It’s one thing to see other people’s fates. It’s another thing entirely to accept your own.
Ira Faer has a secret. As a prophet in the Paladin Guild, it’s his job to report his visions to his superiors. The trouble is, his visions these days would get a lot of good people killed—including himself. He can’t tell them he’s been seeing rebel paladins and demons working together, and he certainly can’t tell them about the visions of himself and the sinfully hot halfling demon named Wolf. So he lies, hoping they won’t discover his transgression.
But his careful balancing act is disrupted when he has a vision of Wolf being attacked by paladins. Unable to stand by and let it happen, Ira rushes to intervene and brings his whole world crashing down around him.
Wolf has been around for a very long time. He spends his nights tending the bar at the demon club, In Extremis, as he has for the last hundred years. It’s a monotonous slog from one night to the next, until Ira barges into his life. He can’t believe a prophet of the Lord would ever care about him, but Ira doesn’t just care. Ira wants him, red eyes and all.
Under Ira’s careful and sometimes cryptic direction, old friends and new will take steps toward the future Ira has been seeing, but it won’t be easy. Unrest grows in the Paladin Guild, and they won’t let one of their precious prophets leave the fold so easily.
Forbidden is the third book in the Dark Delights series. In my opinion it's best to read the series in order. This is the story of Ira a prophet in the Paladin Guild and Wolf a halfling demon. The overarching story plot really starts to come out in this book. The heat and spice in this book are so so good. I loved both the main characters in this book and how quickly they came together. I really didn't think the first two books could be improved on but this one was the best so far. I really can't wait for the next book in the series. I would definitely recommend this book and series as 5 star reads.
I knew I liked Wolf already, and being the third installment of dark delights, it was very welcomed the twist the prophet brought to the story in.comparison to the paladins.
War is getting closer and closer and can't wait to see what comes next!
As a Fallen and Unholy stan, can I just say that I thought Forbidden would be good but didn’t think those two books could be improved upon, and I was wrong!!! Forbidden deserves more than 5 stars but sadly, 5 is the limit.
The first two books are fantastic, but Forbidden is really where this overarching story gains its legs and starts off running. Ira being a prophet means he’s seen what’s already happened and once he’s involved, things are finally set in motion. Whilst the first two books focussed mostly on two guild paladins falling in love with their demons, Ira and Wolf’s book is about finally getting the ball rolling on opposing the guild and starting their own version of hunters and private investigators.
As for the romance, swooooooon. For six months, Ira has had visions about Wolf and who they would become to one another, so as soon as he puts himself in Wolf’s path, they hit the ground running. Wolf’s immediate belief in Ira and what they’ll be to one another, means we get an entire book where the couple are together and it means there’s no relationship angst at all (my favourite!). Plus, the smutty scenes are rooted in a deep desire for and understanding of each other which just made them top tier.
I truly cannot wait for Shadrach’s book after all the teasing in Forbidden, but it looks like it’s Nathan and Storm next. After meeting Nathan in book 1 and seeing his desire to be on the right side of things, and seeing Storm make that same choice in this book, you just know that they’re going to be a formidable couple.
Thank you KT Yarrow for the ARC. This review is entirely my own.
Ira Faer is a prophet in the Paladin Guild. His visions, as well as those of other prophets, tell the Guild where they should concentrate their efforts. The problem is that Ira has not reported a vision in many months. He has been having them but not the type the Guild wants to hear. When he sees a vision of Wolf being attacked, Ira knows he must intervene. Ira’s visions tell him Wolf is part of his future and he rushes to save him, changing both of their lives. Wolf has been working as a bartender for one hundred years. His job has become boring and monotonous. When Ira blasts into his life, Wolf realizes how much he is missing. Ira is the missing link for many things. Under his direction, Wolf begins to believe maybe a prophet could be for him while the others are given directions on how to move into the future. Unfortunately, the Paladin Guild does not want to give up one of its prophets and trouble arrives.
