Very good but leaves more to be desired.

Very good story but the lack of lovemaking scenes with the two main characters is disappointing. It's a great sci-fi romantic adventure but if you're expecting hot yaoi action you don't get is much as you would like. And after all the two main characters went through to be together to have a full sex scene finally consummating their relationship sucks.

I really enjoyed this series. The artwork was beautiful, and I enjoyed the characters. I thought the Aldin and Ral relationship especially endearing. They could have a whole manga devoted just to them, I think.

Ryuka denied his feelings for Ixto through most of the series, but when it came to saving him, he could only do so if he loved him, and ta da, a happy ending! I'm a sap, so I like happy endings. The manga-ka had a little blurb about the "afterward" for some of the relationships at the end of the series. The one between Leyan and Widow holds promise, and Ral and Aldin live happily. Thr mangaka did not give a blurb for what Ixto and Ryuka's life is like together, but we can assume they are happy. The only one I had a problem with is Cymric and Izayoi's, as the former didn't seem too happy.

All in all, I liked this series. It was funny and sweet. Some might find him annoying, but I thought Coon was adorbale. Nyan!

While this final volume has its share of travails, the struggles are of the inner kind rather than outward conflict. There are no desert bandits here, e.g., just Ryuka coming to grips with his emotions for Ixto. There are a few surprises, revelations and confrontations. But, all in all, this manga is more passive in tone than the proceeding volumes.

There is also sex but it’s more of the coercive, master-servant variety rather than the passion exchanged between equals. Since most of the creatures in this novel are of the unhuman type, human ardor isn’t much displayed. Only Ryuka and Ixto’s affections for each other ring true in this final volume. In spite of hoping to see a happy ending, I must admit the happily-ever-after fairy tale tone fell a little flat.

A little rushed of an ending, but I am glad the series finally concluded after being on hiatus for several years.
