Excellent. I love when the Author gives the point of view both main characters. Weather it’s throughout the book, or at a later time, it’s just nice to know what both people were thinking. Once again a great book.
My take of FIRST... (My review of FIRST from Feb 4th, 2014)
I have always wondered what it was like when cocky Levi's charming ways went unnoticed, well somewhat unnoticed, by Allie we they first met. It had to have been a burn to his high flying ego. And in some ways it was. Poor guy. Never been told no before until Allie. Now he is constantly getting told it from every angle. But he doesn't let that two letter word deter him. In fact, it only makes him try harder.
Great little novella. Only problem for me was that it ended. I needed to see his side of things as things progressed. But I still loved what Ivy gave us and I really cannot complain. It was a fabulous little read and we get Levi. So yeah, things are good and I will take what I can get.
Definitely something you don't want to read first in the series if you have yet to read any of the books. But if you have at least read FLIGHT, then I say get at it. This is just a fun addition to a stellar series. One of my most favorite series ever actually. 5 Feathery Stars!
My take of FOREVER...
Another novella from Levi's POV? Yes please! How on earth did we get so lucky to get yet another book straight from the mind of Levi? I don't think I would ever tire of this character in a million years. I love him and his cocky, snarky, self-assured ways.
What I loved about FOREVER is we are getting into the nitty gritty of his chase on Allie. And we get to see what Levi experiences and feels as he introduces Allie to his world. He knows she is the one and it is time to claim her as his own. But things get in the way and so do people. Then there is the fact that he has to prove himself to her. Prove his feelings are real and everything he has done so far is because of these feelings.
An amazing quick read that had me once again reliving and re-falling back in love with this world of Pterons. It is an absolute can't miss story. Get it now! You won't regret it! Another 5 Star Read!
I recevied this book from the author for an honest review.
AHHHH I NEED MORE!!!!!! This is a great little novella into the mind of Levi. If you are a die hard fan of the series you will LOOOVE this! I will say that it was fun to see Levi realize Allie was going to be more then just a bed mate for a night or two. I also loved to see Levi's feisty grandma who KNEW that Levi had met the one...even before he did!! But the scene that really got me was when he taking THAT RING from his parents house...ok fans of the series you totally know what ring i am taking about...EEEK!!!
The only think bad I can say is ...NOT LONG ENOUGH!! I would have KILLED to be in Levi's mind the night he gives Allie Said ring. I would wanna see him rationalize what he was doing without telling her the ramifications of accepting the ring. Granted, Series Die Hards like me know what happens and all that jazz but still to be in my book boyfriends head for that scene would have been awesome!!
Anyway, this book really only gives us insight to the first few days that Levi and Allie meet. It ends way to soon and before anything really happens with them as a couple but it was a nice reminded to me about what does happen in the book.
Review of Forever for current release 8-11-14
I received this book from the author for an honest review.
ANNNY fan of this series is gonna be going CRAZY for this 2nd installment!! I mean I was and I am. We get a glimpse of the "ring scene" plus we can see the wedding and honeymoon. Those parts of Levi and Al's love story were in the spin off series so we were more focused on Jared then Levi...can you believe it?? Jared and not Levi...snickers bet Levi is not happy about that one.
So this book is a short and sweet look through the stories when Al is dealing with the Toby drama and we even catch a glimpse of her "differentness" when the Were at a party mentioned her not being just a human.........see something i never noticed before...........
Anyway, the most important part of this book is Levi's thinking when he gives Al THE RING. His heart is really in the right place BUT he does what Levi always does....thinks about Levi and not what Al's wants/needs might be. So yeah I kinda wanted to punch his face for Al because of his high handedness of their relationship. Wow that is the 2nd made up word in this review...EH oh well.
The royal Wedding was awesome. We saw the wedding yes but to see it through Levi and Al's eyes was so sooo sweet. The whole time i am reading i was waiting for the "attack" but of course they were gone for that portion of the other book. The book was a nice look into and back through the relationship of Al and Levi. I love these two and look forward to more from them for sure.