Ira’s arrival in the life of Wolf as well as the lives of Alex, Talon, Luke, and Malachi gave the whole group direction and focus. Putting his visions into use for them leads to quite a few new things. Wolf is perfect for him and the two together make for great and very hot reading. There is danger for them and their friends as the Paladin Guild changes rules aa well as refusing to release Ira. They will need to work together if they are to succeed. This series is quickly becoming one of my favorites. It has everything you want - great heroes, bad guys, lots of heat and plenty of surprises. We can all look forward to more. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
As someone who rarely jives with insta-love, this maybe wasn't the read for me. Occasionally this trope can be done in a way that I like, but this, well, wasn't that. While there is an element of "True Mates" going on here, I found the way they fell into bed and furthermore into clingy neediness, abandoning everything for each other all of thirty minutes after they met, to be unbelievable and a little silly. The too-fast-to-be-believable theme continued through the book.
I also found the character building, plot, and writing style to generally be lacking. Even the small, superficial details that I expected to get more screen time were lacking. For instance, I was intrigued to hear that one of the main characters had a long blond braid and that he thought may have been a Viking in another life, but the braid is barely mentioned that first description, and the character is never even described with his hair out of the braid, even though there's on-page showering and hair washing. I assume the hair is long and straight and tuggable, but alas, I can only resort to my imagination for that image. But as for the big things, there's little character history or growth, and the climax of the plot is resolved within a chapter.
I will say that the spicy scenes are generally pretty spicy and well-written. They were the best parts of the book in my opinion. And the story moves along at a good clip, so if you're looking for something quick and spicy and don't mind or even enjoy the concept of insta-love, this could be a better fit for you.
The concept for this series, a (corrupt) religious order organized around protecting humans from demons that keeps losing its prime fighters to love with said demons (or halflings) is interesting enough to keep me reading, especially as the Paladin Guild gets more and more sinister. But I wish wish wish there was more to the characters, especially on the halfling side.
In Forbidden, Ira, one of the prophets for the guild who is tasked with receiving visions to guide the Paladins, starts to see visions he can't share with the guild about humans and halflings working together. His visions lead him to Wolf, the halfling that tends bar in the previous two books. It's clear that Wolf has lived a very long time, but we get so little about him. Like the other halflings in the previous too novels, he is in a state of shock and awe at his human lover. And he develops feelings of possessiveness and the desire to protect that he does not understand.
Ira is a bit more developed, we get a sense of his life serving the guild, and what the rupture from it means for him.
I think as the arc of the series develops, there could be more variations in the characters and the relationships between Guild members and halflings. I will keep reading to find out.
Forbidden is the third book in the series, and in my opinion the best one yet (yeah, I also said that about the 2nd one lol).
Ira, a human prophet from the guild, is a great character. He's been getting visions of him and Wolf, the halfling demon bartender from In Extremis, as a couple and decides to act upon it. I love how he just waltzes into Wolf's life and basically says "hey, I'm your human" and Wolf basically says "okay cool, let's get get naked". Yeah it doesn't happen exactly like that lol, no spoilers I promise, but there's no long drawn out courting process where they both pine for each other and resist each other and leave us hanging for the grand finale where they give in and accept their love. Nope, none of that nonsense for Ira and Wolf. Ira says it's gonna happen, so he makes it happen lol. I love that. I really do.
Alex and Luke from the first two books are in this one quite a lot, along with their lovers Talon and Malachi. I appreciate all the characters from the past getting screen time and the overall progression of the bigger storyline.
Third in series (Dark Delights), must be read in order due to overarching storyline. Paranormal. Forbidden relationship. Found family. Dual POV.
Keeping his visions a secret lately has been hard, but Ira has seen a future different than what the Paladin Guild wants, and it includes Ira’s forbidden relationship with the demon halfling Wolf. Rescued by a prophet, Wolf doesn’t understand how Ira knows the things he does, but there is an undeniable attraction and connection between them that he refuses to give up.
