This story could have been good, but it escalated so fast. It left so many questions. Why was Cat rude to her then flipped the switch and they became friends? Cat should have been interested in Tyler or Aaron and jealousy would have caused her to view Dani as a threat. She was already talking to Tyler at the party…it would have been more climatic and interesting. The whole detective thing was so random and resolved in like two chapters…huh?!? You could tell both Tyler and Aaron liked Dani, but there was no substance to who or how Dani liked either of them. I also think Tyler and Aaron should have hashed it out on the ice and been forced to tell each other they wanted Dani. They should have fought over her. Again, more interesting. Also…what ever happened with Tyler’s charity? Dani was supposed to help do something, Jenna was supposed to start baking for it, but it was never mentioned again. Which also brings up the point of Jenna and Tyler…there was no lead up. Jenna baking for the charity would have been a good Segway into that ending. It just looks like Tyler chose second best.

Instead, cacophony, raucous, and the same description of seeing your breath in the cold were repeated over and over and over.

This doesn’t pull any weight, but the cover doesn’t match the story either. It looked like a historical romance book.

The idea for the book was good, but there were too many unanswered questions.

This book was all over the place. At first it seemed like a cute and promising story: A girl who starts her new job as an analytical coach for a hockey team meets 2 guys who seem both nice and charming. One would think that the story focuses on that.
But it’s not.

—— Some minor spoiler ahead ———

Sometimes the story is about the team, but not enough that you feel the team spirit or really get into the team’s necessity to win.
Then the story mentions her dad and a spontaneous visit to him which seemed utterly unnecessary.
On top of that Dani befriends Cat the reporter and becomes sort of a detective all of a sudden. The rest of the story seems to be forgotten in those chapters.
She has a roommate, Jenna, who is there and at the same time isn’t. She is mentioned a lot but has no depth at all - the only thing we know about her is that she bakes and makes hot chocolates for people - that as a reader you are questioning why she is even part of the story. But she still gets a super weird and unexpected happy ending even though it was never talked about she was even interested in anyone!

In the end all the characters seem to have no real depth which makes it difficult to feel anything with or for them or to make the story likeable and understandable.
Disappointing.

it was a hockey story … and it was great

Didn’t know from the cover, what I got into, I was almost confused since I had just finished a hockey romance that day. So many things were accomplished in a sweet way. Dani keeps her dream job. The Falcons are becoming a better semi-pro team and Jenna got herself more people to bake for and a guy at the end although I’m not sure if it was crumbs. But to me the most important part was keeping fairness in the junior hockey leagues.

I did not like this one. It had love triangle and to little development between the characters. It felt easy and bad. The plot felt loose and to simple. And when it was an love triangle it showed both the men’s perspective and I hated that cause then it felt like both are getting the girl😣

I hated the love triangle. It was between Aaron and Tyler. And Aaron got the girl. But I rooted for Tyler though cause I liked his grumpiness.
But I also had hoped for a reverse harem but no.

Wow! An amazing read with statistical and analytical moves by hockey players. That sounds too complicated, but the book has well developed characters and a very interesting story line. I really enjoyed reading this book.

worth looking at the 2nd book

It was a good read. The ending felt rushed but I often find authors improve with each book in a series. I would definitely give book 2 a chance.