This is a quick recap of the first book in the series, Flight, only told from Levi's POV. I was a little disappointed in this because while reading Flight and the rest of the series I felt that while Levi was a player, he was still serious about his role as Prince of the supernatural world and worked hard preparing for his future leadership responsibilities. In this book, Levi's POV makes him sound like not only a player but a total slacker completely unconcerned about his future role. Still, it was nice to see the growth of his and Allie's relationship through his eyes and the wedding epilogue at the end was nice. Worth the read if you've read the first three books.
I received this ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review, I was in no way compensated for this review.
Alyssa Rose Ivy's Crescent Chronicles is one of my fave New Adult series! She's one of the few Paranormal New Adult authors I stumbled upon and I love her books! And when she offered me a review copy of the First & Forever, I couldn't type fast enough! If you're looking to start the Crescent Chronicles, I still recommend reading Flight first, as Alyssa now dubs this one the fourth book in the series, I think that reading this one last is the best route to go!
Now I've already read, reviewed, loved First! This was basically the first half of Flight through Levi's point of view. So naturally, Forever, is the second half of the novel through his eyes! And I was happy once again to return to this story but being inside his head! It's been awhile since I last read Flight, but it was really incredible to relive the story in Levi's eyes.
In Forever, we basically see Allie being introduced to the paranormal world. After taking her on a flight with his own wings, Levi sees that she adjusts rather well to the idea. And if you've read Flight, you know how "well" things turn out.
I love seeing the romance between Levi and Allie! It was such a sweet tender thing, but yet still explosive and powerful! There were a few times I felt like smacking Levi though and his logic. He didn't handle things too well, but as we know, it all works out in the end!
I have to say I always admire when authors write from the male point of view. As a struggling aspiring writer, that feat is not something I even want to contemplate at this stage! I always love how it really feels like it could be the point of a view of a guy. Guess I have just grown used to all my female points of view over the years!
Not only do we get these two novellas through Levi's point of view, that pretty much makes up Flight in his eyes, we also get a bonus short story called Royal Wedding. Needless to say this is Levi and Allie's wedding, plus the start of their honeymoon! It's a rather short read, and this time it's told from BOTH their points of view by alternating scenes. It was a rather sweet little read, as it really cements the two's happily ever after ending!
First & Forever was simply incredible! I loved Levi and watching this his arrogant persona get turned around when he meets his match in Allie. This was one of my first foray into the Paranormal New Adult world and I totally loved it through and through!
First and Forever is a compilation of two novellas in one. Both are from Levi’s perspective but in First, you get to see how they first met through his eyes and in Forever, you get to see why them actively fall in love. With both of them you really have to have read the series (at least the first book) to get the complete picture. This isn’t like the first book told from his POV, it’s just pivotal moments from his POV to help you get a better idea of his mindset.
One thing I have to mention is that even when I read this story from Allie’s perspective, it was obvious how intense and quick Levi was regarding their relationship. Well, it’s even more intense and quick through his eyes, even though you can get a sense as to why he does everything he does and just how much he cares for Allie and why. While the way they fell in love and how things progressed is in no way, perfect, it was still nice to revisit their romance and even though Levi can be arrogant and cocky at times, it’s hard not to like the guy.
Overall, I really liked each novella and would’ve loved more. I liked seeing the things that Allie missed, like whatever went on between Levi and his friends or his family. And just being in Levi’s head was cool. Any fans of the series will enjoy these little tidbits very much. I flew through this pretty quickly, as I tend to do with any of Ivy’s books, and I really enjoyed it. Oh, and the royal wedding scene was icing on the cake! I loved it!
I am a huge fan of the Crescent Chronicles series and of the spin off so of course when I was given the chance to read yet another book all from Levi’s point of view I jumped at the chance to do so.
This is one of my most favorite paranormal series from Rose. It is so well written, suspenseful, and full of wonderful characters, both main and secondary that are hard to forget and have a nasty habit of burrowing deep into your heart.
What can I say about this other than it was fabulous? I love getting to see Levi's point of view (usually the stories were told in Allie's) on all of my most favorite (and romantic!) scenes.
What was even better is that we get to see the wedding! Yes, the wedding. Oh my gosh, it was wonderful and made me smile the whole darn time I was reading it.