I really enjoyed the forgone conclusion that Ira and Wolf would become partners and lovers, there was no hesitation from either of them and the fact that it felt so right for them was actually swoony. There is plenty of spice and the found family that is growing from the demons and former paladins was especially great as they became tighter and committed to fighting together. I do wish there had been more background for Ira and Wolf, but every moment they are on page together was so sweet with a cinnamon roll demon taking care of his brave and capable prophet. 4.5 rounded up
Ira is the 3rd human to find his demon mate. While the first two were paladins Ira is a prophet for the Paladin Guild.
Six months ago Ira stopped logging what he saw because it he did him and the other two men should have been stopped.
Six months of knowing Wolf and the pleasures he will provide. However, when it comes to the day to make the choice will he go to his demon?
This story brings back the two paladins and their demons and gives our bartender his human. They all soon discover having this seer in their group will be good for them.
Soon Ira will lead them to The Rink which will soon become a major base of operations for what is to come. However, Ira can never share to much for fear of changing what he sees.
This one was fun because it was different than with the Paladins because he already saw what was to become and when he was face to face with Wolf it was so much better than his vision.
I'm super excited to see what's next. We obviously have an idea of who some of the next members will be and I think I know who is going to be butting heads with the new leviathan we met in this book.
The Dark Delights series is a delight. Books one and two about the paladins, Alex and Ira, were fun, exciting reads. Book three is about one of the guild's prophets, Ira. Ira and the demon, Wolf, have a dynamic that sizzles. A bit too much sizzle. I would gladly have sacrificed some of the bedroom scenes for just a bit more story. Because the story is so original. A smooth plot, great pacing. Good worldbuilding. Ira isn't a complete innocent, but close enough. The only action Wolf has had in the past two years was a once off pick up from In Extremis. They're mates, they want sex. Alllllll the time. But the tearing off of clothes and leaving a trail of them (Wolf really needs to introduce Ira to a hamper) got to be a bit of "here we go again". There was a nice bit of action in the story. The other kind. The author left a few glimpses for what is to come. And there are at least two more paladins to get their demons. Nate's story is next. I was hoping it would be Isaac. Both have interesting demons. So should be fun. The book was a good, quick read. KT Yarrow does steam and spice very well. So enjoy. I received an advanced copy of this book and this is my review.
'If Wolf was killed, his visions would finally stop. He couldn’t have a tryst with a demon who was dead. All his problems would go away if he just… did nothing. If he let Wolf die. But guilt churned in his empty stomach at the prospect. Could he live with himself if he let Wolf die? Could he live with himself if he didn’t? No matter what he did, it would change things. Either the visions would stop, or he would have to raise a hand against the guild in order to protect a halfling. It was forbidden. Whatever he chose, after tonight, nothing would be the same.'
I really enjoyed this book. Good world building and wonderful characters. I was fascinated by the concept of the prophets. There was tension and suspense, a feeling of some danger looming just in the distance, and I was hooked. I loved both Ira and Wolf. I liked what brought them together and how their relationship developed from there. The two hard great chemistry. I also liked a number of the supporting characters. I read the last book, but not the first. I'll have to go back to it, because this one was an exciting adventure and I want more in this world. 5 stars.
I started this series unconventionally. I started with Forbidden (Book 3) then read Unholy (Book 2) and Fallen (Book 1) last. What can I say; the blurb of the third book interested me most but it was the first book that I ended up liking best.
I personally like slow burn stories with some sort of situation causing some hesitation and the premise for Forbidden seemed to capture this storyline well. However, I felt the story between Ira and Wolf developed quite fast and left me with a sense of undevelopment. The entire story as a whole was interesting but there was more focus on the story rather than the characters. The book was not character driven but rather story driven - and for me, although it held my attention, it did not have a lasting impression because I felt no connection to the characters and had no investment in their story.
I’m interested to read the next book and can’t wait for Isaac’s book in future.
