Returning from his time in the cities’ militia, Ajax comes to find out his village was destroyed and his mentor was injured due to the whims of a spoiled noble. He knows there is nothing that can be done, as he is now, but luckily for him a dungeon nearby offers the perfect opportunity to train before heading to the Capital.

But once he gets there what will he find? A way to heal his mentor? Support to grow even stronger? Nobles who want to use him for their own ends? Maybe all of the above.

Same as the last one, more slice-of-life than anything else, but lacking any real direction. I'm two books into the series, and I could not tell you what the point of the story is about. The entire thing is just about how many numbers the MC can increase, that's it.

Far worse than the first book.

There is a whole bunch of explaining and pondering done by the main character. It makes for a more boring read.

"I've outgrown this city, and need to go to the capital"... no you haven't. He's in dungeons with enemies that are still far higher level. He can choose to solo enemies while traveling with his group. He's not strong enough to fight lizards yet. It makes no sense. It is just a contrived plot idea for him to go to the capital so that he is around stronger people again.

The MC is now suddenly not worried about exposing his skills. Fighting the Captain in public and using his magic. Doesn't make much sense.

I'm 78% in... and nothing interesting has happened. Is anything going to happen? Does this book have a plot? Is it really just a boring narration of a guy very slowly leveling up?

Not a bad book, but it could definitely use an editor's hand.

Hard to say where I put this. In some ways it interesting, in others its boring. I always love fantasy for the journey.

The constant side character views really slow down the progression of the novel. Just everyone talking about how awesome ajax is, we don't really learn much about them or their personalities. Theres a lot of stats brought up which isn't a huge deal because you can skip over it, but it's a bit much of the novel.

There's a lot of spelling errors, and poor grammar choices that leave me thinking, "The book hasn't been edited". Honestly, it can be distracting at times.

The book often reads, like this "I went here, I did that. I went here I did that. Six weeks later...". The journey, the world exploration was seriously lacking.

I also tried the audiobook version, and it was appalling. The female voice actor kept making a single sentence into 5. Like someone inserted periods between almost every word. Not to mention all the females sound the same.

I'd probably rate this closer to 2.5/5, it honestly needs someone to review it and make edits. It has a lot of glaring holes. It's whole interesting part is that, ajax is actually an interesting guy. I'm curious as to what he'll do next.

in my opinion a big jump forward from the first.

It is an Isekai with an op hero, but it avoids many of the first books issues, and the readability and errors with grammar and synonyms has gone way down. Gotta say, mc’s arrival at the capital turned the story to 11. MC is negotiating interactions with the extremely wealthy and nobility, still solving a few problems with ultra violence. You can easily tell from the first book that the author might be dealing with English as a second language, but there is a fairly dramatic progression from the first book to the second, if it involved editing it might be A good idea to rewrite the first one, I was on the edge of dropping the story, and I am glad that I did not.

Author has managed to zip the mc into a completely different progression trope by the end of the book with what I would have to describe as style and panache, I am shocked myself. It is very hard to hint at upcoming story elements in a way that the reader looks forward to them, but when the story gets there it is still as good as you hoped, the author does this a dozen times throughout the story. You are left craving the next book rather badly.

Just more annoying errors. Blatant ones are extra annoying. Immersion and enjoyment murdering.

Just bloody mindbogglingly awful when an author switches personalities between characters from one book to the other. In this one two prominently featured female characters from book one get swapped.
Its especially bad since the personalities now clash with their backgrounds.

There are acceptable and unacceptable levels of errors and people can make up their own minds of where they draw the line. For me though this is far and away over the line and in a Galaxy, possibly Universe, far to freaking out of bounds.

This author has hit the nail straight on the head

Outstanding visualization with a solid foundation thought provoking imaginative meets the requirements for thinking outstanding the box world building is spot on the interactions between the characters are solid everything about this novel pulls the reader in keeps them on the edge of their seat as it should be I wish more authors would take the time that this one does for high quality writing it's obvious this author will not hurry his project of whatever novel or project he is writing on

well done story. If you don’t like changing POV, you will not like this book.

A really well done, well written book. The only issue I truly have with this book is the continuous change of point of view. As a reader, it throws me off of the story because I have to remember who’s speaking and why. Besides that I love the MC I love his power progression. I just can’t get used to the change of POV’s, that’s my main issue with this story and is why I give it for instead of five stars.