Once again Rose delivered. She gave me everything I could have asked for and them some. She also reminded me once again why this series is in my top ten and why I love it so very much.
This book was from Levi's POV and I enjoyed it because I really wanted to know him better, I could understand his thoughts as he tried to conquer his girl, you should read this if you liked the first three books.
Love, Love, Loved this! It was so great to be with Allie and Levi again! I had already read First and loved getting inside Levi's head and Forever did not disappoint!! It reminded me why I fell in love with Flight and The Crescent Chronicles. The last few chapters of Forever were really wonderful. They were written in dual pov and were a great addition to Levi and Allie's story!
This series has been an average read for me but First and Forever was boring. I thought we would get an insight to the working of The Society and Levi's part in it. But all Levi thought about was Allie's legs and getting her in his bed. It's pointless to read this.
I don’t tend to go lower than three stars unless the book was really bad, and I wasn’t expecting to rate this book so low seeing as I loved flight, focus and found so much.
In this rendition of flight told from Levi’s perspective, the love story that I had devotedly shipped through the first three books was stale and boring and insipid. It added absolutely nothing to the story, there was no interesting spin on the story, nothing added and certainly nothing gained. The story just drew out the series and, honestly, ruined it for me. The original piece wasn’t a deep spectacular read full of philosophy and theology or anything, it was a plain and simple chick flick romance on page, still, the original actually told a story, had engaging characters and portrayed emotion. This version of Levi and Aly’s story had none of those things, there was no story, nothing new, I though we might find out more about the society, or anything really, but no. There was no character development, Levi only thought about Aly’s legs and how much he loved her without actually sharing with us anything about his emotions or reactions or, anything about him other than what we already knew from the actual books. Then on top of that there was no insight into or development of any other characters either. And there was certainly no emotion to the story, it was bland and boring and pretty much exactly the same story just with all the good parts of Flight removed and a couple of pro-nouns switched so they could market it as being from Levi’s point of view. At least in Flight we connected and felt for Alison , we shared her experience and she actually had emotions. This book was a pointless, rushed , money making scheme that no one wanted or needed. I was excited for an extra chapter, maybe to learn more about the super natural world outside of what we knew from the original books or insight into Levi’s personality but the only thing we learn about Levi is that in actual fact he has no personality. I really didn’t like this book and honestly, it was a struggle to finish. Not even two stars.
I was really looking forward to reading First And Forever. I love books where the author gives us a different POV of another character. We return back to Flight book 1 of (The Crescent Chronicles) again but this time it's Levi's POV.
I couldn't wait to get inside Levi’s head, and to get an inside look at his feelings and emotions he had for Alli. I liked that we got a look in on Levi's upbringing and how tough his father is on Levi. It gives us a good understanding why Levi acts the way he does sometimes, so persuasive and pushy. To have all that his fathers puts on Levi’s shoulders at the age he is, made me feel so sorry for him. I really wanted to tell his Father to back off lol. I wont say too much on this, just in case for those that haven't read Fight yet, and started off with Levi’s POV instead. Which of you can but I do recommend reading Flight book 1 first as there is a bonus story at the end which will give a massive SPOILER!. loved that we got all the scenes when he wasn't with Allie and what he got up to. The close relationships he has with his best friends Jared and Owen, I love it when they're all together haha there banter with each other is great.
When I got to the end and found there was a bonus story, I was so excited. I really enjoyed Levi and Allie's story, it had the perfect ending for them both. This is my first book series by Alyssa Rose Ivy and I'm so glad I found her books. She is an incredible writer, I've already brought Soar which is book 1 in (The Empire Chronicles). It's the same world with the same characters, just different character POVs. So the adventure carries on whoop whoop. I can't wait to re enter this world again with these characters, for more action and mind-blowing surprises.