This is another brilliant book in a series that I just can't get enough of. Ira and Wolf had explosive chemistry from the start; I liked how they both just had complete faith in Ira's visions and acted accordingly. There were plenty of steamy scenes between them and it was well-paced. I liked seeing Alex, Talon, Luke and Malachi again too. This book feels like a turning point for the series; I think that getting to know some other secondary characters really opens up the world building even more and I'm so interested to see some of the other demons and paladins get their HEAs! I'm looking forward to Storm's book next but I also really hope that Shadrach and Isaac end up as a pair too... I think they'd be explosive! Overall, another great mm romance and I'd definitely recommend the series.
This book is another Dark Delight from KT Yarrow and it definitely is a delight with more to come. Poor Ira! I felt so sorry for him and all of the prophets held by the Paladin Guild as they are kept in the dark and yet know too much at the same time. Yarrow does a marvelous job of world building in this series with humans and supernaturals in conflict. The love story starts almost immediately with Ira and Wolf in a fated mate type of situation and they just smoothly flow into each other’s lives. The main story that follows through this series is the main star as the “good guys” now have Ira who knows a lot about what is supposed to happen. I really like how Yarrow makes Ira’s ability a two edged sword and has various characters talk about how knowing the future may not be the best thing. Can’t wait to read book four “Sinful”
I can't say that I enjoyed the beginning of this one nearly as much as the first two installments in the Dark Delights series, but Wolf and Ira's love slowly grew on me. There was something about Ira knowing it all was inevitable that made it feel like he was giving up instead of giving in. There was absolutely no sexual tension to speak of, where the first two couples practically vibrated with it.
What I really loved was getting to see the softer side of the Paladins. Ira not knowing how to fight but giving it his all to protect the little family he's creating outside of the guild made my heart hurt for him. He really is so brave, so compassionate, and so clever it's no wonder the former Paladins and halflings alike adore him. Wolf had his moments, too, but there's no denying that Ira stole the show.
Another amazing mm romance by KT Yarrow!! This series keeps getting better and better and I can’t get enough!! The way Ira has been having visions of the future including Wolf was super cool. But what I really loved was how when be comes to save Wolf and he tells him he’s been having visions of them together, Wolf is like “ok, you are mine”, and accepts it like absolute truth. Their relationship is delicious and spicy but their connection is solid and mystical. Having the presence of the characters from previous books adds even more connection to the story. The plot thickens in this third book and it shows a lot more depth than the previous ones. I’m honestly in love with this entire series, and this book is no different.
Ira, the MMC, is a prophet in the Paladin Guild, he has visions and reports those visions to his superiors, except he hasn't been honest in that. Wolf, the MMC, is a halfling-demon bartender, who has been plaguing Ira's visions for months.
This book follows Ira and Wolf's story arc (third book in the series), and it's really good. They hit it off immediately, once Ira threw himself in Wolf's path, and the story takes off at a mile a minute. Their passion towards each other is obvious, and shines well.
Luke and Alex (from previous books) feature here with their partners, Malachi and Talon. Including them was a great choice, and I enjoyed seeing them again.
This is the third book in this series but was the first one I read, and I really loved it. I think I will read the first two books as well, as I really enjoyed the world-building and the characters. but you can read this one definitely as a stand-alone.
the story and the worldbuilding were interesting. I liked the idea about the demon world and how that connects with the human world.
Ira being a seer, took some tension and suspense out of the book, because - if you know what happens next - the problems and troubles nearly didn't matter . but as Seers are a main part of this world-building, I think the author did their best in writing a great story.
This won't be the last book by this author and in this series I will read - can't wait to get my hands on the next book
The plot thickens! I was thrilled to finally dive into Ira and Wolf’s story. Their connection felt both sweet and intense, and I loved how quickly their relationship developed—reflecting Ira’s deep faith in his visions and Wolf’s unwavering trust in him.
With war looming on the horizon, the stakes are rising. The moments with the full team together are a highlight, especially with Ira’s visions guiding their next moves. Even Talon is starting to soften—an unexpected but welcome development!
