his family. None of the brothers do and I love that. I love that they all came together to focus on preserving legacy.
I also loved how this was not a broken family or struggle love story. Even though circumstances were a recipe from a broken family, that was not their story. The love story was sweet (and spicy) and natural.
I love a book with a strong black family unit, and the Armstrong family is just that. The patriarch of the family passed away and left his family in a shitty situation due to his habit and negligence, but with the sons and Mrs.Armstrong sticking together ain't nothing they can't handle. All 3 sons were something else, but Achille....whew. The budding love between he and Delilah almost overshadowed everything else that the book is about. Aside from that, enjoyed this book, and I would love to see where all of the brothers lives in Sable Ridge go from here.
This was actually fairly boring to me, nothing unique about it no real stand out characters. The book wasn’t bad and I’m sure people would enjoy it but I’ve read my fair share of small town cowboy romance and the is one just didn’t stand out. I just felt like no one was really that interesting, everything came together how it should but getting there was like a very slow paced evolution. I wish we had gotten more drama with the freeman’s, or maybe used this book as the intro to them all where we could get a feel of who they are as people. Like Idk this just didn’t hit to me.
If you love fast paced love stories with a whole lot of family drama, then this book is for you!! I loved every second of this book, the Armstrong brothers and the sacrifices their mother made for them is simply amazing!
Plus watching Achille and Delilah love story grow with the help of her Nana, who is a piece of work but you can’t do nothing but love her. Plus seeing the beginning of Ayken and Asonta’s love story, makes this book everything you want in a book and so much more!!!
This was a fun and sexy read! Intelligent and charming banter between the MCs is always a win for me. Achille and Delilah's chemistry was so strong that they had me all giggly and blushing for them like a school girl. Now add in the drama from Achille's no good father that grew and festered over the years, and then the ultimate insanity he left them to deal with after his death. Mrs. Bernita was definitely a strong woman and devoted to those children and protecting their family legacy, even if she had to sacrifice and suffer.
If youve ever read a book where you had to question what time you were in...its this one. It seemed so modern and then it seemed so old. At one point i was like do they even have cell phones. I think the first phone popped up at the end of the story when Ayken exchanged numbers with whoever the girl was. The use of Boy in this story made me cringe. it was just so much of it. I loved how Mrs. Hattie practically shoved Delilah into Achille's arms and vice versa. The attraction was there and i loved it.

Hmmm, “Achille: The Armstrong Bros - Sable Ridge Series - Book 1” was confusing🫤, hence only a mediocre review (3.75 ⭐️’s.). In an ideal fictional scenario, characters & or plot development would have already been established. Unfortunately, determining who’s responsible for what & why an adult sibling was so darn bitter, toxic and angry. The quandary& identity crisis continues 🥴🤦🏾♀️‼️
I wouldn’t classify this as a romance because half of the book is dedicated to the land problems and the FMC is completely missing from those chapters. Honestly, it’s like two different books and the two aspects aren’t blended together.
You’re introduced to about a dozen people plus half a dozen animals in the first 10 or so pages. Then you suddenly get a disappointing spicy scene. I guess the best way to describe the book is it lack cohesiveness.
YEASSS!!! I truly enjoyed this read. I'll be glad when the other Armstrong men come out. If I could have jumped through the phone to get at Mr. Freeman and the mayor's throats, I would have. Thank you for not making us country people talk illiterate. I love me a cowboy and baby, these Armstrong men, just maybe one of my favorite families.
I loved Ms . Hattie she is a true southern grandma. The book started off kind of slow for me, but then it became so much better. I loved the Armstrong family, I am looking forward to each and everyone of their stories.
Definitely a page-turner. Bernita was such a strong woman. She put up with a lot to keep her family together. Senior was really a piece of work. Having the book take place on a farm was a welcome change of pace.
This was a good fast pace read inn no live the character’s an how each persons story line was set up…the drama with the Freeman’s seems it will be ongoing…..on to next book
First time reading this author. Loved the storyline. Loved the chemistry between Achille and Delilah. The brotherly bond was strong. Mama was amazing. Delilah grandmother had ne in stitches. Great read!
I didn’t enjoy the story and the whole structure felt like something was missing. It was almost like putting characters and a general theme into an ai prompt and telling it to write a story. There was no clear direction and the characters had no depth.
A nice quick read. Good intro into the series. Looking forward to reading more about the characters and their romantic partners. Love the fiesty elders.
What a good book it flowed very well it was a real page turner it kept me interested the whole book I highly recommend this book it was error free book I give this book 5 pens