Good but that ending was terrible

I liked the book and its continued story. The ending was terrible though. After the length of the first book, this one felt much shorter. Then it just… ends abruptly with no indication of a wrapped up event or anything. You get a short “classes begins tomorrow” and then the end. Not even a paragraph to adjust the reader to the end of the book just pure cliff, Keleros really need to hire a good editor to help with his pacing and conclusion arcs.

The verb tense issue was slightly better in this one if only because I think it managed to stay in 3rd person the entire time. that being said, the book definitely needs editing as the past tense used jumped around throughout and it was distracting. additionally, this was a close third perspective that frequently flitted around to other characters for a sentance or three before following the MC again to provide the reader details they were missing.

Good story, but needs an editor

There are a lot of spelling mistakes. "Wandering" vs "wondering" etc. It's a decent read, but the story isn't finished on RoyalRoad and it gets bogged down. If you have a character that will live for hundreds of years, you need to embrace time skips.

a marked improvement

The story maintains its momentum by remaining very compelling with a broad and likeable cast of characters.

It's worth pointing out that the editing in this book is much improved compared to the previous one.

Disclaimer, if this series turns into a harem I'll riot.

Decent story that's bogged down by POV swaps that repeat what was already said and wow over the MC.

The Female audiobook narrator is pretty bad, with fake English accents, and long drawn-out pauses that sound worse on 1.5-2x because they last 1 second at least.

The author can cook some more and probably have a better outcome.

Hooked on Ajax

I again loved book two of Ajax's ascension where more skill in story telling was so well woven into world building and plot advancement. The fact that I liked this young guy and am holding my literary breath to see what trouble finds him in and how he gets out of it as he advances is what I enjoy so much. Great read which I heartily endorse!

I am really enjoying it

The on thing I got a complaint about I wish he had made the stats easier to skip like in-between chapters our something. Well either which way this is a very good book I liked the first one and this one is a great second in my opinion with good growth of the MC I would recommend

Editing needed

Great story, and the pace of progression is quite nice. However, this and the prior book need serious and heavy edits. Grammatical and structural, but the largest two pain points are pov switches, and, most importantly, the status sheet needs some real help. Progression is forgotten, it's extremely cluttered, and it doesn't show the shills over rare. Ever. They exist, but you don't get to see them.

min-max

Earth guy reborn into a fantasy MMORPG brings all the benefits of his education and thousands of years of Terran human knowledge to introduce…beekeeping (thanks liberal arts and Discovery channel).

Perspective bounces around a bit too much, but it’s fun watching this overpowered guy figure out cheats and hacks to improve his stat and skill growth.

This is where I started to enjoy the series even more. The book still has too many typos, but after the first book, it is expected. The author does a nice job avoiding leaning on the tropes I find to be extra annoying. People are nice and mean to the MC, but it doesn't take over the story. While this book is largely exposition, the story is setting up nicely, and I can't wait to read more.

Top five series in this genre!

This is easily in the top five series in this genre. I read this and book 1 over the course of 3 days and I just couldn’t put it down. On top of all that, this is a new author. I can’t wait to see how much better his books get over time.

Good continuation.

I’ve enjoyed Ajax’s story, and this was a good continuation. However, it could use a good proofreading as there were a number of errors that made reading annoying, but not confusing.

great story, editing reqd

A fun read, engaging story and developing world. No deep thinking required, but light entertainment.
Lots of spelling and punctuation errors detract from immersion.
Will read next one for sure.

Book 2 of a great new series

Enjoyed reading Ajax story. Looking forward to book 3. Could use some editing help. A spellcheck would catch part of it as would a grammar check. Despite those issues I gave it five stars the book was that good

I enjoyed it more than the 1st book. Also, MUCH better editing and grammar. A few instances of auto correct to the wrong word, but otherwise a huge improvement. I am looking forward to the next book.

Amazing book

An amazing book just like all the rest in the series. 5/5 stars. My only gripe is that when showing his status page common, uncommon, and rare skills are shown but not any epic or legendary ones he has. Overall spectacular series

Book 2!!!!!

This one kept the pace format he first book and got Ajax moving into the wider world. He made some good progress in advancing and moving to the capital. Book 3 is looking to be very interesting.

This book was definitely better than the first. Still too many typos. And a bit too much exposition at times.