The glimpses of future pairings are a great touch. I’m especially intrigued by the hints about Shadrach and Isaac—there’s definitely fun ahead.
KT Yarrow weaves an intoxicating mix of forbidden romance, gripping intrigue, and supernatural tension in Forbidden. Ira, a prophet with dangerous secrets, and Wolf, a jaded halfling demon, make for an electrifying duo, drawn together despite the deadly consequences. The chemistry between them is undeniable, and the stakes only get higher as they navigate a world where betrayal lurks in every shadow.
The worldbuilding is rich, the pacing keeps you hooked, and the emotional depth makes every twist hit even harder. Forbidden love, rebellion, and destiny collide in this thrilling addition to the Dark Delights series.
Another fantastic installment in the Dark Delights series! Ira and Wolf are absolutely perfect together! The possessiveness and heat from the first two books are still there, but I loved seeing the ‘holy man’ go looking for his halfling mate this time around.
The plot gets really exciting in this one as well! MC’s from the first two books are present, and a ‘team up’ starts to appear as they join forces to fight against the guild. Many other familiar faces return, and I’m eagerly awaiting their own stories, especially Storm and Shadrach! I can’t wait to see what else this series has in store!
Intriguing and sinful The 3rd book on the series and, in my opinion, the best so far. The overarching plot that runs along the series is getting more and more interesting. Ira has a vision and saves Wolf from an attack by the paladins and the connection is so strong that he leaves all his life behind. The story is in a turning point, where the guild's corruption is increasingly evident and the humans and their demons start finding a new direction. I'm really curious about what's coming....
"The Guild" is not what it's cracked up to be and it's getting worse. Ira has a lot of knowledge, but not all of it. There is some pretty bad fighting with evil demons in the story. Not all demons are bad either, in fact the misfits from the guild seem to be finding their forever partner nad it does look like it's forever, withing the demon community. Some characters are super fun, some are equally serious but they are all well written and the story is one I had trouble putting down. I loved it! I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
Forbidden (Dark Delights Book 3) by KT Yarrow ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/5 I love Ira and Wolf, reading their story was super easy and flowy. KT did a wonderful job of writing a plot well developed, full of action, love, trust, spiciness and friendship. I enjoyed reading the way Wolf blinded trust and believed everything Ira said. How from the first touch he knew they belonged together. How easy both Ira and Wolf gave into their feelings was really great to read. Definitely a must read, I can’t wait for what's next on the series.
So good! A great mix of action, romance and fast lines. Where the first two could be read as standalones, this one really starts to pull it all together, and I love how the previous characters become a unit now. The story is sound and written in a way that gives you no other options than to keep reading. There is a decent amount of spice, but it ties well into the story, and is coming across very tasteful.
YALL IRA FINALLY GETS HIS BOOK AFTER HELPING ALEX AND LUKE! IRA IS A PROPHET OF THE LORD WHO SEES HIS FUTURE WITH A DEMON NAMED WOLF! WE MEET A COUPLE NEW PEOPLE IN THIS STORY AND FINALLY LILLITH IS A PART OF THIS BOOK. WE KEEP HEARING ABOUT HER NOW WE HAVE SOME OF HER IN THIS BOOK. 🔟🔟 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
This is the third book in the series and I definitely think it’s better to read them in order. This is Ira and Wolf’s story and I really enjoyed it and the series plot line just keeps getting better and I can’t wait to read more from this series in the future to see how it finally ends, I’m looking forward to Nathan’s story next.
4/5 stars! This is the first book I have read by K.T. Yarrow and I quite like it. Ira is a cool character; a Paladin with visions of a world where demons and paladins work together...enter Wolf (who is not a wolf). He is a demon and hot damn, do these too have chemistry. The book had a fated mates storyline and a cast of fun characters. I'm excited to see what is next in this world.
I enjoyed reading the next book in this series by KT Yarrow. Engaging characters and a wonderful story! I'm excited to read the next book in this series! I read an advanced copy of this book and this is my unbiased review!
