This novel is dedicated to the loving memory of King's older sister, Rhea Lansdown.
King says that while the novel was inspired by his own experience growing up with a sister who was born with a rare heart defect, the book mostly aims to capture the unending love between siblings, and has the added suspense of realistic ghosts that haunt the mind of a successful heart surgeon.
Man! I am sooooo happy to have my blog back! Whoa-boy! What a crap-tastic week!
I fell in love with the idea of Dead Heart as soon as I saw the cover and read the blurb. I was like, “This has GOT to be a great book!”
I was a bit disappointed in the first chapter. It took me a bit to get a feel for the dialogue. It was stiff and at the same time loose. I don’t know if it was the fact that Mr. King was struggling to find the voice of the book, or his writing feet or what. I thought I was going to have to put it aside.
But it was a VERY frustrating week and what’s the best way to get through that? Read a book. So I continued.
I’m glad I did. After about chapter 3 or 4, Mr. King really found his feet. The plot took off and it was dark and twisted and lovely. This was exactly what my little stone cold heart needed. It was a delicious tale of horror.
R.L. King pens "Dead Heart" a well thought out horror story with strong and interesting characters. With a well thought out plot, it kept me sitting at the edge of my seat. At 316+/- pages, I found it to be a fairly quick read, probably because I couldn't put the book down. Highly recommended for all horror. pararnormal, thriller fans.