RATING: 4.5-STARS AGE: PG-18 SERIES: THE CRESCENT CHRONICLES BK:1 Meeting a guy is the last thing on her mind-until she sees Levi. Unable to resist the infuriating yet alluring Levi, Allie finds herself at the center of a supernatural society and forced to decide between following the path she has always trusted or saving a city that might just save her. BK:2 As things within The Society heat up, Allie realizes that whether she's with Levi or not, she's in far too deep to turn back. BK:3 Desperate to save Jess no matter the personal cost, Allie has to face the possibility that the only one she can trust is herself. BK:4 Levi's almost out of time. Allie's the one-he knows it in every grain of his being-but how can he make her see it? Desperate to keep Allie safe and at his side, he takes the biggest risk of his life. Reckless or not, there is nothing he wouldn't do to keep her with him . . . forever. MRS.C
And so we come full circle. First & Forever divides the book in two parts: First being the first book in Levi's POV en Forever being the last part in this series. I have to say I had expected it to be a bit different, however I still enjoyed reading this book. First really gives me a better perspective on how Levi really was. And my first impression on him in Allie's POV in Flight was a mistake after reading this book. We get so much more detailing on Levi's life and how he really feels that it's just incredible to see the difference between two character's perspectives. I really appreciated seeing both perspectives as it only enriches the story. To conclude the circle we read the part "Forever" where we see how their lives become bound and how these two will start their life without us readers. A beautiful ending that fitted their atmosphere and their likes. I am left emotional!
First and Forever had great potential to give us a better insight into the world filled with paranormal creatures, which are ruled by Terrans. One of the most powerful ones is Leviathan, the heir to the throne, who's POV is presented in this book. Unfortunately, the author (again) failed to bring this interesting community to life by literally rewriting the entire first book in the series called Flight (written from Allison's POV) and by doing so, making this book completely redundant.
The characters are shallow and have no personality whatsoever and the paranormal community is mentioned simply to justify that Levi is a hot dude with huge black wings. Seems like an extremely bad rip-off of Sarah J. Mass's A Court Of Thorns and Roses series, with strong associations to the Night Court and Rhysand/Feyra connection).
Loved this story. I was pulled into the story right from the beginning, watching it play out in my head while reading the words on the page. There is a lot going on in this story, it is packed with surprises, some you will see coming others you won't. But they all widening making the story fantastic. I found that I felt each and every emotion emotions that the characters felt, I did get frustrated a few times. I highly recommend this book. It is on audible which I do use a lot.
Maybe it's because I don't like surprises and I have been lied to a lot. But I really don't understand Al's attraction to Levi after everything. And even seeing his side didn't help much he really did just keep a lot from her and he thinking he was all hot and because he's going to be king that it's okay. That she will forgive him. She needed to run for the hills and not return.
Rating - 4 stars .... i liked this more than the original POV! Is it perfect no but it has so much potential. The story line has a great premis and has me interested in hearing more. Is it full of cliques, obvious secrets and people who change their mind for no reason, yes but I kinda like it honestly. It was a great day off read, will recommend.
I loved all of The Crescent Chronicles. This last one was told by Levi. Similar to the previous books but in Levi's viewpoint. The final chapter told about their wedding and honeymoon location. These details were not told in the previous book. Levi and Allie were meant to be together. Anyone would enjoy these books.
My fault for not reading the description before just purchasing the next in the series. This book is purely repetitive, and from Levi’s view, but would say it’s only 20% new, most the book is rewashed, copy & paste dialog already read. I like the concept though for any future books of mixing and sharing both perspectives.
Yeah, these two novellas together are the contents of Levi's head during Flight! I'm really glad for that! Like what happened after she ran away. And the Royal Wedding at the end, that was so great! I just wish we could've see her telling her mom and dad about it!
this is basically the same story as the first book but with Levi's POV, I'm not really a fan of the retelling but it did have like 2 new things you learn about their relationship that you didn't know before but meh.
The wedding part was just boring, cheesy, and unnecessary. It had me questioning why I read the series. The vows were lame. I felt like I was reading some nerd child's journal of her dream wedding. Puke
The perspective switches over to Levi and we track the whole story from his point of view. You get to learn just how arrogant Levi actually is and partake of another great read. But you also get a feel for his vulnerability.
I'm not a huge fan of books written about a different book in another character's perspective. I loved the characters in this series so I was interested in this one. It was OK. I still enjoyed the original better.
